Hello everyone! We are halfway through the arc! Now I read one of the reviews about Vaan being the Hulk. Let me explain, his Sembalance allows him to suppress his pain tolerance, much like Hazel, and allow him to become stronger. I figure that Vaan, since he has a bit of a multiple personality disorder, would have a fourth one compare to the three he has, and this one would be more of a beast than a person, much like in the movie Split.
Anyways, here is part two of the White Fang Arc!
Chapter 47
Arthur gritted his teeth as he fired bullets from his Righteous Fury gauntlets at Otengui, but the Raven Faunus kept teleporting away from Arthur's attacks. He had to admit it, it was annoying to fight Otengui, especially since he can teleport like Mercury and use wind like Emerald. Only difference is that Otengui knows how to use both of those abilities to his advantage. While the two of them fought, Weiss just kneeled in her cage as she was forced to do nothing but watch the two of them fight. In her heart, Weiss prayed that Arthur would win and save her.
As Otengui blew Arthur away with his Wind Sembalance and unfolded his bladed fan, he chuckled a bit and said "Surprised to see you here. Tell me, how in the hell did you track us down?"
Arthur replied "Let's just say a crazy person told us. But that doesn't matter right now, you are going to hand over Weiss right now."
Otengui laughed and said "Oh, that is not going to happen. We all have big plans for her."
"What?" Arthur said, "Kill her and allow Atlas to have a full-scale war against Menagerie?"
A bit surprised, Otengui said "Ok, I am kinda surprise that you would know of that plan."
"I didn't," Arthur said, "Jonathan was the one who thought of that. And seeing the reaction on your face, I can assume he was right."
Otengui smirked and said "Well, that guy sure is full of surprises. But no matter, once I am done with you, I will have to take the heiress here somewhere secure."
"Why do you care?" Arthur asked.
Otengui replied "I care because her father is to blame for my home being burned to the ground. And before you ask, yes, I do have evidence linking him to a bandit tribe he hired that was responsible for the destruction of my home."
A bit surprised, Arthur looked over at Weiss, who had her head down, as Otengui said "Oh, don't mind her right now. She is still devastated from the news she heard."
"News?" Arthur asked, "What news?"
Otengui chuckled and replied "Let's just say that I had a nice chat with her father and, well, let's just say he valued his company more than his own daughter."
Gripping his fists, Arthur said "That bastard…"
"Exactly," Otengui said, "I gave him a choice and he chose his company over his daughter. Don't worry though, I told him he would get his daughter back…in some pieces."
"I won't let you kill her!" Arthur said as the blades from his Righteous Fury came out, "I will save her!"
Otengui laughed as he said "You are welcome to try."
Gritting his teeth, Arthur charged at Otengui and swung his blades, but Otengui easily dodged his attacks while he swung his folded blade fans at him. Arthur did his best to dodge Otengui's attacks, but the Raven Faunus managed to scrap his armor. Aiming his Righteous Fury at Otengui, Arthur fired countless bullets at him, but Otengui opened his fans and blocked the bullets with them. Having enough, Arthur rushed to him and swung his blades at Otengui, but he suddenly vanished into thin air, leaving only his cloak as Arthur slashed through it. Wondering where Otengui went, he heard a faint sound behind him, turned around and saw Otengui standing on one of the crates. However, When Arthur and Weiss saw him, they both gasped in shock and awe. He was no longer wearing his mask or his cloak and revealed his true appearance: he had hazel eyes and long black hair that was in a ponytail. But the one aspect that took out was the large black wings coming out from his back and were shining.
As Weiss stared in awe, Arthur said "You're…a Faunus? Why are your wings…"
Otengui then replied "My people had a special ritual for avian Faunus like myself. When we are born, the shaman in out tribe would see which element we were align to. Mine was Wind, so they dipped my wings with Wind Dust, and now…"
He spread his wings as wind danced around him and said "The wind is at my side."
When he flapped his wings at Arthur, a huge gust of wind appeared and knocked him to a nearby wall. Gritting in pain, when Arthur recovered, Otengui was already in front of him and swung his fans at him. Arthur was lucky that he managed to block Otengui's attacks, but his luck ran out when Otengui spun around and released a powerful blast of wind that knocked him into the air. Seeing Arthur helpless in the air, Otengui teleported around Arthur as he slashed him from different directions. With one final attack, Otengui sent Arthur flying to the ground where he crashed. Weiss gasped in shock as she closed her eyes and looked away. Arthur grunted in pain as he slowly got up and felt his Aura drop greatly.
