A/N: It's only been a little over a week since I last updated! I'm doing pretty good on writing for 2020 so far. :) My goal is to be done with the first season of Victoriously Jade by this summer, but we will see how that goes...

It's great that Victorious is on Netflix now, but for whatever reason they have the episodes all out of order. Just know that I check with IMDB and write the episodes in the order they were aired on live tv. I just know that can be confusing, since they are all wonky on Netflix.

Cat's New Boyfriend

Part Three

"Which dress looks better?" Cat asks me, holding up a bright pink baby doll dress and a floral dress.

"They both make me want to gag, but at least the one with flowers doesn't remind me of pepto-bismol," I tell her, and then turn back to face the mirror and continue putting on my liquid eyeliner.

"Okay!" she throws the pink monstrosity onto her bed and runs to her bathroom to change into the other dress. "I'm so excited for tonight!" Cat exclaims from the other room.

"Yeah, yeah. I know you love the stupid cheese fountain," I say, applying some finishing touches on my eye makeup. "I've never known anyone get so excited about cheese. Except maybe Shapiro."

"No silly," Cat comes back in her room. "Daniel is meeting me there! It's going to be the first time I've had an official date to a Hollywood Arts event!" she dances around the room while brushing her hair.

I can't stop my eyes from rolling. "Big deal."

"Easy for you to say," Cat stops and gently hits me with her hairbrush. "You've had Beck to go with you to all these events."

"It's just the Kickback Cat," I remind her. "It's not like the prom or anything. Not that Hollywood Arts even has a prom, but you know what I mean. It's just a dumb dance."

"Other schools dumb dances don't have cheese fountains," Cat points out. "They reserve them for special dances, like homecoming and just have Kickbacks and Full Moon Jams instead," Cat shrugs, for once making perfect sense.

I tilt my head, surprised that that thought had never occurred to me before. I'm suddenly worried that maybe I am under dressed. Should I be wearing a dress like Cat?

Ugh! Why am I worried about something so stupid?

"All right, let's go," I tell her, after I double checked my makeup and hair in her mirror.

"Kay kay!" Cat bounces out of her room and into her hallway.

"Wait- it's supposed to get kind of cold tonight. You should grab a sweater," I tell her, and mentally slap myself for sounding like her mother.

"Aww. You do care about me!" Cat says.

"Shut it!" I yell at her, while hiding a smile.

" Just grab me one!" she calls out, and I walk to her closet and glance at all her obnoxiously bright clothes. I dig around for a minute until I find one. Even though it has an annoying ruffle at the bottom, at least it's black. I grab it and run out of Cat's room.

"Jadey, I'm so excited!" Cat grabs onto my arm and squeezes, as we walk into the Asphalt Cafe.

"Down girl," I tell her and shake her off of me. I scan the crowd for any sign of Beck, but I don't see him anywhere.

"There's Daniel!" Cat runs off to go meet him.

I decide to get something to drink before some moron tries to spike it. As I'm filling my blue solo cup I hear some heavy breathing behind me.

"Hey Jade," Sinjin says and I whip my head around and see him and a couple of his techie friends all around me. "Are you going to come see my play?" he asks me, and I just shrug. "I picked it out with you in mind. I think you will really like it," he says, and all his little friends nod in agreement.

I swear, Sinjin is like a nail fungus that just won't go away. Every time you think you are rid of it, he rears his ugly head again.

Instead of answering him I just walk away.

Lane should be proud of me, I didn't even yell at them.

Maybe I'm going soft.

I continue scanning the crowd for Beck, but don't see him. I do however, happen to see Vega staring out where a bunch of people are dancing. I decide to find out what has her so captivated, although I am pretty sure I already know the answer. I walk over to Vega Junior and sure enough, she is watching Cat and Daniel acting all cozy together. Seriously, the amount of PDA between those two is enough to make me want to puke.

I look back and forth between the happy couple and Vega's scowl.

"Daniel ever spin you like that?" I ask her with a smirk.

"Want to get slapped with a sausage?" Vega threatens.

"Sure," I tell her, and lean my cheek towards her, daring her to hit me with it.

"No!" Vega shrieks, and I decide to walk away, and just let her stew in her jealousy for awhile. There will be plenty more time to give her shit later tonight.

"Oh my God, Cat are you okay?" I ask her, running to catch up with her. I see that she is crying. Shit! That cheese fountain is hot.

"I can't believe Tori would do this!" Daniel says, as both he and Cat stand in front of me dripping in cheese. Oh gross, it looks like it is oozing out of Cat's ear.

"I gotta go wash this cheese off," Cat grabs Daniel's hand and leads him into Hollywood Arts, and Beck and I follow behind them.

I turn to Beck. "I told you she was jealous of Cat!"

"What the hell was she thinking?" Beck asks, shaking his head as Cat and Daniel disappear into the Hollywood Arts bathrooms.

"She's not so sweet and perfect after all," I can't help but smile.

Beck just stares at me a moment. "You are enjoying this, aren't you?"

"I've been telling everyone that she was jealous," I shrug. "What can I say? I can read people. It's a gift. But to answer your question, no. She messed with Cat. I am very not okay with that."

"Let's go find Tori," Beck says, grabbing my hand.

"Ugh. Why?" I groan.

"Don't you want to hear her excuse for the cheese attack?" he asks me, poking me in my side. "You know you want to," he says in a sing-song voice.

"You're such a dork," I tell him, and he flings his arm over my shoulder.

"But I'm your dork," he says, poking me again with his other hand.

"Lucky me," I say rolling my eyes.

