The Untold Story of Serena Butterfly

Chapter 65: Lint Catcher

In Mewni Castle...

Star was singing in her and Serena's bedroom while holding a burrito.

Oh, burrito burrito

I'll never let you go, my little burrito

Burrito, burrito, burrito

We've such a long way to go

For me to eat you

While Star was singing, Marco climbed into the girls room through the window.

"Hey, Star!"Marco greeted.

Star shrieked and throws her burrito at Marco.

"Marco! What did I tell you about–"Star started and gasped. "Wait...Marco!"

"Hi."Marco replied with a smile.

"Oh, my goodness!"Star gasped and started hesitating. "It's so good to see you. Um, what are you doing here?"

"I missed it here, so, I decided to come back permanently."Marco responded.

A toilet flushed in another room and Tom appeared while singing and holding a burrito.

"Burrito, burrito, I'll never let..."Tom sang and walked into the girls room.

"Tom?"Marco asked.

Tom smiled. "Marco!"

"Tom!"Marco remarked.

"Intruder!"Lady Whosits shouted and tackled Marco.

A whole swarm of knights hop into the girls room through the window.

"Uh, wait, wait, wait, wait a minute!"Star protested.

The knights continued to secure Marco as a prisoner.

"Guys, guys, hey guys, it's all right."Star assured. "It's just Marco."

"I'm not an intruder."Marco stated. "King River said I could be a knight. See? I got the cape and everything."

Lady Whosits laughed slowly and holds up Marco by the cape.

"Look, he's got a cape."Lady Whosits chuckled.

All the other knights began to laugh at Marco.

At the Throne Room...

Star and Marco being held by the knights went to see Queen Moon and King River, who were sitting in their throne chairs.

"Ugh, River. I'm so confused here."Queen Moon said. "You told Marco he could be a knight?"

"Well, uh, yeah...I never actually thought we'd see him again."King River chuckled nervously. "Ha ha!"

"I'm sorry, Marco, but I'm afraid that's not how it works."Queen Moon said.

"But King River gave me a knight's cape."Marco said. "M for Mewni."

"No, my boy, that's my meat blanket."King River stated.

"Meat blanket?"Marco asked.

"Yes."King River remarked and holds up a doily. "I also have a cheese doily."

Queen Moon let out a sigh.

"But I wore this thing every day."Marco admitted. "For weeks...weeks."

"I'm sorry, Marco, but becoming a knight is no easy task."King River stated.

"Yes, it takes years of intense training, dear."Queen Moon agreed.

"Yeah."Lady Whosits added. "Years of intense training."

"He hasn't even been a squire."Another knight said.

"A squire?"Marco asked. "Hey, I can do that."

"River, are any of our knights in need of a squire?"Queen Moon asked.

"Wait, I've got it."King River replied.!"How about we set him up with Sir Pop Lock and Dropeth? Hmm? That old scamp!"

"Um, actually, he popped, locked, and dropped."Queen Moon whispered.

"You mean...?King River started.

Queen Moon nodded.

"Oh, my."King River said with a startled look.

"Star, why don't you have Marco stay with you?"Queen Moon suggested. "It will give you two a chance to catch up while we figure this out."

"Wait, wait, wait."Star stated. "I know a knight he can squire for."

A While Later...

Star was leading Marco in a large stairwell.

"Man, Star. I'm sorry."Marco said. "I feel like I just crash landed into your life–"

"Well, we figured it out."Star responded simply.

"Yeah...um, cool."Marco agreed. "Wow, heh. Check out all these stairs. Sure are a lot."

"So, what does Jackie think about all this?"Star asked.

"Oh, well, she wasn't really into it... but...you know me. Ain't nobody telling me what to do."Marco remarked and let out a small chuckle. "That-that was a joke. Ugh. Actually, yeah, she...she broke up with me."

"Well, I'm very sorry about that."Star apologised.

"So...are you and Tom–"Marco started with a smirk.

"Yep!"Star answered quickly.

A shocked expression grew on Marco's face.

"Oh, look, here's that door we were walking to."Star complemented with a smile.

The young teenagers hear Sir Lavabo laughing as the duo opened the door to the laundry room.

Sir Lavabo was in a large pile of clothes.

"Ah ha!"Sir Lavabo laughed and held out a sock. "Found you!"

Star and Marco walked toward the pile.

"Ah, here's our guy, Sir Lavabo."Star stated. "Hi!"

"Ah, princess."Sir Lavabo said. "I will be with you shortly. I have a job to finish."

Sir Lavabo lays the sock on a table next to another sock.

"There. Every sock in the kingdom now has its mate."Sir Lavabo explained. "How may I be of service?"

"Well, I...I got you a squire."Star admitted.

Sir Lavabo gasped. "My own squire? What do you call him?"

"Marco Diaz."Star replied.

