Chapter 68 Stealing from the She-Devil

(Location: air ship hangar Atlas Military Base coast line of Argus northern region of the Anima continent Kingdom of Mistral Remnant)

Weiss stood calm, relax being her usual self. That's because she needed to hear Jaune's plan for over five times. It was crazy, and most of all illegal. To think she will ever go to such lengths to return to her home. Let's go and steal an Atlas air ship, great idea. She could imagine Winter getting so angry at her. Not like they had a choice. The group needed to go to Atlas as soon as possible. They needed to talk to Ironwood and staying here wasn't going to help. Cordovin wasn't willing to help them. But she was willing to help her. After calling her last night she agreed that she will allow her for a one way trip to Atlas. But only to her and no one else. She agreed since it was part of the plan that she will go alone, sort of. The white haired girl hasn't forgotten if this plan goes wrong they will be in big trouble. Like getting arrest and being thrown to a cell for who knows how long.

She could see a headline on the newspaper former heiress of the SDC incarcerated for stealing Atlas Military property. Her father will be so happy to know. But so far, so good. The start of the plan was doing good. Cordovin didn't looked suspicious in the slightest as she was giving one of her boring speeches of how proud she is to serve in the greatest kingdom of Remnant, bla bla bla. Next to Weiss was Saphron with Adrian. The old hag allowed the older Arc to come along because she's a citizen of Argus. And she didn't had a problem with having her say goodbye to the Schnee. Truly, the older woman was arrogant and proud to the core. With her were the twin soldiers who also weren't suspecting anything. Following their superior like a loyal dog follows his master. The white haired girl was hoping in her head this plan works. The sooner this is done, the better.

The luggage, yes the luggage she was currently dragging. Good thing it has a wheel carry out feature. Otherwise, it will be too heavy for her to pick up. The contents are supposed to be treated with delicacy and it wasn't dust. Okay, maybe a few vials of it. But there was something important inside that no one couldn't know or she will be screw. And she kept a calm demeanor like nothing was wrong. The former heiress wanted to check up on her scroll, not yet. Not until she has boarded and left the base. The plan will officially begin the second she was in along with her special package. The others were already in position. Once she has taken control of the ship it will be up to them to succeed in this crazy plan. Weiss couldn't forget she was doing this to return to Atlas. The same place she wanted to go back. Why couldn't it be Vacuo or return to Vale. At least the view of the beach was nice and the seagulls. They don't have those on Solitus.

"I was relieved to hear that you came to your senses, Miss Schnee. Many of us were devastated when we heard you would be attending Beacon Academy. Knowing that you will be returning to Atlas just warms my old heart." Cordovin was still running her mouth.

"Yay" Weiss was being so sarcastic keeping up with her front" it was time to get my act together and go back to my roots."

That took her a lot of courage to say without getting angered or disgusted. Being her father's lap dog just like her brother wasn't in her best interest. She never thought she will be so glad Jacquess relieved her of the heiress title. Still, she misses her mother. Willow has had it rough for a long time. Always relying on drinking to drown her sorrows. She was probably a worse drinker than Qrow. The white haired girl felt angry with herself. She hasn't seen the woman since she returned to Atlas when she was brought from Vale. Because she was hardly available not staying in spot of the manor. At least one good thing will come out from this trip back to her home. Having a long talk with her.

"Oh I can't wait to see you following in your sister's footsteps" resumed the old hag.

"Absolutely" she had to force a smile" remember the plan."

"I'm sending two of my best guards to personally escort you" even when she was being kind Cordovin was so prideful and arrogant.

Weiss took a quick glance at the twin soldiers. Seriously, these two are considered her best. Of that was the case, she didn't wanted to know what are her worse. Talking to this woman was starting to give her a headache. No wonder Maria can't stand her, or Velvet.

"Make sure General Ironwood hears that part."

The former heiress wanted to smack her face. Her ego was probably as big as her father's. Tell the General about her" good deed" so she can get promoted or keep her reputation as an old hag with a stick up her ass. At least the bad part was over now that she leaving. The air ship was right before her, she just needed to get her luggage before boarding.

