Hey everyone, new chapter here finally. Thanks for your patience, been having computer and personal issues. Now I am introducing the second and final major OC for this story here. I may put in others in the future but those will all be minor ones who only appear in a chapter or two. This new OC will have a minor role currently but will be more important down the road. CH 52 A Champion of a Time Part I

Giovanni's Office:

Ash was shocked as the office turned into a battlefield. The entire floor save for where they were standing flipped over as a very plain field appeared.

"Surprised huh, I had this set up a while back, very handy if you ask me," Once the field was fully transformed the two took their places across from each other," this will be a fill six on six battle, any objections?"

"None here," Ash said pulling out a Pokeball.

"Good, Kartana battle time." Giovanni threw out a Beast Ball as a Kartana popped out.

"An Ultra Beast already huh, Hawlucha I choose you!" Ash sent out Hawlucha who immediately began posing raring for battle.

"Kartana Swords Dance." Glowing sword appeared around Kartana as it powered itself up.

"Hawlucha Brick Break!" Hawlucha sprinted towards Kartana with one of his wings glowing. Giovanni, however, had seen it coming.

"Double Team." Kartana split into dozens of duplicates and began speeding around confusing Hawlucha. Hawlucha stopped in his tracks unsure of which one to attack.

"Focus Hawlucha, only one of them is real," Ash encouraged him as Hawlucha tried to figure out where the real Kartana was.

"Slash!" The duplicates scattered as the real Kartana zoomed in and hit the unaware Hawlucha.

"Revenge!" Seeing that as their chance, Hawlucha took the attack before retaliating hitting Kartana back with just as much force. Kartana was sent flying back a bit before using its claws to ground itself.

"Vacuum Wave." Kartana slashed at the air creating a powerful shockwave that surged towards Hawlucha.

"Into the air and use Flying Body Press!"

Hawlucha jumped over the wave as he took to the sky. Flying through the air he sped towards Kartana before crashing back down towards it.

"Stop it with Energy Ball!" Kartana shot a ball of green energy at the falling Hawlucha hoping to stop him. Hawlucha disregarded that as he crashed through the attack and right on top of Kartana. The Ultra Beast was slammed into the ground creating a hole in its shape. Hawlucha back-flipped away form Kartana as it slowly got back up.

"Hawlucha Power-Up Punch!" Not wanting to lose ground Ash went back on the offensive as Hawlucha went to strike Kartana again.

"Protect!" Kartana was enveloped in a blue shield as Hawlucha's attack failed to hit the target.

"Low Sweep!" As the barrier disappeared Hawlucha swept his leg at Kartna who jumped into the air.

"Metal Claw!"

"Brick Break!" The two clashed briefly but Hawlucha easily overpowered Kartana sending it flying again. This time however, Kartana hit the ground and fell unconscious.

"Good effort Kartana return," Giovanni said as he recalled Kartana.

"Hawlucha let's keep this up!" Ash exclaimed as they waited for Giovanni to send out his next Pokemon.

Meanwhile:

Back outside the base Looker sat in his mobile base far enough away to avoid detection while still being able to monitor things. He had begun noticing strange energy readings from what seemed to be underground and was getting worried. The back-up he had Alex request was still missing. Most of the champions were helping with the reconstruction of Hau'Oli so there was only one champion left that was available. He was told the Galar champion was on their way along with another but they were still nowhere to be seen.

After looking over his findings again he heard a knock on his RV base. Getting up he opened the door expecting to see the champion Leon. Instead there was a rather short girl, maybe about 5'1. One look at her and he was getting bad vibes. She had shoulder length green hair under a blue scally cap. She had on a bright red leather jacket, tight red slacks and dark also wore a blue and white top that resembled a gym uniform that left much of her pale midriff exposed. He had no clue what her eyes looked like as she was wearing a rather expensive looking sports sunglasses. She had what looked like the stick of a lollipop sticking out from her mouth.

"Um who are you?" Looker had no clue who she was, he was expecting the Galar champion, not someone who resembled a biker girl.

"Seriously ya got no clue who I am?" The biker girl looked rather upset at his question as she crossed her arms. He had no clue who she was or how she got here.

"Sorry I was expecting the Galar champion Leon."

"I beat him like two weeks ago, I'm the best in Galar now." The girl lifted up her sunglasses to reveal pink eyes with hearts in them. Looker figured they were contacts of some sort.

"So no Leon?"

