Hello y'all. Happy New Year! Welcome to 2020!
I'm hoping this will be a great year for everyone. Hard to believe that I've actually been writing on this site for nearly seven years when I was writing for The Last of Us. Back then, I was just a weird high school kid who had no idea what he was doing. And now...I still hardly have any idea what I'm doing sometimes lmao.
Anyways, I hope y'all had a great Christmas and New Years, and enjoy. The party doesn't stop.
Sky slumped down against the wall, flinging her hood off and letting out a loud sigh. She wasn't in Green Hill anymore. Instead, she was outside of a large city, Metropolis.
"That doctor is gonna be the end of me..." She said, putting a hand over her forehead and leaning back.
"You know...things would go a lot smoother if you'd let me help out."
She opened her eyes, and saw Vanitas standing to her left.
"For the last time, Vanitas. I don't need nor want your help."
She sighed, "But I would be lying if I said that that doctor wasn't a pain to deal with. He's hopeless. If the old man wasn't so keen on us helping him, I would have sent him to the Realm of Darkness with the snap of my fingers."
…
"Wow. Didn't know he was that bad."
Sky looked away, "He's hopeless. He's gonna lose this war far quicker than I thought he would."
"Well, we'd better put a stop to that then. The old man is not gonna like it if we end up losing this world."
"Then he'd better start thinking of a backup plan. Ever since Kirux and Xion showed up, things have been going downhill. Need I remind you that it was you that insisted-"
She changed her voice to mock his, ""Oh, Kirux and Xion have to come here. They won't do anything to mess up our plans." Well, all they've done since coming here is MESS UP OUR PLANS."
Vanitas scowled at her, "You finished?"
She waved her hand, "Talk."
…
Vanitas slid his hands into his pockets, "I'm gonna make you an offer."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah. Really."
"Spit it out."
"Let me take over what's going on here. The Master wants me to go to this other world that Sora and his group are at. Trade places with me."
"Sounds like more work for me, if Sora is there..."
"Trust me, it's not. Those three are idiots. You can go there and screw with Sora and I'll take care of this world, or you can continue to sit here and mope for the next few hours."
Sky sighed, "I hate you..."
"Do we have a deal or not?"
…
"Ugh, fine. Where was the old man sending you?"
"A world called "Monstropolis". I know, sounds like a freakshow."
Sky stood up, and opened a corridor, "You need anything from me?"
Vanitas pulled two gemstones out of his pockets, the two Chaos Emeralds that Eggman didn't have yet, "Nope. I've got everything I need."
"You know...the doctor is looking for those. Do you plan on giving them to him?"
"Maybe I will, maybe I won't. It depends on what the doctor does."
Sky waved her hand, "Whatever. This is place is your problem now."
She walked through the dark corridor, leaving Vanitas by himself. He pocketed the emeralds, and grinned deviously.
"Oh, I'm gonna have fun with this place..."

"I still don't think splitting up is a good idea, Silver." Xion said, as her and Zeon vaulted up onto a higher ledge.
"I told you before. This is the fastest way if we're gonna find Sonic and get out of here without getting caught."
"That doesn't make it any less of a bad idea."
"Just remember the plan. I'll find where Sonic's being held, you two need to find the control room and unlock the cell doors."
"They have one control room for the entire station?" Zeon asked, pulling himself up next to Xion.
"There...might be multiple. I don't know, you guys. Just find some place that looks like a control room. It can't be that hard, right?"
There was strange background noise coming from Silver's end, and he quickly said, "Gotta go. Find the control room you two!"
Silver went silent, and Xion and Zeon were left there.
Xion put her Keyblade up over her shoulder, "So...got any ideas?"
Zeon shrugged, "I got nothin'."
Xion sighed, "Well, we're off to a great start."
…
The did eventually start making their way to...somewhere. Until they found something or someone, they made small talk.
Xion started, "So, what's your story?"
