Chapter 69: Sweet Dreams
In the Sky...
Star and Serena were flying through the purple clouds.
Then multiple flying goblin dogs appeared around Star's side and cinnamon rolls appeared in Serena's side.
"Goblin dogs!"Star said with a smile.
"Whoa, cinnamon rolls too!"Serena remarked.
The goblin dogs and cinnamon rolls follow Star and Serena through the sky.
A face appeared on one of the goblin dogs.
"Star! Will you please eat me?"the goblin dog asked.
A face appears on one of the cinnamon rolls.
"Serena, please eat me up."the cinnamon roll begged.
"Don't mind if I do!"Star chuckled.
"I am kind of hungry."Serena complemented.
Star eats up the goblin dog and Serena eats the cinnamon roll.
"Eat all of us!"the goblin dogs and cinnamon rolls requested happily.
Star and Serena started eating all the goblin dogs and cinnamon rolls.
In the Girls Bedroom...
Serena yawned and stretched as she woke up from her slumber.
The orange haired girl notice she didn't feel hungry.
"Must've been the cinnamon rolls that I ate with Kevin from Lucky Bunny."Serena commented in amusement.
Serena notice Star was sleeping in bed and chewing on her pillow.
"Star, your chewing on your pillows again."Serena reminded.
Star wakes up and notice she was chewing her pillows.
"Pleh!"Star groaned and then smiled. "What a satisfying and filling dream."
Then there was a knock on the girls bedroom door, revealing Marco and Kevin.
"Star, Serena, are you both up?"Marco asked holding out a box of Captain Blanche's Sugar Seeds. "It's time for breakfast! I found Captain Blanche's Sugar Seeds here on Mewni. They have an importer."
"And I made some chocolate croissants for extra sweetness."Kevin remarked.
"Nah, I'm all good."Star assured.
"Same with me."Serena complemented.
"I just had the most amazing dream where I was flying and then there were all these goblin dogs that were also flying and then I ate them."Star explained and burped. "Ew, smells like goblin dogs."
"Uh, Star, what are all those?"Marco asked.
Then multiple goblin dog wrappers were in Star's bed.
"What the...?"Star said in surprise. "Goblin Dog wrappers?!"
"You've been sneaking out to the goblin dog truck without me?"Marco asked with a hint of shock.
"No, no, no! I swear, I am not—!"Star started and burped up a goblin dogs receipt. "Ew! A receipt? I did go to that dimension! In my sleep?"
"How is that possible?"Marco asked.
"I have...no idea."Star answered.
"Serena, what is that on your lip?"Kevin asked.
Serena notice a bit of whip cream on her mouth causing her to lick it away.
"Whipped cream?"Serena said in surprise and notice a Lucky Bunny wrapper sticked on her arm. "No way! I must've gone back to Earth after I fell asleep."
"Well, this is weird."Kevin commented.
Later that Night...
Star and Serena were prepared to go to bed.
"Okay, Marco, Kevin, you both know the plan."Star instructed. "You stay up all night and see if whatever happened last night happens again tonight."
"But then what? Shouldn't we tell somebody about this?"Marco asked. "I mean...I mean, what if—"
"Marco, the girls are ordering us to simply sit and watch incase anything strange happens."Kevin reminded. "So the key is to stay alert and awake."
"Okay."Marco responded.
"Thank you, Kevin."Serena remarked with a grateful smile.
Kevin winked at his girlfriend.
Star and Serena turn off their lamps before going to their beds.
"Oh and don't tell Tom about this, either."Star ordered.
"Oh, heck no."Marco answered.
"Good!"Star chuckled. "Good night."
"See you guys in the morning."Serena added.
Glossaryck jumped into Marco's lap.
"Aah! Glossaryck!"Marco gasped.
"Globgor..."Glossaryck yawned and goes to sleep.
"Why does he keep saying Globgor?"Kevin asked
"No idea."Marco responded and looked at Glossaryck. "All right, but just for a little while. You're so...warm...and cozy."