"Allow me to assist you with your bag" said one of the twins.

Weiss wanted to argued but the man already took a hold of it.

"My, what a heavy bag!"

"Be careful with it. It is very fragile. There are many valuable dust vials in it" she was hoping they don't find out.

"On second thought. That's all right."

"Nonsense!"

"Allow me to assist as well!" said the other soldier.

"I can take care of it myself, thank you" the white haired girl was gazing at Saphron.

The older Arc knew it was her cue as she saw that Cordovin was gazing back with some slight suspicion.

"Just like we practiced" she smiled at Adrian.

The infant has suddenly gave a loud cry as it was a sonic wave that heard through the entire hangar.

"Oh no! Look at that, he's just going to miss you so much! You should hurry out of here."

"A crying child?" said one of the twins.

"We must console it!" they replied in unison letting go of the luggage.

This was her chance. Weiss took the luggage boarding the ship now that the dumb twins were being busy trying to console Adrian. And failing big time at it too. Cordovin has already left, so she was in the clear.

"That was close."

*Is everything all right?* Velvet's voice sounded from the white haired girl's right ear.

"Call me heavy. It's all muscle! I'll show them a thing or two about heavy" Maria's voice was coming from inside the luggage.

"We're on board" she replied from her blue tooth feature connected to the device.

"We'll watch our scrolls. The second Weiss is out of range of the Comm Tower, that'll mean she's out of range of the radar too" said Ruby.

The group stood far away from the city and the military base. They were all on standby according to the plan. Velvet was trying to remain calm because she couldn't help but had a bad feeling about this. She hated whenever it happens. If everyone plays their part right, then plan will be a success. Laphicet was next to her smiling at her, trying to reassure her. Jaune did the same and he was very confident. Of course he should be, it was his plan after all.

*And that's when Blake steps in. We're almost at the drop off* spoke Yang from her sister's scroll.

"Roger" the red cloak girl smiled always wanting to say the word.

"So far so good, right?" the Arc smiled at everyone.

"So far" muttered the older Crowe.

"Velvet?" spoke her brother.

"I'm fine. Let's just get this over with."

"By the way. You said you also had a plan" said the blond leader.

"I did. But it was better to go with yours because mine, isn't stealthy in the least."

"What was it?" asked the silver eyed girl.

"Break in, attack everyone that gets in the way and steal the ship. That will cause a lot of commotion, people might freak out and that might leave for Grimm to come."

"And get us into a whole lot of trouble with the Atlas Military" added Cardin.

Everyone sweat drooped. Guess old habits die hard. The former therion hasn't forgotten the things she did when she was in her world. So many crazy things and it got worse when she joined the Aifread's crew of the Van Eltia. Good times. Not when it wasn't about her journey for revenge but spending time with the pirates and her companions.

"I guess it's up to Blake now" the former teacher wasn't planning to lose faith in her students then she gazed at her boyfriend.

"What?"

"Your hair, it's getting longer."

"Really?" the Arc touched it not realizing it" heh, guess it's hard to notice when the fate of the world is at stake on this plan. Want me to cut it?"

"No keep it that way. It looks good on you" she smiled.

Jaune nodded while blushing.

Blake was riding on Yang's bike in deep thought. Instead of being focus on doing her part of the plan she was worried about last night. Sienna Khan called her and texted her that Adam was here. It wasn't a surprise if its true. This was something he has been looking forward to ever since she ran away and left the White Fang. It started in Beacon and now he was planning to end it here in Argus. Yet, not a single sign of fear was reflected in her amber eyes. But she should pay attention to her scroll instead. Because Terra Cotta's face was on the device.

*Are you listening?* She didn't sounded happy.

"Yeah, I heard you."

*Let me explain again, just in case. One, the radar box is separated from the rest of the communications equipment. So if you disconnect it properly, it won't take out comms from the rest of the city. Two, this conversation never happened.*

"I have some experience dealing with Atlas security before."

*Never happened* her expression was deadly serious.

"Yikes, guess you better not to screw up or you'll be in trouble" said Yang with a smile.

"We WILL get into trouble including Terra Cotta if it goes wrong."

