Outspoken Apologies

Echo follows her King's orders and once they had all left the throne room, the former spy took them to the floor designated for the Skaikru delegation. She showed the rooms to them. "Usually only the ambassadors get the chance to sleep in the tower, but since your people was not given an embassy yet, you will all be staying here for the moment," Echo explained as the door of the lift opened and she stepped forward the others following her until she came to a stop in the middle of the hall and waited for them to catch up before she spoke again.

"This room belongs to Kane as he is your Ambassador. The one across to his is to be given to Bellamy kom Skaikru as the Skaikru General," Echo said pointing to the room and the guy in question was surprised by it before she continued. "The one on the right of Bellamy's room is to be given to Wanheda's second in command, Raven kom Skaikru,"

The girl smirked as she first bumped with Wick. "Sweet," She said before Echo continued.

"The room on the right of Kane's will be given to the men, the one on the left for the women." Echo finished explaining to them.

"So, Bell here and I get our own room?" Raven asked her and Echo nodded.

"Yes, that is right. You can go right ahead and check if the rooms are to your liking," Echo said and motioned for them to go to their designated room. They went and opened the doors to their room and were met with really nice quarters much better than the ones on the Ark.

"This is amazing. Like for real," Raven expressed as she checked her room out. The others all agreed with her assessment while Echo smirked.

"The King will be very happy to hear you are satisfied. The food will be brought to the third room on the left side of Bellamy's, where there is a large enough table for all of you to dine together," Echo explained to them as they came out of their rooms.

"What about Clarke's room?" Bellamy asked her and she turned to look at him.

"The King has already selected a different room for Wanheda and once she is done talking to him, she will be escorted there by the King himself," Echo explained to him.

"Nice. She needs the special treatment, after all she has been through anyway. But where is it so we can find her if we want to?" Raven asked her and Echo looked at her.

"King Roan has designated the Commander Lexa's former quarters for Wanheda's use while she is here in Polis," Echo told them, and they all looked at each other understanding why he did that. He must have known how important they were to each other.

"Thank you," Raven said sincerely, with a small voice and Echo gave her a small nod in return.

"Is there anything else you wish to ask?" She asked them, but they simply shook their heads.

"Clarke is going to take a while talking to Roan, so I don't know about you guys, but I am going to rest on this very nice and comfy looking bed I have been given. Bye losers," Raven said to the others going inside her room and closing the door.

"Yeah we're turning in too. See you guys later," Said Wick closing their door as well as the girls closed theirs, Bellamy was about to close his when a hand stopped him, and as he looked up to see who it was, Echo standing there looking at him pleadingly.

"Can we talk Bellamy? Please," She asked him, and her voice seemed much less threatening than it usually was, much softer and almost apologetically, so he pondered the choice. He had meant when he said he didn't trust her, but in the end, he gave a nod to her anyway and she came inside his room as he closed the door behind them.

"What do you want to talk about Echo?" He asked her coldly as he crossed his arms to his chest and frowned staring at her while she sighed, having already expected this reaction coming from him. She knew she deserved it.

"I know you have no reason to believe me or trust me, and I don't blame you after everything that happened, after everything I did to you and to your people, but I really wanted you to know that I am sorry," She said to him sincerely, even if he didn't accept it, she needed to say it, even if just once that she was indeed sorry.

Bellamy looked at her with cold unwavering eyes, "You're sorry about what exactly? About the fact that you used me and got 49 of my people killed when you blew up the Mountain or because you almost imprisoned and killed us when we destroyed the City of light? Because in either case, you seemed more than happy to screw my life and the life of the people I cared about over and over again so forgive me if I don't follow," He said to her and she sighed.

"I'm sorry for all of it. It will be difficult for you to believe me when I say this, but I never wanted to hurt you or your people. I swear," Echo said to him and he scoffed but she didn't let that stop her so she continued speaking, "My father had worked for the Royal Family his entire life and ever since I was born, he would tell about how great the Queen was for our people and how grateful we should be to be under her guidance. All my life I believed in her to be the best ruler my people had and when I became a spy myself, I was very loyal to her and I never before had gone against her orders, but I did that day."

He frowned at the last part of what she said. "What do you mean you went against her orders that day?" He asked her and she looked at him before she took a deep breath.

"All of you were supposed to die that day by the Mountain, Bellamy. There wasn't supposed to be any survivors. I was there to watch as an scout, to bring back the news to the Queen, but then I saw your sister come out of the door and then you came after her and I couldn't let you die in there or her so when I heard the guards coming my way, I didn't hide from them and instead, let them bring me to you. I made up a lie about the assassin being here in Polis so I could get you out of there," Echo said to him and he was beyond surprised. He certainly was not expecting to hear that.