"Huh?"
"What's your story? Where are you from? What did you do before all of this happened? You got any friends or family?"
"Uhhhhh...is it weird if I say that I don't actually know?"
She turned to face him, "What do you mean?"
"I mean that...I don't remember anything. The last thing I can vividly remember is...being in some sort of lab. Eggman was there, saying something to me, something about a..."plan"."
"Do you know what plan he was talking about?"
"Nah. I've tried to remember, but I got no idea."
"How did you escape?"
Zeon grabbed his Wispon with his other hand, "One day, there was an attack on the facility. I got out of the tube I was being held in, and...I ran. I ran as far from that base as I could. Ever since, I've been hiding...until now. Until you and your friend saved me from Infinite."
"Where is that base?"
"It's in Mystic Jungle, where the space elevator Amy told us about is. Yeah, I remember seeing it when I escaped."
"A lab...Eggman...the two can't be a coincidence. What if he was made by Eggman? Could this all be a trap?"
Xion looked down and away from him, "Just gotta keep an eye on him from now on."
…
…
…
"Is it just me," Xion started, pointing her Keyblade up at some sort of robot that was working, "or have we passed that robot already?"
Zeon shrugged, "I mean, Eggman makes lots of robots of the same model. It would take a lot to recognize one from the other."
Xion said nothing.
Zeon said nothing.
"We're going in circles, aren't we?" Xion asked.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure we are."
"Ugh," Xion said, slamming her Keyblade into the wall, "This place is a freaking maze! At this pace, it'll take us weeks to find that control room."
When she pulled her Keyblade back, the wall suddenly fell forward. The corridor behind it was narrow, but large enough for the two of them to fit through.
…
Zeon walked up, "I think you found a maintenance tunnel. This will make things way easier."
He went to enter, but Xion said, "Are you sure that this is the right way?"
Zeon poked his head out, "Do you wanna keep walking in circles, or actually find what we're looking for?"
He went back into the tunnel, and Xion followed a second after, pulling the cover back up behind them.
…
It was a tight squeeze, but Xion let her Keyblade fade away and it made things a lot easier. For Zeon, it was a bit more difficult.
"Having trouble with that?" Xion teased, after Zeon had gotten his Wispon stuck again.
"Sorry I can't make my weapon disappear like you. Which reminds me: how in the heck can you do that?"
"Uhhhh...it's hard to explain, Zeon. It's better if we just focused on the mission right now."
"I guess you're right. Now can you help me get this thing unstuck."
She laughed, "Yeah sure."
…
…
…
"Hold on," Zeon said, stopping Xion, "There's a wall here. Lemme get this one down."
He kicked it out, the wall falling down into a large pit.
"Watch your step when coming out here. The platform is pretty small."
Zeon pulled himself out, and Xion followed a few seconds after. The platform they stood on was very narrow, and barely large enough to hold the both of them.
"Where are we?" Xion asked, looking around. There was nothing in this new room they had entered, except for a couple of rails and a strange ring that was just floating in mid air (it had propellers that neither of them could see).
"No idea. Guess Eggman just ran out of ideas of what to put in this place."
"Why would he have run out of ideas if he built a station this big?"
"I dunno. I don't work for the guy."
"Whatever. How do we get across?"
Zeon put his hand on his spines, "That's...a good question. I have no idea."
Xion looked down at her wrist, "You know, we haven't used these grappling hooks yet."
Zeon looked at his own wrist, "Oh yeah! I forgot we had those."
"Now, if only we...there!" She pointed at the floating ring, "We'll grapple onto that thing."
"Okay, but how?"
"Shoot your hook at it when you jump. Here, I'll go first."
…
? - To use the grappling hook, press X when a lock-on indicator appears on your target.
…
Xion jumped, and fired the grappling hook. A wire appeared from the device on her wrist and latched itself onto the floating ring.
"You okay?" Zeon yelled to her.
