Chapter 32.1 – the final good bye
"There has to be another way, Vlad, please; you can't do this, and you also can't expect me to go through with this. I can protect..."
"No, Kai!" Vladimir suddenly exclaims in an almost aggressive manner while abruptly getting up from the couch and walking towards the glass doors that leads out to the balcony, and he comes to a standstill right in front of them, his back faced towards Kai, and there is no mistaking the tension that has suddenly increased tenfold within the room and within Vladimir's body, "I already told you that you cannot protect me, Kai; no one can."
Kai can only look at the tensed back of his best friend, he still unable to comprehend of what Vladimir has just asked of him; he takes a deep breath and also gets up from his seat and walks towards Vladimir and just as he comes to a standstill right next to Vladimir, Vladimir opens up the door and walks out on to the balcony, and Kai only watches how Vladimir walks towards the railings of the balcony and grips it with his hands while looking out at the city.
Kai silently sighs to himself before also walking out on to the balcony, but he does not come to stand right next to Vladimir, and instead stops about three feet away from his best friend, he suddenly feeling like he should tread lightly around Vladimir; it is not every day that the calm and collected attorney loses his cool like that, but then again, he is known as Pit bull, so he had to get the name in some manner. It just remains a strange and also scary sight to Kai to see Vladimir in this dark light.
"I can help you, Vlad, in another way than what you want from me. I can get your parents and you fake identities and you can leave this continent and start all over somewhere else where you will never have to worry about anything; I can take care of you and your family for the rest of your lives; please, Vlad, think this over," and Kai must admit that it feels strange to hear himself plead like this because he is not the type of person to beg and plead for anything, but for Vladimir he will go down on his knees if it means he can change his friend's plan about what he wants Kai to do to him and his family.
Vladimir continues to look out at the city life but at least he does not stay silent, "I know you can, Kai, but that is not enough. You don't know these people; you may have all the power that thousands of people can only dream about, but not even you are a match for these people. They control everything, and they can even control you and your business without you even realising it, Kai; these people control everything all over the world, from the stock market to the number of kids that get injected with dangerous vaccines that will bring them more money in the future. No one is a match for them, not even the world's strongest army because they will also be able to control that, so yeah, I will never be safe, Kai, never, not for as long as I live."
Kai does not like hearing that someone is stronger than him and that they can control him without him even realising it, but right now it is not about his power or his pride; it is about his best friend and what is being asked of him.
"Whoever these people are, I am sure that we can outsmart them, Vlad; please, we have to at least try."
Vladimir snorts at this, "I have tried to reason with them, Kai, but they don't listen. I made a deal with the Satan himself a long time ago and yeah, it costs to make deals with him, and this is unfortunately my price that I will have to pay for the deal that I had made a long time ago."
Kai does not know how else he will be able to talk Vladimir out of this ludicrous plan of his; there simply has to be some way he can get his friend to change his mind on his supposed plans.
"If I do this, Vlad, what about your sister? She will be devastated; this will completely break her."
"She will be fine; she is a strong woman, Kai," is all that Vladimir says to this in a cold tone of voice.
"You can't leave her alone, Vladimir; not even you are that heartless."
"My sister is none of your concern, Kai, and I thought I told you to never mention my sister," and now Vladimir sounds even colder than before, and Kai can't help but to start feeling a little anxious while hearing Vladimir talk like this.
It is not every day he hears his best friend sound like a heartless mobster, and it sure as hell is not a pretty sight.
"If you don't want to do this, Kai, then fine, it is your choice; I won't force you, but just know that I had asked you this because you are the only one that I trust in this entire world and I know that you will do exactly what I had asked you because you don't know how to fail, Kai, and I also know that you cannot let a friend down, no matter how hard the task is that is being asked of you."
Kai curses himself within his mind because he already knows deep down that he is capable of doing this, only to help his friend out, 'Curse these Hiwatari genes for the loyalty towards those that we care for,' and he even scowls at himself while still looking at Vladimir's tense back.
A moment of silence descends on to the two friends, but surprisingly enough is Kai the one to break the silence after he sighs to himself and makes his way towards the railings and he comes to stand right next to Vladimir, he also looking out at the city life of the night, "When do you want this to be done, Vlad?"
Kai flutters opens his eyes and he groans when the sharp light greets his eyes and he keeps his eyes closed for a few seconds more while coming to grips of the memory about the night Vladimir had asked him to kill both him and his parents.
Kai thinks back to that night, that being a night that he will never forget for as long as he lives because it is not everyday your best friend asks you to kill him. Before Kai can get absorbed in the memory once more, he feels a shift next to him and when he opens up his eyes, he is greeted with the beautiful sight of his girlfriend smiling down at him, and he can't help but to smile back at her. Mya leans down and pecks him on the mouth before resuming her previous position of smiling down on her boyfriend's sleepy face.
"Did you enjoy your little nap, my phoenix?" she asks in a caring and soft tone of voice, her eyes shining with life while she continues to look down at her boyfriend who looks so cute while still looking so sleepy, almost looking like he will fall asleep again any second now.
Kai can't understand how he had fallen asleep; the one moment he was still watching a movie with Mya, and the next thing he knows he is dreaming about Vladimir, but if he must be honest, he feels like he can sleep for an entire week because his body and the stress he had to endure these last couple of weeks has finally caught up with him; he can be a powerful person, but even he will succumb to nature, and he feels like he can just go straight to bed and sleep some more.
"I am just so tired," Kai says in a croaky tone of voice as he continues to look deep into Mya's eyes, he still not able to fully believe his luck of finally having his precious bubbly blonde with him.
"Which I think is normal giving all that has happened lately; I don't even think Superman would have been able to stay strong after all that shit, so let's get you upstairs and back into bed, my phoenix, so that you can rest. I wondered when all of this was going to catch up with you."
"What time is it?"
Mya presses on her phone to light up the screen so that she can check the time, "It is 27 minutes to nine, still early, so you can get that pretty ass upstairs and have an early night, and no arguing, okay?" Mya says while she smiles softly at Kai as she gently cups his left cheek with her right hand, she too looking deep into his eyes.
"I will walk with you just to make sure that you get into bed," Mya says softly just before she leans down and places another peck of a kiss on to Kai's mouth which he welcomes entirely and he scowls at Mya in a playful manner when she abruptly pulls away, the black haired beauty only chuckling at her boyfriend.