While he got up, Otengui landed in front of him and said "You might as well give up. I know all your techniques, any attack you make, I already know and how to counter it."
Once he was on his feet, Arthur said "I will never give up. So long as I breathe, I will keep on fighting."
Otengui shook his head and said "Very well, then you will die here."
He then attached the ends of his folded fans as a long blade popped out. When he pressed a button on the handle, wind started to gather around the blade as Otengui got into his fighting stance. Seeing he was about to attack, Arthur crossed his blades so they form an X as Otengui charged at him and swung his blade. What happened next was an instant as Otengui was suddenly behind Arthur as his sword was pointed outward. Almost a second has passed before Arthur's blades were sliced off and a large gash appeared from his right shoulder down to his left stomach area as blood spurted from his wound. As Arthur fell to the ground, Weiss screamed through her gagged as she saw Arthur fallen.
Otengui spun his sword and said "Such a waste. If only you gave up."
When he took his weapon apart and placed them on his hip, he walked towards Weiss and said "Now princess, let's get you out of here before anything else happens."
Right before he was about to approach the cage, white fire suddenly appeared between the cage and Otengui. Shocked, Otengui was wondering what was going on when he turned around and saw Arthur getting up. Arthur then took off his Righteous Fury gauntlet and his armor, leaving him shirtless and armorless.
"Oh my god," Otengui whined, "Why can't you stay down?! You are out of Aura, your weapons are useless and your armor is gone! Why keep going?!"
Taking a final breath, Arthur gripped Excalibur, unsheathed it, turned as he points Excalibur at Otengui and said "I told you, I will not give up. I will save Weiss, no matter what."
Otengui grunted and said "I guess I have to try harder to kill you then."
Getting into his stance once again, Otengui charged at Arthur once more, however, unlike last time, Arthur managed to block the Raven Faunus' attack this time. Both fighters struggled to see who can overpower who until Arthur pushed him back and sliced him, depleting some of Otengui's Aura. Gritting his teeth, Otengui gripped his sword as he teleported behind Arthur and, right before he was about to slash at him, white fire appeared from his back and pushed Otengui away.
As fire danced around Arthur's body, he turned to Otengui and said "You've said that I came along. Here is a thing about wolves…they travel in pack."
Before Otengui was about to ask what he meant, Arthur covered his sword in his Holy Fire, points it at him as a few white fireballs appeared. However, those fireballs soon turned into heads of wolves and were heading towards him. A bit shocked, Otengui teleported away from the attack but soon the fire wolves started to head to his direction. Alerted, Otengui used his fans combined with his Wind Dust to blow away the fire wolves. Once they were gone, Otengui thought it was over until he felt a slash on his back and was forced back on the ground. In slight pain, Otengui turned around and saw Arthur standing there with Excalibur in both hands. When Otengui once again got into his fighting stance, he saw Arthur holding up his left hand and he suddenly felt something hot behind his back. When he turned around, Otengui was in shock when he saw his wings were covered in fire. He then tried to use his Wind Sembalance and Wind Dust to put out the fire. Thanks to his Aura, Otengui managed to keep his wings safe from the fire so that they wouldn't be badly burnt.
However, Otengui was too distracted to put out the fire on his wings when Arthur charged at him. He gripped Excalibur as he channeled his Holy Fire through the blade and increased the density of it. Right when Otengui finished putting out the fire, it was already too late as Arthur swung his sword across Otengui's head and sends the Raven Faunus crashing to a wall. Before Otegnui could recover, Arthur channeled more Holy Fire into his sword as he increased the density and the fire blade grew up to 4 feet. When he points the tip end of his sword at Otengui, the Raven Faunus just raised his fans as Arthur thrust the sword at him. Unable to move out of the way or teleport, due to his Aura being dangerously low all of a sudden, Otengui just unfolded his fans, overlapping one another as Excalibur press itself against Otengui's weapons. As both fighters were struggling, Arthur increased the head of the blade and was beginning to melt through the fans. With a loud shout and the final push, Arthur destroyed both of Otengui's fans and pierced towards Otengui's chest. The Raven Faunus cried in pain as he felt his Aura completely gone and felt the burning sensation of Arthur's attack as he was pushed through the wall. The force knocked Otengui to the ground as his chest was burnt and was barely moving due to the pain until finally, Otengui just collapsed and was knocked out.
Seeing his opponent defeated, Arthur sighed in relief as he made his way to the cage where Weiss was at. He raised his sword, destroyed the lock and forced the cage to open. Placing his sword to the side, Arthur walked in and untied Weiss. Before he could do anything else, Weiss quickly takes off the cloth that was gagging her mouth and wrapped her arms around his neck and cried.