"Geez, just trying to lighten up."

The cat faunus rolled her eyes at least her partner was acting like her old self again. Being the depressive one was never her. Velvet was right all along. The blond needs time and being with her friends was part of the healing process. PTSD is a serious condition and it might never go away. But it can be treated and the person will eventually get better with time. The bike stopped as they were in a pine forest. The communications tower wasn't that far. The raven haired girl got off ready for anything.

"You sure I shouldn't come?"

"It's better if I go alone. Can't afford to catch any attention, knowing you."

"That's a low blow, hurting my feelings like that."

"It's true. Besides, this is something I must do" she paused for a moment" don't wait on me."

"Wha…?"

"Get back to the others. And wait for the ship."

"What are you saying?" the brawler got worried.

"Like I said, don't wait on me. I'll meet up with all of you. With their radar down, they won't know a thing until it's too late."

"Blake, what's wrong?"

"Getting to the communication tower without being seen, it's probably the least of my worries. Let's hope I'm wrong."

Yang called out to her but she was already gone. She was still worried. Her words and expression, it's like she wasn't planning on coming back.

*Heading in on foot* the faunus said from the blonds' scroll.

"Yes, it's all going to plan!" Jaune couldn't helped it but cheered.

He gazed at everyone and remain his composure while Velvet was smiling at him. He might have grown up a bit. But there was still some of that old Jaune in there.

"I mean, roger."

Ren and Nora just rolled their eyes at their friend leader. There was no problem with acting hype with a plan that was coming up together nicely for now. Specially a plan he came up with. Laphicet was still gazing at Velvet who was in deep thought. She was worried, he knew. But since he knows his older sister so well it had nothing to do with the plan. Whether it's a success or not, it has to be the relic of Knowledge. The lamp was still hanging on Ruby's belt. If they can attract Grimm more than actual negative human emotions then Argus was in constant danger. She wanted to leave as soon as possible. That's why she was looking restless. The sooner they leave, they better. She already told him what she and the others went through after they separated at the train. So many Grimm attacked them, the Apathy at the farm. The younger Crowe was glad he didn't met them or he would have been terrified.

Qrow stood quiet and he was feeling better. Velvet's pep talk sure woke some sense into him. This plan was crazy but it was all they can do. He chose to stay so he can help. Whether his semblance decides to screw things up, he will remain here. It was time to stop sulking from some revelation. It wasn't the end, giving up wasn't the answer. Raven may have taken the easy way out, hiding from Salem. But not him, he was a Huntsman. Not a thief or a murderer. Oscar wasn't that far the farm hand seemed calm considering what they were doing. Maybe because he has learned to be brave and face any kind of danger head on. Well, he wasn't alone and he can fight now. Though he still has ways to go the teen can now use his aura. Remembering that Ozpin wanted to give him more freedom. So, he will be doing things more on his own from now on. The farm boy was ready for anything and hoping for the best.

Weiss stood seated in the back of the air ship. Patiently waiting for her chance to act. By now Blake must have arrived at the communications tower. So it won't be long before they will be invisible to their radar. It was almost time to act but first, she needed to wait for everyone's scroll signal to disappeared. Her scroll was next to her watching the long list of her friends. Their signals were still strong until just now. Everyone's signals were now gone. Yep, that was her cue to act making the plan officially started. The former heiress got off since she didn't put own the seat belt and went straight to the cockpit. Taking Myrtenaster she took down the twin soldiers easily. Best guards her butt. She threw them from the ship but not putting a parachute and using a black glyph. One problem out of the way as she closed the door. Maria was already out of the luggage, glad she was finally out of that cramp space.

"And you're sure you can fly this?" the white haired girl still had her doubts as she got seated in the passenger seat.

"Missy, I was the Grimm Reaper!" she got seated on the pilots seat adjusting it to her height" what part of best huntress of her generation don't you understand?"

"Right, but your eyes."

The elderly woman smirked taking a device from the controls putting it on her goggles. It transmitted the data of the flight controls straight to her mechanical eyes.

"You were saying."

"That you said your eyes were in desperate need of repair!"

"Bup, bup, bup" she silent her.