"You need to get into bed, Mr Hiwatari, and only then will I decide whether I will give you a proper good night kiss or not, but first: upstairs."
Mya gets up from the couch and holds her left hand out for Kai so that she can pull him up from the couch, he taking her hand and he allows her help him up, and hand in hand the two lovers make their way upstairs with little conversation between the two of them, only a perfect silence surrounding them like a cosy blanket.
The love of his life may be by his side right now, but he cannot shake the memory he had about Vladimir, 'How long will you haunt me this time, Vladimir?' Kai thinks to himself as he reaches the second storey of Hiwatrai manor, his bedroom located on the third storey.
Kai gives Mya's hand a light squeeze and turns his attention towards her, he smiling softly at her, and he receives a large grin in return which immediately makes his heart pick up pace because that grin is only for him and no one else.
The two lovers reach the bedroom in no time and Kai releases his hold on Mya's hand as he just goes straight for the bed and takes a seat, Mya only chuckling at him while she comes to stand right in front of him.
"And now I will give you a proper good night kiss," Mya says huskily while she puts her hands on to Kai's bare shoulders and leans down where she softly yet very sensually places her lips onto Kai's lips, and just like that, a surge of electricity courses through her body the moment her lips come into contact with Kai's lips.
Kai places his hands on to Mya's hips and just like her, electricity courses through his entire being, but just before he can get too comfortable with her taste and feel, Mya pulls away from him and stands up straight once more, this leaving Kai somewhat pissed because he was not done kissing her.
"I will leave you so that you can get some well deserved sleep, my phoenix," Mya says while she takes a step back from Kai but before she can step back even more, Kai takes hold of her right hand and pulls her towards him where he quickly wraps his arms around her body so that he can keep her with him before she can try to get away.
Mya giggles at this move while she tries to keep herself balanced within Kai's hold, "And what now? Aren't you supposed to go to bed?"
"Stay the night with me, please," Kai says in an almost pleading manner, and Mya smiles softly at this after seeing the sadness within Kai's eyes, even though she has no idea where this sudden sadness is coming from, but either way, she will not deny her boyfriend this request because she also wants to spend the night with Kai, even if it means just to feel his body next to her own while she sleeps securely within his arms.
Mya says nothing to his request and just leans down to gently kiss him on the lips before pulling away, she looking deep into her boyfriend's eyes while she smiles softly at him, "I can't think of a better place to spend the night, my phoenix, other than here with you."
Nothing else is said between the two lovers as they again start to kiss one another, the two doing it in a passionate yet also very sensual manner as their lips and tongues move so expertly along with each other, the kissing filled with so much passion and also so much compassion, along with love and longing, and in Kai's case, it also being filled with sadness and regret because he had killed his best friend; he had taken Ana's family away from her, and he suddenly feels very guilty about it, even if it was not under his own orders, but rather by her own brother's orders, but either way, he had executed the order so that he makes him just as guilty as Vladimir.
Sure, he felt guilty after he had killed Vladimir and his parents, but it has never been this intense; maybe it is because he finally has his Ana with him, knowing that she is actually alone in this world all because of his hand that he had played in the murders, 'But one day you will know the truth, my bubbly blonde.'
Within a blink of an eye, Kai gets up and picks up Mya along with him, she immediately wrapping her legs around his body while he switches their positions so that he can be the dominant one, and he gently puts Mya on to the bed, and without breaking the sensual kissing between the two of them, he gets on top of her where he places his hands on either side of her head to keep himself balanced over his Mya while she starts to run her hands down his bare back, she softly moaning into the kiss because of another surge of electricity coursing through her body.
Kai knows that his balls will be in agony in no time, but the pain is still worth it because he gets to have his Mya with him, he gets to fall asleep with her in his arms after he has had his fill with her lips and addictive kisses, and all of that is worth any pain that he has to endure in between his legs.
It feels so indescribable by having Mya underneath him like this, moaning only for him while he gets to feel her lips on his own all while exploring her body with his hands, and again Kai cannot wait to finally make love to his precious Mya; no doubt that it will be an experience out of this world, but he does not want to rush into it, he first wants to enjoy having her as his girlfriend that is still somewhat forbidden territory, well, her body at least. He cannot wait for that day he will be allowed to eat the forbidden fruit of the Garden of Eden that is his Mya.

No matter how hard he tries to think of anything else, even of his Mya, nothing can take his mind off of the haunting memories of what had happened that night, the last night he saw his best friend alive.
Kai is sitting on the edge of the bed with his knees pulled up to his chest with his arms wrapped around his pulled up legs while he looks at the night sky of Moscow outside his window, despite not seeing much.
'Why now? Why are you haunting me like this, Vladimir? Is it because I did not stay away from Ana like you had asked, is that why you haunt my memories and make me constantly feel bad for what I have done to you and your family? Why can't I be happy like all the other people? Why should I constantly be consumed by the darkness and be unable to feel true and sincere happiness in my life like everyone else does? Don't I deserve to be happy as well?'
Kai removes his arms from around his legs and lowers his legs and quietly gets up from the bed; he turns around and looks at Mya's sleeping silhouette in his bed, and even though he cannot see it clearly, he can see her flawless naked back turned towards him, and while still looking at her sleeping form, he grabs his packet of cigarettes and lighter from the bed stand and makes his way towards the door that leads out on to his balcony.
The night air is still warm which is why he can walk out while wearing only his boxers; he comes to stand in front of the edge of the his balcony and places his packet of cigarettes on the concrete railing after removing a cigarette and lighting it, and while taking a drag from it, his mind once more drifts back to the night when he had killed Vladimir.
The house is quiet while he makes his way upstairs; he has ordered Tala to remain outside and to inspect the area to see whether anyone is in the vicinity, and after he has done that, he should look around the first storey and check every closed door, and he that is Kai will do the upper storey so long.
With each step that he takes towards Vladimir's bedroom, his heart is breaking more and more into thousands of pieces because he is literally walking to Vladimir's demise.
He does not even knock, and quietly opens up the bedroom door and walks in, and just as expected, Vladimir is sitting on his bed and waiting for him. Vladimir says nothing and just gets up and hugs Kai tightly which he immediately returns, the two best friends holding each other for a few seconds longer before releasing their hold on one another.
