Chapter 63: Stranger Danger

In Mewni Castle...

"Rena!"Star called out. "Could you help me with Glossaryck?!"

Serena got up from her bed, putting her book down.

The orange haired girl walked over to the railing and saw that Glossaryck was rocking in his high chair again with the bowl of pudding teetering in the edge.

"Fine."Serena responded. "But it's not my chore to feed him."

Serena walked up behind Glossaryck's chair and held it down.

Star picked up the spoonful of pudding to feed it to Glossaryck.

"Ready, Glossaryck?"Star asked as she made airplane noises. "Here comes the airplane."

"Globgor, Globgor."Glossaryck responded.

"Come on, Glossaryck."Star encouraged. "Be a good boy."

Glossaryck throws the bowl of pudding at Star's face.

Serena burst out laughing, falling to the floor.

Star wiped her face and glared at Serena.

"Glossaryck, what have I told you?"Star questioned with a frown. "We express ourselves with our words, not our pudding."

Glossaryck tilted his chair over before jumping out and taking off running on all fours.

"Globgor!"Glossaryck said.

"Oh, Glossaryck."Star responded as she took out something from the cupboard. "Here, boy. Do you wanna..."

"Globgor?"Glossaryck asked.

"...go for a walk?"Star finished and holds up a leash.

Glossaryck smiled. "Globgor!"

Serena used her magic to make the leash tie onto Glossaryck.

"Nice one, Rena."Star remarked.

"Thanks."Serena said simply.

Glossaryck started running on the leash and Star was struggling to keep up with Serena following after them.

"Glossaryck, slow down!"Star protested.

"Globgor, Globgor!"Glossaryck repeated.

Glossaryck stopped running and stood next to a painting causing Star to catch her breath.

Serena ran around the corner and over to Star.

"Glossaryck, what the heck?"Serena scowled.

Glossaryck sniffed a painting and holds up his leg as if he were about to urinate on it.

"Stop that, bad Glossaryck!"Star snapped. "Are we gonna have to go back into the diaper, 'cause I will do it."

Glossaryck sees a squirrelicorn and takes off running.

"Globgor!"Glossaryck said happily.

Glossaryck started running causing Star to get dragged.

"Aaaaah, Glossaryck!"Star shouted.

The leash ripped as Glossaryck jumped out the window.

"Globgor!"Glossaryck replied.

"Get back here, you weirdo!"Serena demanded.

Glossaryck continued pursuit of the squirrelicorn in the royal garden outside.

He chased it through a rose bush and leaped into the air after it, but was then caught by a gloved arm.

Star and Serena rushed to the garden where Glossaryck was held by a woman.

The woman had pale skin, poofy teal hair, mauve eyes and red spade-shaped marks on her cheeks. She wore a long, dark purple gothic-themed dress with a brown ring at the waist and black flats with pale purple socks.

"We are so sorry about your roses, miss."Serena apologised.

"Yeah, he'd...oh!"Star said nervously.

"Oh don't worry. They're just flowers."Eclipsa assured with a smile. "It's not like they're something really cool, like a squirrelicorn."

She looked at Glossaryck.

"Isn't that right?"Eclipsa asked.

"Globgor!"Glossaryck replied. "Globgor, Globgor!"

Eclipsa poked Glossaryck's forehead jewel, causing it to light up and he became less hyper.

"Whoa..."Serena said in surprise.

"How did you do that, and teach it to me now."Star ordered in awe.

Serena and Star walked up to Eclipsa.

Eclipsa chuckled. "He just looked like he needed a little head scratch."

"Globgor."Glossaryck whispered quietly.

"You know, once in a while, you've got to slow down and appreciate the feeling of a nice head scratch, or the smell of a freshly bloomed rose."Eclipsa complemented as she takes out a chocolate bar. "Or the taste of a delicious candy bar."

Eclipsa eats the chocolate candy and throws the wrapper into a bucket filled with many similar wrappers.

"I might have some self-control issues."Eclipsa said.

Serena, Star and Eclipsa laughed.

"Yeah, us too."Star remarked.

"Have we met you before?"Serena asked in curiosity. "You look so familiar."

"Maybe. I used to visit this garden a lot."Eclipsa admitted and pointed at the old rose tower that was covered in ivy and vines. "Oh-oh, have you been to the Rose Tower? The view of the garden is absolutely divine."

"Oh, no, no, no, no, no."Star replied and shook her head. "That's been condemned for forever."

"Besides there are parts in this castle that we aren't allowed to go ourselves."Serena commented with a frown.

"Well, don't let that stop you."Eclipsa stated with a smirk.

Serena smiled while Star giggled.

"Hey, if you're around tonight, you should come to the royal dinner."Star suggested.

"Oh, that sounds delightful."Eclipsa responded. "But I may have other plans."

