Pendulum Heart
"My turn, draw!" Edo declares. "Prepare yourself, Yuzu Hiragi! In order to prove that Academia's teachings are correct…I will crush you, Yusho Sakaki's acquaintance!" He tells Yuzu. . Yuzu looks surprised, but then she smiles "What are you smiling for?!" Ruri asked. "Oh, nothing…It's just he was always holding onto it…The other half of Smile World" Yuzu comments. "I attack Yuzu Hiragi directly with Destiny HERO – Dystopia!" Edo declares. "That was a lie! It was all wrong! I was never smiling!" Edo insists to himself as he remembers facing Yusho's Performapal Sky Magician. But Edo is in denial; he remembers that he did indeed smile during the Duel "Go! Dystopia! Dystopia Blow!" Edo orders and Dystopia blasts a ball of blue energy at Yuzu.
The "Dystopia Blow" attack of Edo's "Destiny HERO – Dystopia" surges towards Yuzu, who turns and runs to the side. "Will this end it?" Mamoru asked. "Would you not like that? Slowpoke" Gloria asked. "N-No, of course not!" Mamoru protested. "And beside, my name isn't Slowpoke, its Noro Mamoru!" He orders her. Grace puts her hands behind her head "Aww man, this is a letdown" She complains. Yuzu hops along the platforms of Crossover. "I won't let you get an Action Card!" Edo snaps as he see her going for an Action Card, and he yanks the strand of Steel Cage Match, forcing Yuzu to sidestep down platforms and leap for the card. Edo was so distracted by his own shock that Yuzu is able to grab the card "Action Spell: Evasion! I negate a monster's attack" Yuzu declares in mid-air. She dodges the energy blast in midair with a pose and lands before straightening up with an easy smile. "No matter how much you struggle, your fate is sealed as long as I have Destiny HERO – Dystopia!" Edo warns Yuzu. "I end my turn here" he declares. "Dystopia and the Continuous Trap: Urban Demise...won't be an easy combo to break" Gloria observes. "If you attack, Urban Demise will increase Dystopia's ATK, allowing it to activate its effect to destroy an opponent's monster, right?" Grace observes. "Now then, what will you do, Yuzu?" She wonders. Mamoru was sweating "This is bad! Very bad! If this keeps up, I'll lose my position as Deputy Commander!" He thinks.
"He can only activate his combo once per turn. If you attack with multiple monsters it should be possible to break through but...Dystopia's ATK is 2900!" Ruri notes. "I know" Yuzu replies. "But I will push through with my Duelling!" She reaffirms. "You haven't given up on that?! He didn't even open up his heart to Yusho Sakaki!" Ruri asked. "No, he definitely did smile...I'm certain that Uncle opened up Edo Phoenix's heart. But Edo didn't want to accept that. That's why he's Duelling like this!" Yuzu replies. "My turn!" She declares and draws. She holds up her pendulum "You're heart is swaying! Just like this Pendulum!" Yuzu tells Edo. "My heart is swaying...!?" Edo asked Yuzu. "Between the feelings that the Professor's teachings are right, and the opposite you felt when Uncle, Yusho Sakaki, beat you in a Duel! You are torn between those to feelings" Yuzu explains. "Impossible!" Edo claims. "In truth, you actually smile when you Duelled Uncle, didn't you?" Yuzu further asked. "Quit spouting nonsense!" Edo snaps. "I'll make you remember!" Yuzu tells Edo as she smiles. "Pendulum Summon! Come back! Lola the Melodious Diva! (ATK: 2000) Mozarta the Melodious Pendulum Maestra!" Yuzu declares (ATK: 2600). "I release these two and Advance Summon!" She said. "Come, my singing comrade who makes anyone smile! Level 9! Aida the Melodious Diva!" Yuzu chants (ATK: 2500). "A joke of a monster! Duelling isn't child's play! It's a power used to fight!" Edo calls it. "Battle! I attack Dystopia with Aida!" Yuzu declares. "Battle with a lower ATK monster?" Gloria surprised. "She's got something planned! That's Yuzu's Entertainment Duelling!" Grace notes. "No matter what you're after the result won't change!" Edo thinks. "Continuous Trap: Urban Demise's effect! Dystopia's ATK increase by 100!" Edo declares (Dystopia's ATK: 3000). "When an opponent's monster increases their own ATK, Aida can increase her own by 1000 per monster increased until the Battle Phase ends!" Yuzu explains as smiles and clenches his fist (Aida's ATK: 3500). "Oh! This is a reversal in ATK!" Mamoru pleased. "That's what you were going for?" Edo mused. "But you should know it's pointless!" He warns her.