"Vladimir, please, we don't have to do this, please; I can have you and your parents out of the country within an hour, please," Kai again tries to plead with his friend, because even though he is a heartless killer by nature, he never would have thought that he would have to kill his best friend.
Vladimir sighs at Kai's plea, "We talked about this, Kai, more than once and there is no other way. I know it is very unfair what I am asking of you but just know that I will always appreciate this sacrifice, Kai, always."
Kai does not know what to say to this; he is certain that there has to be another way, but Vladimir refuses to see it; it is almost as if Vladimir wants to die.
Vladimir clears his throat and turns away from Kai where he takes a seat on his bed, "I gave my parents the sleeping pills right before they went to bed; I had to put it in their teas, but at least I know that they will not know what has happened to them."
"Tala will be here any minute, and he will help in drugging your parents, but I will be the one to do the killing."
"Good, just like we have discussed."
A sudden uncomfortable silence descends upon the two men, as both suddenly seem to realise what is about to happen, and it is not going to have a happy ending, "Vlad, please..." but before Kai can continue to once again try and reason with Vladimir, Vladimir interrupts him.
"Kai, please, don't make this harder than it already is, please, I am begging you. It is already done; you just have to finish up the last touches."
Vladimir gets up because it is finally time to greet Kai and to get this over with; he again pulls Kai into a tight embrace, a single tear making its way down Kai's left cheek while he holds his best friend close to him for one last time.
The two men finally pull apart and Vladimir again makes his way towards his bed where he lies down this time, he patiently waiting for Kai to get on with this horrible deed.
Kai removes the small bottle of chloroform from his pocket, and with the linen cloth, he doses it with the liquid and after placing the small bottle back into his pocket, he slowly walks towards his friend, he fighting to keep the tears at bay because of what he is about to do.
"Everything will turn out fine, Kai, you will see; soon I will be a forgotten memory, and you will be able to live your life guilt free."
"I will never forget you, Vladimir," Kai says softly while he keeps his focus on Vladimir, he still unable to believe that he is about to kill his best friend, that he is about to murder him.
Vladimir chuckles, "Yeah, I know, I am kind of hard to forget," Vladimir says in a jokingly manner, but Kai can't smile at that poor joke.
"Are you sure your tracks will be covered, Kai?"
"Yeah; it will only be a matter of time before the police will find the guilty."
"Should I feel sorry for the man that is going to get framed?"
Kai shakes his head from side to side, "No, because he is an irritating pest that deserves what is coming to him, so don't worry about it."
"Good then."
And again another uncomfortable silence descends onto the two men because it is finally time; there is no postponing the inevitable any more.
"Thank you, Kai, for everything that you are doing for me, and that you have done for me in the past; just know that it is deeply appreciated."
"I will miss you, Vladimir, I hope you realise that; I am about to kill my best friend, and that will haunt me for the rest of my life."
"You are a strong man, Kai; you will survive it, so come on, it's time, Kai."
Kai rests his left knee on the bed as he leans towards Vladimir, he suddenly working on autopilot because that is the only way he will be able to do this right now, "Goodbye, my friend," Kai says softly right before he puts the cloth over Vladimir's mouth, and he continues to hold it there until he feels Vladimir's body go limp, this indicating that his best friend is finally unconscious.
While still in this position, Kai removes the knife from his pocket, and after taking a very deep breath to calm his nerves, he fluently slits Vladimir's throat, just like how Vladimir had requested.
Kai looks at Vladimir one last time before finally getting up, and without looking at his best friend for a last time, Kai makes his way out of the room because he now has to kill the parents.
Tala comes walking down the hallway just as Kai's closes the door to Vladimir's bedroom, "He dead?" this being all that Tala asks softly.
Kai only answers with an 'Hn' before he makes his way to the room that he knows is the bedroom of Vladimir's parents, Tala following silently. The two men enter the room, and Tala already knows what he has to do; he is to help drug the parents, but Kai will do the killing.
Kai knows that there is no way that Ivan and Alisa will wake up due to Vladimir drugging them before hand, but it does not make him feel any better. He will never get to experience Ana's loss over the murders of her family, and he will also never be able to console her because he has to respect Vladimir's wishes: for him to stay away from Anastasia Grekov until one day where the truth will be revealed to her, but even then will he not be allowed to see her or talk to her; everything will have to be done through a messenger.
Kai quickly goes to work in dosing the linen cloth with the chloroform, and then hands the bottle to Tala who also does a quick job in dosing his cloth.
"On the count of one," Kai says as both he and Tala comes to stand on either side of the bed, "One..." and then they both quickly place the cloths on to the sleeping married couple's noses where they wait for about 30 seconds before removing the cloths.
"Are you sure that you want to do this alone, Kai?"
"Yes; I want to feel all of the satisfaction that I can feel knowing that I had killed this entire family for doing me wrong; go downstairs and go check again to see whether someone is in the vicinity," Kai orders, and without saying else, Tala leaves the room.
Kai knows that he lied to Tala by saying that he wants to get all of the satisfaction by killing them all, because he will never get any kind of satisfaction from this; instead, he will only get heartache by doing this.
Kai looks down at the sleeping forms of Ivan and Alisa, "I am so sorry for what I am about to do to you two and also what this will do to Ana, but I had no other choice. Just know that I was very fond of you, and you had always made me feel so welcome, even if it was in the form of a disguise; I will forever cherish our moments together," and without saying anything else, Kai once again removes the knife and slits Alisa's throat first before moving on to Ivan.
In no time are the married couple dead, and Kai leaves the room without a last glance at them because he knows that it will hurt more if he should look at them one last time.
It won't be long before the bodies will be discovered, and it will also not be long before Ana's world will be completely shattered, all by his doing, well, by Vladimir and his doing.
Kai runs his hands through his hair as now it seems that the memories just don't want to stop, and it feels like he can go crazy by all of the stuff that is running through his mind right now.
'This must be my punishment for not listening to Vladimir and respecting his wishes, but what else can I do? His sister was and is the only woman I want to be with, and now I finally have her with me, and I will be damned before I give her up for anything, so if it means I will continue to have these haunted episodes, then so be it. I also deserve to be happy, and I am happy with Mya, and no one or no-thing will ever take her away from me.'
