Alright, this took longer than expected given the way last week's SVU turned out and me starting 5 Stages. But, we're back. Maybe have tissues for this one?

Olivia was running down Houston Street in foot pursuit of a suspect, screaming into her portable radio when it happened. Shots rang out, Olivia shot the suspect, but not before she too was shot. She called it in and lay there, her breath heavy, bleeding profusely from her thigh, just above her knee. She sat up against the wall and cried out in pain, tears running down her face. She rested against the wall when she noticed her vision going dark. "Help me," she whispered.

Trevor was ready to head into court when his phone rang. "Liv, I'm about to—" he dropped everything and ran out of the courthouse, hailing a cab to go to the hospital. He ran into the ER over to the intake desk. He took a moment to catch his breath. "My wife. My wife is here, she was shot. I— I need to see her. Olivia Langan." Panic was evident in his voice.

"Let me page her doctor. I'm not sure where she is right now." The nurse picked up the phone and made a page directly to the doctor and called overhead.

Trevor took a few deep breaths. "She needs to be okay. We— we have two kids at home. She needs to be okay."

The nurse picked up the phone and spoke in hushed tones. "Thank you." She looked up at Trevor. "That was the doctor. She'll be right out."

The doctor came out quickly, a scrub cap on, looking ready to get into an operating room. "Olivia Langan's husband?" She saw Trevor nod. "Your wife is in critical condition. She lost a lot of blood. She was shot in the leg, nicking the femoral artery. It wasn't severed, so she didn't bleed out, but she did lose a lot of her blood volume. We're going to take her up to surgery, we've got trauma surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and cardio surgeons. I'll keep you updated when I can. But we have to move now. We can't waste time, not if we want to save her life and her leg."

Trevor nodded. "She's A positive, I… if she lost a lot of blood she was probably unconscious coming in. Does her squad know? Can I have her phone to make some calls. Mine is at the courthouse. I dropped everything and ran."

The doctor nodded. "I'll have an intern bring out her personal effects for you. I promise you, we are going to do everything we can."

Trevor took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. "Thank you," he sat on one of the chairs, his elbows resting on his knees, his head in his hands and he broke down in sobs.

An intern brought out a plastic bag with Olivia's things. He was young and sat next to Trevor. "Mr. Langan," he said gently. "I have your wife's things."

Trevor wiped his eyes. "Thank you." He took her phone out and typed in her password, their anniversary. He called his mother and struggled to speak without crying. "Mom?" He took a deep breath. "I need you to stay with the kids."

Marie heard his son's voice. "Trevor, what's wrong?"

Trevor took a deep breath. "Olivia was shot. She's in surgery, I— I don't know how long… I can't lose her mom. I can't."

Marie gasped. "Okay, I will go to the apartment and hang out with the kids, as long as you need me to. Keep me updated. Even if it's just through text."

Trevor nodded. "I will. Thanks Ma. I love you." He hung up and called Fin. "Fin, it's Trevor." He rubbed the back of his neck. "How much do you know?" He took a deep breath as he listened. "She's in surgery, she lost a lot of blood," he took a deep breath. "Yeah, I'll let you know when I do. Could be a while." He ran his hand over his face. "I'm not going anywhere. Not until they discharge her." He nodded. "Thanks." He hung up and started pacing the floor. After what felt like days, he saw the doctor come out and he walked over to her. "How is she?"

The doctor took a breath. "We fixed the nick in the artery, we transfused and we got the bullet out and cleaned the wound of any debris, right now it's open to allow the swelling go down. She has a splint on her leg as well as some hardware keeping her bone together, so she can't move it much, and it's elevated. She lost a lot of blood. She's in recovery, but she's not awake yet. I can take you to see her."

Trevor nodded and followed the doctor back to the recovery room, seeing Olivia laying in bed, a tube down her throat, her leg elevated, tubes and wires all over her body. "Oh, baby," he whispered, knowing she was still knocked out. He sat next to her and stroked her hair, taking her hand in both of his, kissing her knuckles. "Please wake up. I need you, we're not done yet, Liv. We're not finished. You are not finished. You need to fight, you need to wake up. Please," he begged.

The doctor looked on before turning and walking away. Trevor stayed where he was, falling asleep, his head on her lap. He woke up to the feeling of his hair being stroked. He looked up at Olivia, seeing her eyes open, dazed, the tube out of her mouth. "Hey," she rasped.

Trevor gasped and stood up, kissing her lips passionately, cradling her face in his hands. "You're alive," he whispered. "You're awake and you're talking, you're okay."

Olivia gave a lazy smile. "I'm too stubborn to die." She took his hand. "Can I have some water?" She asked looking up at him.

Trevor caressed her face. "Of course." He poured her a glass of water and gave it to her to drink. "Have you talked to the doctor?"

She nodded. "When I first woke up, I called them in and they extubated me. They wanted to wake you up, but I told them to let you sleep," he smiled. "Once the tube was out they gave me a PCA pump of morphine, I've been in and out ever since."

He kissed her knuckles. "So you know what happened?"