"But-"

"Bup!" she silenced the girl again.

Weiss decided to stay silent and just let her down her thing. She seems to be handing it well. Maria grinned taking control of the ship taking a turn from it's original trajectory. Heading for the rendezvous point where everyone was currently waiting.

Back with the group Ruby was checking her scroll along with Velvet. Soon, Weiss scroll signal dropped. That was it, the place has officially begun. Ensuring Blake has made it to the communication tower and was ready to do her part.

"All right, guys this is it" said the red cloak leader holding her blue tooth" Blake, you're up!"

There was no answer.

"Blake?" repeated the silver eyed girl.

"Are you there?" followed Velvet worried, still no answer.

"I knew this was going to happen" she glared while Laphicet looked at her worried.

"Yang?" Ruby called her sister.

*What's going on?*

The blond brawler stood seated on the ground next to her bike. Her partner's words were still clear in her head. Not to wait for her, to go ahead and join the others. She could tell something was awfully wrong. Why would she do this, not being specific. Just when she thought they have finally patched things up in their relationship. She has had a bad feeling ever since she told her that. The brawler got up facing the direction to the communications tower.

"I don't know" she checked her scroll Blake's signal was still strong.

*Did something happened?* Velvet's voice speaking from Ruby's scroll.

"I…."

*What? Did she said something?*

"She said not to wait for her and that I should regroup with you guys. I don't know why she would-"

*Damn it. Something's not right. Yang go check it out!*

The blond didn't argued as she got on her bike and drove off.

Caroline Cordovin stood in the control room of the base. Her expression was clear one of pride and dedication. Today has been a great day as she has kindly escorted Weiss Schnee back to Atlas. She could imagine her older sister and General Ironwood please with her deed. Maybe she can get a promotion, or an award of recognition. Anything that will make her stand out before any military personnel. Anything for the kingdom of Atlas and her own glory. Though it has been a while since she has set foot on her home. Still she has a responsibility here and she wasn't planning in giving it up. The safety of Argus lies in her hands. Best of all, that witch Calavera won't be going anywhere. Let her stay here, screw her eye check up. Until something is done with the embargo this is how things will be from now on. It was great being her and have this power. Then she heard a beep from a near control console.

"Ma'am, we have something on radar" said one of her men seated on the controls.

"And who will be foolish enough to enter our airspace unannounced?" she approached the man behind the controls.

"Apparently us, ma'am."

Cordovin's eyes narrowed.

*Manta 5-1, this is Argus Base. We see you've circled back. What's your status, over?*

"Why can they see us?" Weiss hide her panic, they shouldn't.

"Somebody dropped the ball" muttered Maria" don't worry, I've worked with Atlas forces before. I know their jargon."

The elderly woman picked up communicator while clearing her throat" Argus Base, this is Manta 5-1. Feel free to gaff off. Though we were going to scrub due to FOD, but we're back up and green across the board, over."

*Manta 5-1 return to base immediately, or you will be treated as a hostile, over.*

"I thought you said you know their jargon!" argued the former heiress.

*Jargon was fine, but our pilots aren't elderly women* the man heard her.

"Huh, well they got me there! My mind really is going! Why would you kids let me fly this thing?"

*Calavera!* Shouted Cordovin very upset* you and those insolent children are up to something, aren't you?*

*You thought you could undermine my authority?*

Maria was making faces mocking the old hag before she took her bag of cashews. Weiss was speechless hasn't she realized that they were in big trouble. The jig was up, they've been discovered, the plan has been ruined. If they get caught, it's game over.

*If you don't return my ship this instant. I will make an example out of you. I will show you the true might of Atlas!*

She started eating her cashews making sure she could hear her crunching on the communicator. The white haired girl sweat dropped while the sight of her chewing with her mouth opened was grotesque. She wasn't taking this seriously. She has no idea how screw they are.

"You hear that, Cordo? That's the sound of me not caring!" she laughed maniacally.

"Ruby, we're in trouble. Cordo's onto us and Maria isn't helping!" she reached to her blue tooth.

*Why is the radar still up?*

"Shit" Velvet cursed out loud not caring if everyone heard her.