"Yeah, I'm fine! Now I just gotta get to that rail."
…
? - Use the left analog stick to swing back and forth when attached to a Wire Target. Press O to jump and release yourself.
…
Xion swung herself back and forth before releasing the wire and flying towards the rail, landing on it.
"Perfect, now to-"
Before she could say anything, she hit a "Dash Rail" and was shot forward. She rode the rail through a loop, and was then sent flying. She went through a Rainbow Ring that pushed her towards a platform on the other side.
"What-"
"Did you plan on doing that?!" Zeon yelled to her.
"Uhhhh...yeah?"
He didn't look convinced, so she just yelled back, "Just do what I did and get over here. Be careful with the rail."
…
She went towards the door, about to open it. However, it opened before she could do anything, and one of Eggman's robots stood face to face with her.
"Uhhhhhh...hi?" She said, while the robot stepped back and brought its arm up.
"Watch out!" She heard Zeon yell from behind her. She stepped aside, just as a wire flew past her, hit the robot in the face, and Zeon flew forward and slammed his Wispon into its face, activating the drill.
He pulled his Wispon out, and moved out of the way as the robot fell down into the pit.
Zeon put his Wispon over his shoulder, smiling, "Not bad, huh?"
"Yeah, sure. Let's keep going. I think we're getting close."
"Wow. Not even a thank you."
"Don't flirt with me, kid."
"I'm not flirting! That's the last thing I would be doing in a time like this!"
"Keep your voice down! They'll hear us."
…
Silver called in through the radio, "Hey, have you two found the control room yet?"
Xion responded, "We're almost there...we think."
"Well, I'm almost to the detention center. Make it quick."
Silver went silent again.
"You really think we're almost there?"
"Yeah. I can feel it."
"Can you actually feel it? Or is it just a premonition or something like that?"
She turned around and shot Zeon a glare, and he was quiet after that.
…
…
…
They were walking up the hallway when a group of robots exited a room to their left and continued down the hallway.
"That could be it," Xion said, pulling her Keyblade back out, "Be ready."
Zeon nodded, and they moved closer to the door.
Xion stopped him, peaking into the room. It sure looked like a control room, if Xion had ever seen one.
"Is it the control room?"
She looked back and nodded, "Four robots. I'll take two, you take two."
"Sounds good."
…
The two of them burst into the room, the robots all looking back at them as they ran towards them. Xion took down her two with two quick slashes, while Zeon took out one with the grappling hook and the other with his Wispon.
"Okay," she said, "I'll start looking for anything that might open the cell doors. Tell Silver we're here."
"Got it." He reached for his radio, "Silver, we made it to the control room. Trying to open the cell doors now."
"No. First, find out where Sonic is on security."
"Seriously?"
"Don't question it. Just do it."
Xion sighed, "Fine...camera controls should be here somewhere."
She pressed a button, and the screens changed to the prison hall. All of the cells on screen were empty.
"Not there. Let's keep looking."
Xion pressed the same button again. Same result.
"Any idea what he looks like?"
"He's a blue hedgehog. You can't miss him."
"Gotcha."
…
Xion hit the button a few more times, and finally found someone in one of the cells. It was a blue hedgehog, like Silver had said. He had binders around his wrists and ankles, and his face looked really down.
"That him?"
"Gotta be. He's the only one in any of the cells. Silver, we found Sonic. Cell 062391."
"Thanks, you two. Now get those cells open and get back to the shuttle ASAP."
Xion looked over at Zeon, "Help me find the cell doors button."
"Okay."
Xion looked over the entire board, but there were tons of button and none of them had a larger sign saying "This button will open the cell doors" on it.
…
"Damn," she said, "Where is this thing?"
"Maybe it's...this one." Zeon said, pressing one of the buttons.
A PA speaker rang out from inside the room, "Detention doors requires key."
"Key...hey, can you make this work?"
"I'll try..."
