Author's note: In this chapter, I will write down a smut scene between Lee and Tenten. It will feature all about what sort of relationship they have been establishing since the loss of Neji and Guy. Other than that, you'll soon find out. When writing this chapter, I was inspired by the song "Chocolate" by Kylie Minogue. Don't ask me why. I just happened to figure out on how to write down these lemon scenes. Also, the title of the chapter is the catchphrase of the Finnish electronics company Nokia. Just wanted to point out the fun fact.
Chapter 42: Connecting People
Inside a bookstore, the Village Hidden in the Leaves
Inside a bookstore, Hinata and her teacher Kurenai was looking for something that could help Hinata in terms of knowing how to be prepared for intimacy with Kiba. From what they could see, there were tons of magazines that was all about women. And they different, whether they were about clothes, makeups or diets. As she took her time to browse through them, Hinata felt herself blush a little in what she saw.
"Oh my…" Hinata noted as she looked at a magazine that was all about swimsuits and bikinis. From what she could tell, some of the bikinis were a bit too revealing for her taste. Still, she couldn't help but to consider buying a swimsuit. "Now that I think about it, I should buy myself a new swimsuit. I've outgrown my previous one. But I still don't know what type I want…" the young bluenette was filled with so much doubts and confusions.
Kurenai could see what her student was reading and slightly shook her head at her. "Don't worry, Hinata. A swimsuit is something you should at least consider getting" she said while putting the magazine away. She then held up a magazine that had a cover of a man and a woman kissing each other passionately in the bed together. "What we're looking for is some help for you in understanding how intimacy works. And I happen to have found the perfect tool" Kurenai informed while holding up the magazine.
Hinata glanced at the magazine with eyes of curiosity. She read the title: "SEX AND SYMMETRY". Personally, she thought the title was…farfetched. She couldn't understand how symmetry belonged in a sensual topic such as intimacy.
"What is this about? Is this about…sex?" Hinata meekly asked her teacher.
Kurenai could see the reaction on her student's face, so she decided to encourage Hinata. "Trust me. This magazine tells you everything you need to know about sex. And remember, I'm not saying that you should follow everything that is written here. You're only supposed to use it as a learning tool. Doesn't that sound good, Hinata?" the crimson-eyed woman pointed out.
The young bluenette knew that to be true. Nodding awkwardly, Hinata took hold of the magazine with her own hands.
"Yes. I'll take it. Just let me…" Hinata was trying to reach for something in her pocket, only for Kurenai to grab hold of her right hand. She glanced at her confused. "What are you…" she stopped when Kurenai held up her own wallet for Hinata to see.
"Don't worry about this one, Hinata. This one's also on me. Consider this as a reward for everything good you have done" Kurenai said, yet she could see how Hinata was still not grasping her logic. "Come on, Hinata. As a student, you've done plenty of spectacular things that deserves a reward. I've done this with both Kiba and Shino plenty of times. And to tell you the truth, this will be first time I ever do a favor for you…minus the tea at the café, that is" she went on explaining why she was paying for her.
As much as Hinata wanted to protest, she felt reluctant in knowing how Kurenai was willing to invest into her as a student. The young Hyuuga could understand that her teacher wanted to help her in any way possible. With that said, she smiled as she faced Kurenai.
"Right…thank you, Kurenai-sensei" Hinata said.
"Well, you're a sight for sore eyes, aren't you?" Kurenai and her student could hear a voice calling to them from behind.
Looking up, they witnessed a woman with blue-purplish hair approach them. They immediately recognized who it was, although Anko seemed to know more about this woman, as it was Anko Mitarashi.
"Anko. Fancy seeing you here" Kurenai remarked with a smile on her lips.
"Right back at you. Say, what are you and Hinata doing here?" Anko asked them.
Hinata felt too embarrassed to answer, yet she unwillingly opened her mouth. "Umm…...we just…." Hinata was interrupted when her teacher spoke up.
"I only wanted to show Hinata the type of magazines I like to read. Just look here" Kurenai said while showing Anko the magazine.
This left Anko confused. "Wait. But you're single, aren't you?" she quizzed her.
"Yes. But I still enjoy reading things related to women. Come on, you do that too, Anko" Kurenai pointed out.