"What?"Marco questioned in disbelief. "I'm squiring for the laundry guy?"

"Yeah. This is Sir Lavabo."Star remarked. "He's super cool."

"But I'd be way down here in the basement."Marco reminded.

"Actually, sub-basement."Star corrected. "So moody. You're gonna love it."

"Yeah, but, just the same, how about you princess me up something a little closer, like, say, something in the castle?"Marco suggested.

"Marco, just 'cause I'm a princess doesn't mean I can do anything I want."Star answered.

"Yeah, but if I'm all the way down here, we're never even gonna see each other."Marco stated.

"You don't appreciate anything I do!"Star growled and began to walk away.

"Star, wait."Marco said. "I didn't mean..."

Star slammed the door, leaving Marco in the laundry chamber.

"Marco Diaz, are you ready for your first quest?"Sir Lavabo asked.

"Yeah...sure."Marco said. "What are we doing?"

"You must empty the lint catcher."Sir Lavabo answered firmly.

In the Royal Garden...

Serena sat down on a bench next to Eclipsa, who was feeding birds some seeds.

"So my mother said it's good for our kingdoms to come together, the Spider Bites have resources that could benefit the Butterfly Kingdom."Eclipsa admitted. "I was like what resources? Regular repeated bites by slightly venomous spiders? No thank you. Oh, the welts from the spider venom go down eventually, my mother says."

Serena chuckled at Eclipsa's story.

"So your mum really wanted you to marry Shastacan even though you didn't want to?"Serena asked.

"Yes."Eclipsa responded with a hint of disapproval. "But I understood her position, taking a king is arbitrary. She just went out to sea with Alphonse and nine months later I was born. To her, the king was just throne candy. Someone to sit there and look fancy and powdered next to the queen."

Serena nodded before her face turned bright red when she realised something.

"So I guess we have something in common."Serena admitted shyly while looking down. "We are both...umm..."

"Illegitimate?"Eclipsa finished.

"Yeah."Serena remarked with a awkwardly smile. "My parents loved each other, but they didn't get married either."

"Did you mother tell you that?"Eclipsa asked.

"No, my dad did."Serena commented rubbing her arm.

Star tripled on the large chain connected between Eclipsa and a tree.

"Hello."Eclipsa greeted.

"Hi Star."Serena remarked.

"Eclipsa. They're giving you some outdoor time."Star replied as she stood up. "That's great."

"I know. And real dragon chains, too."Eclipsa said simply and sighed. "They make a lady feel so free."

Serena frowned. "I told them the chain wasn't necessary but no one listened to me."

"Hey, can I sit?"Star asked. "Sit, like, right there?"

Eclipsa grunted while moving herself and the chain to make room for Star on the bench with Serena.

Star sighed. "Thanks."

Eclipsa handed Star the small bag of bird seed.

"Here, take a load off. Feed the birds."Eclipsa suggested. "Always makes me feel better."

Star grabbed the bag angrily and started eating the seeds.

"I don't get how some people think it's okay to just drop into your life without so much as a head's up text."Star muttered. "You know what I'm saying? And then you try to help him out, no appreciation."

"So, what's his name?"Eclipsa asked.

"Huh? What? No, no, no, no, no, it's not like that."Star assured. "Well, well not anymore. It's just Marco."

"Oh Marco is back?"Serena asked in surprise.

"Yeah."Star grumbled. "Don't get any ideas."

"So that's it."Eclipsa said with a smile.

"Marco thinks that just because I'm a princess, I can get him whatever job he wants."Star commented while her mouth munched on bird seeds.

"Well, can't you?"Eclipsa asked.

"No...fine, yes."Star lied. "But that's not the point."

"Well, now that he's here, do you want him to stay?"Eclipsa asked.

"Uh, yeah...no. Ugh, I don't know."Star responded. "Doesn't matter anyway. I already made him a laundry squire."

"Seriously?"Serena questioned in disbelief. "You made Marco squire for the laundry guy?"

"Hey, there wasn't no other squire."Star commented.

This caused Eclipsa to become concerned.

"He's squiring for the knight of the wash?"Eclipsa said. "Uh, well then your problem will take care of itself, dear."

"What's that supposed to mean?"Star asked worriedly.

"No squire has ever survived more than a day in the laundry room."Eclipsa stated. "It's the most dangerous place in the castle."

"Marco! I got to go!"Star panicked and throws the bag down on the floor before running off. "Thanks for the popcorn."

"That wasn't popcorn."Eclipsa said.

"Classic Star."Serena chuckled.

In the Laundry Room...

Star went up to Sir Lavabo.

"Lavabo, where's Marco?"Star asked.

"On his first quest, cleaning out the lint catcher, milady."Sir Lavabo answered.

Lots of pink lint flowed out of a large barrel.

