Kagome's POV
Not far from his cave I found a small pond with a sparkling waterfall feeding it. I looked around the small shore and frowned. I knew this place but from where?
"I was wondering when I'd finally see you again."
I spun around in surprise and saw none other then Kikyo stepping out from behind a nearby tree. "You're alive?"
She shook her head. "not for much longer."
I blinked in alarm. "What? Why not? Is there anything I can do to help you?"
She looked at me in surprise before chuckling. "Amazing, even as a full demon you seem to care for others."
I blushed and shook my head. "I haven't changed that much."
She eyed me up and down. "Everything about you has changed Kagome." She sighed. " I assume that you've noticed already."
I looked at her confused. " noticed what?"
She shook her head. "What happens when you go near the jewel?" I looked down at the ground. "You won't be able to sense the shards anymore."
My gaze shot up to meet hers. "I figured as much. I guess I won't be any use to Inuyasha anymore." She shook her head and held out her hand. Floating slightly above her hand was a small spec of light. I stared at it in wonder. "What is that?"
She looked down at it. "I could feel what he was doing to you Kagome. I figured out quickly what his plan was, so before he could rip your purity away and destroy me in the process I reached deep into your soul and stole a crumb of your purity."
My jaw dropped. "Could...could I go back to normal with that?"
She shook her head. "No, but you will be able to track the jewel shards and keep them from going dark with it."
I nodded and held out my hand for it but she stepped away. "Kagome when I give this to you it will end my existence."
I backed away from her. "What? No, I won't take it."
She shook her head. "You must, but you can't take it back or it will lose its purity."
I looked at her confused. "So what do I do with it?"
She smiled. "You must place it on something that will never leave your side. When the jewel is whole it will return to your body and become one with your darkness."
I looked down in shame. I never wanted this darkness or this burden. "I won't kill you Kikyo."
She stepped towards me. "You have no choice. I am ready to leave this world."