"Nah he's here, he just got lost along the way."

"You didn't try and find him?" Looker asked as the girl stepped into the RV and sat at the empty table by the window.

"Nah," she said as she leaned back putting her feet on the table," it's more fun this way." She pulled out what Looker could now identify as a red lollipop out of her mouth and gave it a few licks before tossing it into a nearby garbage can.

"Would you take your feet off the table?" The girl just ignored him as she pulled out a Rotom-Phone.

"Yo Lee, the hell are you doing?" She ignored Looker as she talked to who he assumed was Leon.

"Fine I'll get ya here in a jiffy, I'm sending a Pokemon to get ya, stay put for Arceus' sake." She hung up before placing her phone on the table. She walked out and released a Pokemon before returning.

"He'll be here soon?" Looker asked as the girl put her feet back on the table much to his annoyance.

"Yeah he will, my Pokemon will get the job done."

"So you are the new Galar champion?"

"Hell yes, Gloria is my name, strongest trainer in Galar, not to mention the most beautiful," she answered flipping her long green hair with a sly smile. The girl seemed cocky and aggressive to Looker. He had a feeling she would be a handful like Marissa.

"Well Alex and Marissa are here so…"

"What, that damn airhead is here?" Gloria immediately reacted at the mention of Marissa by slamming a fist on the table.

"Um yes she is, is that a problem?" Looker asked slightly afraid of her outburst.

"Of course it's a problem, that bitch stole my advertising deal!"Another fist was slammed against the table with the rather rude remark.

"What happened?" Looker was starting to feel like bringing the new champion on board was a mistake.

"Right after I became champion, one of the world's premier modelling agencies offered me a great deal. I had already been signed with a few different Galar based agencies so a big international one took notice. I was supposed to be their headliner but then I found out they demoted me to second in favor of asking that air-head!"

Looker sighed at her, Marissa constantly rambled on about the tensions in the modelling world but he had not expected someone to be this bitter. He could tell this champion would not be easy to work with.

"Look, I may not understand your beef with Marissa, but this cannot interfere with this mission, the entire world is at stake here."

"I know that, besides I'd be losing out on all those potential hot boyfriends lining up for me."

"Just make sure your personal grudges stay out of it."

"Aye sir." Gloria put her hands behind her head as she leaned back farther still refusing to take her feet off the table.

"Do you have hearts in your eyes?" Looker asked referring to what he saw when she lifted her shades earlier.

"Damn straight, cool eh?" Gloria ut her shades off showing her eyes which were indeed pink with hearts. They were a stark contrast to her otherwise tough personality.

"So do you have a type you specialize in?"

"Poison types, I'm one venomous bitch." Looker just rolled his eyes at her as they fell into an awkward silence.

Elsewhere:

Hawlucha stood across from Guzzlord which had just been called out by Giovanni. Hawlucha had taken some damage from Kartana but he was still raring to go.

"You sure you want to keep going?" Ash asked Hawlucha. He knew the bird wanted to show off more but he did not wish to push him too far. Hawlucha nodded in approval much to Ash's relief. Giovanni smirked at the sight, he was confident he could easily turn it around when he felt like it.

"Guzzlord Dragon Pulse." Guzzlord's first attack was rather sudden as Hawlucha did not have much time to dodge. He quickly rolled out of the way as the blast left a small hole in the ground. Hawlucha got back up and took to the air again.

"Brick Break!" Hawlucha flew towards Guzzlord at full speed, however, his opponent was ready. Once Hawlucha was close enough, Guzzlord used one of its large claws and caught Hawlucha by the leg.

"Hawlucha you have to break free!" Ash called out to Hawlucha who began to try to escape. No matter how much he shook himself he could not break free. Even when he tried hitting the arm that had him trapped, Guzzlord did not flinch. Guzzlord spun Hawlucha around before slamming him into the ground. The impact had enough force that Hawlucha was freed before being indented into the ground. Hawlucha slowly freed himself from the cracked ground and shakily stood back up.

"Hyper Beam!"

"Hawlucha dodge it!" Hawlucha once again dodged just in time by quickly rolling but could not get back up afterwards. Ash realized Hawlucha had sustained more damage from that ground-slam than he had initially thought. He knew Hawlucha wouldn't be able to keep it up much longer. If he chose not to switch him out he would end up being knocked out soon enough. However, if he chose to switch him out, he had no idea how long it may take Hawlucha to get his strength back.