"I activate Dystopia's effect! When its ATK or DEF is changed, it can destroy one card on the field! Noble Justice!" Edo declares and Dystopia blasts a surge of energy from its chest. "Trap Activate: Melody's reverb!" Yuzu declares. "When an "Melodious" monster I control is targeted by a destruction effect, that effect is negated and I can destroy my opponent's monster!" She explains. Aida intercepts the attack with its staff and blasts it back. "I destroy the Equip Spell: Delay Armor and activate its effect!" Edo declares. "This turn, the equipped monster cannot be destroyed!" He states. The six probes of "Delay Armor" converge in front of Dystopia and they project a shield that blocks the energy blast. "But the battle will continue! Singing Spark!" Yuzu retorts and Edo was jolting painfully (Edo's LP: 3100). "Now, Aida's effect ends and its ATK return to normal! (Aida's ATK: 2500) With this I end my turn!" Yuzu states.
"What are you smiling for?!" Edo angrily asks. "It was all or nothing!" Yuzu replies. "These thrilling exchanges are fun, aren't they?" She asked. "I already told you that Duelling isn't child's play! You either win or lose! It is a power that determines victory or defeat" Edo snaps. "The results aren't everything! I want to understand people through Duelling! Then there won't be any need for conflict! Duelling isn't a tool for conflict" Yuzu replies. "I won't accept it!" Edo thinks.
(Flashback)
"I attack Yusho Sakaki directly with Dystopia! Dystopia Blow!" Edo declares and Yusho was blasted into a wall. "I end my turn here" Edo said. The force of the blast injury Yusho's leg "Have you finally given in to accepting that Academia's teachings are correct? Yusho Sakaki" Edo asked him. "If you are frustrated, then fight back" He urges Yusho. "No, just fighting back and forth in a Duel is boring" Yusho replies. "Boring? Then what will you do?!" Edo asked him. "That's obvious! I'll think of a plan to make you enjoy this! Because Duelling is fun, isn't it?" Yusho replies. "Fun…? Duelling!?" Edo confused by the concept. "You don't know? That Duelling is fun?" Yusho asked in concern. "What are you talking about?!" Edo asked. "Duelling is power! You polish your skills and use that power to rise up above others! That is Academia's, the Professor's teachings!" He states. Yusho smiles "Jeez...That Leo Akaka..." He scoffed in exasperation. "If we're going to Duel then...Let's make it fun! I activate the Spell Card: Smile World!" Yusho declare. "Put a smile on your face! If you rethink the cruelty that Academia has caused and smile with me, I will forgive Academia!" Yusho tell Edo. "Forgive?! What on earth are you talking about?!" Edo asked and Yusho, despite a glance at his injured leg "That's right! Forgiveness is the one path to ending this pointless conflict!" He replies. He Summoned Performapal Sky Magician and ascended into the air with it "Spread smiles with Duelling! Bring smiles to the world with Duelling! Bring smiles to everyone's future!" Yusho tells Edo. Sky Magician hurled a ring into the sky, causing fireworks to start "Put an end to your pointless fighting and have fun!" Yusho urges Edo. Edo beheld the spectacle in utter shock.

"Yusho Sakaki...Decided on his own that what Academia has done was cruelty!" Edo declares. "And said that if I smiled, he'd forgive them! And acted as if that alone would end this war!" He claims. "Uncle..." Yuzu whisper. "Forgive Academia..." Ruri whisper. "Duelling isn't fun!" Edo rebuffs. "I will never accept Yusho Sakaki's way of Duelling! The only way of Duelling I believe in is Academia's" He claims. "My turn!" Edo declares and draws. "Battle! I attack Aida with Dystopia! Dystopia Blow!" He declares. Yuzu tries to run for an Action Card again "I won't let you escape!" Edo declares as he jerks the strand of "Chain Deathmatch" and holds Yuzu in place and Aida was destroyed. Yuzu screams as she was yanked to the side and hits the ground (Yuzu's LP: 400). "I thought she'd do something more exciting with it...But it got destroyed so anticlimactically..." Grace laments. "Only 400 LP remaining. Yuzu Hiragi's at her end" Gloria declares. "I'm at my end too! I need to think of a plan to save myself!" Mamoru thinks in horror. "I set one card. And end my turn" Edo said. "Frustrated, are we?" He asked Yuzu. "If you're frustrated, then fight back!" He encourages her. Yuzu gets to her feet "I won't Duel just to fight back and forth! If I do that, then the conflict will never end!" She refused. "Yuzu...Even after being pushed this far, you still..." Ruri shocked. "That's right...Those are uncle's feelings!" Yuzu confirms with herself. "The fun has just begun!" She declares.
