I literally wrote this at like two in the morning last night. Woke up this morning, did some editing, and now here it is. Lol. I hope you enjoy.

Chapter 38

Touga quickly sent a text to Kagome, sighing as he placed the device in his back pocket. Looking up, his keen eyes could make out the cars in the pitch-black parking garage. He was somewhere he wasn't supposed to be, but he couldn't help it. This was a matter that needed to be handled.

Kagome was going to be furious with him. Luckily, she hadn't stayed mad at him for long when he admitted he no longer wanted children. For the rest of the petting zoo visit, she barely spoke to him, either focusing on the children or spending her time thinking. By time dinner that same night, she had forgiven him, returning back to her bubbly self.

He assumed it was because of her forgiving and selfless personality. She sacrificed so readily if it meant someone she cared for could benefit. He was upset with himself for it and it wasn't something that would go away any time soon. She gave up wanting to have babies because he was scared to lose her.

Still, as angry at himself as he was, he couldn't bring himself to agree to have any more children. He couldn't risk Kagome's life. It was a catch twenty-two, a double-edged sword. He kept Kagome safe, but in return, she gave up something she had wanted for some time.

That's why he was here. A parking garage closed off from all eyes. It was used for illegal activity, drug trades, prostitution, any horrible and law-breaking activity could be found here. Sesshomaru was the only one that knew he was here. He also knew why, which was why he let Touga go alone. It wasn't like the person Touga was meeting could do any damage to the lord anyway.

Approaching footsteps had Touga looking up, eyes narrowing into pure hatred at the man that was walking his way. His beast began to bleed into his vision in the form of reddening eyes, and Touga had to fight to hold him back.

Kouga.

The man who had attempted to force himself on Kagome.

Once Touga had learned his first name, it had been easy to track down the wolf. All he had to do was pay some people, give Kouga's name and the college both he and Kagome went to, and suddenly Touga had a last name. From there, he was able to find out everything he could about the fool who was threatening Kagome.

"You called." Kouga stopped a few feet away from Touga, his two right-hand men behind him. He hadn't expected a call from the great dog demon, but he wasn't going to turn down this opportunity. He may be able to get information that could be usable in the future. "And how did you get my number?"

Touga didn't say anything at first, just looking over the little weakling in front of him. Kouga held himself like he was all-powerful, but he didn't hold a candle to Touga. Pushing himself off of his car, which he had been leaning on, Touga began to remove his valuables. Watch, phone, anything that meant anything to him was thrown through his open window and into the front seat of his car. The only thing that remained was his wedding band. That would never be removed. "I am the Lord of demons, Boy. Did you really think I couldn't find out what I wanted about you with a snap of my fingers."

Kouga scowled, face that of fury. He knew he was dealing with a powerful demon, but not the lord. He should have known, paid better attention. After all, how many people had the name Taisho? "Why go through the trouble. You so bored sitting on top of all us little people you have to pick on us?"

"Pick on you?" Touga raised an eyebrow, smirking as he did. He had the air of a superior, and it aggravated Kouga to no end. Perfect. It was just what Touga wanted. "You think I have time to worry about the low lives in the demon world? You foolish little cub. Any free time I have is spent burying myself in Kagome."

Kouga growled, realizing exactly why he was there. Before he could register what was happening, the enraged dog had Kouga slammed against the car, claws puncturing the skin of the wolf's neck. Ginta and Hakaku didn't move, unwilling to risk their life for a master that had gone off the deep in.

Touga leaned in, eyes red with blue pupils. He sniffed at Kouga, smelling the wolf's fear. A most delicious scent. "Now you understand why you are here, Fool. Do you remember that day you tried to rape Kagome? I'm sure you do. You attempted to force yourself on her and then mate her, all against her will."

Kouga smiled, hiding the terror he felt. His hands were wrapped around Touga's wrist, his eyes glaring into danger. "She wanted it, even if she was afraid to admit it."

Touga lifted the wolf off of his car, just enough to slam him back into it, denting the back door. "That is my mate, you speak of." His fangs we're bare, lengthening so they could rip Kouga to shreds. "You claim she wanted it, and yet she blasted you away with her reiki. She despises you, loathes your existence. If you were to die, it would be nothing more than being compared to swatting a pesky mosquito. No one would notice your death."

Kouga tried to speak, but Touga stopped him with a wicked smile. "In my research of you, I found out something interesting. Your two loyal companions, they are tired of your ways, have been reporting your activities back to your pack. No one wants you as their leader anymore." As if to prove his point, Touga turned to look back at Ginta and Hakkaku. "If you two wish to return home, leave now. I will pay for your return flight, and your pack can move on from this lowlife."

