The side of the bed dipped so that Bruce's body rolled into Jo's, and the sudden extra weight pressing against her back had her eyes popping open wide. It was still dark in their room, with no sunlight shining through the balcony doors, but her sight quickly adjusted to the darkness. She thought she could see a leg, like someone was sitting on the bed right next to her. When the person shifted, she heard the soft creaking of leather. It really was dark in the room, but she thought that the leather the person was wearing was red. Which meant that it could only be one person.
"Everything okay, Uncle Wade?" she roughed out. Behind her, Bruce sleepily nuzzled against the skin between her shoulder blades.
"Everything is definitely not okay." That was definitely her Uncle Wade, so why had he broken into the compound this time? "In a week, it will officially have been two years since this story was updated! Two years, Josie! That's like a hundred years to fanfic readers!"
"Right, the we're all trapped in someone's story thing," Jo remembered aloud.
"There are a lot of theories about our lives being simulations." Bruce's breath was pleasantly warm against her skin, even if the words weren't what she needed at the moment.
"Exactly! It's so far behind. You're not even living in the compound yet! You're still stuck in that manor." She couldn't see her Uncle Wade's face, but she guessed that he was pouting just from his tone. She hated it when he pouted.
"Okay, how do we fix it?" she finally asked.
"We've already started. This whole scene is just a placeholder because our author is paranoid about posting just an author's note as a chapter. Thinks it'll get the whole story deleted." The bed was jolted as Uncle Wade violently shivered, and she twisted around to look up at him. "I feel so used."
"Uh-huh. I'm going back to sleep now. Either join the cuddling or say goodnight," Jo said as she rolled over to snuggle into Bruce. The weight was lifted from the bed, and she could hear Uncle Wade grumbling as he left her room.
Trapped in a story or possibly a simulation? That was a little too crazy, even for the Avengers.
Finis: Deadpool isn't wrong. I am paranoid about posting a chapter that is just an Author's Note, so that's why that little scene is up there. It is not an actual part of the story.
I'm posting this because I need help. This chapter will be deleted, probably in a week or so, because I don't want this to be the real Chapter 50.
Help! The past couple of years have been incredibly difficult. I lost the woman that I loved like a second mother, my mental health deteriorated rapidly, and I lost inspiration for this story. I am now going to therapy regularly and am on medication, but I still can't find inspiration for this story. I refuse to delete it or abandon it though, because I love this story. I love Jo, and I want to finish writing her story.
I am posting this because I need someone to help me. I'm not necessarily asking for a beta reader or for someone to look over the past 40 chapters to find mistakes. I need someone that can help me with the future of this story. Someone that I can discuss details with and that can help me decide what to do moving forward. Mostly, I just need someone to talk it all out with and who will push me to keep writing.
If you would like to help, please send me a message. You don't have to review this chapter since it will be deleted. Thank you for your patience and thank you to everyone reading this. I hope to hear from someone soon.