Sighing in defeat, Anko knew that Kurenai was not lying. "You're right. I shouldn't judge you" she admitted, although Anko seemed somewhat a little more distressed. "Still, I'm feeling pretty single now. Given how I'm raising Bunko" Anko added.
Kurenai could see the expression on Anko's face. And it made her feel somewhat sorry for her. After all, Kurenai knew all about Anko and how she had once been in a brief relationship with Kakashi.
"Say, Anko. Has Kakashi been around home lately? Or is he still out on those trips of his?" Kurenai asked her, trying to be as polite as possible.
Anko crossed her arms. "What do you think? That masked jackass has once again neglected his child for the sake of his foolish trip to search for any potential dangers to our village. I swear, when is he gonna start manning up and take care of his responsibilities as a father?" her dissatisfaction was on full display for Kurenai and Hinata to see.
Hinata, not exactly the type to get involved in other people's business, decided to join in on the conversation. She too, was aware of the relationship between Anko and Kakashi, partly thanks to Kurenai telling her.
"Does Bunko and Kakashi-sensei have a relationship?" Hinata asked Anko, yet she could already see the anger in the mother's eyes.
"Nope. To tell you the truth, she doesn't know him at all. She looks at him like a complete stranger. Can't say I really blame her, though" Anko replied, her voice as miserable as ever.
Hinata weakly nodded her head in understanding. "I see…that's terrible" the bluenette remarked.
Kurenai, not wanting Hinata to forget why she was at the bookstore, put a hand on her shoulder. "Come on, Hinata. We best get a move on. I just need to pay for the magazine. You can go outside and wait for me. I'll be there as soon as I can" she told her student.
"R-right. I'll wait for you, Kurenai-sensei?" Hinata responded before taking her leave.
This left Kurenai alone with Anko, and they were now free to engage in conversations that revolved around issues facing them as mothers. The crimson-eyed lady faced Anko with that of sympathy.
"It's alright to admit that you're struggling to raise a child on your own, Anko. I'm pretty much in the same boat as you" Kurenai pointed out.
Anko sighed. "I know. But Kakashi still has the opportunity to be there for Bunko. We made him together for God's sake!" she exclaimed while feeling very upset. However, Anko managed to compose herself, yet her sadness was plainly evident. "Please don't tell anyone about this, Kurenai. But there's sometimes that I wish I would've taken an abortion. Yes, I know that it's killing a life…..but I don't know if….." Anko stopped sobbing when Kurenai walked up to her.
"Don't worry, Anko. I'll be on your side. Come on, we're both mothers now. We can still help one another. Not to mention that our kids are classmates" Kurenai assured her, only to notice how Bunko was not around. "Speaking of which, where is Bunko?" she wondered.
"She's at home. But luckily, she's having Keiko over for visit. She won't be alone, fortunately" Anko said with a reassuring smile. "That said, I really appreciate your encouragement, Kurenai. But raising Bunko is something that I will have do contend with on my own. You've already got your hands full in raising Ayumu" she then pointed out.
But Kurenai remained indifferent. "That still won't prevent me from helping a fellow single mom" Kurenai told.
Anko chuckled out of amusement. "Sure. You're always helpful" she remarked before noticing what she would do now. "Look, I better head back home and see how Bunko and Keiko are doing. You know how Genma deeply cares about his daughter's safety and all. But it was nice talking to you, Kurenai" she said before taking her leave.
"Likewise, Anko. See you around" Kurenai kindly responded.
While waving her hand at Anko, Kurenai still couldn't help but to think about Ayumu. It was true, that he would also grow up without a father at his side. Still, she prayed that with enough love and encouragement, Ayumu would grow up to become a wise shinobi as Asuma was. With that taken care of, Kurenai headed to the cashier in order to pay for the magazine.
At the Nara clan compound
Shikamaru and Temari were now home, having a discussion about their upcoming wedding. The engaged couple were joined by Shikamaru's mother: Yoshino Nara. While she wanted to be involved in planning the wedding, Yoshino was acutely aware that this would be her son's day. Therefore, she would have to respect whatever wishes he desired. She looked forward to it, as well as to finally accept Temari as her daughter-in-law.
Also sitting by the table were several clansmen of the Nara. They would each be responsible for certain things related to the wedding, whether it was security, food or even music. Shikamaru didn't really want the wedding to be that big, but since important guests would come, he knew he had to accommodate them. The following clansmen who were at the able were Suzaku, Ensui, Enchu and Kasuga.
