Chapter 62: Club Snubbed

In the Butterfly Castle...

Star wore a short dress with a puffy periwinkle blue top and round blue sleeves with lace on the bottoms, a dark blue skirt with a pink covering and white lace on the bottom, and a white ribbon around the waist, and small pink heeled shoes with white knee socks. Star's hair was up in two side buns with dark blue lace around them, tiny curls over her ears and a tiny gold tiara with a pink heart in the center.

Serena wore a strapless red dress with a darker red waistband and dark red orange frills. On the right side of her head she wore a small red hair ribbon clip with orange frills and red shoes beneath.

Star and Serena rushed downstairs and arrived into the ballroom.

The members of the other kingdoms were walking in and the princes and princesses were taking there seats.

The two girls took their seats in the center of the ballroom.

"That was close."Star stated.

"Good thing, we didn't waste time."Serena added.

"Hey Rena."Pony Head greeted smugly. "You dressing to impress someone tonight?"

"No."Serena replied simply as she crossed her arms and leaned in her chair.

Once everybody was seated, Queen Moon stood up holding up a bell.

Queen Moon Butterfly was ringing a hand bell.

"Kingdoms of Mewni, each year we hold this dance to celebrate the peace between us."Queen Moon remarked. "Welcome to the Silver Bell Ball."

King River started clapping while everyone else remained silent.

"Whoa! Yeah-ha-ha!"King River cheered. "Wahoo! Woop! Yeah!"

"The rules of the ball are the same as always."Queen Moon stated. "Each royal heir will dance with all the others, representing the bonds between our kingdoms."

"Their kingdom got taken over by rats."King Spiderbite whispered. "Ehw."

"How could they let that happen?"Queen Spiderbite questioned quietly.

"Hey! Hey!"King River snapped angrily. "They were big rats."

"I am not legitimate or even a heir and I still have to take part in this lame party every year."Serena thought with a frown.

Pony Head floated over to Star and Serena.

"Ooh, girls."Pony Head said and looked at the Princes. "Okay, okay. What do you think of the line-up this year? Be honest."

"It's just the same bunch of borings as every year, Pony."Star replied.

"Emm, okay, that's fine, but, like, check out Prince Larry Kelpbottom."Pony Head remarked. "Mm-hmm, okay. It's like somebody came up and hit him with a hottie stick."

"Yeah, I guess it is kinda cool to see everyone again."Star commented and looked over Serena. "Hey, Princess Jaggs."

"Hey."Princess Jaggs said with a wave.

"Hi, Princess Penelope."Serena greeted looking over Pony Head.

"Hello."Princess Penelope responded.

"Oh, look, there's your annoying cousin."Pony Head said.

"Yeah. Guess I should say hi."Star suggested and waved at Rock. "Hi, Rock."

Rock was busy typing on his phone.

"Hi, Rock, your cousin, over here."Star greeted a little louder. "Rock Johansen."

Rock glanced at Star, then back to his phone.

"Okay well, he hasn't changed."Star said and looked at Rich Pigeon. "Oh, looks like Rich Pigeon got himself some new legs."

Serena notice a fifteen year old boy sitting with the other princes.

He had black raven coloured hair, hazel eyes and pale skin. He wore a dark blue jacket, red pants with a gold stripe, golden belt and black boots.

"Pony Head, who's that?"Serena asked.

"Oh that hottie is Prince Vincent."Pony Head replied. "His from Zandorya. You know one of the kingdoms past the creepy mountains."

A grin grew on Pony Head's face.

"Well, he does look kind of cute."Star remarked.

"I guess he is..."Serena complemented.

"Rena are you getting a crush on the new guy?"Pony Head asked with a smirk.

"Pony Head, I have Kevin remember?"Serena reminded firmly.

"Sorry."Pony Head snickered.

Pony Head sees an empty chair.

"Ooh, somebody's missing, Star."Pony Head chuckled.

"Yep."Star said with a frown. "He's always late."

"Well this is where you two met, isn't it?"Pony Head asked.

Star nodded. "Mm-hmm."

"Drama."Pony Head responded.

Star didn't respond and had her arms crossed.

"Drama!"Pony Head called out.

Pony Head looked at Star, who remains unresponsive.

"Drama, drama, drama, drama, drama, drama..."Pony Head repeated.

Star clamped Pony Head's muzzle closed.

"Pony, no drama this year."Star admitted. "I told my parents was gonna focus on the princess biz like Rena."

"Oh, come on, you're the bomb at shakin' up these dusty old traditions, girl."Pony Head remarked.

"Not this year."Star stated.

"Oh, come on."Pony Head encouraged.

"No."Star replied.

"Come on."Pony Head begged.

"No, Pony."Star said. "Seriously."

"Oh, Did you not hear me when I said come on?"Pony Head asked.

Pony Head pushed herself against Star's face.

"Come on, come on."Pony Head admitted.

"I'm serious."Star replied.

"Shhhhhhhhhhh!"Queen Moon hushed.

"I've caused a lot of trouble this summer."Star said. "It's time to be a better princess."

