Kagome's POV
I couldn't look at him right now and I didn't even know why! I walked back into the cave through the tunnel. Why did it hurt so much when he told that woman I was nothing to him? What is she to him? I walked right through the cave and out through the other side, I need to be alone.
"Kagome?"
I froze but continued to face away from him. "Yes?"
I heard him sigh behind me. "Do not go far."
I nodded once and took off into the forest putting as much distance as I could between us.
Inuyasha's POV
"Do you think it's going well?"
I turned my head to see Songo sit down beside me. "I doubt it." she went quiet. "What is it Songo?"
She shook her head. "What do you think will happen when they return?"
I blinked at her in surprise. "What do you mean? You know exactly what's going to happen. We will hunt down Naraku and end him once and for all."
She nodded. "Yes, I know that Inuyasha. I meant what will happen to us?"
I snorted. "Us?"
She glared at me. "Our group."
I froze at her words and glared. "Nothing."
She sighed. "Inuyasha everything has changed now. Kagome isn't even human anymore! We all thought you and Kagome would put the jewel back together and-"
I held up my hand. "That hasn't changed."
She sighed again. "And end up settling down together."
I chuckled. "Kagome was never mine to have."
She looked at me in surprise. "I thought you didn't believe in the soulmate thing."
I shook my head. "I still don't but, how could a demon from the past be with a girl from the future?"
She nodded and looked up at the sky. "You would have let her go."
I followed her gaze. "yes." But everything is different now.