This must be her bad feeling at work. Of course something has to go wrong and it has nothing to do with Qrow's semblance. The plan was just too easy to go down smoothly. Something has to happen making it hard for them. Because they can never do things the easy way. Now Cordovin knows, the plan has pretty much gone south and there was still no word from Blake yet. This is the worse case scenario. The older Crowe try to come up with something but she got nothing. What matters right now, she needed to make sure Blake was all right. If she hasn't done her part something must have happened. Let them take her if it means they will let her students go in return. But somehow, she doubted Cordovin will do that. She gazed at her scroll the faunus' signal was lost another bad sign.

"What do we do?" asked Oscar.

"Yang, something happened to Blake, hurry up!"

*On it!*

"We don't have a choice now. We have to keep the ship in one piece until we're out of here" said Jaune.

"That's impossible. They know already it won't be long before they send reinforcements to take it down" said Qrow.

"We're so damn screw" replied Cardin.

"How long it will take them before they get to their position?" asked Nora.

"A matter of minutes" said the Branwen.

"We may not have a choice but to fight them. We need the ship to get to Atlas" said Laphicet.

"This is worse than we thought" said Ren.

"Guess, it goes to plan B which is none" said Ruby.

"Laphi's right."

Everyone turned to Velvet.

"If it comes down to it, we will fight them if we must. We can't forget we have a mission. And that is, to get to Atlas."

Everyone nodded as they all stood in thought.

"I'm sorry Velvet, my plan didn't-"

"Don't be, we did our best. Your plan was well thought. We can't always get lucky."

"Lucky, huh?" said the scythe master.

"You know what I mean. We'll have to do our very best and hope Maria and Weiss get to us before they do."

*Guys?* Spoke Weiss* she's not sending fighters.*

"What could possibly be worse than Atlas fighters?" asked Ruby.

*Is Cordovin piloting that?*

"What is she piloting?" the older Crowe called the white haired girl.

She didn't got a response hearing something loud hitting the ship. But it sounded so close. The group were able to see the air ship not that far heading to their direction. Behind it, was a lot of trouble. Many eyes widened at the sight of a giant mech, way bigger than the Altesian Paladin. The former teacher stood in shock. That's what Cordovin was piloting has she finally lost her freaking mind. What is she thinking. Releasing that thing into the open, hasn't she thought that the people of Argus are going to get worried just looking at it. They might think they are under attack, they will get scared, they will panicked and that will lead to Grimm coming here. Adding the lamp of Knowledge as bonus. This is exactly what she wanted to prevent. Something that will cause a lot of commotion and get all in big trouble. Not just them, but the whole city.

*It's time you asked yourselves, children. Do you truly wish to defy me?*

"Old hag finally lost it" said Cardin.

"This is really bad. What about the people?" said Laphicet worried.

His older sister gave a nod. Clearly Cordovin was willing to go this far to stop them. It would have been enough if she just send some of her fighters. But no, she has to make a big fuss out of it. Mostly, because of her grudge with Maria along with her damn ego and pride.

"Hurry back Weiss" called the silver eyed leader" I need you on the ground if we're gonna take this thing down."

"The longer this goes on, the higher the chances Grimm will be coming" thought the former therion.

*Why is the radar up?*

Blake has put her scroll on silent mode. Though it was futile, he already knows she's here. The raven haired girl stood in one of the platforms of the communication tower. By the time she arrived, it was too late. All the workers have been killed. There were so many bodies and blood everywhere. She couldn't believe Adam would do this just so he could get to her. Clearly the faunus and High Leader's intentions are to take her out. That's why Sienna Khan warned her. If he couldn't let go of the past, then he will go so far to kill her. But there was not a single hint of fear in her amber eyes. She saw this coming this was the perfect chance he was going to strike now that she's alone. The cat faunus kept Gambol Shroud in katana mode, dust rounds won't work or her will use his semblance to absorb them. And she knows how ruthless he can be when he fights. She will have to be more ruthless.