Kai glances over his estate a last time before picking up his packet of cigarettes and lighter and heading back inside; he places his belongings on to his bed stand and again looks at Mya's sleeping form, he wishing he could see her now, and so, he switches on the bed lamp and he can only smile to himself when he looks at Mya and sees her bare back, he suddenly taking in a deep breath that stems solely from lust and desire because he can already see himself run his hands and mouth over the smooth skin of her naked back.
Kai quickly shakes his head from side to side while smirking to himself, 'Hopefully it won't be long before we finally make love, my precious Mya; then we will truly be united forever.'

The one moment it was still weekend, and the next thing everyone knows, it is the start of a brand new week. It is early Monday morning and the beautiful city of Moscow has already woken up to start the week; for some it will be a glorious Monday, and for some it will be a blue Monday, and for others it will even be a black Monday; however, for three specific men, it will be a bloody and painful Monday seeing as their torturer is already on her way for their first session of torture of the day.
Mya is smiling to herself as she makes her way down the hall towards the room that has now been dubbed the 'de-penisfier' which is not even a real word, but that is the name the men has given this room seeing as the three men inside will lose their penises eventually, a thing that any normal man dreads happening to them one day.
The reason Mya is smiling to herself is not because she is about to mutilate Katja's rapists, some more; no, it is because she got to wake up in Kai's arms this morning after falling asleep in his arms last night, and to her that is enough to make her smile for days on end.
Her mind immediately travels back to their passionate moment that they had experienced during the night; she still has no idea how it happened but she cannot complain because it was so hot between Kai and her, that sex was not needed because everything was already hot all on its own.
She can still see Kai sitting against the headboard and feel his erection press in between her legs as she slowly grinds her pelvic area against his erection with her own aroused crotch, all while kissing each other passionately. Today is their one week anniversary, which is actually nothing, but still, she has already been Kai Hiwatari's girlfriend for a week, and Kai Hiwatari has been her boyfriend for an entire week already, and yes, there will be no big celebrations for this but for her, Mya feels like celebrating something.
Mya reaches the door that leads into the room and after smiling to herself for one last time, she opens up the door and the moment she walks in through the door, she turns into the sadistic Mya Azarov, the one that is needed to do the gruesome job that lies ahead.
Mya sees the three men dangling once more, and she smirks at them while greeting them as she starts to make her way towards the trolley that has already been prepared with the necessary equipment, and all that she gets in return from the men are muffled groans and moans.
She has kept to her word and has tortured the three men three times a day, and in the exact order she has said she is going to do it, and she is very happy with the results so far. The three men are kept in this dangling position for the entire day where they are force fed, and after Mya has finished with her evening session of torturing, the three men are removed from the chains and then taken to shower and to get dressed, and they are again fed, but not forced, and after having had their dinner, they are escorted to their beds so that they can sleep only for the cycle to begin all over again the next day.
All of this is closely monitored because Mya does not want one of the three to get it into their heads to try and commit suicide; she wants to keep them alive for as long as she can hence why is treating them somewhat in a humane manner, because then their bodies will be able to take much more stress than normal. There is no way in hell she is doing this out of the goodness of her heart because these three rapists do not deserve it.
"Did you three sleep well?" Mya asks sarcastically while she starts to put on her surgical gloves so that she can start the torturing, Mya again only receiving muffled moans while the three pull and tug on their chains.
"Well, I slept absolutely wonderful, and I cannot wait for night time to come so that I can have another wonderful night of blissful sleep," Mya says in a mocking manner as she takes hold of the tweezers and scalpel and walks towards her first victim who now starts to wiggle frantically but he knows that it is no use; she will get him and his penis.

Kai walks in through the door and the first thing that he sees are the packed boxes that are neatly stacked together, and this immediately saddens him because Ray really is leaving, and now he is more than determined to fix things with Ray, even if he has to go on his knees and beg like a desperate bitch; he will fix things with Ray, he just has to.
Kai quietly closes the door behind him which he managed to open after taking Mya's key without her knowledge; hopefully he will be able to put it back before she notices that it is gone.
Kai looks around and everything looks so neat, and he is not even sure if Ray is here or not, 'No harm in looking around a bit,' he thinks to himself as he heads directly for the long hallway that leads to the bedrooms. Kai heads straight for Ray's bedroom and he takes a deep breath before entering, but to his disappointment, the room is empty, as well as the en suite bathroom.
Kai sighs in defeat and makes his way out of the room to go and look in the next room; however, as he turns to his left side down the hallway, he feels something cold being pressed against the back of his neck, and the definite sound of a gun being cocked is heard, the person getting ready to shoot his brains out.
Kai immediately halts in his steps, but he is not scared, even though he knows that Ray has every right in the world to shoot him right now.
"Hands in the air where I can see them, Hiwatari," Ray says in a very dark and low tone of voice, the Chinese man currently feeling very furious with Kai for having the audacity to just walk into his place like he owns it.
Kai does as he is commanded and he lifts both of his hands up into a surrendering manner but he says nothing; if he wants to salvage what is left of this friendship, it would do him good to just listen and obey Ray's orders.
"Now turn around very slowly, Hiwatari, and if you even try to disarm me, your brains will be the last decoration that these walls will see; got that?"
Kai nods his head once and again does as Ray has commanded and he slowly turns around to face Ray, his hands still up in the surrendering position. He quickly takes in Ray's new appearance the moment he is face to face with his Chinese friend: Ray has his hair gelled up in a mow hawk hairstyle and it seems that he has copper highlights in between which actually suits his eye colour perfectly, and Ray has pierced both of his earlobes and he is currently wearing male diamond earrings, and again, it suits the Chinese man just perfectly.
Ray looks Kai directly in the eye and he is kind of surprised to not see that usual cocky and arrogant attitude coming from Kai; instead, the mob boss looks almost lost while he also looks Ray directly in the eye.
Ray now has the gun pointed right between Kai's eyes and while having the gun in this position with his right hand, he holds out his left hand for Kai, only saying 'key', meaning he wants the key that Kai had used to get into the apartment.
"Mya does not know that I have taken the key," Kai says, hoping that Ray will listen because Mya will without a doubt be pissed if she finds out that he had taken her key and that Ray now has it; he really does not want them to have a fight over a silly key.
"Not my problem, so the key, Kai; NOW," and Ray narrows his eyes in a hateful scowl while suddenly pressing the gun against Kai's head to just show that he is in no mood for games, "And remember, try anything and Mya will be without her precious Kai," Ray saying the words 'precious Kai' in a mocking tone of voice while still looking at Kai with that hateful look in his eyes.
