This story is coming to and end soon. due to the conflicts with EPG. You know, cuz i had to make it a series and write them at the same time.

unless anyone can leave an awesome review that moves me enough to keep writing our beloved angel and demon.

happy holidays

The air was stagnant. Usually, it made Remus hungry; this smell made him on edge. The scent of a wounded beast filled his nostrils. The opportunistic side of his wolf would have wanted to circle the room and strike the final blow for the easy meal lying on the table. Instead, the rancid smell of a hurt beast struck fear in him. Making him want to tuck tail and get as far away from here.

Moody wasted no time in searching through his thick outer cloak, "If any of ye' be put off by blood," he pulled out the small leather medical case, "Ye should've left a long time ago."

"I need to get out of here," Remus said and made a beeline out of the room, not bothering to close the door behind himself. His like-minded friend Peter right behind him.

"You think your savage ways are gonna save him?" Minerva said disapprovingly as she tried to push Moody away from Severus. "I won't let you hurt the boy anymore!"

"Damn it, woman!" he swatted her hands away, "You mistake savagery for survivalist! He won't make it the night if I don't do something!"

She finally turned to Albus, tears threatening to fall, "Why? He's just a boy! Why did you send him?"

"This really isn't the time, Minerva." Albus put a hand up to her.

"Don't you Minerva me!"

James rounded the desk, roughly shoving Albus aside, "Let's do this before he loses too much blood."

Moody looked up at the young Gryffindor, "' Bout time one of yeh fuckin' did somethin'!" The small leather case included everything a muggle field surgeon would have. "Alright, I'm gonna need you to hold him together-"

"James, you can't!" Lily finally spoke up from her small corner of the room.

"Pads, take her home," James said, without looking up. He shrugged off his robes and rolled up his sleeves.

"But-"

Sirius didn't let her argue, he grabbed her by the arm and headed to the floo, "Come on, Lils. It's for the best, he ain't goin' nowhere. He'll be home when he's done."

Once the two passed through the fire, Moody looked at James, "You got two jobs. Hold 'im together and hold 'im still so I can make it clean and quick."

"Just…" James looked down at Juliet, "Just let him know he's not alone."

Juliet nodded and continued to hold Severus' head while they tried to save her husband's life.

Severus woke up days later in the middle of the night. Sweating profusely and in a panic. It was dark, and the fire was out. He sat up in pain and called for his wife.

"Juliet!" his arms went straight to his middle as he collapsed in pain. "Where… is… she?"

A firm hand on his shoulder pushed him back on the bed, "She's safe."

"M-mooo? Ho…. H… c-c-c…. ow?"

"Moo Cow? Nah, I be Moody."

"Shh… sh…" Severus was shaking and stuttering as he spoke, "ut…up-p."

Moody chuckled, "If you can take a near-death experience, you can take a joke."

"Wh-ere… is sh-she?" Severus tried to get up again, only to be pushed back down.

Moody grabbed the chair near his side of the bed. Obviously, the one Juliet sat in while she worried about him. He dragged it across the floor loudly and dropped himself in it, "She's safe."

"Angel?" Severus called out for her again, looking around the darkroom for her. Trying to strain his one good ear for her familiar whistle. "Angel!"

He started to panic. Thrashing about the bed and trying to get up. He gasped in pain as his arms wrapped around himself. His hands blindly felt around his stomach, following the trail of bandages up his chest.

His breath hitched, he started to panic. Moody reached his hands out and grabbed him by the shoulders, "Look at me! You're alrigh'!"

Severus started to wheeze, struggling for breath as he coughed and winced in pain. "Where? She?" was all that he was able to choke out. Still needing to see his wife, to know she was alright.

"She's safe." Moody conjured a glass of water, helping him roll a bit on his side to drink without spilling.

Severus choked on the cool liquid hitting his parched throat. Not realizing until now how much his throat hurt, caused by hours of screaming while being tortured. Gaining his breath again, "I… ask-sked where… she is." He spat, "Not how… she's d-doing."

Moody tightened the hold on his shoulder, "I can't tell you that."

Severus fumbled around the bed, looking for his wand. Moody sighed and pulled it out of his inner cloak, "Even if you had this, yer in no shape to cast any magic." He set it on the nightstand, "I need you to tell me what happened the night you were initiated."

Severus scowled up at him, throwing the covers off himself and trying to get up. "F-first- wife."

Moody's hand shot out, digging his fingers in the center of his chest between the stitches. All the air was pushed out of his lungs, he collapsed back on the bed and tried to fight the hand, hurting him. "Sit yer arse back down, or I'll make you. You'll split yerself back open."

Severus struggled to catch his breath again. His bandages now bleeding, "Why?"

"Because if you don't, you'll never see her again."

"You th-threaten?" he growled. His body still shaking from pain and nerve damage of being tortured for hours. Despite the sweat covering his body, he was freezing and felt like he would never be warm again.

Moody waved his hand to the fireplace, the brilliant light flaring and causing him to flinch. Moody leaned over Severus, nearly nose to nose with his fingers digging into his wounds again, "I promise."

He coughed and sputtered, trying to push him off, "N-no…"

"Then start talking."

Severus was confused, he was told to go and join the Death Eaters, and now he was being tortured for information, "You f-forget I'm p-part of the order."

"You forget you're a dark wizard, and I'm an Auror." He snapped back.

He shook his head, "I'm n-no d-d… ark wizard."

"And a liar on top o' that." Moody huffed in frustration, "I'll never let you see her if I don't trust you."

"B-but no. You c-can't." Severus' hand reached out and grabbed his sleeve, "You d-didn't. Tell me you didn't."

"You tell me the truth first. I'll keep her as far away from you for as long as I live. I ain't gonna let you hurt her."

"I'd never… never hurt her." Severus argued.

Moody ripped his sleeve out of his grip, "You're a dangerous fucking animal that can't be controlled!"

"No!"

"Don't lie to me, boy! Not when you reek of dark magic and murder."

That sentence made Severus stop fighting. He remained silent, and his eyes unable to meet the other man's. Moody grabbed his wand and revealed the last spell performed, the killing curse.

"Tell me who you killed."

Severus' mouth opened and closed several times. He was so focused on Juliet that he'd put what happened that night in the back of his mind. Moody watched the emotions play on his face as he struggled to find his voice to answer. To speak the name…