"My turn!" Yuzu declares and she draws her own "Smile World". "Uncle! I knew it! Uncle has the same feelings as I do!" Yuzu smiles. Spotlights snap on Yuzu "Ladies and Gentleman!" She declares. "Here it comes!" Grace exclaims as Noro claps, but stops after Gloria shoots him a look. "I shouldn't get caught up in her pace" Noro admits. "Just in case, I should call for backup…" He decides. "You still intend to continue the same farce just like that stubborn Yusho Sakaki?!" Edo angrily asked. "First take a look at our guests in the Pendulum Zone! I select my Dulcet the Melodious Diva and activate the Spell Card: Scale up!" Yuzu declares. "Until this turn's End Phase, its Scale will increase by 2!" She explains (Dulcet's Scale: 11). "Scale 11!" Edo observers. Dulcet the Melodious Diva and Soprano the Melodious Songstress rise in the new Scale. "With this newly set scale, I can now simultaneously Summon monsters from Levels 5 to 10" Yuzu explains. "Swing, pendulum of the soul! Draw an arc of light across the aether!" She chants. "Another Pendulum Summon?!" Edo asked. "Yes! While you are swaying just like this Pendulum" Yuzu replies "I want you to enjoy this Duel!"She suggested as she bows. "My heart it not swaying!" Edo screams. "Pendulum Summon! Come back! Lola! (ATK: 2000) Mozarta the Melodious Pendulum Maestra! (ATK: 2600) And…Aida!" Yuzu declares (ATK: 2500). "I get it, increasing the Pendulum Scale was so she could bring back Aida! This is going to be outside of Edo's calculations" Grace realizes. "But no matter how many times you call them back, it's no use!" Edo tells Yuzu. "Don't be so unpleasant and just try and get along!" Yuzu replies.
"I activate the Spell Card: Melody Major!" She declares. "I select one "Melodious" monster I control, and all monsters I control with lower Level than it are switch to my opponent's control!" She explains. "To my control?!" Edo surprised. "I select Aida and send Lola and Mozarta the Melodious Pendulum Maestra to my opponent's field!" Yuzu said. "What do you plan to do sending your monsters to my field?!" Edo asked Yuzu (Lola attempts to greet "Dystopia", but is ignored and sweat drops as a result). "Waiting and wondering what will happen is all part of fun!" Yuzu replies. "Quit screwing around!" Edo tells Yuzu. "Not need to be so testy! Now that it's gotten so lively over there, let's cast a spell that brings a smile to the faces of friends and foe alike!" Yuzu tells him. "I activate the Spell Card: Smile World!" She declares. "Smile World…!" Edo angrily said, and the colourful faces fill the field "This is-!" Mamoru impressed seeing it for the first time. "No matter how many times I see it makes me feel so happy!" Grace cheers. "Again?" Gloria irritation. Edo scowls. "With this, all monsters' ATK increase by 100 for each monster on the field this turn!" She explains (Lola's ATK: 2400, Dystopia's ATK: 3400, Mozarta's ATK: 3000, Aida's ATK: 2900)."I will never give in to smiling! I will not be fooled by this!" Edo seethes. "That's strange...you should be smiling and filled with energy right now...Like this!" Yuzu states. "I activate Aida's effect!" She declares. "Its ATK increases by 1000 for every monster whose ATK that was increased this turn until the battle Phase ends!" She explains. "Four times then!?" Edo gasped in horror as all of his monsters begin laughing, sending out pulses that increase the ATK of Aida as she chuckles (Aida's ATK: 6900). "An ATK of 6900!?" Grace gasped. "Even the Commander-in-Chief won't be able to make it out of this!" Mamoru claims. "Don't be ridiculous. She's set up the activation conditions for Demise Urban!" Gloria tells him.
"Due to Smile World changing Dystopia's ATK, I activate his effect! I destroy Aida!" Edo declares. Yuzu runs along the platforms again, hunting for an Action Card, and Edo grabs the strand of Chain Deathmatch "You're still going after an Action Card?! I won't let you!" He reiterates. But Yuzu bends the strand over the edge of one of the platforms and she laughs as she swings from it like a trapeze. "This thing is in the way!" Edo snaps. "I activate Chain Deathmatch's effect!" He declares. "By sending one card to my Graveyard, I destroy this card!" He explains. The mesh fence surrounding them dissolves, as does the chain just before Yuzu could reach an Action Card. Aida was destroyed and Yuzu hops down the platforms and rolls to a stop on the ground at the bottom of the building. Edo holds up the Action Card "Too bad" He comment.
