It was almost noon in Parappa Town, it was a fair-weather type of day as the sky was blue with little white clouds floating by here and there. The Rappa family car was on the road today, navigating the warm, friendly streets of town.
"C'mon! Why aren't we there yet? It feels like we've been driving forever!" The young Pinto whines from the backseat. The girl was wearing her usual little pink dress, her silky blonde hair in her standard ponytail.
"Sweetie, we've only been driving for ten minutes!" Papa Rappa states, briefly looking at his daughter through the rearview mirror before shifting his eyes right back on the road ahead.
"I know you're excited Pinto, we'll be there in just a few more minutes okay?" Mama Rappa turns her head to look back at her pup.
"Well, can you go any faster? I want to see Grandma as soon as possible!" Pinto begs her father to accelerate.
"C'mon Pinto, you're starting to sound like your brother." Papa says. "I'm going the speed limit, and getting pulled over definitely won't help us get there sooner."
Pinto sighs as she slumps into the car seat. "Okay..."
Pinto always loves visiting her dear old grandmother. She looks forward to every trip to her house, which happens to be in the more upscale neighborhood outside of Parappa Town. She would always spoil Pinto with sweets, gifts, and of course love! So it's only natural Pinto is extremely eager to arrive there!
"At least I can finally show Grandma Uee! Right little baby~" Pinto pets little Uee, who is temporarily imprisoned in a cat crate in the other seat.
"Just make sure you keep an eye on him while you're there. It's a big place, he could easily get lost. Plus, I really hope your grandma isn't allergic to um...Uee..." Papa says as he stops at a stop sign.
"I will say. Even if she is, the amount of makeup that woman puts on would make a clown jealous! A little swelling wouldn't even be visible!" Mama laughs to herself.
"Phoenix! This is my mother your talking about." Papa narrows his eyes at his wife.
"Oh come now Richard, you know I'm telling the truth." Mama rolls her eyes.
"Look, I know you and mother don't exactly get along, but can you please try to not get into an argument with her once we get there." Papa pleads with his wife.
"Fine. As long as she doesn't say anything stupid that is." The firefighter folds her arms.
A couple minutes go by until the Rappa's finally reach the street Pinto's Grandmother lives on. It truly was one of the nicest neighborhoods in town. With big, two story houses and well-kept lawns and gardens galore.
"Okay, here we are!" Papa exclaims as he pulls into the driveway of a huge, fancy home. One that is twice as big as the Rappa's residence.
As the family begins to exit the vehicle, the front door to the house swings open.
"Ah! There's my princess!"
Coming out of the building was a large, old woman. She had gray, curly hair and a soft, droopy face with a lot of make-up on it. Most noticable was the crimson red lipstick over her large lips.
She was wearing a red, silky dress that covered her portly body, as well as a pearl necklace on her neck.
"Grandma!" Pinto ran straight to her grandmother as soon as she saw her. She jumped into her arms and the old dog planted a huge kiss on the puppy's forehead, leaving a big, red lipstick mark.
"Oh how I missed you! How's my favorite grandchild doing?" Grandma asks, still hugging her.
"I'm good! I won my school's spelling bee not too long ago!" Pinto happily beams at her.
"Oh! How wonderful!" The Grandmother chuckles.
"Now now mother, it isn't fair to Parappa if you call Pinto your favorite grandchild. I think you mean favorite granddaughter." Papa chimes in.
"Yeah mmhm anyway! How's my boy doing too?" The old woman pinches her middle aged son's cheek.
"Mom!" Papa holds his freshly pinched cheek. "I've been good. Recently been busy with my work...and new house guests...but good nonetheless." Papa explains.
"Ah, that's nice dearie~" Grandma smiles before looking over towards Mama Rappa.
"Oh...hello there Phoenix." The old pup puts on a forced smile.
"Hey there...Margo." Mama Rappa also dons a forced smile as well.
The two awkwardly stand in silence for a few moments before Margo speaks.
"So...I can see you're still um...firefighting hm?" The grandmother observes, seeing Phoenix wearing her firefighter jacket and hat.
"Yup." Mama bluntly says, looking around at her surroundings instead of on the older dog.
"Ah...so uh...I suppose you aren't planning on giving up such a...dangerous profession to become a stay at home mother anytime soon hm?" Margo raises an eyebrow at her.
Phoenix sighs as she wipes her brow with her fingers. "No Margo. I love my job."
"Oh I'm not saying you don't! I'm just saying that all that hard, tiring work is for the men! A lady like you should be looking after the house. Let your husband worry about earning the money!" Margo explains.
Mama Rappa grits her teeth a little. "Margo, if it weren't for me, half of Parappa Town would be rubble and ash. Those men at the station need me."
"Perhaps, but so does your fam-"
"OKAY okay haha anyway let's talk about something else huh?" Papa Rappa quickly interrupts his mother, knowing that changing the subject would avoid whatever was about to happen.
"So um. Pinto, why don't you introduce your grandma to Uee!" Papa says to his daughter.