"I couldn't disobey my orders enough to save your people, I have to admit I didn't care much about them, but I had to save you the same way you saved me when we were inside the Mountain. So, I am sorry for what happened to your people and to you, I never wanted to cause you any pain. You're a good man Bellamy. Despite some of the things you have done, I can see that you have a good heart and you may never forgive me for what I did, I wouldn't blame you, part of me won't forgive myself either, but I just wanted you to know that I never wanted you dead or hurt. Unfortunately, I could only spare you of one of those fates."

"And to be honest, between the choices I had in that moment, I have always known I made the right one. I would have you hate me as you do now for betraying you and for getting your people killed than knowing that you have been in that Mountain and that I didn't save you, that I let you die," Echo said to him sincerely, pouring her heart out and for the first time in her life, expecting nothing in return, no sympathy, no forgiveness, nothing. She was doing it simply because she had to, because it was the right thing to do, because she wanted, she needed to know that she could do it.

Meanwhile for Bellamy, he just stared at her speechless. All of the things he had expected her to say to him, this was not one of them. He had not expected her to have saved him that day, always thinking she had only gotten him out so that she could guarantee that the job would be done and he wouldn't have interfered with it. He was completely thrown off and as much as he wanted to make himself believe that she was lying that she was once again, trying to manipulate him, he couldn't deny the sincerity he was seeing in her eyes. He could see that she had lowered down her walls and was letting him see her, her feelings and all and he knew that for someone like her, so used to keep that locked, to show him, it must really mean something important so he couldn't brush it off.

before she took a deep breath.

Echo simply looked at him, willing him to search in her eyes and see that she was telling the truth but she wasn't sure he saw it so she decided she had done what she had set out to do and it was time to leave. So, she took a deep breath before letting it out. "I should be going now. The King might have need for me. Thank you for listening to me, even if you didn't have any obligations to. It was a kindness most people wouldn't have shown," She said to him and moved past him, going towards the door, but before she could go far, he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back to look at him, the two of them standing awfully close, close enough to feel each other's breath on their faces.

"Why Echo? Why did you save me? Why was I so important to you then that you went against the orders of the Queen you swore to serve? Tell me why, Echo. I deserve to know," He asked her and, in her eyes, he could see the answer before she spoke the words out loud, though he wasn't sure he was ready to hear them.

"Because you're special to me, Bellamy. Because despite everything I was ever taught as a kid and as a spy, I like you. I didn't want that Mountain Guard to kill you any more than I wanted you to explode in that place or here when we were under the clutches of ALIE. I don't want you to be hurt, no matter what. And I know you don't feel the same way about me. I have seen the way you look at Wanheda, I'm not stupid. And even if you had felt it, I did a good enough job of ruining any chance I could have had, but I don't regret my choice. As I said, I rather have you alive and hate me than to see you dead. I truly just came here to say I am sorry," Echo said before she shrugged out of his grip and walked out of the room, leaving him to ponder about everything she just told him about that day, and apparently about her feelings for him.

After the Mountain blew up, killing 49 of their people, he had asked himself why she had come to drive only three people away from the Mountain. If there really was an assassin there, it was unluckily that they would have found the guy either way without knowing what to look for. He would have killed all of them without a problem, but she did come and took him, Octavia and Pike away and he had never understood why she had done that. What was the point? What was the angle in doing that? He had never been able to find a plausible answer to that before, but he guessed now he had one.

She had not wanted him to die or for him to lose his sister. She probably had no idea about Gina, his ex-girlfriend, and who else was there inside that place, much less what they meant to him but the one person she knew for sure he couldn't lose, which was his sister, she had helped to save as well and if what she told him really was the true, then he had to thank her for saving his and Octavia's life even if she did let the other 49 of them die.

Although his sister, wherever she was, would not care about it at all, if what Echo said was true, they owed her their life and although the situation can be pretty bad, he couldn't help but feel a little bit grateful for her. Guess this is just one more piece to the confusing puzzle that it is his feelings for both Clarke and Echo. He knew he wasn't indifferent to her, that he had romantic feelings for her as well, otherwise, her betrayal wouldn't have hurt him so much, but he also knew he felt something for Clarke as well so what was he supposed to do now? How could he solve this puzzle that are his feelings for these two women?

If only he knew the answer to that.