Olivia nodded. "I was in foot pursuit of a suspect and I got shot. Nicked my femoral artery, lost a lot of blood, the impact of the bullet broke my leg, they did surgery and transfused and I'm out of commission for at least a few months, possibly up to a year while my leg heals."

Trevor nodded. "I was so afraid you were never going to wake up, that I was gonna lose you, that our kids were going to lose you."

She squeezed his hand. "Never," she whispered. "Trevor, I love you. So much," she kissed his knuckles and gazed into his eyes.

He gently caressed her face. "How are you feeling?"

Olivia adjusted her position in bed. "Like I got hit by a truck. And I have to sleep on my back because some asshole shot me in my leg and it's now broken and needs to be elevated. Which I hate. But the morphine knocks me out, I could fall asleep in just about any position, including standing. But, ya know, I can't stand because I have a goddamn hole in my leg and a whole bunch of metal holding my leg together."

Trevor smirked. "But other than that, you doing alright?"

She chuckled. "Ow. I can't do that." She took a breath. "I'm alive. And I'm not going anywhere. Besides. I'm not sure I believe in God or heaven, but I certainly believe in Hell. I've been there. And the Devil sure as shut doesn't want me there, because he knows I could take his punches, get up, and ask if that's all he's got." She looked at him. "I'm gonna live forever, because no one in charge of any afterlife wants me."

He kissed her forehead. "I want you."

Olivia gently pulled him closer and kissed his lips softly. "You have me, Trev. All of me." She rested back on the pillows and closed her eyes. "I'm going to get some more morphine, I hurt so bad. They don't tell you how bad it hurts getting shot in the Academy." She looked at him. "Stay."

Trevor nodded. "I'm not going anywhere," he kissed her hand. He saw her push the button to dispense more morphine. "I'll be here when you wake up, beautiful."

She smiled and felt herself drifting off to sleep. She slept for another couple hours and woke up and looked around the room, seeing Trevor sleeping on the side of her mattress. She ran her fingers through his hair and pressed the nurse call button, seeing a nurse come in. "Can I get something to eat? I'm hungry."

The nurse smiled. "Of course. I'll be right back." She looked at Trevor. "He can sleep in the bed with you. I know you're probably scared and he helps you feel safe."

Olivia smiled. "Yeah. Thanks." She watched the nurse walk out of the room and she rubbed his back, seeing him stir. "Climb into bed with me, Trev."

Trevor stretched. "I'm okay, rest."

She caressed his face. "The nurse told me to have you sleep in the bed with me. That can't be good for your back. Baby. Please. Hold me." She felt tears in her eyes. "I'm scared."

He stood up and moved onto the bed with her, wrapping his arms around her, kissing her temple. "I'm right here. Just you and me."

Olivia cuddled into him. "Thank you," she whispered. She saw the nurse come back in with a tray. "Thank you, for the food and for letting him sleep in the bed with me. The safest place I know is his arms." She looked up at him. "Always has been," she rested her head on his shoulder.

The nurse smiled. "Of course." She walked out of the room and Olivia held onto him and kissed his shoulder.

Trevor kissed the side of her head. "Eat, you need to eat to heal," he whispered.

Olivia turned and looked at him, caressing his face, kissing him softly. She broke the kiss and smiled. "I uh… I needed that." She pulled the table closer to her and she started eating and made a face. "God, I hate hospital food." She nuzzled into him as she continued to force the food down.

Trevor wrapped his arm around her. "I know, baby. It'll only be for a few days, hopefully, until they can stitch up your leg."

She nodded. "I know, I just wish I could have some food that tasted like something." She rolled her eyes. "Other than… beige."

He chuckled. "I should call mom, and Fin. Let them know you're awake and eating," he whispered and kissed her forehead.

Olivia looked at him. "Have Fin bring me something that actually has flavor, I don't even care what it is."

Trevor kissed her gently, how about you call the doctor first and see if you can have flavor today, and I'll call mom?"

She smiled and pushed the nurse call button. "Go call your mother, I'll be here when you get back." She watched Trevor walk out and saw the nurse walk in. "I appreciate the food, but can I have my husband ask a friend to bring me something with a little flavor? I mean, my heart and stomach are alright, right?"

The nurse smiled. "Tomorrow. We always like to err on the side of caution and have you eat a little more bland, just making sure that nothing irritated your stomach during the surgery, and making sure you eat pretty bland will help just in case anything did irritate your stomach, we want to assure you don't experience any nausea or vomiting."

Olivia sighed. "Fine, can I at least have some salt and pepper with my next meal?"

The nurse smiled. "You got it. Maybe I can even get you some vanilla ice cream." She walked out of the room and Trevor walked back in.

Trevor sat next to her. "What's the verdict?"

Olivia looked up at him. "I have to eat bland today to make sure nothing in surgery irritated my stomach. But she said I can have flavor tomorrow." She took his hand. "Have Fin bring you something, you need to eat too."

Trevor smiled. "How about I update him and then go to the cafeteria to get myself something to eat. I'll bring it back up here and eat?"

She smiled. "You're going to subject yourself to hospital food for me?"

He kissed her lips gently. "I'd do anything for you."