"Must stay awake and alert."Kevin said quietly.
Not long after Marco and Kevin have dozed off in their chairs.
Marco's head slumped onto Glossaryck.
"Wha! Whoa!"Glossaryck said and jumped out of Marco's lap.
Kevin immediately woke up and gasped in shock.
"Star?!"Marco asked. "Serena?!"
"Oh boy..."Kevin said nervously.
Dimensional portals opened on the two girls beds.
Star and Serena came out of the portals in their mewberty forms.
Star eats a goblin dog and pulled the entire Goblin Dog truck up through the portal.
Serena held a bunch of various desserts in her hands and eats a blueberry scone.
The portals closed and Star dropped the truck on the floor.
The two girls landed on the floor in their normals and fell asleep.
Marco shook Star and Kevin shook Serena.
"Star, wake up!"Marco stated.
"You too, Serena."Kevin said worriedly.
"Hey, buddy."Star giggled.
"What's up?"Serena yawned.
"There's definitely something weird going on."Marco stated.
Roy was panting in fear inside his car.
"Yikes."Serena mumbled rubbing the back of her neck.
"Marco, Kevin, what happened?"Star asked.
"We both actually fell asleep before seeing anything happened and when we woke up we saw opened portals lying on your beds."Kevin explained.
"Without dimensional scissors?"Star questioned raising an eyebrow.
"That's not possible."Serena complemented in disbelief.
"You both came out of the portals as those big scary things you two turned into when you defeated Toffee."Marco admitted.
"Well, that shouldn't be happening."Star stated.
The Next Morning...
Star, Marco, Serena, Kevin, King River and Queen Moon were seated at the breakfast table.
"So mum you know that big butterfly thing you can transform into when you get all mad and feel like scaring people?"Star asked.
"It's not for scaring people, Star."Queen Moon reminded.
"Right. Right, right, right."Star said. "So, does that ever happen...unintentionally?"
"Well, it starts with mewberty."Queen Moon commented. "Nut after that, it requires years of training."
"Oh, good. Good, good, good."Star remarked. "But what if it just sort of happened...randomly?"
"Star, it doesn't happen randomly. Okay? It happens...in times of need."Queen Moon replied. "Like when you and Serena defeated Toffee."
"Yeah, but what if after defeating jerk face, it actually happened randomly, auntie?"Serena asked.
"Catastrophe!"King River laughed. "Yes! We'd have to put you both in the dungeon!"
"River—"Queen Moon started.
"No! Then the Magical High Commission would come and take you both away!"King River shouted. "There'd be weeks of examinations. You'd be locked away forever!"
Star sinked low in her seat and Serena's face paled.
"River, please."Queen Moon begged.
"I mean, if this happened, eventually we'd just have to adopt new princesses."King River added.
"River, enough!"Queen Moon snapped before looking at Star and Serena. "Girls, is everything all right?"
"Oh!"Star laughed nervously. "Yes, we were just asking so that we can be prepared to handle it if we ever do learn to transform like you on purpose."
"Everything is totally normal, obviously."Serena agreed with a weak smile.
"Queen Moon—"Marco started.
Star kicked Marco under the table.
"Ouch!"Marco groaned. "I...have nothing to say."
A Few Hours Later...
Star and Serena entered their bedroom.
"Food Truck Bed Transform!"Star chanted.
Star restored her bed with the Goblin Dog logo on the front.
Serena used her cane to make the desserts on the floor disappear.
"All right, Marco, Kevin."Star said. "Let's try this again."
Marco and Kevin chained Star and Serena to their beds with multiple chains and locked them with a large key.
"Are you both sure this will keep you both from morphing into butterflies?"Kevin asked.
"Absolutely."Serena remarked.
"Yep!"Star agreed. "Don't worry, we got this.
"But even your mum seemed concerned."Marco said.
"My parents cannot know about this! You heard what my dad said!"Star reminded. "Locked away forever!"
"I think he was exaggerating a little."Marco complemented.
"There must be another solution to solve this."Kevin suggested.