"Aw."Star chuckled. "You got a hot date?"

"Something like that."Eclipsa complemented.

Suddenly Queen Moon and the Magic High Commission burst down the castle door and enter the garden.

"Star!"Queen Moon shouted. "Serena!"

"Mum?"Star said.

"Aunt Moon?"Serena asked.

Omnitraxus Prime smashed his way to Eclipsa and pinned her to the wall.

"Omnitraxus!"Star called out.

Rhombulus and the other guards run over to Eclipsa, pointing their spears at her.

"What is going on here?"Serena demanded.

Queen Moon rushed up to the two girls, hugging them tightly.

"Girls, are you okay?"Queen Moon asked worriedly. "Did she hurt you?"

"What? No. No one hurt me."Star replied. "We were just talking to that nice lady."

"Nice lady?"Queen Moon said and narrowed her eyes at Eclipsa. "Girls, that's Eclipsa."

"Oh long time, no speak, Moon."Eclipsa greeted with a smirk. "How did that spell work out for you?"

"Not another word out of you, Eclipsa!"Queen Moon ordered with a glare.

Star and Serena became shocked knowing that they just met the Queen of Darkness.

In a Lab...

Star and Serena were shoved into an science lab shower, where the Magical High Commission doused them both with water.

"That's Eclipsa!?"Star asked in surprise.

"No wonder she looked so familiar."Serena commented.

"Please hold still as we decontaminate you two."Hekapoo said.

Hekapoo turned the shower head on again, soaking the two girls with water.

Star growled in annoyance while Serena shivered.

Hekapoo pulled out an otoscope and flashed it in Star's eyes then mine.

"Look into the light, please."Hekapoo stated.

"What?"Star asked.

"Uh, to check for spots of evil."Hekapoo answered.

"Spots of evil?"Serena asked in disbelief.

"Well, there's no telling what Eclipsa might have done to you."Hekapoo said.

"Stop it."Star ordered. "I am telling you, Eclipsa didn't do anything to me or Rena. We are fine."

Rhombulus pulled up a wheel chair and bumped Star into it while Serena landed on her cousin's lap.

"Hey, what are you-"Serena started.

Rhombulus dumped the girls onto the floor and they both fell, Star landing on Serena.

Star quickly got up and helped Serena up.

Rhombulus handed each of the girls an eye paddle.

"Cover your left eye with the paddle, and read the lines as best you can."Omnitraxus instructed.

Serena rolled her eyes and did what she was told.

"I-A-M-E-V-I- what no you don't."Star said with a frown. "That just spells I am evil."

"That was, like, totally an admission!"Rhombulus retorted with his snake hands hissing.

"No, she was right. This is rigged."Serena said bitterly. "I was reading the thing too."

Hekapoo came over and brought Star and Serena to a medical table.

Hekapoo checked Star's arms while a monkey checked Serena's hair.

"Skin check."Hekapoo said and looked at Star's arm. "Oh, dear. Have you always had this mole?"

"Yes, but it doesn't make me evil."Star reminded. "Just a little self-conscious sometimes."

"And why is there a monkey checking my hair?"Serena questioned.

"To check for evil fleas."Hekapoo responded.

"Evil fleas?"Serena said raising an eyebrow.

The monkey started screeching.

"He found something."Hekapoo admitted.

The monkey takes out a flea from Serena's hair and eats it.

"Never mind."Hekapoo stated. "He says they're just regular fleas."

Serena frowned. "I knew that."

Hekapoo brought the two girls over to a large operating table.

"Stand here."Hekapoo instructed.

Star and Serena stood side by side.

"Arms down."Hekapoo said.

The princesses each kept their arms to their sides as Hekapoo strapped them to the table.

"Hey! What?"Star scowled in frustration. "Do you even know what you're doing?"

Rhombulus and Hekapoo placed two probes on Star's hearts and two probes over Serena's roses.

"No, but we still gotta do a test."Rhombulus responded before screaming at the girls. "Are you evil?!"

"No!"Star groaned.

Serena sighed in annoyance.

The machine buzzed and displayed signals.

"Mm-hmm, mm-hmm."Hekapoo mumbled while writing something down on a clipboard.

"Are you evil, are you evil, are you evil?"Rhombulus repeated.

Queen Moon came into the lab.

"Are they all right?"Queen Moon asked as she walked up to the girls.

"Completely fine, Aunt Moon."Serena said with a frown. "We talked to Eclipsa for, like, a minute and she was really nice. No big deal."

"It could be a very big deal."Queen Moon replied firmly.

"Okay, fine, but why?"Star asked.

"Star, she betrayed her kingdom."Queen Moon said. "She abandoned her people so she could run off with a monster."