Suddenly the door burned down to reveal Tom Lucitor wearing the same white tuxedo that he wore in the Blood Moon Ball and sunglasses.

"Sunglasses at night."Star commented. "Classy."

"Announcing the arrival of Prince Thomas Lucitor."Manfred announced.

"Hey, everybody."Tom said.

"And his parents, Lord and Lady Lucitor, of the underworld."Manfred stated.

Wrathmelior walked across the room and snorted as her horns scrape the chandelier.

She eventually takes her seat along with her husband.

"Hello, Wrathmelior."King River greeted and looked at King Dave. "Hi, Dave."

"Hey."King Dave replied.

"Will the dancers please stand for the commencement bow?"Manfred asked.

All the princes and princesses take their bows.

Tom bowed to Rich Pigeon.

Star gasped. "Did you just see that?"

"Oh ho ho, yes! Ooh, I think the whole room saw that."Pony Head chuckled. "Girl, you're getting club-snubbed."

"Oh, no...wait."Star said. "What is that?"

"Oh, I don't know, it's just the best way to get someone all up in your business, watch."Pony Head explained and then shouted across the ball room. "Hey, Kelpbottom!"

Prince Kelpbottom grinned and gestured to himself.

"Kelpbottom! No, no, not you! Not you!"Pony Head responded. "The handsome one!"

"You hear that, honey?"King Kelpbottom asked. "I'm the handsome one."

King Pony Head snorted with a frown on his face.

"Pony, what the...I thought you liked him."Star said.

"Oh, I do, I do."Pony Head remarked. "But listen, the more you ignore somebody, the more they fall deeply in love with you. That's like science. It's scientific or something like that."

Prince Kelpbottom made his way over to Pony Head and sniffed her mane.

"Ugh, okay. Can you please give me some space, 'cause I really need that from you, okay? Thank you. Bye-bye."Pony Head stated and looked at Star. "It works every time."

"Weird."Star mumbled.

"Yep."Serena agreed with a nod.

"Let the first dance begin."Queen Moon announced and rang the bell.

No one stood up.

"Ahem."Manfred coughed and cleared his throat. "Anyone?"

Manfred notice Tom stood up from his seat and was going up to Star.

"Oh, my."Manfred said with a smile. "It seems Prince Thomas has taken the initiative and he appears to be walking towards Princess Star. Star and Thomas have always been the best dancers at every Silver Bell Ball, and we all know they had a very tumultuous relationship before breaking up last year."

"Manfred."Star groaned covering her face.

"May I have this dance..."Tom started.

"Well, all right."Star sighed and let out her hand. "Let's do this."

"Princess Serena?"Tom asked.

Some of the Kings and Queens gasped.

Star in shock looked over at Serena, who blinked in surprise.

"Sure, let's get this over with."Serena said simply.

"You look lovely today."Tom admitted with a smile.

"Umm...thanks?"Serena replied with a hint of confusion.

The two player orchestra began playing causing Tom and Serena to dance together.

"Well, this is a surprising turn of events. No mistake."Manfred stated. "At the previous Silver Bell Balls, Tom has always chosen Princess Star first to dance."

Tom refused to look at Star as he danced with Serena.

A few flames and glowing purple clovers appeared beneath Tom and Serena as they danced with each other.

"Pony, I think I am getting club-snubbed."Star whispered.

"Ooh, this is some next-level club-snubbing."Pony Head remarked. "He wants you bad, girl."

"Ugh, Tom always does this. When is he gonna realize I am not interested?"Star questioned. "Okay, calm yourself, Star. You're a princess, for goodness sake."

Tom kissed Serena's hand causing the orange haired girl to blush a little.

"Oh, it's on."Star said bitterly.

Queen Moon rang her bell again.

Star gets up to take her first dance and walked up to Tom.

"Hmm, let's see, let's see."Star replied and pointed at Rich Pigeon. "I choose you."

"Oh, oh, oh!"Pony Head chuckled.

"Oh, Princess Star has chosen Prince Rich Pigeon as her first dance partner."Manfred commented. "Could there be a new romance waiting in the wings?"

"Oh, Richard."Star laughed. "I had no idea you were such a good dancer."

Rich coos as his weight pulled Star and himself to the ground.

Queen Moon rings her bell and Star takes her seat.

"Good job, girl."Pony Head remarked.

"Mm-hmm, that oughta show him."Star muttered.

Tom and Kelpbottom laughed with each other.

Star growled in frustration.

The musicians began to play as Tom chooses to dance with Princess Penelope causing Star to gasp.

Serena danced with Prince Vincent, who turned out to be a good dancer just like Tom.

Star takes the next turn and picked to dance with Princess Penelope in an attempt to annoy Tom.

The evening dances continued.

Pony head also joined in the fun by refusing to pick Kelpbottom.

Star grows more and more angry but Tom continued to play it cool.

Queen Butterfly rings her bell.

"At last, the dancers have completed the ceremony, and are seated with their parents."Manfred chuckled. "All except Star and Thomas."