Giovanni smirked at Ash, he could see his see hesitation from a mile away. He was a master at manipulation and psychological warfare. Giovanni knew all too well how important a person's psyche was to battling. He had purposely sent Guzzlord out after Kartana to trip Ash up, it was working even better than he had imagined. If he left Hawlucha in it would be an easy victory for him. On the other side if he switched him out it would be easy to take out later.

"Hawlucha Air Slash!" Guzzlord had enough time to recharge during Ash's hesitation so it easily countered him. As the blast of air surged towards Guzzlord it fired off a Dragon Pulse. The blast ripped through the Air Slash and hit Hawlucha, knocking him out instantly.

Hawlucha laid on the ground unconscious as Giovanni recalled Guzzlord. Ash gave off a sad smile as he recalled Hawlucha. He had no idea if he had made the right decision leaving Hawlucha in, but he had to move on from it now.

"Go Sceptile!"

"Stakataka come out." The massive rock Ultra Beast appeared causing the ground to shake a bit as it landed. Ash knew he would have the advantage with Sceptile's speed, but Stakataka's defense would be a problem. He knew from the invasion earlier that this Ultra Beast had a very impressive defense.

"Sceptile Leaf Blade!" Sceptile sprinted towards Stakataka with a glowing green blade and slashed at Stakataka who just brushed the attack off.

"Rock Polish." He had been hoping Stakataka would not use that move. In an instant his speed advantage began to vanish. The Ultra Beast's defense was already a problem, now he had something else to worry about.

"Stealth Rock!" Ash gritted his teeth at that. Jagged rocks flew across the field and laid in wait for his next Pokemon. Those were certain to become problematic, unless he got rid of them first.

"Sceptile Agility!" Since Stakataka increased its speed, there was no harm in Sceptile raising his speed. Sceptile began speeding around getting faster and faster. Ash was confident that Sceptile would still be able to outspeed Stakataka.

"Leaf Blade!" Sceptile ran towards Stakataka at a blistering speed, however, Stakataka was able to dodge thanks to its increased speed.

"Rock Blast!" As Stakataka slid to the side avoiding the attack it blasted rocks at Sceptile who slid to a stop. He quickly turned around and used his leaf blade to slice through the incoming rocks.

"Energy Ball!" As Sceptile sliced through the last rock he sent a ball of green energy at Stakataka. It hit the Ultra Beast but it barely flinched.

"Heavy Slam." With surprising speed Stakataka launched itself up into the air before falling straight towards Sceptile. The grass type quickly side-stepped out of the way as Stakataka crashed into the ground with tremendous force. Both Ash and Sceptile were glad the attack was easy enough to dodge, neither one would want to be on the receiving end of an attack like that.

"Sceptile Leaf Storm!"

"Stakataka take it." Stakataka stood perfectly still enduring the brunt of the attack. It was pushed back slightly but showed no sign of pain.

"Ancient Power." Large rocks erupted from the ground and few towards Sceptile who was still a decent distance away.

"Bullet Seed!" Maintaining his distance Sceptile shot a stream of sharp seeds at the approaching rocks. The seeds tore right through as the roks broke apart into harmless pebbles. However, Stakataka took the chance to charge straight at Sceptile with its increased speed. Its body shined as it prepared for another Heavy Slam. Sceptile was just barely able to dodge in time as Stalataka just grazed his tail by an inch. Side-stepping Sceptile twisted his body landing a Leaf Blade on Stakataka. Stakataka flew further away from Sceptile thanks to the momentum of its attack before skidding to a stop near the edge of the field.

"Earth Power!" Stakataka slammed the ground with its feet as large jagged stalactites popped out of the ground. Sceptile seeing this as his chance swiftly jumped on top of them one after another. He used this to close in on Stakataka without touching the ground. As he landed on the last one he jumped high into the air.

"Leaf Storm!" Ash knew what Sceptile was thinking considering how close Stakataka was to the edge of the field. The large blast of leaves did a decent amount of damage upon impact but it also pushed Stakataka past the edge of the field. The Ultra Beast stumbled before being grabbed by some vines.

Giovanni was surprised by this," when did you do that?"

"When Sceptile laned that previous Leaf Blade he planted a Leech Seed as well," Ash answered as the seed began sapping Stakataka's energy.

"Sneaky but effective," Giovanni admitted as Stakataka was immobilized.