Arthur held her close as she said between her cries "I…I thought I was going to die! I thought no one was going to save me! That I don't matter!"
"Sh, Sh, Sh," Arthur said, "You matter to me, Weiss. And I will always be there for you."
Weiss cried some more as she looked at Arthur once more before kissing him on the lips. Arthur kissed back as he wrapped his arms around her and held her close, keeping her safe in his arms.
Riku was pushed back as Adam sheathed his sword and dashed towards him. The two clashed their blades against each other all while avoiding each other's attacks. Still chained to the wall, Blake watched helplessly as Riku was trying to keep up with Adam's attacks.
As Riku was pushed back, Adam glared at him and said "You think you can save her? She will turn her back when you get close to her."
Riku gripped his sword and said "That's not true. I know Blake, she will never run away, especially her friends."
Hearing Riku say that, Adam chuckled darkly and said "That is what I thought so too. But in the end, she left me to join you weak humans."
"Hey," Riku said, "We are not weak, we are stronger than you think."
"Well then," Adam said as he gripped his weapon, "Then you will die here. I vowed to take away everything Blake ever loves, that means you."
After a moment of silence between the two of them, Riku finally turned to Blake and simply asked in a teasing way "Wait…you love me? Blake, I had no idea."
As Blake rolled her eyes and blushed a bit, her eyes widen in shock as she screamed "Look out!"
Alerted, Riku turned and saw Adam charging in as he swung his sword. In instant, Riku managed to block Adam's attack as he pushed a button as lightning danced around his blade. Once Adam was a few feet away from Riku, the young man swung his sword and sent a large charge of lightning at Adam. However, the Bull Faunus smirked as he quickly drew his blade a bit as the lightning made contact with the red blade and was being absorbed into the blade and then to Adam. Once he was done absorbing Riku's attack, Adam sheathed his sword back as his hair glowed red for a bit.
Seeing this, Riku said "Ok…what just happened?"
Blake then shouted "Riku, watch out! He can absorb your attack and send it back!"
Adam smirked and said "Too late."
Gripping his sword, Adam unsheathed it and swings it at Riku, sending a slash of red energy at Riku. As Blake gasped in shock as the red energy closed in, Riku instantly jumped into the air and dodged it as the slash sliced through a few crates and left the wall behind him scorched from the slash.
When Riku landed on his feet, Adam was surprised and said "What the…how can you dodge my attack that fast?"
Riku smirked and said "I'm from a long line of assassins, my reaction time has to be perfect."
As he got into his fighting stance, he then thought to himself "I can't use my Lightning Dust on him, otherwise, he'll just absorb it like before. Guess I have to do it old fashion."
"You have no chance against me, human," Adam said, "Give up and die."
"No can do," Riku said, "Since Blake there told me about your Sembalance, I have to fight you old school."
Adam huffed and said "Your funeral."
He then pulled a trigger from his weapon as the katana shot out of the sheath and flew towards Riku. In a quick reflex, Riku used his sword to deflect the blade upward as Adam changed the sheath into a rifle, aimed it at Riku and fired a few shots at him. As a few bullets hit Riku's Aura, Adam charged in as he managed to get his sword back and slashed at Riku. Distracted, Riku gritted his teeth as he took a few steps back as Adam sheathed his weapon and slashed at Riku a few more times. However, Riku managed to deflect Adam's attack while trying to land an attack the Bull Faunus. When Adam moved back, Riku charged in and swung his sword, but Adam blocked his attack with his weapon.
Adam smirked and said "How do you hope to beat me without using your Dust?"
Riku replied "I will beat you and save Blake, no matter what."
In a fit of rage, Adam pushed Riku back as he slashed his sword at him. But Riku blocked Adam's attack as he moved far away from him. Adam aimed his sheath/rifle at Riku and fired a few more shots as Riku deflect them once more. Sheathing his sword once again, Adam charged at Riku as he pulled the trigger and shot his sword at Riku. But the young man blocked the sword as the weapon spun in the air, but before Adam could get it back, Riku smirked as he covered his sword with Lightning Dust and swings it at Adam, sending multiple bolts of lightning at him. As Adam cried in pain a bit, Riku dashed towards him and moved right past him as he swung his sword outward. After a few seconds, Adam's Aura flared up and his mask cracked a bit before it completely broke off of him.
As Adam fell on one knee, Riku sighed in relief as he turned around and said "Now it's my turn to say it: Give up."
