And so...here it is. The final chapter of Twisted Timelines.
It's been a long road, both for our heroes, and for you the readers. A few hiatuses, a few alterations of chapter count (ok only one but still)
And here we are. Chapter 100. The finale. Three years ago today I posted chapter one, not knowing if I would continue. But looking back now, I'm glad I did. What started as a little gift fic, turned into something so much more.
BUT I promised myself I wouldn't ramble until the end.
TheAmberShadow - Ohhhhhh - heh yeah definitely something more there X3
I actually made that up but if it is then cool XD And yup :3 That ones Hiccup XD
She was
You'll have to read this chapter and find out :3
I haven't decided if I want to drag Magnus and Ellie along in S2 yet.
Yessss Literally this entire chapter is setup for next season
Woo!
I couldn't find a way to say it, but basically in the Home World (with the Games), all of the other world's quirks applied, so if they wanted, they could transform into merfolk/hybrids/etc, but the Home World sensed their desire to be human, so they stayed that way. But the recording from Twin Moons, was never turned off, so Ivor basically recorded the entire Games, which once he figured it out, Cassie showed them how to access the recordings in the portal hall, and the New Order and a few of the Old Order (Petra and Axel) went and had a movie night.
XDDDD
And so...for the final time in this story...
On to the fic!
Aiden kicked away another one of the baby zombies, and scowled at Maya. The brunet was playing with a sapling a few blocks away, her back turned to him. Completely oblivious to his glares. He'd spent so long perfecting the Games. Getting rid of the people who wouldn't be willing to help him bring them to their full potential.
Ever since he and Lukas had been kids, that was what he had wanted. A place to bring people from worlds away, to play games and compete for victory. And that was what they had done! Together the two Telkans had broken free of the confines of their world. They'd found Sirens, Ramki, and Ekari, they had found friends in those species, then, when they were still building portals, they'd discovered the gods. The Admins, two brothers with infinite power, and the Moderators, three friends with...well, mostly infinite power.
And then, the people he'd thought would help him fulfill his goal betrayed him.
Stella had been the first. She'd questioned whether what they were doing was ethical, and then had tried to sneak out and talk to Notch to have him influence Aiden.
Then, of course, Isa just had to be snoopy. She caught him finishing extracting the memories from Stella's mind (A rather gruesome process that required blood from the head), had gone all rage mode on him (weren't Sirens supposed to be peaceful?) which meant of course that after he'd kicked Stella through the nearest portal, he'd had to forcefully enter Isa's mind and knock her out.
Which of course left him with another body to dump.
He couldn't risk her meeting Stella and reminding her of everything, so he'd had to find a new place to put her.
They'd recently discovered a strange new world, with two moons, and people who had the ability to record the things they saw. It was about fourty portals down, but all he would have to do was make sure she stayed asleep through the process.
He'd dumped her, and had brushed Cassie off when the redhead had been frantically buzzing around, trying to find her sister. A few days later, Cassie had vanished during the night. Aiden had been furious, but it was nothing compared to the fury that filled his entire being when Lukas left.
Lukas. His friend, his brother in spirit.
Lukas had betrayed him.
Aiden had stayed up for three days straight after that, revising the rulebook. He erased every thought of doubt in Maya and Gill's minds, and made sure that they would never leave him. He opened the Mines, to punish people, and it quickly devolved into sending failing teams there while they waited for their second chance.
Then people started to get depressed, and really, depressed fighters aren't even fighters. They're just depressed.
So, he created Milo. He even got one of the Moderators on it, having the man disguise himself as a shabby blonde man, and his two friends as 'Milo's' teammates. Aiden had the three pretend to be newcomers to the Games, just for a single Season, and then, the trio had pulled a victory, and Aiden had 'let' them leave.
Almost instantly, there was a change in attitude. The Competitors had something to fight for, someone to believe in.
They had hope.
And hope, although dangerous in large amounts, was just what he needed to keep them under control.
Until Ivor.
The damned teen and his friends had taken everything from Aiden.
And no matter how long it took, Aiden vowed he would do everything it took, to destroy the teen.
Even if it cost him his last breath.
Radar wiped his forehead with his arm and looked up at Mrun with a smile. "That took forever, but this place is totally worth it."
Mrun hummed his agreement, the Cartographer's arms settled into the usual villager pose, tucked into his sleeves. Radar knew that most villagers stayed like that, but they very much did have hands (despite some of the wilder theories he and Mrun had come across over the years)
Tilting his head back, Radar looked up at the newly placed sign "Radar and Mrun's Adventure Emporium." Radar said happily. "Heh, after everything we've been through, it's going to be weird settling in one place again."
Mrun nodded, though he frowned at Rader "hrrrrmmmmmmm" he said disapprovingly.
"What? When did- We absolutely agreed to call it Radar and Mruns!" Radar replied. Mrun's eyes narrowed, making Radar a bit nervous, but the villager smiled, and hummed happily.
"So. not funny." Radar grumbled. Mrun hummed, stating just how incredibly hilarious it was.
Radar sighed, and decided to change the topic. Turning his head to look around the town, his lips quirked into a smile. "Beacontown...the site of the famous Witherstorm attack. Good place to set up shop and take a few adventure seeking kids on some simple adventures."
Without meaning too, Radar's hand drifted to his inventory, and he found himself looking down at a picture of five teenagers, the oldest a female with dark hair and pale eyes, followed by a similar looking girl, but with paler brown hair, then a villager, his Cartographer's robes fresh and new, a younger, smiling version of Radar, and finally, a short kid, barely a teenager, with bright green eyes and curly brown hair.
