I've been wanting to write this one shot for quite sometime. I have always believed when Lily couldn't find Chuck the night of the Snowflake Ball that he was with Blair, off somewhere making love. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. There are several throw backs in this chapter. I hope you enjoy reading them. I couldn't decide whether to publish this in my Christmas fic but ultimately decided to put it here. It is February after all. Consider this an early Valentine's Day gift. Also, I am still planning on updating "Global Ecstasy". I haven't abandoned it, I promise. xoxo
"Dad, you've got to do something!"
Chuck Bass looked up from his laptop as his sixteen year old son came storming into his office. Emma, Chuck's assistant, was close on his heels.
"Mr. Bass, I'm so sorry," she was slightly out of breath.
Chuck stood up. "No worries, Emma. Can you let Jameson know that I'll be with him shortly?"
Emma nodded, "Of course." She left the office closing the door behind her.
Henry dumped his bookbag onto the carpet and plopped down into one of the leather seats in front of Chuck's large desk. He ran a hand through his already disheveled hair.
"She's gone too far this time," his son sighed dramatically.
Chuck stepped around the desk crossing over to the bar cart against the wall. "Henry, you cannot just burst in here. You need to at very least ask Emma if I'm busy. I could've been in a very important meeting."
Henry mumbled an "I'm sorry."
Chuck picked up the decanter of scotch and poured himself a large portion. He felt he was going to need it. Picking up his drink and a bottle of water for his son he turned taking the seat next to the distressed teen. He tossed the bottle into Henry's lap taking a swallow of the single malt.
Chuck crossed his legs staring at Henry. "Ok, Hen, who is she and what has she done?"
"It's Mom! She's ruining my life." He flung his head back closing his eyes.
Chuck took a larger sip this time. "What has your mother done besides love you, care for you and put you before everything else in her life?" Chuck raised his eyebrows looking pointedly at his first born.
Henry opened his eyes rolling them towards the ceiling. "I should've known you'd be on her side."
Chuck leaned forward staring at his son. "I don't even know what this is about to even take sides."
Henry lifted his head from the back of the chair. "It doesn't matter because you two are always taking up for each other."
"That's called being loving partners and good parents." Chuck drained his glass before setting it aside. "Now, why don't you tell me what this is all about and we can see if we can come to some sort of solution."
Henry sighed. "Mom signed you and herself up to be chaperones for the Snowflake Ball and now I'm going to be the only junior there with his parents. Just kill me now!" Henry's head fell back against the seat again.
Chuck was thankful that Henry missed the look of shock and then panic that had crossed his face. The last thing he needed was his son realizing that Chuck was not only totally unaware but absolutely not interested in attending the annual St. Jude/Constance winter dance.
He knew Blair was on the planning committee but she hadn't ever discussed actually chaperoning the dance. Just the thought of wasting an entire Saturday night in an over heated ballroom with a bunch of obnoxious, over sexed teenagers and their pretentious parents was enough to make Chuck want to put his head through a wall.
Henry groaned. "And what is Milly going to think?" Milly Cooper was Henry's date. It had taken him a month and countless pep talks from Chuck before he had worked up the nerve to ask her.
Chuck stood up taking his glass with him as he headed back to the bar. "She's going to think you have parents that are involved in your school." He poured a very healthy amount of scotch in his glass. "Henry, it's not like we're going to be the only chaperones at the dance. There are going to be other parents and faculty there." He took a sip of his drink as he rejoined his son.
"You know back when your mother and I went to the dance your grandmother chaperoned and I survived." Chuck was suddenly flooded with the memories of that night. Blair looking absolutely stunning in her custom silver matte gown wearing the necklace he had given her for her seventeenth birthday. He remembered their banter and finally coming to the realization that they really were made for each other. He recalled dancing with her; holding her close and tight in his arms before they had made their escape to an empty room. They had made love and he had felt whole for a moment or two before his whole world had come crashing down around him. That night was the beginning of the end of so many things.