Yoshino and the other Naras were, so far, pleased to hear what Shikamaru and Temari had planned. Right now, they discussing about the guestlist.
"You've really done a good so far, Shikamaru. Both the Akimichi and Yamanaka clans will come. And of course, having Chouji and Ino at your wedding means a lot to you" Yoshino said with a smile on her lips. "But hey, you've also sent invitations to Kiki and Soba, right? Come on, they're my best friends, as well as your friends' mothers" she smugly ganged upon her son.
Shikamaru groaned at hearing this. "I know. That's why they're also invited. Geez, you really gotta stop pretending that the wedding's gonna be that important" he responded, much to the amusement of his fiancé.
"But it WILL be an important day, Shikamaru" the voice came from Enchu, who was what could be called an advisor to the clan head. Having previously been that to Shikamaru's late father Shikaku, Enchu's wisdom was valued greatly amongst his fellow Naras. Yet Shikamaru sometimes considered him annoying. "Bear in mind that not just the Hokage, but the Kazekage as well, will be attending the wedding. As clan head, you should feel honored to have two of the Five Kages as your guests. That's not something to be so dismissive of" Enchu sternly reminded the young clan head.
"Oh, Shikamaru knows that already" Temari assured him before looking at her fiancé. "And to tell you the truth, Gaara is completely relaxed with regards to the wedding. It's just Kankuro who needs to be watched. You know, so that he doesn't fool around and mess with the female guests and all that nonsense" the dark blonde-haired woman pointed out.
Shikamaru chuckled before kissing Temari's left cheek. "No need to panic. We'll be having top security guards who will make sure that no guest will misbehave. And that includes flirting, groping or getting drunk" he said before directing his attention towards Ensui. "Ensui. You're with the Shadow Squad. Surely you can bring some of your comrades to the ceremony and act as our eyes and ears, right?" he asked the clans man, who was associated with the ANBU Black Ops.
"Of course, young master. I will see to what I can provide" Ensui replied.
"Argh, how many times must I say this? Drop the damn formalities. Seriously, all these words of "young master" and "lord" sounds so corny to me" Shikamaru complained, disliking being referred to as such.
Ensui lowered his head in slight shame. "Right. I apologize. It's an old habit of mine" the clansman insisted.
"Now let's get back to the matter at hand. Since you are Nara clan head, inviting the other clan heads of the village is highly recommended" Suzaku pointed out to Shikamaru.
The young clan head scratched the back of his head. "Yeah, I know. And trust me, the leaders of the Hyuuga, Inuzuka and Aburame clans are invited. While I'm confident that the Aburames will behave during the ceremony…I can't say the same about the Hyuugas and Inuzukas" Shikamaru stated, thinking about those two clans.
Yoshino crossed her arms with a huff. "Come on. Don't tell me that Hiashi and Tsume are still at each other's throat over their children dating. I swear, those two just can't seem to get along with one another" the middle-aged woman expressed her dissatisfaction over this.
"That's not the issue here, mom" Shikamaru pointed out, making Yoshino glance at him with a raised eyebrow. "It's just that…...the Hyuugas will probably start complaining about how everything's not perfect and how we Naras live like bottom feeders. And then the Inuzukas will cause a huge mess with their nasty eating habits and all that. That's what concerns me most" he revealed.
But those sitting around him were only dumbfounded by his statement, even Temari. "You're joking, right?" Kasuga questioned his young superior.
"Nah-uh. Why would I?" Shikamaru responded back to them. "I only want things to go smoothly so that…" he was interrupted by the voice of his fiancé.
"Shikamaru. This is obviously the dumbest statement you've made. Why in the world should we concern ourselves with them?" Temari questioned him. "If those two clans wanna do what they gotta, then so be it. This is OUR wedding. We're not obliged to give them any concessions" she made sure her future husband got it through his head.
As taken aback as Shikamaru was, he felt the need to accept the logic coming from Temari. She was his future wife, there was no reason for him to disregard her words.
"You're right, Temari. I'm sorry for getting so worked up" Shikamaru said, stroking his forehead. "Geez, planning a wedding sure takes a toll on your head. Still, I think I've decided who will be responsible for the invitations and stuff. That will be you, Suzaku" he told the Nara clansman.