She pulled out her Keyblade, and pointed it at the control board. There was a small orb of light that came from her Keyblade, and went into the controls.
The PA speaker turned on again, "Access granted. Detention doors opening."
"Sweet! Now let's get-"
…
Before Zeon could finish, the door to the control room opened, and a silver-plated robot walked in. It brought both of its arms up, and fired a barrage of lasers at the two of them.
"Get down!" Xion yelled, both of them diving in opposite areas to get away. Xion quickly pulled out her Keyblade and shot a burst of lightning at the robot. The robot short-circuited, and fell to the ground.
Zeon was standing back up, using the control panel to pull himself up. But, his arm accidentally pressed down on a button. A large, red one.
When they heard it, they both looked over.
"What did you do?" Xion asked.
"Uhhhhhh…" was all he said, as Xion read the large label above the button.
"Activate Self Destruct"
"Ahh fu-"
The Death Egg shook violently, and the PA announcer said, "Self-destruct sequence initiated. Station will explode in...thirty minutes."
Silver came through a second later, "What did you guys do?!"
"We'll explain later! Just get Sonic and let's bail!" Xion yelled as the station continued to shake, "I'm not taking the blame for this when we get back to base!"
"Oh, come on! It was an accident!"
The two of them bolted out of the control room and down the hall.

"Well, this is how I'm going out, huh?"
That's what he was thinking as the Death Egg started shaking.
He was just sitting on his "bed". It's not like there was much he could do. His arms and legs were bound together, and his cell door was still shut.
"Of all the ways for Eggman to finish me off, it was self-destructing the Death Egg while I'm locked in jail? Lame. Could have done something cooler, like shooting me off into space. Now that would've been way better."
Sonic chuckled, but his smile and optimism faded quickly.
He put his head against the wall, and closed his eyes, "I'm sorry, guys. I let you all down..."
He sighed, but heard a voice say, "You haven't let us down when you haven't done anything yet."
He opened his eyes, and saw Silver standing in the doorway of his cell.
Suddenly, all of his hope and optimism came right back, "Silver!"
Silver put his hand up, and the restraints around his wrists and ankles were disconnected.
Sonic stood back up, stretching himself out, "Phew. Thank goodness you're here. My legs were gettin' stiff."
"Looks like you haven't changed."
Sonic gave him a thumbs up, "Thanks for the help. It's been a while since I've seen a friendly face."
"Well, you'll see plenty of them once we get back planetside. Now come on, we gotta get out of here before this place explodes with us still on it."
The two of them stepped out, and Silver started flying, "I'll meet you at the hangar. We have a shuttle there waiting to take us back."
"Perfect. See you then."
Silver took off.
…
Sonic did some light hops to warm up, "Alright, it's been a few months, but...I still got this. I still got this."
He took a deep breath, and then took off running.

Sonic ran down a long hallway as sirens wailed around him, hitting a spring that launched him to a smaller platform.
"Silver said to meet him in the hangar. Better not keep him waiting."
The PA announcer said, "Self destruction imminent in...twenty minutes."
"Ho boy...better get moving."
…
? - As you move the left analog stick forward, you'll continue to gain speed. Move it slightly forward to walk and fully forward to run.
…
Sonic ran down the hallway, starting off slow but gaining speed. Pretty soon, he was sprinting.
As he ran down the path (collecting Rings as he went along), he came across a capsule full of white Wisps. Once he hit it, the three Wisps trapped inside went into his chest.
Sonic was surprised as he kept running, "Wisps? What are you guys doing here? Things must be worse on the surface than I thought."
…
? - Collecting white Wisps will fill up Sonic's Boost gauge. You can boost by pressing the [] (A/N - pretend it's a square) button. However, using boost energy will drain the boost gauge. If the gauge is empty, then you will not be able to boost anymore.
…
A large pack of robots were running in the same direction of Sonic. Lots of them were in his path, and he couldn't stop quick enough.