"Where do you think Tori went?" Beck asks.

"I saw someone dart into the Blackbox as we were coming inside," I tell Beck and drag him over to the theater's door. "Twenty bucks says it was Vega."

"Here goes nothing," Beck says as I open the door to the Blackbox. "Tori! Yo, Tori!"

"We saw you run in here!" I can't believe she is hiding from us like my little brother does when he breaks something of mine. Like seriously Vega. How old are you? Six?

"What's with all that stuff?" Beck gestures to the camping equipment on stage.

"Sinjin and his friends are doing some play about a camping trip gone wrong," I tell him, while looking at the wings of the stage to make sure Vega isn't back there.

"Gone wrong?"

"They end up eating each other- I don't know!" I throw my hands up in the air. I am actually intrigued to see the play. Not that I would admit that to anyone.

"Tori!" Beck continues to call for her, and my attention gets drawn to the tent. No way would she be stupid enough to hide in there. Right? I grab the broom and chuck it at the tent.

"Ow!" Vega yells.

"Tori," I sing. "Come out to pla-ay."

Vega unzips the tent and pokes her head out. "Leave me alone," she pouts.

Like we are really going to do that! You would think by now she should know better.

"What up with the hot cheese attack on Cat?" Beck asks.

"And her boyfriend, Daniel," I can't help but add.

"I don't know! I mean, I'm so not the jealous type! I've never ever done anything like that before, but seeing my ex-boyfriend making out with Cat I guess I just lost it for a second. And the next thing I knew my hand was on the cheese valve!" Vega exclaims.

Beck and I just silently stare at her.

"I have to go apologize to them," Vega says and leaves the Blackbox.

I look at Beck. "You want to go feel Andre's foot some more?" I ask him, trying to keep a straight face.

"Yeah," Beck agrees and we walk into the hallway.

"So since when do you have a foot fetish?" I ask him.

"Since when do you?" he smirks at me. "You're the one that suggested we feel his feet some more."

"Maybe I just have a thing for a smooth foot," I tell him, "or maybe I just have a thing for Andre," I say arching an eyebrow.

"Not funny Jade," Beck says as we walk out the doors of Hollywood Arts.

"You owe me twenty bucks Oliver," I tell him with a smirk.

"Why would Tori do that to me?" Cat asks me, as she is sitting on her bed, hugging her giraffe, with tears streaming down her face. "How could she kiss Daniel?"

"I don't know," I answer her honestly, wiping a tear away from her cheek with my thumb.

"I thought she was my friend," Cat looks at me. "I guess you really are the only friend I have."

"That's not true. What about Beck? And Andre and Robbie?"

"They're boys, they don't count," Cat pouts, waving her hands in the air.

I sigh. "Vega is your friend Cat."

"Then why would she-"

"I don't know why she kissed Daniel," I interrupt her, and get up and start walking around Cat's bedroom.. "I just think…..it's like Vega can't see past her own frame of reference," I try to explain. "I mean, everyone treats her like she is the center of the fucking universe around here. If you start getting treated a certain way long enough, and by enough people, you eventually will start believing it," I say, turning back around to look at my best friend. "I'm not excusing her for what she did. She fucked up. Big time. The cheese attack was bad enough. But then to kiss Daniel…." I walk back over and sit on the edge of the bed next to Cat. "Trust me, it's taking everything in me not to go kick her ass right now," I tell Cat. "Just say the word."

"No….." Cat says, sniffling and hugging her stuffed animal even harder.

"Listen Cat, knowing Tori- she is going to do everything in her power to fix this. Whether you want her to or not," I add, with a hint of an annoyed smile.

"You don't think she was trying to steal him from me? Like she did Beck from you?" Cat asks.

I immediately tense after being reminded of the whole improv incident. "Vega wasn't trying to steal Beck from me when she kissed him." Cat raises her eyebrows at me. "Or at least, that wasn't the main reason she kissed him. She did it to get back at me for dumping coffee in her hair. And it fucking worked." I realize that my hands are curled up into fists and I have to make a conscious effort to relax my fingers. I take a deep breath. "I just think she kissed Daniel because she didn't know how to deal with her conflicting emotions, and she just went with whatever made her feel good at the time."

"Why are you defending her?" Cat asks me.

"I'm not…..I mean, not really. I just don't think that Vega is capable of looking past herself. Like, even when she is trying to do something nice or helpful for someone else- she insists on doing it whether they want her to or not. Remember the whole thing with Beck and Melinda Murray? She thought she was defending Beck, and couldn't stop to think about why Beck wasn't speaking up for himself, when we all know he is more than capable. And if she had a fucking brain in her head, she would've known that if any good could have come from defending him in that situation, my voice would've been the first one heard."

"Yeah, I guess," Cat mumbles, picking at a spot on her pink bedspread.

"Look," I sigh. "I'm not telling you not to be mad at her. You should be pissed at her. And give Vega fucking hell. I would kick you in your cute little ass if you didn't give her shit over this," I tell her. "I mean, she did break the code after all," I say, nudging Cat with my elbow and making her smile.

"You mean sisters-"

"Don't say it!" I growl, rolling my eyes.

"Before misters!" She actually giggles as I groan.

"And now I want to stab you with my scissors," I smile at her.

"What am I supposed to do about Daniel?" Cat asks me. "I mean, I really liked him Jade."

"He doesn't deserve you," I tell her and plop down on the bed beside her. "Don't ever settle for someone Cat."

"Thanks Jadey," Cat says, and lays her head on my shoulder.

For a second I think of shaking her off, but she's had a rough night. I guess just this once I will her lean on me.