"Oh! Yeah! Grandma, this is Uee!" Pinto shows her grandmother the little blue creature inside the cat crate, who just stares at her.
"Oh...um...how lovely..." Margo nervously sweats as the thing keeps staring at her. "What kind of...animal is it?"
"He's a Uee!" Pinto answers, still smiling.
"Um...what is a Uee?" Margo scratches her chin.
"Y'know...a Uee!" Pinto answers again.
Margo confusedly looks over to Papa for any kind of clarification. He just simply shrugs.
"Alright...um...I'm afraid I'm going to need kitty litter..."
"Oh no, it's okay! Uee's potty trained!" Pinto continues to smile.
This causes Margo to become even more puzzled, glancing over to the little beast who is still staring at her.
"So Mom, what do you and Pinto plan on doing today?" Papa changes the subject.
"Oh! Well I'm going to spoil my little princess of course! I'm going to bake so much sweets for you!" Margo kisses Pinto's forehead once more.
"Aw yeah! Cherry pie?" Pinto asks.
"Mmhm!" The old dog nods.
"YESSS!" Pinto cheers for her favorite kind of dessert.
"Also, I have some lovely dresses for you to try out Pinto! I had them custom made! Just for you!" Margo smiles.
"Custom made dresses? From a tailor? How much did that cost?" Papa raises an eyebrow.
"Oh hush, money is no issue, especially when it comes to my little pup!" Her grandmother pinches her cheek. "You're going to look amazing in those dresses! I'll help you look proper! You won't be needing hand-me-down Jeans and T-shirts from your mother in a few years if I have something to say about it!" Mama Rappa rolls her eyes to Margo's comment.
"Believe me! They don't call me Parappa Town's Fanciest Mutt for nothing!" Margo grins with pride.
"More like Parappa Town's Fattest Butt." Mama says under her breath.
As the dog family continues to talk, a white, beat up van parks a bit further down the street.
"Wow boss. I gotta admit, this neighborhood is quite lovely." An overweight purple cat, Groober, observes as he sits in the driver's seat.
"Yeah. A lovely neighborhood with lovely houses filled with lovely loot!" A slender purple rabbit, Gaster, exclaims from the passenger seat.
"Think about it, we just have to pick just one of these houses, and we're set to find thousands of dollars worth of junk! Probably in the living room alone! Why haven't we thought of this before!" Gaster proclaims.
"Hmm. Probably because this will be the riskiest thing we've ever done, and if we get caught, we could face serious jail time?" Groober raises an eyebrow.
"Uh...wh-whatever! This is a good idea, trust me!" Gaster frowns.
"Okay boss I trust ya. Anyway, we gotta pick which house we wanna burgle later." Groober says, looking out his window.
"Yeah, you're right. Hmm...what to choose what to choose..."
Gaster sits back in his seat, tapping his chin as he looks around the neighborhood. His attention is caught by the canine family up the street.
"Hmm? What's this?" Gaster opens his window and adjusts his ears to listen to their conversation.
"...anyway, we better get going now! We'll come by tomorrow afternoon to pick you up sweetie!" Papa Rappa says as he and Mama hug their daughter.
"Okay! I love you! See you tomorrow!" Pinto says as she hugs her parents goodbye.
"I'll be sure to tell Parappa you said hi." Papa says to Margo.
"Huh? Oh yes, sure thing. Ta ta Richard~" The old woman waves her son goodbye.
"See ya Phoenix." Margo unenthusiasticly waves her daughter-in-law goodbye.
"Mmhm." Phoenix half-asses a wave as the two get back in their car and leave.
Meanwhile back in the van. The purple rabbit's eyes widen and his face turns red.
"Did you hear that?! Did you hear what they said!?" Gaster shouts at Groober.
"Barely, what did they say?" Groober asks.
"They said PARAPPA! That was his freaking family Groober! I bet they're just as bad as him!" Gaster grits his teeth at the thought of the orange beanie wearing dog.
"Okay...what does that have to do with anything?" Groober is a bit confused.
"Look, from the way it looks, I believe that's his granny right there. That's her house! So what I'm thinking is, what better way to get back at that bastard dog than to rob his granny's house!" Gaster exclaims out loud.
"Boss! The freakin windows are open tone it down!" Groober looks around worried, sighing when he realizes nobody did.
"It's settled. Nothing will make me smile more than to take that dumb old lady's things, just to spite her dumb lil grandson! It's perfect!" Gaster cackles at his idea.
"Okay boss, if that's what you want to do, then that's what we're gonna do." Groober agrees with his idea.
"You're damn right! Okay, we'll come back here at midnight, maybe a little after. Wait until that old fart is asleep, and we'll get to work! Hahaha!" Gaster laughs his evil laugh.
"Alright, let's roll."
With that, the van drives off, passing the house they plan on burglarizing later that night.
"Okay then! Now that we're alone! Are you ready to have some fun?" Margo asks, smiling a warm smile.
"Heck yeah! This is gonna be the best day ever!"