"Did mom and you go together?" Henry asked bringing Chuck out of his revelry.
"Sort of," Chuck mumbled.
Henry looked at him somewhat confused. "What does that mean? How do you 'sort of' go to a dance together?"
Chuck drained his glass. "That's not important. Try not to worry about this right now. I'll speak to your mother and see how set she is on this whole thing." Chuck stood up.
Henry realizing the conversation was clearly over, stood up as well grabbing his book bag from the floor and slinging it over his shoulder. "Thanks, Dad."
Chuck reached out putting an arm around Henry's shoulders as he started to lead him to the door. "No matter what happens, I promise, you will survive." He ruffled Henry's hair as he pulled open his office door. "Now head home before Dorota sends the FBI out looking for you."
They both laughed nervously knowing it was entirely possible. Chuck watched as his son apologized to Emma and crossed to the bank of elevators located on the opposite side of the office floor.
"Emma, tell Jameson I'll be ready in five minutes." He closed his door and crossed back to his desk. Maybe he could persuade his wife to join him in a much more pleasurable endeavor than a high school dance.
Seven hours later and Chuck found Blair in bed reading. She glanced up at him as he entered their bedroom. "Did you check over Cordelia's paper?" Closing her book she set it aside onto her bedside table.
Chuck nodded as he untied his robe and slid it off. "I did. She didn't have too many issues with it. That girl is too smart for her own good. She actually wrote a convincing argument about how the Kardashian's are the modern day Bennets."
Blair's forehead wrinkled. "I'll have to read that. Yesterday she asked me if she was too young to read Anna Karenina. Can you imagine any other thirteen year old asking to read that?"
Chuck slid into bed next to her. "Only our daughter." He leaned over kissing her bare shoulder before turning off his light. "She's so smart. Just like her mother."
Blair glanced over at him. "Are you going to play Vronsky to my Anna tonight?" she asked as she raised her eyebrows at him coyly.
He reached out for her pulling her down onto the bed. He leaned over her placing his lips close to hers. "I see us as more of a Levin and Kitty kind of couple. Lost to each other but eventually finding our ways back together and living happily ever after. Babies and all." He kissed her deeply.
Blair slid her arms around his neck shoving her fingers into his hair as she pulled him closer. She placed her lips against his ear and whispered softly, "Always the romantic." She kissed the side of his neck.
"Not always," he growled back as he settled himself between her thighs reaching under her silk nightgown and pulling her lace panties aside. He kissed her hungrily as he thrust deep inside her.
And just like that all conversation came to an end.
An hour later and they were both sated. Blair was just starting to drift off to sleep. Her head was against Chuck's chest as he played with her hair.
Chuck leaned up a bit kissing the top of her head gently. "I was thinking we could use a getaway before the craziness of the holidays. Maybe a long weekend in Turks and Caicos just you and me. A quick back and forth."
Blair sighed not opening her eyes. "That sounds fantastic. I could probably use it before my mother descends from Paris. I'm so glad she didn't stay after Thanksgiving this year."
Chuck continued playing with her curls absentmindedly. "Great. I'll arrange everything for the following weekend." He was hoping to catch her unaware of her calendar. He should've known better.
Her eyes snapped open and she glanced up at him. "That's the weekend of the Snowflake Ball. We cannot be gone that weekend. We need…" She watched his face and immediately she knew. "Henry talked to you didn't he?" Chuck started to stutter as Blair raised herself up pulling the sheet along with her.
She narrowed her eyes at her helpless husband. "Don't even try to deny it, Charles Bass." She ran a hand through the curls he had just been tangled in. "You two; always thick as thieves."
Chuck was finally regaining his senses. He sat up settling his back against the headboard. "That's funny because that's exactly what he said about you and me."
"That's because you are always Switzerland." She sighed dramatically.
"What's so bad about me wanting to whisk my wife away for a romantic weekend?" He tilted his head in that way that he knew drove her crazy.