(Flashback)
Edo remembers Yusho and Sky Magician. Yusho was laughing "Laugh more! Enjoy yourself more!" He calls out.
(Flashback end)
Yuzu runs away from the building. "How about you give yourself up already?" Edo asked Yuzu. He and his monsters leap down the platforms to Yuzu. "With Aida destroyed, you have no way to win" Edo claims. "Just give in and accept your defeat. Surrender!" He tells Yuzu. "Let's save that for after you enjoy this attraction!" Yuzu replies. "You still going to do more?!" Edo asks. "Well of course, this is Smile World! I won't end until everyone is smiling!" Yuzu replies.
"By Aida being destroyed while under the effect of Smile World, I can Special Summon one monster from my Graveyard!" Yuzu states. "What?!" Edo surprised. "The card I will Special Summon is… Alouette the Pendulum Maestra!" Yuzu declares. "When this card is Special Summoned the ATK of all monsters on the field become 0 until the End Phase!" she reminds Edo (Lola's ATK: 0, Dystopia's ATK: 0, Mozarta's ATK: 0). "Now, be reborn from the Graveyard! Honourable Angel! Alouette the Pendulum Maestra!" Yuzu chants (ATK: 3000). "The one Fusion Monster I already sent to the Graveyard…! You brought it back again!?" Edo muse. "This is the Fusion Monster I needed to communicate to you, from the Fusion Dimension!" Yuzu replies. "Communicate, you say!?" Edo asks. "Alouette the Pendulum Maestra's ATK increase by 100 for every monster whose ATK was changed to 0!" Yuzu explains (Alouette's ATK: 3300). "Now then, let's begin! I attack Dystopia with Alouette the Pendulum Maestra!" She declares. "If this goes through, Yuzu will win!" Grace comments. "Dystopia's effect can only be activated once per turn...He can't use the Demise Urban combo anymore!" Gloria observes. Edo closed his eyes.
(Flashback)
Edo remembers Dystopia clashing with Sky Magician. "Duelling is a conversation! If you open your heart, Duelling will be even more fun!" Yusho tells Edo.
(Flashback ends)
Edo opens his eyes "Continuous Trap: Urban Demise's effect! I increase Dystopia's ATK by 100" He declares (Dystopia's ATK: 100). "Additionally I activate the Trap Card: D-Soul!" Edo declares. "I banish one Destiny HERO from my Graveyard and increase Dystopia's ATK by that monster's!" He explains as he banish Destiny HERO – Drilldark from hid Graveyard (Dystopia's ATK: 1700). "But against an ATK of 1700 it won't…!" Mamoru notes. "There's still more! If you want to communicate with Fusion Monsters, then I will speak to you with this tool of you Lancers! Action Spell: Double Attack!" Edo declares. "Until the Battle Phase ends, I double the ATK of a monster!" He explains (Dystopia's ATK: 3400). "His ATK is higher than Alouette's now!" Mamoru impress. Yuzu flees and Aster watches her in bewilderment as he remembers.

"I want to understand people through Duelling! With you, and Leo Akaba…"Yusho tells Edo.

Dystopia draws back its fist and Alouette charges up a blast - and Yuzu trips, and she somersaults. "Looks like that's the end…" Edo laughs. "Action Spell: Miracle Fire!" Yuzu declares. "I gain the effect of one Action Spell card activated this turn!" He explains. "I copy Double Attack's effect and activate it! I double the ATK of one monster!" Yuzu declares and Alouette was surrounded in light as she draws back her head and hymns (Alouette's ATK: 6600). "This is the finale!" Yuzu declares. "Fire off the grand finish!" She suggests. "Shining Mega Smile Shout!" She declares. Alouette blast a blue ray of light at Edo, who gasps, but then closes his eyes and accepts defeat as the light ricochet off him and explode as smiling fireworks in the sky. "How pretty!" Grace calls it as Gloria and Mamoru look on. Edo lies on the ground with his forearm over his eyes (Edo's LP: 0). "I lost…To Entertainment again…"Edo laments. But even so, Edo smiles, and the sun shines through the clouds as Crossover dissipates. "She did it! She really is the best!" Grace cheers before hugging Gloria. "Yes, now my position is safe" Mamoru relieved. "This isn't the time to be celebrating! We've been defeated by the Lancers again! If this reaches the Professor's ears…" Gloria protest. Mamoru coughs and smirks "I won't let that happen. I've already brought reinforcements" He reassures her. Jeeps arrive and Academia students leap out and surround Yuzu and Edo.