With his left hand, Kai slowly reaches for the pocket of his pants and he pulls out the key and after handing it over to Ray, he again lifts his left hand in the surrendering position, all while still keeping his eyes on Ray.
"Now all of your weapons, and I mean ALL OF THEM, Kai," Ray again demands, but he at least removes the gun from Kai's head but he still keeps it pointed at his head.
Kai shows no expression or emotion while he looks at Ray, and again Ray is surprised because usually this is the time Kai turns very defiant and he shows just why he is the boss and a feared man, but again, there is no defiant look coming from Kai.
"I don't have any weapons with me, Ray," Kai says in a calm manner, the business mogul hoping that his tone of voice will be able to show Ray that he is not here to cause any trouble.
Ray suddenly snorts at that because he suddenly finds it hard to believe that Kai is not carrying any weapons with him, "Do you take me for some kind of imbecile, Kai? Since when does the great Kai Hiwatari not carry weapons with him? Don't make me laugh, Kai; now, your weapons, KAI."
"Ray, please, I don't have any weapons with me; I left them down in the car. You have to believe me; you can undress me if you want, and then you will see that I am telling the truth."
Ray frowns at Kai but he still has his gun pointed at Kai, "Open your jacket so that I can see if you are wearing your gun holster, and do it slowly, Kai; I am not kidding when I mean it that your brains will decorate this wall."
Kai lowers his hands in a slow manner and he opens up his jacket and also his office vest to show that he really is not wearing his usual gun holster, and just to assure Ray even more, Kai bends down and lifts up his pants to show that there are no knives strapped to his calves, and after showing Ray this, he again straightens himself and again puts his hands up in the surrendering manner.
Satisfied that Kai was at least telling the truth, Ray can now ask him what he is doing here, "Why are you here, Kai? As far as I know, we are done."
"I came to talk, Ray."
"I don't have anything to say to you, Kai, so I would appreciate it if you would leave now and never come back."
"You may have nothing to say to me, Ray, but I have a lot to say to you; please, just give me a chance."
Ray lifts a surprised eye brow because Kai really is not one to use the word 'please', so maybe he should give Kai a few minutes, but after that, he is done with Kai for good. Ray says nothing while he keeps the gun aimed at Kai, he not 100 % certain on whether he should really trust Kai or not.
"If I lower this gun, will you try to kill me, Kai?"
Kai quickly shakes his from side to side, and this again surprises Ray because Kai just seems so out of character, almost like he has gone soft somewhat, if that is even possible.
Ray sighs and slowly lowers his gun but he is still on full alert; Kai has proven on far too many occasions in the past that he is stealthy and a very deadly killer when someone's guard is down, and Kai cannot be trusted because he will always be a killer; however, against his better judgement, Ray turns around and heads to the kitchen, Kai following him silently and obediently, the business mogul somewhat relieved that Ray is at least giving him a chance to talk which he is really grateful for.
Ray heads for the counter and takes a seat, Kai also taking a seat but across from Ray so that he can look his friend directly in the eye while he talks to him; Ray still has his gun with him but at least it is not pointing at Kai anymore.
"Start talking, Hiwatari; as you can see I am quite busy so keep it short; say what you came here to say and then get out," Ray says coldly while he also looks in a cold manner at Kai, but Kai just shakes it off for now.
Kai takes a deep breath because this really is not something that he does on a daily basis but he really does not want lose Ray, and it will also hurt him more knowing that he is the reason that Mya has lost Ray, "I am sorry, Ray, for what I did to you, and I mean it. If I could turn back time then I would never have tried to kill you."
Ray scoffs, "That is so cliché, Kai, wishing you could turn back time. That line has been used so many times in so many movies, so from which movie did you steal it?" and Ray makes no secret about his true feelings towards Kai right now, but again Kai shakes it off because he knows that he actually deserves it all.
"I am truly sorry for that, Ray; I never would have done something like that you; you know me."
"That is where you are wrong, Kai; I thought I knew you but I was wrong because the Kai I knew would not have tried to kill one of his closest friends. Let me ask you this, Kai: let's say Mikhail did not intervene and you did shoot me through the head, would you still have thought of apologising to me or would you just have gone on with life, guilt free like you always do? Because let's face it, Kai, if you did kill me it would have been impossible to tell me how sorry you are seeing as you have blown my brains out."
Kai does not really know what to say to that because Ray does have a valid point; sure, he still would have felt guilty for killing Ray, but he would not have let his life come to a stop because what's done is done, but he is going to be completely honest with Ray; hopefully that would count for something.
"I would not have stopped living my life, Ray, and yes, I would have felt guilty, but after a while it would have passed and then I would have felt guilt free; is that what you wanted to hear, Ray? Look, you are not dead, Ray; fate had intervened and Mikhail was there to put a stop to my madness, and I got a chance to make things right with you, so please allow me that chance. I feel horrible for what I did to you even though you think I am incapable of feeling anything, but I do have feelings and I do have a heart, Ray, and right now it is shattered because of what I had done to you."
"This is not something that I can just overlook, Kai, no matter how much I want to. I know why you lost it, I am partly to blame for it; in fact, it is my own fault for confronting you like that, but I always thought that you would be able to stay in control if it was one of us, but you have shown that you can't stay in control and I just don't feel safe around you anymore, Kai, and that is the truth. Who is to say that next time I won't be so lucky, and you really do put a bullet in my head, then what, Kai?"
Ray's words are hitting hard but Kai knows that this is exactly what he needs to hear, "I will go for therapy if it is needed, Ray; I will do anything. I don't want to lose our friendship, Ray."
Again Ray snorts at this while he rolls his eyes at Kai, "It is a little bit too late for that, Kai, and all thanks to you. You have caused irreparable damage, Kai, and I doubt that we will ever be able to go back to the way things were before you tried to put a bullet into my head. As far as I am concerned our friendship ended the moment you decided to hurt Mya. You two may be together now, but the damage has been done."
Usually Kai should have started to lose his temper by now or there should have been definite signs that he was struggling to control himself, but Ray cannot pick up on anything; it is like this isn't even the same Kai Hiwatari sitting in front of him, almost like this is some type of clone that actually has a heart and empathy, and that is something Ray never would have pictured in a thousand years that Kai would have: empathy for another human being, and yet here he is, the all mighty Kai Hiwatari trying all that he can to apologise and to show that he truly is sorry what he had done.