It was strange for Blake to see Adam not wearing his mask. But a black headband to cover both of his eyes, why. The masks has a lot of meaning in the faunus group. Not wearing it is like he wasn't part of the White Fang. But that was just her opinion, it was hard to say. He was alone without any reinforcements so it was obvious this has nothing to do with the group. It was personal. She couldn't get the others involve in this. Specially not Yang. If she sees Adam again, her PTSD might kick in. Not seeing the person responsible for cutting her right arm. It was better to do this herself. And she has prepare herself for this day. To finally put the past behind her and move on from everything.

"It's nice to finally have time to ourselves, don't you think?"

His mind games weren't going to work this time. She knew better than to let him get to her. The faunus kept calm hearing his footsteps so clearly. Weiss we gave her some dust just in case. She was going to need it after all. If this goes to her favor, she might be able to beat him. Adam must have gotten through a lot since the fall of Haven. Mostly, he was angry at her for ruining the White Fang's plans in destroying the school. If he was that upset, maybe his emotions will get the better of him. A clouded mind will lead for him to make many mistakes to a point he will lower his guard and wide open to an attack. But if he wasn't, she knew what to do. The cat faunus came up with this plan just in case she runs into him again. Honestly, she wasn't expecting their meeting to be so soon because it's been almost four weeks since Haven. Better make it count if she wanted to make it their last.

"You stalked me all across Anima. I'm not surprise. You haven't change one bit."

"And you have?" he countered keeping the conversation to locate her position.

"Plenty."

Her comment only made the male faunus to chuckled" is that so? Putting up a tough front isn't going to help Blake. Deep down, you're afraid and you should be. I have waited so long for this moment."

"Give it up, Adam. This is getting old. If you're not planning in moving on I guess I will have to make you. The hard way."

"It's all your fault. You have to come to my life and ruin everything!"

"Playing the victim, is that your new strategy? Pathetic."

"What did you say?" this was enough to get Adam riled up.

"I said, it's pathetic. Look at you, heartbroken because you can't move on from what we used to have. Our relationship was good at first, but you ruined it when you changed. I once told you if you take the path of no return, I will leave. I said that to you the day before we went on that train mission."

"I'll make you regret say those words" he was hiding his grin he was so close to her position.

"You're a mess, I don't even know you anymore. I'm not going to waste time telling you to stop and walk away. Because I know, you're not going to listen. Guess it has to end sometime."

"It will end it right NOW!"

The High Leader has swung his sword right at her but instead he hit a clone. Blake launched a flying kick hitting his face. Using her semblance to elevate herself in the air she started performing a barrage of quick attacks laughing him. An air combo that she kept on going, using close after clone. She finished it up with a kick that hit him on the back of his head as he hit the ground hard. The raven haired girl landed on the ground gracefully like a cat, while her opponent was still on the ground. Even with aura that still hurt.

"You….."

"Did you really thought you had me? Please, I knew you were planning for a cheap shot. That's why I kept on talking so you could find me. I truly pity you."

"Shut up…."

He fired his sword using his rifle sheath but she dodged it using her semblance. Adam fired a barrage of rounds as Blake used her sharp sheath to blocked them. The impact knocked her off balance.

"I have you now!"

He charged picking his sword and going for a stab. Then, he was met by a clone made of ice. The sword right went through, right in the middle of the clone's chest. If she hadn't used her semblance combined with dust, she would gotten killed. Adam growled having a hard time removing the sword from the thick ice. Blake was right next to him and punched him square in the face, followed by a kick strong enough to break the ice clone. She grabbed his hand as she changed Gambol Shroud to sickle mode using one of the cables of the communication tower to slide. She wasn't done yet. Tossing the male faunus right at a tree as she landed gracefully again. His weapon fell off as he was unarmed. Surrounded by pine trees covered in snow the cat faunus kept her composure. Trying to reserve aura, this fight wasn't over yet. Not, by a long shot. In face, she was so sure he was angrier than ever.