"Oh, no."Star replied and took out her wand. "Sparkle slushie juice blast!"

"Wait, princess!"Sir Lavabo protested.

Star's spell hurled her into the lint catcher.

Inside the catcher there was full of fluffy pink lint.

A large fan sits at the back.

"Marco?"Star asked. "Whoa!"

A face in the lint wearing a sock as a hat sticks its tongue out at Star before disappearing.

"That was weird."Star mumbled.

Star gazes more at her surroundings and sees Marco with a horrified look on his face hiding behind a support beam.

"Marco! There you are."Star said as she walked towards him.

"No, don't."Marco whispered. "You're gonna wake it up."

"What?"Star asked.

"No, I said. Don't."Marco whispered. "You're gonna wake it up."

"What?"Star questioned as she walked where Marco was.

Marco sighed and decided to no longer whisper.

"I said, you're gonna wake it up."Marco responded.

All of the lint began to crawl into a large pile.

Then the pile roared revealing several rows of teeth and it began lashing out with lint tentacles.

"Whoa!"Marco gasped.

Star let out a yelp.

The lint grabbed Marco by the feet and reels him into its mouth.

"Whoa! Aah!"Marco panicked. "Star!"

"Rolling thunder lightning blast!"Star chanted.

The spell hits the line causing it to drop Marco and grab Star.

"Aah!"Star shouted.

"Star!"Marco called out.

Star screamed as Marco charged, jumping into the lint's mouth causing it to drop Star.

"Marco!"Star shrieked.

Lint burped and belches out Marco.

Marco lands on top of Star.

"Marco, are you okay?"Star asked.

"We gotta get that fan moving!"Marco said pointing at the fan.

The lint moves in front of the fan, blocking their path.

Marco began punching one of its tentacles.

Star blasted the lint monster with a spell and then propels Marco forward with a blast from her wand.

"Hiya!"Marco cried out and grabbed the fan's blades. "It won't budge!"

"Wiggle harder!"Star suggested.

The lint monster swarmed around Marco.

"I'm coming, Marco!"Star assured.

Star jumped up and grabbed on to Marco's legs.

"Ha, gotcha!"Star remarked.

"Whoa!"Marco responded.

Their combined weight forces the blade to start spinning and the lint monster was sucked away into it.

Marco grabbed onto Star.

"Fantastic exit beam!"Star chanted.

The two young teenagers screamed as they exited the catcher and land in a pile of laundry.

"Bravo! Fantastique!"Sir Lavabo congratulated proudly. "Only one other squire has survived the lint catcher. Me! Diaz, you will make a fine squire for the knights of the wash."

"Great."Marco laughed. "Thanks, I guess."

"Uh, Lavabo, can you give us a sec?"Star asked. "I need to talk to Marco alone."

"As you wish, Princess."Sir Lavabo responded with a bow and marched off. "Long live the wash!"

"Okay, listen, Marco. Here's the thing. A lot has changed in my life since you left."Star explained. "It's complicated, but I finally figured out that I just need to be the best princess I can now. And with you here it's really hard to–"

"Yeah, yeah. I totally get it."Marco admitted sadly. "It was a crazy bad idea for me to do this without giving you a heads up. I'll go back to Earth."

"That's not what I meant."Star replied.

Afterwards...

Star was leading Marco in a hallway in the castle lined with many paintings.

"Okay, can I, uh, take my hands off my face, please?"Marco asked covering his eyes. "I feel like I'm gonna run into something."

"Okay, stop. This is the place."Star stated and casted a spell with her wand. "Sparkle glitter bomb expand. Okay, you can look now."

"Whoa."Marco said in astonishment.

Marco opened a newly formed door, leading to his room.

"Is that..."Marco started and gasped. "What? No way! I can't believe it!"

The laser puppies went up to Marco and greeted him.

"My room! All my stuff! My galactic kung fu doll."Marco remarked. "This is so great!"

"Marco, kneel."Star ordered.

"Uh, what?"Marco chuckled.

"Marco, sit."Star instructed.

All the laser puppies sit.

"What are-are you doing?"Marco asked and knelt down.

"Head down, please."Star ordered and cleared her throat.

Star was enveloped in a cone of light.

"I hereby declare that you, Marco Ubaldo Diaz, shall henceforth be my royal squire, to stay by my side in times of peace or danger, as my most trusted confidant and advisor."Star announced.

As Star speaks, the blonde haired touched her wand to each of Marco's shoulders.

"To go clubbing with me even when he's too tired, to share his late night nachos, but most importantly to be my very best friend so long as we both shall live. Amen."Star said. "Do you accept?"

"I do."Marco replied before standing up from the floor.

Star and Marco smiled at each other.

"Wait, do princesses even have squires?"Marco asked in confusion.

"I'm a princess."Star reminded with a smirk. "I can do what I want."