'What has love done to you, Kai?' Ray thinks to himself while he looks into Kai's eyes, and not only do they look sad but also tired? 'What is really going on with Kai? Can it really be just his guilty consciousness that is eating him up from the inside or is there something else in play here? Is he finally able to feel remorse for all that he has done in the past, but if that is the case, then he would not be the fearless mob boss that he is and then The Chernyy Feniks would for surely suffer, so I do hope that whatever Kai is currently going through is just some phase, and that love has not entirely caused him to turn into some sissy boy.'
"What is it going to take for you to realise that I am truly sorry for what I did to you, Ray, that I truly regret everything that I did that night, not only to you but also to Mya?"
Ray sighs while he shakes his head from side to side, "I don't know, Kai; my mind is made up about me leaving this place. I just don't see any reason why I should continue to stay in this city where everything will remind me of you, of what we had and what had happened to destroy it all; it just hurts too much."
"You are not the only one hurting, Ray, that I can assure you; this is also breaking Mya. She has lost her best friend, and it is all my fault, and that is why I am trying to apologise to you, Ray; not just for me, but also for Mya, so please, if you don't want to stay for me, at least do it for Mya."
Ray steps away from the counter and leaves his gun there, Kai immediately noticing this but he is not even going to point this out because at least it looks like Ray has lowered his guard somewhat, and he is going to take full advantage of that.
"You don't have to say anything right now, Ray, but please think about it; think about Mya and what this will mean to her if you decide to stay and come back to The Chernyy Feniks. If you want, then we won't even have to talk or meet, and we can strictly work through other people."
Ray suddenly gives a light hearted chuckle and this immediately causes Kai to relax somewhat because at least Ray is loosening up in his company, so that means that things can only get better from here on.
"You really are desperate in showing that you really do feel remorse for what you have done, Kai."
"I am desperate, Ray, really desperate," Kai also says with a hint of humour in his voice, but that abruptly disappears when Ray speaks once more.
"Just too bad that it means nothing to me, Kai; your attempts, your words...it has no meaning to me. Now, if you would be so kind as to leave my place because I still have a lot of packing to do."
Kai can feel how everything within him shatters because he was so certain that he was getting somewhere with Ray, only to be deeply disappointed in the end, and it breaks his heart because both Mya and he has lost Ray for good, and it is all his fault.
Kai gets up from his seat and he looks at Ray's back while he again speaks, this probably being the last words that he will ever get to say to his Chinese friend, "If I have not thanked you before, Ray, I want to thank you now for bringing Mya into my life; were it not for you, I would not have been this happy, I would not have been able to experience true happiness for the first time in my life, so thank you, my friend," and that is all that Kai says before walking away from the counter and making his way towards the door.
Ray turns to look at Kai's retreating back, he suddenly having one hell of a fight with himself on the inside about what to do really, but before he could get his thoughts in order, he calls Kai just as the business mogul touches the door knob to open the door, "Kai...wait."

"So what are we celebrating, my phoenix?" Mya asks while Kai leads her into the restaurant, both of them dressed semi-formal after Kai had called her earlier this morning to tell her that he has made dinner reservations and that she should wear semi-formal wear, but other than that he did not say anything else.
Kai only smirks at Mya as he lets her take the lead, he following her and the moment the host sees Kai, he hurries over with a great smile while he bows down at Kai and Mya, "Mr Hiwatari, it is no nice to see you again, and my lady; your table is ready and your guest is already waiting for you. If you would please follow me," the host says as he straightens himself up and takes the lead into the luxurious restaurant.
Mya turns to face Kai with a questioning look on her face, "What guest?" she asks in an almost whisper, and again, she receives only a smirk from Kai.
He gently puts his right hand on the small of her back and directs her to walk in, and the immediate aroma of exquisite foods greets their senses, everyone dressed in their best while they enjoy the superb drinks and foods that money can buy.
Mya continues to follow the host until he stops at a table that is located at the other end of the dining hall, and all that Mya can see is that a man with black hair and copper highlights and a mow hawk hairstyle is sitting with his back faced towards them, she having no idea who this man is. However, when the host pulls Mya's chair out from underneath the table, her seat being located directly opposite their 'guest', Mya gasps when she looks directly into Ray's sparkling eyes, she suddenly unable to find her words.
Kai sees her reaction and he just smirks while he takes the seat between Ray and Mya's places, he acting like nothing is out of the ordinary. Ray too smirks while he looks at Mya's shocked reaction, "Close your mouth, Mya; you resemble a drunk fish," Ray says in a laughing manner, and before he can say anything else, Mya lunges at him and pulls him into a tight hug which Ray gladly returns in the exact same tight manner.
Kai cannot even begin to describe how happy he is feeling on the inside because of what is currently happening; not only is Ray and himself friends again, but Ray has agreed to resume his responsibilities within The Chernyy Feniks, and also, Mya has her Chinese partner in crime back, and this is what calls for celebration.
Mya finally releases her hold on Ray and takes a seat, she suddenly looking between Kai and Ray and both men can see how the tears are forming within Mya's eyes, "You two have no idea what it means to me to see you both here with me right now. Overwhelming does not even come close to describe what I am currently feeling this very second. How did this happen, and when did this happen?" Mya asks while still looking between the two men while she takes hands with them both just to relish some more in this wonderful moment that is currently taking place.
Ray and Kai look at each other and Ray smirks his usual warm smirk at Kai, "You have your boyfriend to thank for that, Mya; this guy sure knows how to nag when the moment calls for it," the humour evident within Ray's voice as he turns his focus back on to Mya.
Mya looks at Kai while he looks at her, and Ray can clearly see the love within both pairs of eyes, and now he knows that Kai will never harm Mya; eyes do not lie. 'To think I almost missed out on this, but now I am glad that Kai came to my place, and that I was finally able to come to my senses; life just would not have been worth living if I had really left Moscow, much less The Chernyy Feniks. This is where I belong, with Kai, with Mya and with all of my crime buddies.'