The male faunus didn't saw that coming she has gotten better. She was never this good, why he was starting to doubt his skills. Sure, he gave her a few pointers in the past. But, not to the point that she will surpass him. Blake was making him looked like an amateur. Or maybe that wasn't it, his anger was getting the better of him. She was taunting him, daring him to attack her. Using his past failure and their relationship to her advantage. When he got up he was met by the sharp tip of her weapon. Without his weapon, it was over. Amber eyes narrowed holding Gambol Shroud straight at his neck. The fight was over, she won. Instead of feeling dread or fear, Adam laughed. Just when it was looking bad for him he was feeling so confident. If there was a way to turn this whole thing to his favor was uncertain. But, he was certain of one thing. There was no killing intent in his former lover.

"You don't have it in you. Go ahead, finish it. I dare you."

In return Blake punched him again as she went and picked up Wilt and Blush. The High leader had a broken lip, cleaning the blood as he got to his feet. To his shock she has thrown his weapon right towards him. Just what was she thinking. She had this fight won and she was throwing her chance of victory away. Getting too cocky will be her demise. How foolish of her to let him fight. It will be her last mistake.

"Pick it up."

"You're being careless. It will cost you."

"I know. But you want to end this, and so am I. You're not going to stop until I stop you for good."

"You really think you can win this without killing me?"

"I will. It's time you face some justice."

"Then you're more foolish than I thought!"

(Music: "Lionize" from the RWBY volume 6 original soundtrack by Jeff Williams featuring Cassie Lee Williams)

Blake knew she was making a big mistake by letting this fight go on. But it was the only way. Adam has no intentions of listening to reason or giving up. He wasn't going to stop if he followed her all the way from Mistral, he will do the same following her to Atlas unless she solves this. Killing him wasn't in her intentions or she will be no better than him. The end of this battle will finally bring the cat faunus closure with her past. She felt bad for keeping Yang and the others waiting. Or better yet, failing from doing her part of the plan. Because of it the military must know by now and their covered has been blown. It was failure and they won't be getting to Atlas. They were in trouble, but she was in bigger trouble. Regretting her actions, pretty much. As Adam has lunged at her with such speed and ferocity. It's like he has become a wild animal on the loose that needed to destroy everything in its path.

"I'll make you regret giving my weapon back!"

The High leader went with a swift strike releasing his sword. Blake barely had time to dodged it with her semblance. Then, he grabbed her by the neck before slamming her hard on the ground. He pointed his sheath, the rifle tip right at her head. It was insane he was about to fire her at point blank range. By now, he was consumed lost in a blind rage. And yet he was able to fight well. This reminded the cat faunus when he started changing during their days when her father was still ruling the White Fang. She watched fall, taking a path in which it was impossible to turn back. Right now he was acting like a beast with no heart. A being with nothing but pure anger wanting to bring death and pain. Nothing different like a Grimm, they were emotionless and act on pure instinct. His attacks were faster making it harder to avoid or block. Guess it was all working. She thought she had this under control, she was wrong.

How can she just recognize him from the person he used to be. This is why it was up to her to stop him and save him from himself. Both faunus were clashing weapons at fast pace, like they were both in the same level. The male faunus unleashed another attack that avoided by the raven haired girl's semblance. Followed by dodging two shots. Adam took the chance to sheath his sword going for another draw attack. A smart move, he wanted her to use her weapon's gun feature. That way he can absorb the dust rounds with his semblance. But she wasn't going to fall for it, she knew how to beat him. She has figured it out the moment she found out he was here. His tricks and way of fighting she knew them. It was all a matter of memorizing his patterns. He won't be able to do the same with her due to his enraged state of mind. But he can still put up a fight. For a moment they stood crossing weapons trying to overpower the other.

"Let go of the past Adam!"

"Throw away everything we've had just like that?!"

"You have done too many bad things to repair what we've had! Things change, I changed! And so have you. But, only for the worse."

"I let you go once, I will NOT let you go again…."

"I want nothing to do with you! How many times I have to tell you?!"

"If I can't have you back, then NO ONE will!"