"Nope, there isn't."Serena replied simply. "Make sure you guys don't fell asleep this time."
"Don't worry, not gonna happen."Marco assured. "And even if it does, these chains will alert us any time you two move and we will wake up, too."
"Thanks, Marco."Star yawned. "Good night."
"Good night, Kevin."Serena commented.
Then the two girls fell asleep.
"Don't fell asleep."Kevin muttered as he sat down on a small chair while rubbing his eyes. "Don't fell asleep."
Marco sits down on a footstool and Glossaryck jumped into his lap again.
"Aah! Glossaryck! Oh, no, you don't. You're not making me fall asleep this time!"Marco stated and puts Glossaryck outside the girls room. "Out you go."
"Globgor?"Glossaryck asked.
Marco closed the door.
A Few Hours Later...
It was now night time.
Marco and Kevin have once again fell asleep.
Suddenly objects started floating around the girls bedroom.
Marco gets hit in the back by Star's star-shaped purse and Kevin got hit on the head by a gold rose bottle causing them to wake up.
Star and Serena were in their butterfly forms and were struggling against their chains.
A big dimensional portal appeared above the beds causing everything in the room to get sucked up.
The chains of Star and Serena broke free causing them to pull into the portal.
"Star!"Marco called out.
"Serena!"Kevin shouted.
The chains attached to Marco and Kevin's legs started getting pulled into the portal.
Marco and Kevin gets pulled into the portal causing them to scream in terror.
Star and Serena flew into the space-like void between dimensions.
"Whoa!"Marco gasped.
"Incoming!"Kevin protested.
Marco and Kevin began dodging the asteroids that were close on hitting them.
The two boys see a vending machine fly by.
"Huh?"Kevin said in confusion.
Marco gets hit in the face with a bag of Gold'n Crispz.
"What the...?"Marco started.
Marco and Kevin flew past Ludo, who waved at them.
Star and Serena happily dragged Marco and Kevin through an asteroid field.
"Girls, wake up!"Kevin demanded.
Kevin carefully climbed the chain to get up to Serena and grab her by the waist.
Marco grabbed the chain connected to his leg, pulled himself toward Star and grabbed her ankle.
"Marco?"Star asked.
"Kevin?"Serena said.
"We need you both to fly us back to that portal!"Marco instructed.
"Portal?"Star said and notice the portal. "Ohhh..."
Star grabbed Marco and Serena grabbed Kevin to fly back toward the portal.
Suddenly the two girls notice their butterfly wings began to fade away.
"Huh?"Star panicked. "Seriously?"
"Not now!"Serena scowled.
Star and Serena went back in their normal forms as they floated past the portal with Marco and Kevin.
But then Glossaryck appeared out of the portal with a chain of cloths tied around him.
Star, Marco, Serena and Kevin grabbed the cloth chain and they are pulled through the portal.
The young teenagers screamed as they ended up back in the girls bedroom.
Glossaryck hopped over to Eclipsa.
Eclipsa wore pink white pyjamas with spades, a purple bandanna tied on her hair and white furry slippers.
"Are you four all right?"Eclipsa asked.
"Yeah, thanks to you."Serena said kindly.
"Eclipsa! We are so glad you're here."Star remarked and grew confused. "Wait a minute. Why are you here?"
"I'm returning this little guy after he wandered into my tower."Eclipsa responded.
"Eclipsa?!"Marco panicked and gasped. "Isn't she that ancient evil queen everyone's talking about? We don't trust you one bit!"
"Oh, are you afraid I'll get my evil cooties on you?"Eclipsa asked smugly.
"Stay back, woman!"Marco ordered angrily and did a karate pose.
"What's this?"Eclipsa asked with a smirk and imitates the karate pose. "Some sort of sword hand dance? This looks fun."
"Don't come any closer!"Marco warned.
"Marco, she's really not dangerous."Star admitted.
"She isn't?"Kevin asked in suspicion.
"Aren't you adorable?"Eclipsa joked.
"Who are you calling adorable?!"Marco questioned.