"Mm-hmm, yes, right. We knew that. Kinda selfish."Star commented simply. "Okay, then what? She blew everything up?"

"No."Queen Moon answered. "They crystallised her before she had the chance."

"Wa-wa-wait, you crystallised her for being in love?"Star said sadly.

"To a monster."Queen Moon commented. "And that's not all. She didn't respect the natural order. She meddled in the dark arts and created her own chapter of dangerous evil magic."

"Have you ever even read it?"Star asked.

Queen Moon scoffed. "Of course not."

"Well we have and it really wasn't that big of a deal."Star admitted.

"Yeah, you can't judge a person by their own chapter."Serena agreed.

"Ugh."Queen Moon grumbled and looked at the Magical High Commission. "Chime in any time, guys. You knew her, too."

"Uh, I mean, I saw her double-dipping in the ranch at the royal ball once."Hekapoo said.

"She told me she thought Rhombulus was annoying."Omnitraxus stated.

"Can you believe it?!"Rhombulus shouted.

"Yes."Star and Serena said bluntly.

"Oh, yeah."Rhombulus added in realisation. "She totally used to eat babies!"

"Nope, nope, that wasn't Eclipsa."Hekapoo corrected. "That was Bobipsa, the barbarian baby eater."

"Are you calling me a liar?!"Rhombulus accused angrily.

"I'm pretty sure Eclipsa was a pescatarian."Omnitraxus suggested.

"Okay, guys, as fascinating and fact-filled as this conversation is, I'm feeling kinda done."Star stated in boredom. "And I bet the same goes for Rena. The tests says we are fine."

"Girls, please, these tests are for your own good."Queen Moon reminded.

"Ugh! We are good! And, it sounds like Eclipsa didn't deserve to be crystallised!"Serena retorted. "I mean, what's next, you gonna crystallise me if I do something you don't approve of? Or Star if she doesn't do something that is queen material?"

Queen Moon looked at the Magical Commission.

"Give us the room."Queen Moon ordered.

The others leave as Queen Moon unstrapped Star and Serena from the operating table.

"You know, when I first met Eclipsa, I trusted her, too. I didn't know any better."Queen Moon stated. "Truthfully, Star and Serena, you're both very capable for your age, but–"

"Then why won't anyone listen to us?"Serena questioned coldly.

"It's complicated. Eclipsa can be very...convincing."Queen Moon said. "For your safety girls, let me handle this."

"So what are you gonna do?"Star asked.

"I'm afraid the only option is immediate re-crystallisation."Queen Moon admitted.

"You can't do that!"Serena protested. "She's one of yours and Star's great-grandmas!"

"That's so harsh."Star agreed. "You can't just go crystallising–"

"This isn't a debate, girls."Queen Moon said as she stood up and walked out of the lab. "I gave my orders to the Magic High Commission and they're on their way to her cell as we speak. She's to be re-crystallised immediately."

Queen Moon exited the room.

"Oh-ho-ho, we'll see about that."Star whispered.

"For once I agree with you, Star."Serena stated.

The two girls got down from the operating table and they rushed out into the hallway of the clinic.

Star found the room where her wand was but also where Glossaryck was too.

Serena focused her magic on the door and unlocked it.

Star rushed in to grab her wand, but Glossaryck grabbed it.

"Globgor!"Glossaryck shouted.

shouted, before flying out of the room and down the hallway.

"Quick!"Star said. "Catch him!"

Star and Serena rushed after Glossaryck, trying to catch him.

Glossaryck stopped and blew a raspberry at the girls.

"No, Glossaryck!"Star warned with a frown. "We have to save Eclipsa!"

Serena grabbed Glossaryck and quickly put him on a leash.

The orange haired tossed Star the wand.

"Super sparkle cloudy!"Star chanted.

Cloudy appeared and giggled.

Star and Serena jumped onto Cloudy as he zipped down the hallway.

The four race down the hallway, catching up to the Magical High Commission as they opened the door, revealing Eclipsa chained to the wall.

"I'm gonna enjoy this."Rhombulus commented.

"Rhombulus, no!"Serena shouted. "Wait!"

Star crashed into Rhombulus as he fired his crystal blast, causing it to ricochet off the walls, floor and ceiling.

The group carefully dodged the loose spell blast.

"Oh geez."Rhombulus said.

"Turn it off!"Hekapoo called out.

The spell hits Rhombulus in his butt, causing small crystals to grow out of it.

"Ahhhggg! Ow! OWIE!"Rhombulus groaned. "Great...now I got crystals growing outta my–"

"Well, girls, you've caused quite the ruckus."Queen Moon said in disappointment.

"Will you all just listen to us for one second?"Star suggested. "Crystallising people is a serious punishment, and so far, no one has been able to convince us that Eclipsa deserves it."