"I could not allow Ray to leave, and I knew that I had to do everything within my power to apologise to Ray for what I had done to him. We need him, Mi Amor, and that is why I had swallowed all of my pride and begged for his forgiveness, but it was not easy," Kai saying this as he turns his head towards Ray with that arrogant smirk of his, "He made sure I worked for that forgiveness."
"Which is only fair, my phoenix," Mya says while she smiles at both her boyfriend and friend, the woman's heart suddenly feeling like it can jump from her chest and straight onto the table where it just wants to do all types of dances from sheer happiness.
Not only is she in love with a wonderful man, but she gets to share this happiness with her partner in crime, and she almost did lose him forever, and it still would have been her fault, even though Kai was the one who had tried to kill him; she was the main catalyst in this disaster and she will also try and fix whatever needs to be fixed between Kai and Ray, even if they look all friendly happy right now. Mya knows that all is not 100% between these two because it is not everyday your friend of so many years tries to kill you, so whatever still needs to be fixed between these two men, she will try everything she can.
For now she is simply over the moon that all three of them are sitting around the same table, something she did not see happening again after her last visit to Ray, and she was convinced that Ray was not only done with Kai and the mob, but also with her, and it really felt like a loving relationship coming to an end, and it had hurt like hell, but all of that is in the past right now.
Mya squeezes both Kai and Ray's hands as she again looks between the two men, they smiling back at her, "This really does call for some celebration, my phoenix, and thank you for swallowing your pride to try and get Ray back; it means so much to me."
Kai also squeezes Mya's hand back while he smiles softly at her, "We both need him in our lives, Mi Amor, and if it meant swallowing the Hiwatari pride for a while, then I was more than happy to do it, and now we are both reaping the fruits of that sacrifice."
Ray keeps his eyes on the two, and he can clearly see that these two only have eyes for one another, and he has never ever seen Kai look at a woman like this; there is no sign of that lust or desire to take her to bed; his eyes are only filled with love, adoration and happiness, and it is all directed towards Mya. Now Ray fully gets why Kai had acted that way that night; yes, he did explain how angry he was at Mya for what had happened between her and Mikhail, and that he was completely out of line for wanting to punish her, but Kai also admitted to Ray that it had hurt like hell knowing that Mikhail was with his Mya, and that after he was ready to confess his feelings to her that night.
Ray knew that Kai's strong emotions was the main reason why he had acted so out of control, but now he gets it all, and he actually feels somewhat guilty for having put Kai through more emotional turmoil by leaving the mob, but as Kai had said, it is all in the past now. Ray knows that things between Kai and himself are not as they were in the past, but he knows over time they will be back to their old selves, to the way things were before Kai had tried to kill him.
"All I want to say to you two is that it was about time for you to get together; that constant dancing around each other were driving all of us crazy because we all could see how in love you are with each other, but it was also clear how completely oblivious you two were about it, and that after both of you are such intelligent people, but yeah, I am happy that you two are finally together."
Ray lifts his champagne glass, the bubbly liquid having been poured into the glasses while the three were talking, and Kai and Mya follows suit after Mya releases her hold on Ray's hand, she waiting for whatever Ray wants to say.
"I would like to make a toast to you two: I wish nothing but the best for you two, and I know that it is still early days in your relationship, but I wish with all my heart that you two grow stronger and closer each and every day, and that the love between the two of you also grows stronger until it knows no end because you two deserve it, especially you, Kai, who has never had a relationship in your life, so may you enjoy each and every step and adventure with Mya from here on; Mya, may you also be as happy as a woman deserves that is in love, and may you discover not only yourself, but Kai as well, as you two continue to embark on this loving journey. Love will always remain a beautiful thing, and you two are a perfect example of that love. To Kai and Mya," and then the three glasses are clinked, before they each take a sip from their glasses.
"Thank you so much, Ray; that was so beautiful, and again, thank you so much for being here with us. I know that Kai and I will be as happy as we can be, and yes, it may have taken some time but the best things are after all worth waiting for."
"Amen to that."
"And now, Ray, I must know all about this new look of yours," Mya says while motioning over Ray's appearance with both of her hands, and Ray chuckles before he starts to tell the tale.
The rest of the night is spent laughing, eating and drinking between the three friends, it seeming like they have always been this way with each other, this close, and over time they again will be as close as they were, hopefully in no time soon.

She is lying leisurely on the velvet couch while she watches Kai read through his documents that he has to finish up before they can go and watch a movie in Kai's built in cinema, tonight being their 'date night'.
Mya has her arms behind her head and shoes kicked out with both of her feet resting on the couch, and the sun is completely gone which brings an end to this hectic day, and all that she wants to do now is to unwind while having her boyfriend with her, right by her side.
Kai is trying his best to focus on his work but that is kind of hard because he feels Mya's eyes on him, and it is making him anxious in finishing up his work, but unfortunately he cannot leave it till tomorrow because he has to email it to Nestor after finishing up with it tonight.
After not being able to take it not anymore, Kai sighs and removes his reading glasses and just looks at Mya after resting his back against the backrest of his chair, and Mya just grins up at him.
"What is it, Mi Amor?" Kai asks in a bored tone of voice, but he is still amused because of Mya who is just looking at him.
"I'm bored, Kai, like in wrist slitting bored; when are you done?"
"It would be quicker if you would just stop drooling at me, Mi Amor. Don't you have something to keep yourself busy with while I finish up?"
Now Mya is the one to sigh as she sits up straight, "Nothing; don't you have interesting books in here or something, other than encyclopaedias."
Kai says nothing and gets up and walks towards one of the bookcases where he removes a photo album, which he then gives to Mya after motioning for her to come towards him, "Maybe this will be interesting enough for you; it is an album containing photos of The Chernyy Feniks, stemming from the time when my grandfather had started it to the time I took over. It is not a history lesson but maybe this will keep you interested while I am busy."
Mya smiles and takes the album, and after giving Kai a peck on the cheek, she makes herself comfortable on the couch once more, while Kai does the same behind his desk, and after looking at his girlfriend one last time and smiling to himself, he puts his reading glasses back on and gets back to his work.
Mya is slowly taking in every photo, the early ones showing a very muscular Voltaire, and Mya can see why Kai's grandfather wanted to start a mob; he sure had the intimidating attitude to back it up. The early photos are grey but as time goes on, so does the technology.