Suzaku nodded his head in reply. "Of course, Shikamaru. I'll be happy to do that for you" he said.
"And as for the one who will be leading the wedding ceremony. I would say that you Enchu are pretty much suited for the job. Come one, you were dad's closest confidante, remember?" Shikamaru then told the middle-aged man.
Enchu couldn't help but to chuckle out of amusement. "That is true. But I'll have you know that I wasn't the priest at your parents' wedding. Oh no, I was actually your father's best man" he pointed out, recalling a good time when he witnessed the wedding of Shikaku and Yoshino.
Yoshino felt herself smile as she looked at Enchu. "Ah, those were the days. Can't believe so much has changed since that day" she recalled the day she tied knots with Shikaku. "Still, Shikamaru has a point. You would do nicely as the priest of the ceremony. Hell, Shikaku would've wanted the same thing" she bluntly told the clansman.
The clan head advisor smiled, feeling emboldened by the words his late friend's wife gave him.
"Very well. Then I humbly accept the responsibility. It would be an honor, Shikamaru" he told the young clan head, who was pretty satisfied with his answer.
"Good answer, Enchu" Shikamaru replied.
Temari, having felt that she had said little, decided to join in on the discussion. It was also her day, despite planning it here with his fiancé's family.
"Just to clarify, the wedding will take place in the gardens outside this compound, yes?" Temari asked Shikamaru, although she was directing the question towards the other Naras as well.
"Yeah. I guess that's pretty much it. I was previously considering having the ceremony in the Nara clan's forest, but that would only upset the deer. They only let members of the Nara clan near them. All others, they'll attack them on sight" Shikamaru answered, feeling a little akwawrd as he told Temari that.
But she was filled with curiosity. "Oh, that reminds me. I can't to become a Nara. Then I will finally be able to accompany you into the forest and look at the deer" Temari expressed her desire, much to the surprise of her fiancé.
Yet Shikamaru quickly turned that surprise into laughter. "I know. There's more to the benefit of becoming a Nara" he told her before looking at Kasuga. "Kasuga, I place you in charge of making sure the gardens are cleaned and decorated for the wedding. But the ceremony won't be the only thing happening there. There is the eating, mingling, fun and games…" Shikamaru told him about his responsibilities.
"I will, Shikamaru. But since it's your day, you will have to decide what food and drinks we will serve to our guests. And let's not forget about the wedding photo. We will need to hire a photographer" Kasuga responded.
"Oh, that. Geez, I'd almost forgot" Shikamaru said while rubbing his face. "The photographer is easy to hire. But the menu…." Shikamaru was interrupted by the voice of Temari once again.
"I think some sake and champagne would be nice for drinks. You know what I'm talking about, Shikamaru" Temari informed her fiancé, who understood what she was referring to.
"Yeah, I know. Like that new bar we often visit in the Sand Village" the young clan head responded.
Yoshino felt the need to ask more from her future daughter-in-law about the guestlist. "If we could just return to the guestlist, who else from the Sand Village will attend besides your family?" she asked Temari.
"Certainly. My teacher Baki will be present, as will other dutifully jounins of the Sand. And of course, the Honored Grandfather Ebizo himself will come along with us" Temari revealed, much to the surprise of all the Naras.
"You mean THE Ebizo? But isn't he too told to be traveling to long distances?" Shikamaru quizzed her.
Temari scoffed at her fiancé's words. "Hell no! Ebizo is still an important figure in the Sand Village alongside Gaara. He also appears to be friends with those two elders of the Leaf Council" she reprimanded him. "Besides, Ebizo himself told me that he would be honored to witness our marriage. From what he said, it would symbolize the strong cooperation that exists between our two villages. That's why Ebizo will attend the wedding" he continued to explain the reasons for him coming.
"Well. If someone like him wants to come, then I guess our wedding will be one big day for us both" Shikamaru remarked, feeling somewhat glad to hear how Ebizo had given their engagement his blessings. He put an arm around Temari and planted a kiss on her right cheek. "Still, you and I will make sure that all the guests will have a good time at the wedding. Heck, I think I'm starting to look more forward to our wedding the more I hear of people wanting to show up" the Nara clan head admitted, much to Temari's amusement.