Kouga looked at them, pleading that they prove Touga wrong. After a minute of meeting the wolf's eyes, they turned, leaving the garage. The way they saw it, Kouga created this mess, and he could find his own way out.

In a rage, Kouga lashed out with a snarl, slicing Touga's face. It was enough to have Touga stepping back, blood running down from the deep scratch that crossed over his eye. Had he been human, he would have been blinded. With a roar, Touga attacked, grabbing the wolf's arm and twisting it back so hard it broke, the snap echoing around them

Kouga let out a yell, falling to his knees. His face was slammed into the ground, causing his vision to blur as a hand pressed him into the concrete, a body of pure furious muscle holding him down. At that moment, Kouga feared for his life. He had every reason to.

Touga leaned down, his entire body shaking with restraint so he didn't kill the fool. His arms and hands we're sprouting fur, his body trying to transform just so his beast could have the satisfaction of eating Kouga in a single gulp. "Let me make this clear, you insignificant bastard. The only reason you still have air in your lungs is because of the laws the humans have created. However, should you even look at Kagome or my family, there will be nothing that will stop me from shredding you to pieces and letting whatever vermin walk by eat your scraps. I will not give you another warning, so it would be wise to put as much space between you and my mate as possible."

Touga slammed the wolf into the ground once more, knocking the bastard unconscious. He stood, placing a hand to his eye and wincing. There was no way Kagome wasn't going to see the mess he was. His eye wouldn't heal overnight. It was too fleshy, too deep.

Blinking, he sighed and ignored the burn of the blood in his now amber eye. He was going to have to face up to what he did, and deal with Kagones wrath. Getting in his car, he left the wolf there, and drove off, thinking of all he could do to lessen Kagome's anger towards him. Perhaps flowers?

By the time he arrived home, the moon was high in the sky. He knew the kids would be asleep, but not likely the others. Grabbing the giant bouquet of roses he stopped to buy, he began walking towards his home. The florist had been closing the shop when she had seen him. Had she not been a demon and recognized who he was, he would have been denied. He tipped her handsomely for her help.

Opening the door, he placed the roses in front of his face and searched out his family. Finding them in the living room watching some tv, he knew Sesshomaru smelled the blood when his son growled lowly. So low only Touga heard.

"Touga, what is this for?" Kagome stood, walking up towards him.

"It is my hope that my most forgiving mate will…forgive me?" She hesitated for a moment and then took the flowers, gasping as she saw his wound. Hands going to his cheeks, she checked him over, worry etched into her face.

"Touga, that's your eye! You could go blind! What did you do?" she practically dragged him upstairs and to their room, setting the flowers on their dresser and pushing him into the bathroom. She was frantic, pulling out supplies to treat him.

"Kagome." He grabbed her wrist, making her look at him. "I will be fine. Once I clean it, you won't be even to tell."

She narrowed her eyes, looking him over. The blood had soaked into his clothing and coated his hands. He was a mess. Ignoring what he said, she turned to the shower, setting the temperature and began to undress him.

"Kagome-"

"Let me take care of you. You can explain what happened while I clean your wound." When he was fully naked, she pointed to the shower and he sighed but listened. The water felt good on his skin, so he really did need to clean up. He was surprised when Kagome joined him, just as naked as he. He ignored that particular bit for the moment.

She grabbed a washcloth, starting with his eye and gently cleaning. A single glance from her, and he knew she was waiting for an explanation. "I went after Kouga." She stiffened, but kept silent, knowing he had more to say. "I am not sorry for what I did. He hurt you once before, turned the council against you and potentially meant to harm you further. I will not risk your life and took out a potential threat."

Closing her eyes, Kagome looked down for a moment, her hands in his cheat. "Did you kill him?" Raising her head, she relaxed when he shook his in the negative. "I don't like violence. You know that, but I also know you are a demon, and you will react to threats differently than I will. I think right now, I'm more upset that you got hurt."

"I will be fine within a day or two." He grabbed her hand, pulling it up to his lips so he could kiss it. "Especially with you to care for me."

"I'll always take care of you. Even when you threaten out enemies and come home bleeding." She smiled at him, washing away the last of his blood. "Try to keep the bleeding to a minimum, please. If you don't I will worry about you more."

"Anything for you, My Love." Grabbing her waist, he pulled her close and then pressed his lips against hers. Her pure and caring heart was exactly why he did what he did. He would protect her, and that beautiful organ to the best of his ability.
