She'd never liked Tohma.
Not because he was rich, because if Masaru had ever gotten money it wouldn't have changed her opinion he was an idiot with a complex. Not very much anyway. Tohma was way too distant for most people. He didn't seem to know how to, nor want to, attach himself to anyone.
It probably hurt his mouth to smile.
She said so at one point, without quite meaning to. He had smiled then, but it sure hadn't felt like one.
"Thank you for your honestly," he'd said. "Because you're probably right."
And that had been that for a while. But, perhaps because of Masaru, he'd had no choice but to attach himself to them.
And it wasn't the same. But with time, and no Masaru, maybe they had no choice but to attach correctly.