"Girls, I know Eclipsa seems nice, but she can get into your head and make you do things you don't want to do."Queen Moon commented.

"Oh, my goodness, you're right."Star agreed with fake sarcasm. "Giving you that spell to destroy Toffee was her idea. Oh, no, wait. You were the one who went to her for help."

"All right, yes, but..."Queen Moon started.

"And you made a deal with her. When jerk face was destroyed, she'd be set free."Serena added. "Well, hey, news flash everybody, jerk face is gone and now you want go back on your word?"

"But girls, look what her spell did to me."Queen Moon replied.

The Queen of Mewni takes over her right glove, revealing her purple hand and darkened veins.

"When I performed that spell, I could feel the darkness."Queen Moon explained with a hint of fear. "Eclipsa is evil, girls. I know you don't believe it now, but if you wait to find out the truth for yourself, it'll be too late."

"Okay, fine."Star answered. "If she is as bad as you say she is, then put her in a crystal. But she at least deserves to have a fair trial."

"Oh, for goodness sake, fine."Queen Moon groaned. "We'll have a trial!"

"Ah, Yes!"Star cheered. "Due process, due process."

Serena sighed in relief.

"But I'm only allowing this because I want there to be no doubt amongst anyone in Mewni."Queen Moon responded with a frown. "I'm looking at you two, girls—that Eclipsa is evil and deserves her fate."

"See Eclipsa?"Star asked confidently. "Around here, we believe in a little thing called the justice system."

Queen Moon and the Magical High Commission began to leave.

"Hey, where are you going?"Serena asked.

"Well it's going to take a little time to get the trial all set up."Queen Moon said.

"What?"Serena said with a glare. "No, you can't just leave her chained up in this dark and smelly dungeon."

"You know, I always did enjoy gazing at the roses."Eclipsa stated with a smile.

A While Later...

Star and Serena rushed to the Rose Tower, watching their steps over the broken tiles and roots.

The young princesses arrived to the door of Eclipsa's room that was guarded.

"Oh hello, your majesties."the guard greeted.

"Stand aside."Star ordered.

The guard stood aside and the other began unlocking the multi-locked door.

Star sighed and just opened all the locks with her wand.

The guard glanced at the girls before stepping aside.

Star and Serena walked in and saw Eclipsa looking out the window.

"Star, Serena."Eclipsa said with a smile. "I was hoping you'd–"

Star held out her wand while Serena held out her cane.

"Don't move."Serena stated. "We're gonna need some answers. Did you or did you not mess with dark magic?"

"Well...I did what I had to do for me."Eclipsa replied simply. "If the Magic High Commission and your mother think that's evil, call me a villainess."

Serena raised an eyebrow at the former Queen of Mewni.

"Wait. Are you in our minds?"Star questioned. "They said you could be in our minds and we wouldn't even know."

"Definitely not."Eclipsa commented. "But if I were, I wouldn't tell either of you."

Star and Serena stared at Eclipsa in silence.

"That's a joke."Eclipsa assured.

"Oh, it wasn't very funny."Star laughed nervously. "But that's okay, cause..."

Star reached for a brown bag and opened it to reveal Glossaryck.

"Globgor."Glossaryck answered. "Globgor!"

Glossaryck jumped on to Eclipsa's face.

"Glossaryck!"Eclipsa remarked and grabbed Glossaryck. "Good to see you."

"Globgor!"Glossaryck replied.

"He's, uh, he's been kind of a handful lately."Star chuckled. "Could you maybe do that little crystal-y tickly thing again?"

"Are you sure?"Eclipsa asked.

"Globgor, Globgor."Glossaryck repeated.

"I might corrupt him."Eclipsa warned.

"What?!"Star said in shock.

"That was another joke, right?"Serena said hopefully.

Eclipsa touched Glossaryck's forehead.

"Globgor."Glossaryck yawned and fell asleep.

"Aw, they're so sweet when they're sleeping."Star sighed and became serious. "Okay, listen, just because we didn't want you crystallized again doesn't mean we trust you. We just want you to be treated fairly."

"Although, this place doesn't exactly seem fair."Serena complemented and shrieked seeing the awful state of Eclipsa's bed. "What in the rodent is that?!"

Eclipsa's bed was full of angry green critters.

"Well, I love it here."Eclipsa responded. "Actually, this was my room, you know, back in the, well, you know, before. A lot has changed. But the most important thing is still the same."

Eclipsa walked to the window and pulls back the curtain, revealing a lovely view of the garden.

Star and Serena's eyes widen in amazement.

The girls went next to Eclipsa to gaze at the garden with her.

"Ah...wow."Star whispered. "This view is incredible."

"It's so beautiful."Serena remarked softly.

"Isn't it?"Eclipsa asked with a smile.