"Don't do that. You know damn well that I have signed us up to chaperone the dance. What will the committee think if I bail out to lay on a beach all weekend?"
"They'll think you have the most incredible husband in the world." He smirked at her as he reached out for the sheet she was still grasping in a tight fist. "They'll find another couple to chaperone. A couple without a private jet and an unlimited bank account."
She slapped his hand away. "Don't you dare try to distract me with sex." She scowled at him raising the sheet even higher. "That isn't going to work. We are chaperoning the dance."
Chuck shrugged. He knew when to admit defeat. "Fine. I'll chaperone the ball but I need some incentive if you want me to be polite." He smirked at her once again.
Blair released her death grip on the sheet letting it fall away. Her nipples tightened in response to the cool air and Chuck's burning gaze. "Oh, you'll be polite," she said as she straddled his lap. She shoved her fingers into his hair tugging hard, bringing his face to hers. "If you don't I may have to punish you," she whispered breathlessly against his lips.
"Is that a promise?" He lifted his hips a bit pushing his erection against her damp center.
"Absolutely," and as her lips covered his she did exactly that.
The next morning at breakfast Henry glanced over at his parents who were holding hands as they sipped their coffees. He groaned knowing he had lost the war. He wondered if his father had fought even a little bit for him.
Blair glanced at her son. "Is everything okay, Henry?"
He sighed. "Yes, mother, everything is great. I'll be the laughing stock of my lacrosse team but," he shrugged dramatically, "what does that matter to you?"
Cordelia was suddenly very interested in her older brother's melancholy, "What happened?"
"Mom and Dad have decided to ruin my life," he moaned as he leaned forward over his plate of pancakes. He was suddenly feeling naseaus.
Ned, who had just slipped into his chair, reached for the syrup. "Is this about mom and dad babysitting for the Snowflake Ball?" He began to pour a generous amount of syrup atop his pancakes.
Blair reached out taking the Hermes Balcon du Guadalquivir creamer out of Ned's grasp halting the sugar overload he was putting on his breakfast. "That's enough, Edward."
Ned gave her a puzzled look not knowing whether she was talking about his teasing Henry or the syrup.
Blair stared across the table at her eldest child. "Henry, it's not going to be that bad. You won't even know we are there. I promise."
Henry rolled his eyes as he picked up his fork and stabbed a piece of the fluffy buttermilk pancake. "Whatever."
"Mom," Cordelia looked over at Blair, "will you and Daddy chaperone when I'm old enough to go to the Snowflake Ball?"
"Most likely we will, Cordelia."
"Lucky you," Henry mumbled under his breath.
Chuck set his coffee cup atop his saucer. "Alright, that's enough moping, Hen. We're chaperoning and we're not discussing it again. It's not the end of the world." He pushed his chair back and stood up slipping his suit jacket on. "Now everyone finish up and I'll drop you off at school on my way to the office. It's pretty cold this morning and you're not going to want to walk." He straightened his sleeves before leaning over to place a kiss to Blair's cheek.
Henry resigning himself to social ruin finished his breakfast in silence.
The evening of the Snowflake Ball was cold and cloudy. Chuck was running late after a squash match with Nate that went long. He rushed into the master bedroom, shouting his apologies as he crossed into the dressing room.
He stopped dead in his tracks when he came around the corner and caught sight of Blair. She was standing in front of the full length mirror adjusting the bodice of her ball gown. She looked breathtakingly beautiful.
She slowly turned to face her husband. "You're late," she raised her eyebrows at him in annoyance.
"And you're beautiful." He looked her over from head to toe. He took in the beautiful Waldorf Original gown in crushed gray velvet that clung to her curves, her blood red lips and her curls hanging loosely over one shoulder. Then his eyes came to rest on the Erickson Beamon necklace, that he had gifted her with all those years ago, clasped around her throat. He took five steps to stand directly in front of her.
He reached out and tenderly straightened the diamond encrusted heart that hung at it's center. "Something this beautiful deserves to be seen on someone worthy of it's beauty." He leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss against her lips.