King River looked at King Dave.

"They're saving the best for last."King River commented.

Both kings laughed nervously.

"Come on, Star."Queen Moon begged. "Dance with him."

Star stomped angrily over to Tom.

"May I have this dance...Manfred?"Star asked.

Everyone in the ballroom gasped.

"Oh, dear."Queen Moon mumbled covering face.

"Oh, snap!"Pony Head laughed while eating popcorn.

Serena sighed. "Oh boy."

"No one has ever asked me to dance."Manfred admitted happily.

The pair began to dance.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Star has asked me, Manfred, to the dance floor."Manfred announced. "I feel like I'm in a dream."

"Your daughter just club-snubbed my son."King Dave accused.

"Your son's been club-snubbing my daughter all night!"King River snapped.

"My son is a gentleman!"King Dave argued.

"My daughter is a delicate flower."King River admitted.

"Delicate flower?"King Dave repeated. "Let's see how delicate a flower you are!"

Tom walked out of the hall slowly, sadly looking at star.

"Oh, unbelievable!"Star groaned.

The two kings continued to fight as Star followed Tom outside.

"Oh, No-no-no-no-no, you do not get to make sad eyes at me. This is your fault."Star retorted with a glare. "Look, I still don't wanna date you. I have been through a lot lately, and what I really need is a friend. But all you wanna do is play your little childish games."

"Games?"Tom questioned.

"Oh, don't act all innocent, you club-snubber."Star responded.

"What? Star, I was there on Song Day."Star admitted. "I-I know you're with Marco now."

"Oh, Ruberiot."Star muttered covering her face. "That song is gonna haunt me for the rest of my life."

"No, no. It was a huge wake-up call."Tom complemented. "I finally realized you're not into me. So during the dance, I wanted to do the right thing, and give you space. If-if you'd asked to dance, I totally would've, but...I wanted it to be your choice."

"Okay, first of all, me and Marco, not a thing."Star reminded.

"Really?"Tom asked with a smile.

"Hey, not the point."Star stated. "Second of all, giving me space doesn't mean pretending I don't exist. That's just rude."

"I was just trying to do the right thing."Tom commented.

"Well it would've been nice if you didn't ignore me all night."Star said with a frown.

"I don't know how to be nice!"Tom growled. "At least give me credit for trying! This wasn't easy!"

Tom fire blasted his horse drawn carriage.

Star castes a cloudy charm spell and rose up towards Tom.

"You're being really dramatic!"Star snapped.

"Whatever, Star!"Tom shouted. "You know I was just trying to give you what you want!"

"This isn't what I want!"Star admitted.

A window breaks as a chair from inside is thrown outside and lands in between Tom and Star.

The two of them look inside to see their fathers fighting physically.

"Look what you did!"King River snapped. "You're paying for that chair!"

"I'll pay for the chair when you pay for all the damage Toffee caused!"King Dave replied."I'm starting to rethink being allies with your kingdom!"

"Oh, why don't you just crawl back into that little hole you came out of?"King River insulted.

"Please, everyone, settle down."Queen Moon ordered.

The bird royalty started to coo.

"How could they let that happen?"Queen Spiderbite asked.

Star groaned in frustration and walks back over to Tom.

"Tom, may I have this dance?"Star asked.

"I'd be delighted."Tom responded bitterly.

The two of them scoffed at each other and began to dance.

As Tom and Star waltz around the ballroom, the two started to enjoy themselves and their fathers stopped fighting.

The magic between them creates a beautiful spiral of flames and pink butterflies that moved everyone in the room.

"Aw, look at 'em go."King River cried.

Tom and Star went back down to the floor while looking at each other.

Queen Moon eventually rings her bell to end the dance.

Tom and Star continued looking into each other's eyes.

"Um, Star?"Tom asked. "We should probably stop dancing."

"Oh, yeah. Yeah."Star said softly and let go of Tom's hands. "Right. Right."

Queen Moon stopped ringing her bell.

"And this concludes the Silver Bell Ball."Queen Moon announced with a smile.

The royal families applauded while Queen Lucitor Wrathmelior lets out some fiery tears.

"Awwww."Queen Wrathmelior grumbled happily.

Prince Vincent walked up to Serena.

"Princess Serena, hi."Prince Vincent greeted. "My name is Vincent, Prince of Zandorya. It's an honour to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too, Vincent."Serena replied while blushing and shook Vincent's hand. "I'm Serena, but you can call me Rena."

"Beautiful."Vincent admitted.

Star talked with Tom.

"I forgot what a good dancer you are."Star said with a shy smile.

"Yeah, thanks."Tom remarked. "So, um, would you maybe wanna get a corn shake sometime?"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah."Star answered. "I could do that."

Pony Head along with the princes and other princesses run between the pair while heading out the door.

"Beep beep. Excuse us. Look at me, Star, Rena."Pony Head replied. "Ooh, it's a new club-snub record."

"Pony Head, wait up!"Serena protested rushing after Pony Head with Vincent.

Star and Tom burst out laughing.