"Stop!"Star ordered. "Me and Rena have had ten times our daily dose of weirdness in the last hour, so let's just call it a night, okay?"
"What?"Marco asked. "Y-Y-You can't just—"
"Marco, chill out."Serena complemented. "Eclipsa is one of Star's grandmas, show some respect."
"Grandma?!"Marco said in shock.
"Yes."Star said simply.
"We'll leave you ladies alone."Kevin stated pushing a shocked Marco out of the bedroom.
Star closed the door and groaned.
Eclipsa started to leave, but Serena quickly went up to her.
"Eclipsa, wait."Serena admitted. "We need to ask you something."
Then Star and Serena explained to Eclipsa about their sleeping issues while have tea together.
"So, that's about it."Star said. "Every night, we still go all Rah! Butterfly monsters."
Serena sighed. "No matter what we do, we can't stop transforming."
"Do you both need to stop them?"Eclipsa asked.
"You saw what happened tonight."Star reminded. "It was horrible."
"What about the other times?"Eclipsa questioned. "Were they so horrible?"
"Well, no, not exactly. In fact, they were really fun."Star remarked. "They were actually the most amazing dreams I've ever had."
"Same with me despite all the mischief."Serena chuckled.
"I wouldn't run from these dreams."Eclipsa admitted and a flying teapot refills her teacup. "I would embrace them. See where they take me."
"Really?"Star asked in surprise. "You think we should just let them happen?"
"It's the only way to learn what you are both truly capable of."Eclipsa commented. "All knowledge is good knowledge, I always say."
Star and Serena looked at each other.
"Well, I should get back to my tower before the guards realize I'm missing."Eclipsa said as she stood up and turned to leave.
"Exactly how did you break out of the tower?"Serena asked in curiosity.
"Yeah."Star agreed. "We thought you were under tower arrest."
"So long as we're spilling secrets."Eclipsa responded and looked at the portrait of her father, Alphonse the Worthy. "Oh, Captain! Permission to come aboard?"
The portrait of Alphonse the Worthy on the wall winked, revealing a secret passageway.
"Whoa..."Serena said in astonishment.
"Whaaaaat?!"Star chuckled with a grin. "I never knew that was there!"
"Yes, I used these secret tunnels constantly when I was your age."Eclipsa admitted with a smile. "All knowledge is good knowledge, my dears."
The Following Night...
Marco and Kevin entered the girls bedroom.
"Okay, so the chains were a bust."Marco said and holds out a bottle of magic glue. "But how about...?"
"Actually, Marco, Kevin, we don't need you two to watch us tonight."Star admitted.
"Oh, did you both figure out how to stop transforming?"
"No, we actually decided to embrace them and see where they take us."Serena stated.
Star and Serena went on their beds.
"Star, Serena, you both don't know anything about this."Marco reminded.
"Yeah and we'll never know anything about it if I keep trying to stop it."Star commented. "We know it's weird, but we really need to see this through, okay?"
"Okay, I guess."Marco replied. "But could you at least take my dimensional scissors with you in case you get trapped?"
"Sorry, Marco, but if we're gonna do this, we can't do it halfway."Star responded. kindly.
"And that means without any help."Serena added firmly.
"If you both say so."Kevin said with a unsure look.
"Okay, fine! I tried to help! No one can say I didn't try! Because I tried."Marco said with a frown. "So if you two die out there, don't go blaming us, all right?"
"All right!"Star called out happily.
"And calm down, nothing bad will ever happen."Serena assured.
"All right!"Marco replied and sighed. "Well...good luck out there."
"And be careful."Kevin warned. "Very carefully..."
Marco and Kevin leave the bedroom.
Star turns off the lights before she and Serena go to sleep.
The girls cheek marks started glowing.
A yellow dimensional portal appeared, sending Star down in her butterfly form.
As Serena slept, a glowing pink dimensional portal appeared above her bed, sending her up and going through it in her butterfly form.
Kevin takes a peek through the door quietly before closing it.