"Of course, you do. It's the day we finally become husband and wife" Temari said before planting a kiss on Shikamaru's lips.
He felt somewhat awkward, seeing as his mother and other clansmen were sitting around them as they locked lips. Still, Shikamaru never made an attempt to stop. He actually enjoyed this sensation.
Yoshino shook her head slightly, yet it was done so out of admiration. "Well, Shikaku. What can I say? Our son really has grown up to be a smart, yet a cocky leader. And to think he's getting married now. Boy, you would love to witness this" she thought about her late husband.
As sad as she was of Shikaku not being able to witness the wedding of his son, she knew that no matter how painful it was, Shikamaru would let go of his loss and start a new life with his future wife.
Next day, inside an apartment
Sasuke woke up in the tiny bedroom he was sleeping in. Still, it was his, as were the rest of the apartment he was living in. For the past couple of years, Sasuke had saved enough money to buy himself his own place to stay, having previously stayed at Naruto's after the trial he had underwent. Because of the purchasing, Sasuke was literally broke. That's why he hoped his job in the Shadow Squad would earn him a decent living.
So far, Sasuke had refused any offers of help with the money from Naruto, Sakura or Ino. He knew that this was something he would have to do on his own. And Sasuke was confident that he would accomplish that.
After exiting the shower and putting on some clothes, Sasuke entered his living room, taking his seat on a couch. While the apartment was tiny, it had his own balcony, as well as a bathroom and a washing room. Such things were just what Sasuke needed. He even opened the door to the balcony in order to get some fresh air into his apartment.
Today, Sasuke was free now, as he had spent some time out in the fields for a long time. Still, it didn't sway Sasuke to stop investigating more of this so-called Dragon Creed. Because of what had happened with Saizo, Sasuke could never forgive them for what they did. He would only be at peace by himself once its members were brought down to justice. Slowly, Sasuke began summarizing the searches he had done while out in the fields.
"Things seem to have calmed down in the Land of Waves. However, I happened to stumble upon something awfully interesting in the Land of Hot Water, or perhaps more specifically in the place that was once the Hidden Hot Water Village" Sasuke summarized while observing this on a map.
He even put something upon the map. It was what appeared to be a poster. To most people, it looked like a common tourist brochure, as it did promote the Village Hidden in the Gold. But for Sasuke, it involved something much more.
"This poster…it encourages all people…whether they're young or old, to come to this Gold Village. And the promises that stands there" Sasuke started reading on what appeared to be words of promise.
Among those things he could read was that people would be promised a new life of prosperity and happiness in this Gold Village. This message was directed not just to those who were homeless or had victims of war…...but also rouge-ninjas. Sasuke never could see this as something of a recruitment.
"From what the Grim Guard and the Divine Division has said, no foreigner that has visited the island, has ever been seen returning to their homes" Sasuke recalled to the report he had been given by his superiors. "Something doesn't make any sense here" the Uchiha continued.
"Any luck with finding some clues so far?" a voice could be heard from the balcony, yet Sasuke didn't necessarily seem surprised. He ignored it and proceeded to look down on the map before him.
"I think his lack of response means no" another voice came.
Those voices belonged to Yamato and Sai. Like Sasuke, they were also members of the Shadow Squad. And now, they were standing out on Sasuke's balcony. They entered his apartment, yet Sasuke didn't bother to look at them.
"What are you two doing here?" the young Uchiha asked them in irritation. "Unless I'm mistaking, it's impolite to not use the door when you're visiting someone" he sternly reprimanded them.
Neither Yamato nor Sai seemed to be in disagreement of what Sasuke said, seeing as they both scratched the back of their heads.
"On that, you're actually correct, Sasuke. And I do apologize" Sai spoke up before taking his seat on one of the chairs across the table.
Yamato took his besides Sai. "While we can't argue with you on that, you still have to recognize that we of the Shadow Squad are bound to keep each other in check. And by that, I mean visiting fellow members without letting them know" Yamato then explained the reason why he and Sai had just done that.
"That still doesn't make any sense" Sasuke refuted his explanation. But he soon let go of this episode and showed both Sai and Yamato what he was looking at. "Anyway, I was in the middle of analyzing this poster I found hanging in the Land of Hot Water" he revealed to them.
"Yes. These posters promoting this Village Hidden in the Gold. They've been popping up recently. And not just in the Land of Hot Water, but throughout the world as well" Yamato remarked as he took a look.
