Headmaster's Office, Hogwarts Castle, Wizarding World...

The notorious blue eyes of Albus Dumbledore had been fixated on a rather strange book that sat on his desk unopened. He'd pondered about opening it for quite some time since returning from his brief visit with Severus Snape. The aged wizard let out a sigh. He'd been studying the book and the tome for a great many years and still had not been any closer to finding a way to unlock the journal of the wizard whom his ancestor traveled with. Taking the journal of said ancestor into his hands, Dumbledore revisited a chapter that he found most peculiar.

Open Sands, Carigan, Unknown World...

Weeks of working as the apprentice to the rather intriguing Sethivas "Sortiarius" had been much more than I could have ever dreamed of. We scowered the lands for days in search of a mystical creature known as the Psijic Phoenix and found not a one until we happened upon a young female in plain sight injured by bandits and badly in need of assistance. She was the most beautiful creature we had ever had the pleasure of lying eyes on and majestic beyond measure.

She was larger than any mortal man with a wind span that spread vast distances across the desert sands, her body was made from a bright red-orange flame and her eyes glowed a haunting yellow. She was trapped via a flame resistant resent that made it difficult for her to get from the confines of the chains thrown around her neck, pinning her to the ground. Men pulled at the chains and attempted to lure her into a monstrous crate, no doubt to parade her about for coin.

Her tail brazen flame that flapped in protest and her claws searing the sands as she attempted to get away from bandits wishing to do her harm. The panic in her must have been overwhelming as Sethivas immediately took off toward her and the bandits a seething rage filed across his pale face like never before.

He swiftly challenged the bandits, making short work of them due to his aptitude in magic and broke apart the binds that held the magnificent creature at bay. She seemed grateful as she hesitated before taking off into the sky leaving us to watch her flight in wonder.

Camp Site,Open Sands, Carigan, Unknown World...

I write this now with trembling hands, there is blood...so much blood that I fear it may stain the pages of this journal enough to make my words illegible. Sethivas is fading fast...the cowardly bandits attacked our camp after trailing us for days in an effort to get revenge. There has been no sign of the Psijic Phoenix and the angered bandits want our lives in payment!

Sethivas is dying from the blade wounds of those cowardly fiends and we have not a healer or restorative potion in sight! I know next to nothing of healing and he's lost far too much blood to cast any spell.

I am afraid this might well be the end for us and our little expedition...

I dare not believe it!

As I write this...the very creature has returned burning the bandits that had been fool enough to pursue us!

Thought a welcome sight and a source of relief for her having driven off those monsters, I fear it may be too late for poor Sethivas...he'd bled quite a bit and may very well see his end amid warm sands.

The creature appears saddened by his current status.

It's doing something with a faint glow...

Albus Dumbledore nearly leapt out of his seat when he finally looked up from the journal to find Severus Snape standing before him. The Potions Master had been none too pleased about having to be kept waiting especially when he had plans of his own to tend to. It had taken quite a few moments for the elderly wizard to understand what had been going on but the sheer shock of the younger wizard's arrival had been most disconcerting.

"Have you even heard a word I've said?" asked Snape not at all hiding his annoyance with the elder wizard.

"You are planning to take a trip?" said Dumbledore.

Snape rolled his eyes, obviously not alright with Dumbledore's half listening.

"I've told you that I've just come back from being summoned." growled the younger wizard. "For Merlin's sake old man if you are not going to take this seriously..."

"What is it you wish to report, Severus?" said Dumbledore cutting him off.

"Nothing, Headmaster." said Snape in an eerie emotionless tone. "Proceed with your reading as you'd have it...I shall return another time to fill you in on my latest chat with the dark lord."

"Very well." replied Dumbledore turning his attention back to his book.

Snape rolled his eyes once more and took his leave of the older wizard not in the least pleased about having wasted his time and even more suspicious of what the Headmaster had been hiding. The books he clasped so tightly had not been the same as the one before, of that Snape had been sure, but it seemed important none the less.

So much so that the old man attempted to keep it from him, but not in a secure manner.

Dumbledore let out a sigh of relief when Severus Snape ventured out the door closing it shut tight behind him. The last thing he needed was to get the younger professor interested in the records of his ancestor, as it could surely lead to him discovering the truth about himself and his de-aged young wife and why they had been kept apart all those years.

It had pained the elder wizard to have to come between them, especially since he'd been in favor of their happiness in the past but it had been the only way to not only keep them safe but also to ensure they were never used to harm anyone given their unchecked abilities. Their kind had been hunted for millennium due to fear of what they could do to both the wizarding and muggle worlds.
