100 years later

"Princess Hana, this is important. Pay attention. See how he chooses to caress her cheek? He doesn't want to scare her away with too forward of an advance, so-"

"High God Takarada, I don't want to watch these romantic plays anymore! They're so fake!"

Lory's jaw dropped, and his eyes welled up with tears. "How can you say such a thing, Princess Hana?"

"No love story can compare to the one between Father and Mother!" Hana crossed her arms with a pout.

"She's right," Yashiro snorted in laughter.

"Ah, that's true. Your mother and father are the sweetest couple in the world. Here, how would you like to hear about your father's younger days?" Lory collected himself, his tearful eyes replaced with a mischievous grin.

"Ooo! Yes, please!" Hana exclaimed eagerly.

"Where to start?" Lory tapped a finger to his chin.

"What about when Kuon travelled and wreaked havoc when he was around 20,000 years old? That's enough to tell Hana about until she gets a younger sibling," Yashiro spoke up.

"Very well. Your father was very naughty at that age," Lory smirked, launching into a story on Kuon's mischievous younger self as Hana listened attentively.

Kyoko's eyes fluttered open as rays of sunlight flittered through the window. She snuggled into the warm embrace of Kuon, never wanting to leave his side.

They were currently lying together in the small hut where they had first met. Although they couldn't stay there forever (they still had their duties as Crown Princess and King of the Fairy Kingdom), Kyoko and Kuon liked to take short trips to this hut in the mortal realm where they fell in love with each other whenever they could.

"Is it already morning?" Kuon murmured groggily.

"It's way past morning already. I think it's around midday," Kyoko responded.

"Do we have to get up?" Kuon wondered, pulling her closer to him.

"Yashiro-san and High God Takarada are only supposed to watch Hana for a few more mortal hours. We should probably get up," Kyoko responded. Kuon made a small noise of protest as Kyoko pulled away from him to sit on the edge of the bed, stretching her arms out. Kuon snaked his arms around her waist, preventing her from leaving.

"Kuon, come on. I want to show you something," Kyoko said, prying his arms off of her even if she would have been content to give into his whims.

Kuon begrudgingly got up from bed along with Kyoko, and after getting changed, he followed her out of their hut towards the mortal village. As Kyoko and Kuon approached the marketplace, they stopped as they saw a man being kicked down onto the streets by a woman.

"Please, I gave you my heart and treated your two sons like my own! You can't divorce me!" The blonde man said. Kyoko and Kuon couldn't see his face since he was facing away from them.

"You clung to me and caused my breakup with my husband! I married you with the thoughts of leading a normal life, but you seduced that other woman on the street! I've already divorced you, so stop bothering me!" The woman screamed as she threw her shoe at his face. The man clutched his cheek in pain as the woman stomped away. As he turned his head, Kuon was shocked to see that it was Sho.

"Sometimes when I see him like this, I feel like his punishment was a bit too harsh," Kyoko said.

"Well, he did commit a crime against the Crown Princess, but I do agree that his punishment is a bit harsh. He's already returned what he's owed me though, so he has nothing to do with me anymore. You didn't bring me here just to see him though, right?"

"No. Keep following me," Kyoko smiled, taking his hand and leading him to the theater in town. They took a table as the actors on stage neared the end of their tale on the heavenly black dragon that protected the village.

"When I was younger, I used to sneak out of Goraku Mountain to watch plays in the mortal realm. I remember always wondering what it would be like to be one of the actors on stage," Kuon said.

"That seems fun now that you mention it… From what I saw when you acted as Cain Heel, I think you would be good at acting," Kyoko replied. On stage, a storyteller replaced the actors and cleared his throat.

"Now it is time to tell of a love story between the emperor and empress of the gods!" The storyteller's voice carried through the theatre.

"Emperor and empress of the gods? I don't remember your mother having a husband…" Kuon raised a confused eyebrow.

"You know mortals. They confuse a few of the details of the stories of immortals," Kyoko responded.

"Our story starts with a king being engaged to a lady who had fallen in love with another immortal. This lady was a friend of the Crown Princess of the Heavens." The storyteller continued.

"Wait, isn't this-" Kuon began to say before the booming voice of the storyteller cut him off.

"The selfless Crown Princess of the Heavens offered to take her friend's place so that her friend could marry the immortal she loved. However, the king was suddenly turned into a mortal and lost his memories. No one could find him. However, when the Crown Princess was visiting a mortal village one day, she fell in love with a mortal who turned out to be the immortal king she was engaged to."

"I'm amazed that our story has spread to the mortals already. Now it makes sense why they said that we were heavenly emperor and empress. They must believe those rumors that your mother is going to retire soon," Kuon said.

"Yeah, she's still got a few tens of thousands of years until she decides to retire. I'm not complaining though," Kyoko replied, standing up. Kuon stood up along with her and followed her out of the theater.

"That just means we have more time to spend together," Kuon grinned.

"Do you know that the time that I met you as Ren was the first time in my life where I truly felt happy?" Kyoko asked.

"You mentioned it a few times to me on our wedding night," Kuon replied with a smirk. Kyoko blushed.

"Even though we went through some challenges, I'm just happy that we're together now," Kyoko smiled.

"I'm grateful that I have the opportunity to raise a family with you," Kuon replied, taking one of her hands and placing their interlocked hands on Kyoko's belly.

"What do you think we should name him? You're pretty good at coming up with names," Kuon smiled.

"I still need some time to think..." Kyoko replied.

"Kyoko, I love you. I'll still love you no matter how many times I lose my memory. For eternity, you are the only one I will ever love," Kuon kissed her brow.

"There's no one else I would rather spend eternity with," Kyoko smiled as Kuon leant down to kiss her on the lips.