"Indeed. You'll find them as far as the Land of Frost. But I'm not sure whether you'll find them in the Land of Earth or the Land of Lightning. Those countries have now pursued isolationist policies. They most certainly don't let any ninjas from the Leaf, Sand or Mist in" Yamato summarized in what he knew about those posters. "Tell me, Sasuke. You seem to have found some connections to it, haven't you?" he then asked the Uchiha.
Sasuke shook his head. "No. Those are just my instincts. But with all the human trafficking that's been happening around the world…..it would be strange to say bring all of your family, whether they're old or young, to a place like that" he told them.
"According to the Grim Guard, no villager from the Sand has ever returned. And the last one that disappeared was at the Land of Wind's coastline. And bear in mind that the Land of Gold is located on an island only two hours away from it" Sai revealed as he looked at the map.
"Not to mention, there was an incident that happened two years ago. You guys know what I'm talking about. The incident that prevented the Sand Village from participating in the battle on the Island of Tides" Yamato pointed out.
Sasuke had been informed about this incident, as had most of the Leaf Village. They had learned through Temari, about how a disfranchised elder was freed from his prison in the Sand Village. And not only that, they had also escaped from the village and into the desert. Gaara had reason to suspect that whoever had freed Tojuro could've perhaps been the one to expose the Triple Entente to the Cloud and Stone Villages. Whatever goals those leakers had, the revelation had damaged any attempt for the Five Great Elemental Nations to unite against their common problems.
"I may not know who these Dragon Creed members are, but I can tell that they're being led by someone who's twisted beyond imagination" Sasuke remarked, recalling to the report he had been given.
"Speaking of which, the wedding of Shikamaru and Temari is coming up next week" Sai informed his fellow members of the Shadow Squad. "From what I've heard Ensui say, he's been requested to hire some of us to act as security of the ceremony" he added.
Yamato smiled in hearing this announcement. "Oh yeah, I had almost forgotten. Thanks for reminding me, Sai" the brown-haired man admitted.
Sai then turned his attention towards Sasuke, who was unfazed. "He's been asking for your assistance with the security, Sasuke" he told him.
Sasuke felt the need to laugh off Sai's statement, which he actually did. "Give me a break. There must be something wrong with your ears. I mean, as for as I know, me and Shikamaru have a bad relationship. Why in the world would Ensui even…." Sasuke was stopped by Sai speaking.
"He knows that. But Ensui still believes you're the strongest member of the Shadow Squad. That's why he wishes to recruit you. Come on, I bet Shikamaru will at least be pleased to have someone like you guard his ceremony. Plus, you may get the chance of speaking with Ino. She'll definitely be happy to have you there. As will Naruto and the others" Sai explained, doing his best to convince Sasuke.
With a weak smile forming on his lips, Sasuke faced Sai with what appeared to be an acceptance of the offer. "Very well. I'll consider taking the job. Is there a place Ensui and I can meet in private? Without having Shikamaru snooping around?" the Uchiha asked.
This time, Yamato seemed to have an answer. "If you want, I can arrange for you two to meet at the park later. And trust me, Shikamaru won't know about it" he assured Sasuke.
"Then tell Ensui that I'm interested" Sasuke responded, much to the amusement of Sai and Yamato.
Later, at the gates of the Leaf Village
Rock Lee was in full swings, as he stretched his arms and legs. Wearing a green t-shirt, green shorts and white sneakers, he was ready to have this training date with Tenten. From what they had agreed upon, they would jog together throughout the village until they reached Tenten's home. It was like a competition between them.
"Man, I can't wait to see how Tenten does at jogging. Obviously, she must've improved since last time. But I'm still the king of jogging, no doubt about that!" Lee was boasting to himself in such a prideful manner, confident about his skills.
But then again, Lee was hoping for some competition in Tenten. She was not as bad in training or any other physical activities either.
"Hey there, big boy!" he turned around with a bright smile to see who that voice belonged to.
The man with the fuzzy eyebrows was speechless. It was Tenten, alright. But her training attire was what really made Lee stunned. She wore a white and black training bra that hugged her cleavage well. Her flat and toned stomach was exposed, much to Lee's perverted joy. Tenten's hips were also breathtaking to say at least.