"And just like that I cannot be angry with you." She smiled softly at him and the memory of that long ago night.
"Chaperoning this dance is all worth it seeing you wear my necklace and looking so gorgeous. I'm going to be the envy of every man in that ballroom tonight." He smiled as he watched a blush creep up along her cheeks.
"Very smooth, Bass." She glanced at the silver clock on her dressing room table. "We're going to be late."
He kissed her one more time. "I already showered at the club. I just need to throw on my tux. Give me ten minutes."
She nodded her head as she reached out for her evening bag. "We'll meet you downstairs." She started to leave the room and paused at the threshold turning back to face a now disrobing Chuck. "Oh and Chuck, it really is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry. Second, only to this." She held up her left hand so he could see the sparkle of her Harry Winston engagement ring and wedding bands. "I love you." She left before he could even respond.
Chuck came down the staircase fixing his cufflink. Blair was standing in the foyer wrapping her fur cape around her shoulders and next to her looking pale and nervous in his Dior tux was Henry.
Blair turned to the hall mirror and began to reapply her lipstick as Ned entered the foyer.
"Mom, Cor won't let me watch Home Alone tonight. She's being so mean." He knelt down by his dog Max who had followed him.
Blair glanced down at her youngest child. "You two need to work it out."
Chuck stopped next to Ned and touched the top of his head. "You know there is more than one television in this house."
Ned looked up at his father as Max attempted to lick his face. "I want to watch it in the theatre and she wants to watch The Holiday for the hundredth time this week. It's a stupid movie."
"Oh and watching some eight year old assault two criminals with a combined IQ of 50 is a quality production," Cordelia responded as she put her arm around her mother. "You look so pretty, Mommy."
Blair smiled at her daughter. "Thank you, darling."
"Can we go already?" Henry asked as he pulled at his stiff collar. He was feeling incredibly nervous and all this arguing wasn't helping at all.
Cordelia turned to face her brother. "What does Milly think about you being escorted by your parents?"
"Cordelia, that's enough," Chuck warned.
Natalie, the children's nanny, entered the space. "Come on, Cordelia and Ned, popcorn is being made and I have Miracle on 34th Street ready to go."
Blair smiled at Ned and Cordelia as they both started to groan. "There you go, problem solved." She slipped her lipstick into her bag clasping it shut. "Thank you, Natalie. Everyone in bed no later than eleven. We have a full day tomorrow." She leaned over and kissed both kids good night before turning to Henry. She straightened his bow tie smiling at him. "You look very handsome. Let's go."
Chuck who had just finished saying good night to Cordelia and Ned took his wife's hand and led her out to the waiting limo.
Two hours later and Chuck had had about all he could take of the dance. He excused himself from a group of UES parents and went in search of his wife. They had spent a whole ten minutes together the entire evening and he was about to rectify that.
He finally found her across the way in deep conversation with two other women he vaguely recognized. He approached her and gently took her elbow.
"If you would excuse us, ladies, I just need to borrow my wife for a moment." He led Blair away as the women sighed wistfully at what a gorgeous pair they made.
Chuck slid his arm around her waist as he led her across the ballroom. He noticed Henry with his arms entwined around Milly slow dancing. The kid wasn't doing half bad. Chuck was proud.
As Chuck led Blair to an exit door she looked up at him. "Where are we going?"
"I need some air." He pushed the door open and he led her down a long hall glancing into passing doorways. When he came to what appeared to be the last door on the left he opened it and led her inside locking it behind them.
The room was a small space with cozy chairs, couches and low tables. It was dimly lit and had an air of intimacy about it. "This was what I was looking for."
Blair looked at him with a furrowed brow. "What are you doing?"
He reached out placing his hands on her hips squeezing gently. "Do you remember the night of our Snowflake Ball?"
She nodded. "Of course. How could I forget?" Her look softened.
