Drake walked behind Bella and Lilly as they explored what the capital had to offer. He could not take his mind off the name that Bella had mentioned earlier: Tawazun. It was familiar to him. Too familiar, but he didn't know anyone here and he had no memories from before being encased in the stone tablet. Did he even have a life before then? If he did, why couldn't he remember it? Drake had given this some thought when he first came here, but it wasn't until now that it bothered him. Just then, a group of people ran through him and the elves.
"Come on! I don't want to miss this!" One of them shouted.
"Seriously. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity!" The other answered.
The trio stood themselves back up. "Perhaps we should see what all the commotion is about?" Drake suggested. The others nodded in agreement.
As they followed the group, they soon saw a gathering crowd of people.
"Come on! Show us!"
"We want to see too!"
"Bring out the beast!"
The crowd was cheering with excitement over something, or rather someone.
"Yes, yes! I bring before you a creature unlike any you have ever seen! A dragon the likes of which only one such as I could possibly subdue and capture!" The person in the center proclaimed.
"This should be interesting." Drake crossed his arms.
"Behold! The 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon'!" The man shouted with pride. It was then that a large black dragon rose to the sky. Its body was like a silhouette against the stars and its blood-red eyes seemed to glow with anger and determination. The crowd roared with excitement, both joyful and fearful.
"Wow. That thing's crazy." Bella awed.
"It is, however, there are others more powerful than it." Drake huffed.
"Your 'Blackland Fire Dragon' was impressive, but that dragon is on a whole nother level." Bella argued with a smile.
"This is true." Drake answered calmly, disappointing Bella.
"Are there any out there who dare to challenge my dragon? Anyone at all? I, Joshua, declare a Duel against the one brave enough to try!" The man declared. For a moment, no one dared say a word. Then someone from the crowd spoke up.
"I accept your challenge." They said with confidence.
"And what is your name?" Joshua asked.
"Tanner." They answered.
"Very well, Tanner. We will Duel with our best Monster on the line. I don't need to tell you which one is mine."
"Agreed. Let's Duel."
The two started their Duel with the entire crowd watching, waiting to witness a Duel worth losing sleep over.
"I'll start things off." Tanner announced.
Drake stood back and watched the Duel play out. It hadn't been long before Joshua summoned his 'Red-Eyes Black Dragon' to the field.
"It doesn't seem like Tanner has a chance against that dragon, huh?" Bella deduced. Lilly watched with wide-eyes.
"Tanner never had a chance. He plays poorly and has little understanding of what it means to strategize." Drake sighed.
"You saying you could beat Joshua?" Bella huffed.
"Yes. I already have it figured out."
"How to beat him?"
"How to control him." Drake said with a horrible smile. Bella didn't know if she preferred seeing his smile without his full mask or letting herself imagine his smile with it on.
"It would appear that I have won, Tanner." Joshua smiled. Tanner gritted his teeth as he handed Joshua his best Monster. "I'm sure I'd get some use out of this, but I doubt I'll ever actually use it." He laughed. "Does anyone else want to challenge me? No? Come on now. Don't be shy."
"I accept your challenge." Drake called from the back. The crowd turned to the voice and almost instinctively parted the way for him to pass through, either because of his bone-chilling tone or because they wanted to see another Duel.
"Tell me you name." Joshua demanded.
"You may call me Drake." He answered.
"Drake? Interesting. Do you think you also stand a chance against me, like the man before?" Joshua laughed.
"I will do my best." Drake stated calmly.
"First put up your best Monster so I may claim it when we are finished."
"If you do not mind, I would prefer to save it for later. Do not worry, I will give it to you should you win, but this one is special to me."
"Fine. You must be pretty ashamed of if now after seeing my 'Red-Eyes'." Joshua smirked. Drake only sighed. "Now then, let the Duel begin!"