"I might not know why you did it Jess, but I'm going to find out."
Radar lowered the picture back into his inventory. "I owe it to Bin and Hil"
Mrun placed a hand on Radar's shoulder, humming worriedly. "I'm fine Mrun." Radar said, gently shrugging the hand off. "It's just been a long couple of years." Mrun hummed again, and Radar shook his head. "I owe it to the girls Mrun. If I just ignore what he's done...well, if they were still alive you know they'd be after me. I need to find out what happened."
"I need to find a way to make things right."
Soren sat comfortably in a chair made of jungle wood and string. In his hand was a sketchbook, flipped open to a page covered in a drawing of a bright and beautiful city. Lifting his head, Soren looked up at a team of builders working to put together the first building in his new settlement.
Champion City, it would be called. Built on the very place the Witherstorm fell.
Though the monster's tentacles had long since been cleaned away, most people stayed away from here. So, he was finding it a new purpose. Creating beauty, where destruction had lain. New life, in a place of death.
His original plan had been to become mayor of Beacontown, and extend its land out this far, but apparently there were some pretty heavy laws about who they choose for their mayor, and a person who wandered around, building things before leaving them, wasn't exactly applicable.
But this, this would be his crowning achievement. His final creation before he settled down. He would rule this city, a Champion among champions.
And everyone knows that a good Champion has a rival. Not an enemy, but someone they competed against, to show they were serious, to show they were the best!
And really, there was only one Champion in the world popular enough to make Soren himself famous. Even if he ended up the rival, well, he would still be associated with them right?
Closing the page on the city, Soren selected a pencil and began to sketch a teenager with wild black hair and determined blue eyes.
Whether or not Ivor knew it yet, he and Soren were going to become great rivals, both powerful, both famous.
And maybe...just maybe he'd get close enough to claim friendship with the hero.
The Admin leaned back and sighed as he once again sat in front of his viewing screens. Red fingers laced as the blonde relaxed, shaggy hair falling over his eyes in a hairstyle that made teens look like troublemakers in the eyes of adults.
A new view-screen popped up, flashing like blinking lights, and he quickly turned his glowing gold gaze towards it. The screen showed a shaggy-haired brunet, with the start of a beard, and furious blue eyes. He was standing on a series of pressure plates. His mouth was gagged with thick iron, and his hands were shackled together. That didn't seem to be stopping him from ramming his shoulder into the obsidian walls.
The Admin sighed, rubbing his forehead. Tapping on the screen, he slid the switch that would allow him to speak into the cage. "Sebastian..." he groaned "I don't see why you can't just accept your new home. Really, if you'd just give in, I could make your life so much more comfortable."
"HHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNGGGGGG" Sebastian roared. The Admin sighed, and closed the screen. Honestly, his relationship with his...well, he really couldn't call them friends now could he? Especially after T-
He shook his head. No. Couldn't deal with that right now. This was not the time or place.
Besides, Sebastian was safe, locked away in the Moonlight Institute. There was no reason to worry about him.
Leaning back in his chair, Herzog let out a soft sigh, and closed his eyes.
Everything was falling into place, he would have his Champion soon enough.
And sure, it might take a few years.
But he always got what he wanted in the end.
And that's a wrap.
That's...it...
I'm...I'm not crying you are... ;-;
So...final notes.
Twisted Timelines has been amazing to write. For three years, you guys have stuck with me in this reversal AU, and...I'm honestly really sad to see it go. This isn't the end of Twisted Timelines, that's for sure. I have two sequel ideas I want to do, but...well they aren't scheduled for a while.
What is scheduled? Well, by the time you've finished reading this, you can go to my profile page, and scroll down to see two new stories.
One is labeled The Forgotten, the other is called Minecraft: Survival Mode.
The Forgotten is another MCSM AU fic, but in this one Jesse is one of the Admins...well, sort of. Actually she's a Mini-Mod, but that's lore that won't come in until much later in it so...yeah, enjoy a hint.
Survival Mode is a Minecraft fic, involving myself and four other people being trapped inside of the game. Who are these people? If you're a heavy MCSM reader you should recognize most of these names. Rainysaurus (also known as Raintag), Toni42, ArizaLuca, and BriDezzi. But as the story grows and there are more readers, more players will be trapped, based on the readers supplying entries and the First Five (aka me and the others) choosing who will join us in hel- (*cough*) I mean, in the game.
The Forgotten will take the slot of Twisted Timelines in my update queue (which is kinda empty but im...working on it xP), while Survival Mode's updates will be more...sporadic, simply because for everything I've got to correspond with everyone XD
But back to Twisted Timelines...
As I said, I have two sequel ideas. One, is obviously Season Two, the title of which will either be Twisted Timelines: Season Two, or Ticking Clocks, I'm not sure. I'm also open to title ideas, so feel free to throw them at me XD
As for the other...with permission from Toni42 ofc (which I think I've already asked him, but I'm forgetful so...XP): Twisted Timelines...Movie Mode. Just...obviously with a different subplot than the one in the *actual* Movie Mode, frankly because there's no way I could pull *that* off as well as Toni does.
But...other than all of that, I guess...that's it.
I don't have anything else to say. This has been an amazing journey, and I hope to see you all over at The Forgotten and Survival Mode.
But for now..
For the last time on Twisted Timelines, just for me...