Adam grunted and said "I will not surrender to a human. But, you forget one thing."
"Oh?" Riku asked, "And what's…"
Bang!
The gunshot caused Riku to gasped in short breaths as he felt a sharp pain in his chest. He slowly looked down and saw a gunshot wound in the center of his chest!
"RIKU!" Blake cried as she saw Riku fall to knees.
Adam then slowly got up as he gripped his rifle and said "My sword isn't my only weapon I can use my Sembalance with."
He then walked over to his sword that was on the ground, picked it up and said "You humans believe you are better than us, but we are far superior."
Hearing Adam walking towards him, Riku looked up and saw Adam's real face. However, what caught his eye was the letters 'SDC' branded on his left eye while his right eye was blue. When Adam was standing in front of Riku, he said "You humans have hurt me long before Blake hurt me, and not I will take everything from her."
He then raised his sword and said "Starting with you."
Unable to watch, all Blake could do is close her eyes and Adam thrust his sword downward on Riku. After what seemed like an eternity and believing Adam killed Riku, she heard Adam's voice saying "W-What is this?"
Quickly opening her eyes, Blake saw Riku still on his knees as his body glowed purple and a was protected by a ribcage as it stopped Adam's sword from hurting him. As Adam struggled to pierce through the ribcage to kill Riku, Riku looked up at him and said "No…I will not die here. I will save Blake and, if you want me to be a racist human, PUT YOU DOWN LIKE THE DOG YOU ARE!"
Just then, a skeleton arm appeared and knocked Adam away from Riku. When Adam recovered, he saw the skeleton fully completed. Riku gritted his teeth as he slowly recovered while the skeleton slowly turned to Adam as the bones creaked and twisted. Feeling a bit worried, Adam sheathed his weapon and got into his fighting stance.
Slowly recovering, Riku said "I vow to protect Blake no matter what, no matter what."
Just then, the skeleton twitched as muscle started to form around until it was a large body of muscle while the lower half was that of a ghost. Having enough, Adam charged to in hopes to reach Riku, but the creature was acting like a guardian and got in Adam's way. Thinking he can easily kill this 'Guardian', Adam quickly drew his blade and swung it at the Guardain, but it had no effect on the creature as the blade bounced off it's skin. The Guardian charged at Adam and knocked the Bull Faunus away. Quickly recovering, Adam held up his rifle and fired at it. But the Dust Bullets bounced off of the Guardian as it dashed towards Adam. But Adam quickly got out of the way and slashed at it, but the Guardian was not affected by it.
"What the hell?!" Adam shouted, "Why aren't my attacks working?!"
Just then, he noticed something out of the corner of his eye, turned and saw Riku on his feet once again as he swung his sword and sent a bolt of lightning at Adam. But Adam smirked as he held up his blade and once again absorb the lighting. Once he sheathed his blade and glowed red, Adam grinned as he slashed at Riku and sent a wave of energy at him. As soon as the red energy was about to slice through Riku, the Guardian appeared in front of him, spread it's arms and blocked the attack as it once again had no effect on it.
In complete shock, Adam shouted "How is that possible?! That should have sliced right through it and you!"
Distracted, Riku jumped over the Guardian, rushed towards Adam with great speed and said "How about drop dead!"
With that, Riku slashed at Adam, which completely depleted his Aura. And once Adam's Aura was gone, Riku's Guardian appeared once more as it punched Adam right in the face and sent him crashed through a few crates and just laid there unconscious. Taking in deep breaths, Riku slowly walked to where Blake was as the Guardian ripped the chains off of her and eased her to the ground and disappeared into Riku. Finally collapsing to his knees, Blake rushed to him and hugged him tightly.
She then started to cry a bit and said "I-I thought he would kill you."
Riku slowly hugged her back and said "Me too. But…I got lucky. I'm glad you are safe now."
As Blake softly smiled as he tried to get up and said "We have to get out of here before Edge Lord over there decides to get up again. And I don't have any strength left to fight him."
Blake quickly nodded as she placed his right arm over her shoulders and helped him move. She was happy in her heart that Riku almost risked his life to save her, she will have to repay him when they escape. But right now, her only focus is getting out of there safely before Adam recovers. She hopes that everyone else was alright.
I hope you guys enjoyed liked this chapter! I figure I make Riku's Sembalance like in the Kingdom Hearts games where he can summon his apparently OP Guardian to help him. But it will only work when he is dangerously low on health and Aura, hence the Guardian name. Anyways, hope you all enjoyed these fights and see you all in the last part! Until then, please review!