"Sceptile Energy Ball." Stakataka was still trapped so it had no choice but to take the attack. Thanks to the energy sapping, it was finally starting to show some wear. Stakataka managed to finally break free of the vines but it already had a decent amount of energy drained.

"Rock Polish." Stakataka's initial speed boost had worn off so it began to ramp up its speed once more.

"Agility!" Sceptile began speeding around again, thanks to his natural speed he was still faster than Stakataka. Stakataka sped around trying to catch up to Sceptile but he kept zipping away.

"Frenzy Plant!" Sceptile slid to a stop before summoning large vines from the ground. Stakataka tried to avoid them but even with its increased speed it failed. The vines grabbed hold of it and tightened preventing it from escaping. Stakataka tried to break free but to no avail.

"Solar Beam!" Stakataka could do nothing but watch Sceptile gather energy before launching the powerful blast right at it. The vines disintegrated and Stakataka fell unconscious.

Ash let out a sigh of relief, he was glad he managed to finally take Stakataka down. Giovanni returned the Ultra Beast before sending out a Xurkitree.

"Sceptile let's keep this up!" Sceptile nodded opting to keep battling.

"Xurkitree Electric Terrain." Xurkitree slammed its tendrils into the ground as it began to glow yellow crackling with electricity.

"Looks like it's powering up, watch out," Ash warned Sceptile who nodded in return.

"Zap Cannon." A large ball of electricity shot out from Xurkitree's tendrils. It grew larger crackling with even more electricity thanks to the terrain.

"Energy Ball!" Sceptile fired back but his attack was cancelled out by Xurkitree's attack. He quickly dodged as the ball of electricity flew past him before fizzling out.

"Charge Beam!"

"Sceptile dodge it!" Sceptile sidestepped the next attack before it felt something grab one of his legs. Both Ash and Sceptile saw one of Xurkitree's tendrils holding on of his legs in place.

"Thunderbolt." Sceptile could not escape so he took the full attack. Electricity coursed through his body as he convulsed from the powerful shock. The shock died down a few seconds later as he was brought to one knee.

"Sceptile can you get up?" Sceptie nodded and slowly got back up.

"Discharge." Xurkitree shot large waves of electricity everywhere making it impossible for Sceptile to dodge as he was shocked again.

"Sceptile Leaf Blade!" Sceptile shook of the pain as he charged towards Xurkitree. However, Xurkitree used its tendrils to grab Sceptile once again.

"Thunderbolt." Xurkitree shocked Sceptile once again as he could not escape.

Sceptile endured the pain before locking eyes with Xurkitree," Leech Seed!" Xurkitree could not dodge this as it was focused on holding Sceptile in place. The seeds planted themselves onto Xurkitree and began to sprout. The vines wrapped themselves around Xurkitree causing its grip on Sceptile to loosen enough for him to escape. The seeds began snapping Xurkitree's energy and revitalizing Sceptile.

"Charge Beam!" Xurkitree was still being held in place by the vines as it blated a beam of electricity at Sceptile.

"Agility!" Sceptile sped out of the way and began running circles around Xurkitree creating afterimages in his wake.

"Shockwave!" The still immobilized Xurkitree generated a wave of electricity which Sceptile easily jumped over.

"Frenzy Plant!" Sceptile crashed his tail into the ground and vines broke through the floor before colliding with Xurkitree who was even more trapped now.

"Break through it with Wild Charge!" Xurkitree attempted to blast through the large vines but it failed to do so.

Sceptile was given enough time to recharge thanks to Xurkitree's immobility," Solar beam!" Wth Xurkitree trapped Sceptile had enough time to charge and unleash the attack. It hit Xurkitree at full force. The attack with all the damage from before was enough to knock the Ultra Beast out.

"Way to go Sceptile," Ash congratulated him as Giovanni recalled Xurkitree.

"That's quite a powerful Pokemon, I'm starting to see why my agents are having such a hard time with you and your friends." Giovanni recalled Xurkitree as Sceptile remained on the field. Giovanni was not worried just yet as he still had some tricks up his sleeve.

"You sure you want to keep going?" Ash asked to which Sceptile nodded.

"Blacephalon your turn." An Ultra Beast Ash had not seen yet appeared. It was rather bizarre looking to both him and Sceptile.

"Careful we have no idea what this one is like." Sceptle nodded as he glared at the strange ball headed Ultra Beast. He only had to take down three more to end this, though he knew it was not going to be easy.