Mya turns the page once more and the first photo that greets her eyes is about a young man that almost looks identical to Kai, but Mya is certain that this is his father, and now Mya can see that the good looks run in the Hiwatari blood line, because even Voltaire was a hunk in his days.
Neither of the two knows how much time passes but at least Mya is not bored out of her mind anymore, and Kai can completely focus on his work so that he can finish it and finally have some quality time with his precious Mya.
Mya takes in each and every photo, and she moves slowly through the album which is large and full of photos, but she finally reaches the near end, and that is when a picture of Bryan greets her eyes, and immediately her heart softens upon seeing her ex-lover, the man that she still loves very much. Bryan and Kai have each other's arms around each other while both are smirking sadistically at the camera, and it sure looks sexy.
Mya can only imagine how Kai and Bryan were whenever they were together, and what kind of hell they caused whenever these two friends were in each other's company. Mya is suddenly brought out of her thoughts when Kai unexpectedly sits down next to her, this slightly startling Mya but she smiles at him, Kai smiling back at her before he looks at the photo that she is currently looking at, and just like Mya, his heart also softens upon the sight of Sevastyan.
"You two seem very happy," Mya says softly while she turns her focus back on to the photo and again looks at the faces of both her ex-lover and current lover.
"Yeah, we were; Sevastyan, my brother from another mother, my mentor, my guardian angel, or more like my guardian demon and the craziest son of a bitch I have ever met."
"Ray told me what had happened to him, to both him and his brother, about Brooklyn setting up everyone and in the end killing both Sevastyan and his brother."
Kai says nothing as he gently removes the album from Mya's hold and places it on his lap where he keeps looking at Sevastyan, and Mya takes this as Kai having some kind of trip down memory lane, so she will not interrupt him and she only makes herself comfortable right next to him by sitting as close as possible to him while pulling her legs up on to the couch.
"The loss still hurts like it did that very first day when I got the news that Sevastyan and his brother had been executed because they had betrayed us. I just knew that it was all lies because Sevastyan was a lot of things, but he was not a backstabber, but I was forced to do nothing because I did not have the necessary evidence and I needed someone to take over certain duties, but I vowed to the memory of Sevastyan and Zory that I would have my revenge on Brooklyn when the time is right, and fortunately I did, and right now Brooklyn is dead, but it does not make the pain any less."
Mya can hear the pain within Kai's voice and it breaks her heart knowing that Kai still cares so much about Bryan, while Bryan is under the impression that Kai and Tala had ordered the execution, 'I have to set things right; I have to tell Bryan that it was a ploy on Brooklyn's part and that Kai and Tala never ordered anything, that in fact Kai is still heartbroken over the loss of the two brothers.'
"After the death of Sevastyan and Zory, I just had to get away; I just drove and drove and by the time I stopped, I was somewhere in the mountains, far away from the city and in front of a small abandoned wooden cabin. I ended up staying there for a week and in that week I had built a monument in memory of Sevastyan and Zory, and after I had killed Brooklyn, I drove back there just to say goodbye to them and to finally make peace with their deaths. I still miss them, I still miss Sevastyan everyday and I will always miss him, but at least his memory will be kept alive. That crazy bastard has left one hell of a legacy behind."
Mya can clearly hear the admiration that Kai still has for Sevastyan, and now she is more determined than ever to tell Bryan the truth, and who knows, maybe if Kai finds out that Bryan is still alive, maybe Bryan can come back to the mob, although she will admit that it will be somewhat awkward having her ex and current boyfriend together, so maybe it will not be such a good idea if Bryan comes back, but who is to say he would come back? Bryan did say that after Sergei's death that he was done with the mob world, and that is something he has constantly told her over and over again about how he is done with the world of organised crime.
"Voltaire introduced me to Sevastyan when I was 15, and he was my mentor; he had to teach me all of the ropes of the mob that Voltaire did not have time for, so between those two men I learned all that I could, and it is thanks to them that I am the strong man that I am today. I have so much to owe to Sevastyan; I never even got the chance to thank him properly for what he has done for me all those years," and Kai says the last sentence in a hushed tone of voice, almost like he is starting to choke up.
"Hey," Mya calls Kai softly while she puts her finger under Kai's chin and gently turns his face towards her and when she looks into his eyes, she can see the sadness within his eyes, "The pain reminds us that our loved ones will always be with us, and that we have had the privilege to share our lives with them," Mya speaking from experience because even though she may seem heartless now and in love with her family's murderer, she still misses her family every day.
"And as long as we can live with the pain, function normally with the pain and still be able to enjoy our lives to the fullest while still feeling the pain, our loved ones that we have lost will always be with us."
Kai says nothing and only smiles at her before he leans down and captures her lips in a soft kiss which she gladly accepts, and in no time does the kiss deepen, and before they know it, the photo album is discarded on to the floor and Mya is lying on her back on the couch with Kai on top of her where the two are engaged in a passionate and steamy session of hungered kissing, the memory of Bryan/Sevastyan gone from both of their minds for now.
The longer they kiss, the more clouded Kai's mind becomes with lust and it is evident in his body language with how he starts to move against Mya's body and how his kissing becomes a bit more aggressive which is another clear indication of just how horny he really is right now.

Mya continues to lie on the couch and she watches how Kai goes to work in gathering their clothes, and she can't help but feel horrible about stopping Kai from making love to her, and all because she has not had the balls to go and talk to Bryan yet; because of that, Kai has to suffer, and it is unfair to him.
'I have to go and see Bryan, and it has to be in this week; I can't keep postponing that conversation because Kai is suffering because of it, and it is just not fair to him or to us. Tonight could have been magical but no, that 1% of my heart just had to go and ruin everything, and there is no doubt that Kai wanted to go down on me, something I have already fantasised about so many times, and it could have become a reality, but again, the hesitation and guilt had prevented it from happening, but hopefully not for much longer. And now everyone knows that Kai was only following Vladimir's orders, and that Vladimir is the actual bad guy in this story, not Kai. The full explanation of these 'them' that Vladimir talked about will only be revealed in the very last chapter, but for now all you have to know is that Kai simply followed orders; he was also hurting like Ana was, he just hid his anguish way better than she did; Ana mourned the real murderer of her family without her even knowing it and had hated the wrong guy. Now, does this change your opinion about Kai knowing that he was never the bad guy in the Grekov murders, or is he still a monster who deserves only the worst seeing as he still does unspeakable things?