He boosted, collecting more Rings that were in his path and to his sides, and plowed a bunch of the robots down. He stopped boosting after a few seconds, and then hit some dash panels before turning down the hall and into a more open area.
He looked left, and could see the reactor core of the Death Egg. As to be expected, it was growing brighter by the second.
"There's the reactor. Once the self destruct goes off, this is not the area you'd wanna be in."
Suddenly, some robots flew closer to him. Staying just ahead of him as he hit two more Wisp capsules. They were in a line, three taking up a lane of the path.
"Seriously? The station is about to explode and you guys are more concerned about me? Whatever. You guys won't stay around for long."
…
? - On certain stretches, you will only be able to move left and right between three lanes. Use the L1 and R1 buttons to Quick Step and change lanes faster.
…
Sonic was in the middle lane, and the robot in that lane went to fire a large laser at him. Sonic stepped into the left lane, just before the laser was gonna hit him. As he hit some more dash panels, the robots in the left and right lanes fired laser, and Sonic moved back into the middle land.
The robots then flew off, and Sonic hit a spring that sent him into the air, and he fell down into a large pit.
"Whoa!" He yelled, but gathered himself and adjusted so that he fell faster. He fell down farther into the Death Egg, landing on a platform.
There was no other path, but there were some flying robots that led to another platform.
…
? - While in the air, you can attack enemies with the Homing Attack. Press X when the lock-on indicator appears to perform a Homing Attack.
…
Sonic ran towards the edge, jumped up, and then immediately dashed towards the closest enemy, bouncing off and destroying it.
He did the same thing to the second closest enemy and then the last one, yelling out "Heh, how about that!" before landing on a dash panel and skyrocketing down a windey path. He hit another spring, landed on a rail, then hit a dash rail forward.
Sonic said to himself, "The hangar should be at the end of this rail. Once I'm there, we can get the heck out of here."
The robots that attacked him before returned, and repeated what they did with three rails now.
They attacked him while he was on the right rail, so he hopped over to the middle rail. They attacked the middle and left rails, so he went back to the right lane. The robots ran out of space, and they were destroyed after slamming into a wall.
Sonic was back on solid ground, and explosions started to come out from the walls. He boosted to get away, but they kept getting closer. He hit more Wisp capsules and continued to boost, while the explosions nearly caught up.
Fortunately, Sonic hit a jump panel and a blast door closed behind him.
"Woohoo!" He yelled out, doing a trick in the air and falling down to the ground.
As he ran forward, he saw a shuttle still sitting there unused.
"The hangar! Made it in one piece."
He hit the goal, and stopped.

"Not bad for a first run."
The robot knocked Xion down to the ground, and Zeon along with her. They had been ambushed after almost reaching the shuttle.
The robots closed in on the two of them, and they were backed against the wall.
"Well, this sucks..." Xion said.
Suddenly though, someone plowed through four of the robots, and then jumped up and slammed down into the last one.
The blue hedgehog, Sonic, had arrived. And right on time.
"Easy there," he said, putting his hand out to Xion, "Everything's cool."
"You...you're Sonic."
"Yep. The one and only."
He helped up Xion and then Zeon, asking them, "Were you two sent here to rescue me?"
Xion nodded, "Yeah. The name's Xion. That right there is-"
…
"What's wrong?" Sonic said, looking at what Xion was looking at.
Flying towards them was a massive bee shaped robot, surrounded by other robots of the same model. Someone, or something, was riding the back of the large bee robot.
A massive figure stepped out into the light, still on the massive robot. A large, red creature with massive horns and claw-like hands.
"Leaving so soon?" The creature said.
Sonic took a step closer, clenching his fist, "Zavok."
Haven't left this story on a cliffhanger in a while.
Hope y'all enjoyed. I still have quite a lot of work writing Modern Sonic stages, and it shows lol.
See you guys next time.