"You were so beautiful. I thought I would never see anything that beautiful again in my life. But I was wrong." Blair started to protest but he stopped her with a kiss. "What I didn't know then was that I would one day see you wearing an ice blue dress waiting for me at the Bethesda Fountain or that I would see you pregnant. I had no idea I would see you give birth to our three incredible children, that I would see you sitting by their bedsides when they were ill. I didn't know then that I would wake up most mornings next to you and know a peace and contentment that I never could've imagined would have been possible on that night so long ago." He cupped her face in his hands. "I love you Blair Waldorf Bass more than I could've ever thought was possible. You are my everything."
Blair's eyes were filled with tears. She wanted to respond but she was finding it impossible. "Chuck…"
"Don't say anything. I just want you to know how much I love you."
She stared at him for a breath or two before she flung her arms around his neck and started to kiss him. Her fingers tugged at his jacket trying to pull it from him. She was almost frantic.
Chuck assisted her by ripping the jacket off and tossing it to the floor. As he recaptured her kiss he backed her up slowly. His fingers went to the zipper at the side of her dress pulling it down exposing a bit of her ivory skin. He slipped his hand into the open slit and rested it at the small of her back pulling her tight against him.
Blair could feel his raging hard on against her. She reached her hands between them opening his pants slipping her fingers around him. He groaned against her lips as she stroked him gently.
When he had maneuvered them over to the couch he ended the kiss and turned her around, her back flush against his chest. She gasped as he wrapped his arms around her pulling her tight as his mouth kissed the side of her neck.
"Are you ready?" he whispered against her ear.
Blair unable to speak nodded her head.
Chuck gathered the length of her velvet gown in his hands pulling it up to her waist and then he gently bent her over the back of the couch. His hands ran over her lace covered bottom squeezing the fullness.
"Still the best ass ever," he groaned. He pulled her lace thong down sliding it along her legs. He helped her as she stepped out of them. He slid the scrap of lace into his pocket before pulling his dick free from his pants. He leaned over her kissing her bared neck.
"I love you," he whispered before positioning himself at her entrance and entering her in one hard thrust.
She gasped as he held himself deep inside her. When he couldn't wait another minute he began to move slowly, nearly pulling himself out before plunging deeply in again.
Within five minutes he knew he was going to lose it. He reached between her thighs finding her slick folds, helping her along to climax with him.
They were both spent within a minute. Chuck was panting heavily as he pulled himself from Blair. He reached into his pocket pulling out his handkerchief. Reaching between Blair's spread thighs he gently wiped himself from her. He then helped her stand upright. Her dress slipped back down and into place.
Chuck wrapped his arms around her kissing her deeply.
Blair still slightly unsteady placed her hands on his shoulders. "That was so much better than high school." She smiled softly at him.
"Definitely better." He kissed her once more before reaching for the side zipper of her gown and zipping it close. "We should head back."
She nodded reaching out for her evening bag that had been tossed aside onto the couch. She then slipped her hand into his and they left to return to the ball.
About a half hour later Blair found Chuck standing with the headmaster of St. Jude's. They were in deep conversation. She slid her arm through his smiling at the headmaster.
"Do you mind if I steal my husband for a few minutes?" It was her turn to rescue him. The headmaster nodded once thanking them both for helping out.
Chuck looked down at his wife as the headmaster walked away. "Hello, there."
Blair squeezed his upper arm gently. "I think you've done your duty. Why don't we get out of here?"
Chuck looked over to where his son was slow dancing with Milly. Chuck was instantly transported to all those years ago when he had held Blair tightly in his arms. Life was so complicated for them back then. He was so happy in the knowledge that it wasn't the same for his son. Henry would never know the heartache and lack of love Chuck, himself, had experienced. Henry was well loved and cared for and that was the way it was supposed to be.
He caught his son's eye and nodded once smiling at him. Blair waved and mouthed a good night to him as Chuck put his arm around his gorgeous wife and led her out of the ballroom. In the end it had all worked out as it should be and he was happy; that was all that mattered.