They clashed weapons as Adam managed to get the upper hand kicking her to the ground. Sheathing his sword again he went into another draw stance. His body emitting red. Amber eyes widened knowing he was about to use his semblance Moon Slice. Blake didn't know how should he able to do it. She hasn't used her gun feature since the start of the fight. Unless, he has already absorbed enough energy to use it before meeting up with her. Meaning, he's using it as a last resort. Depending on how much he has absorbed will depend the strength and destructive power of the attack. The raven haired girl wasn't taking any chances as she quickly got away. Keeping a safe distance is the best way to avoid Moon Slice. Since it's more fitted as a short range attack. The High Leader released it destroying so many trees in a single strike. She made the right call in staying away. Those that have never fought him would have gotten killed.

Blake thought she was safe. Taking a far distance will be enough time to catch her breath. She believed she was far enough so Adam wouldn't be able to spot her, and she was wrong. Wilt came flying straight at her not giving her time to dodge. The handle of the sword hit her stomach making her fall to her knees from the pain. The cat faunus heard the footsteps coming closer. So he was able to catch up to her sooner than she thought. Even filled with so much anger, the male faunus can still think with a cool head. Did she underestimated him, or maybe he has seen through her plan. The raven haired girl wasn't backing down nor she was throwing the towel. She can still beat him if she sees that opening. Her intentions were to hurt him enough to knock him out. After that the Atlas military can take it from here. Since they will be coming after her and her friends too.

A kick at her face made her fall to the ground as Adam put his foot on her stomach. With his other foot he pressed on the stab wound he gave her at Beacon. Hitting her where it hurts the most, a dirty trick but effective. The High Leader had both of his weapon facing the amber eyed girl. Ready to stab or shoot her or maybe both.

"You did this to me. It's fair that I do something about it."

"You did this to yourself" she glared.

He didn't replied as he was about to finish her. Blake used her semblance with some dust creating a fire clone that hit the male faunus, he had to put out the fire as it was burning through his attire. The cat faunus took the chance to get away transforming Gambol Shroud to sickle mode throwing it to one of the pine trees. She needed to regroup and reform her strategy doubting she'll be able to last another round. It was probably the same with him specially after using his semblance once. She remembered he once told her that using Moon Slice takes a lot of his aura. The more energy he absorbs the more aura he will have to use to unleash it. That was the only setback of the attack and a weakness. So, that will be her new strategy to defeat him force him to use his semblance until he was out of aura and vulnerable. The raven haired girl was panting changing her weapon to gun mode. This was probably the one fight she will have to push herself to her limit.

"You said you were done running away!" he snapped as he succeeded putting the fire out from his clothes.

"I'm still here."

"Not for long."

The group watched in shock as the giant mech was heading right towards them. More like it was following the air ship Weiss and Maria stole. It wasn't suppose to go like this but things always have to take a turn for the worse when it comes to them. Velvet was worried about Blake. Something must have happened to the raven haired girl if she was unable to do her part which, it was the most crucial from the plan. Disabling a control panel from the communication tower that will deactivate the Atlas military's radar. That way, they will be able to escape with the ship without them knowing. Cordovin will only know that her trusty men have taken the former heiress to her home. Not anymore, it all went downhill shortly. Cordo has realized they have stole one of her ships and she volunteered to go after them herself. Piloting a freaking giant robot that brought a lot of attention.

It made the older Crowe angry how Cordo was handling this. Instead of doing things by the book, she has to let her pride get the better of her. You don't use a giant robot to apprehend one single air ship. She was suppose to send her fighters to handle the situation. No doubt the people of the city saw the mechanical thing leaving the base and the sight was enough to worry them. And they will start questioning things and they will start panicking, and that will leave for matters to get even worse. No turning back now, they didn't had a choice but to fight the mech. Cordo wasn't going to let them go and she wasn't going to listen to reason either. They've been forced in a corner and they needed to act. The former therion already told her former students the strategy to fight this thing. Neither of them were nervous, they were pretty normal to fight it. Compare to all the Grimm they have fought. This shouldn't be too hard. Soon, Ruby contact Weiss telling her partner the plan.

*You're joking, right? You want us to fight this thing?*

"We've fought giant monsters before. This is just a tiny old lady. With one very big robot" said the red cloak leader.

"Just keep the ship safe from getting hit. We still need it to get to Atlas" said Velvet.

*You little spider-roaches thought you could creep your way to Atlas?* Said the old hag.

"That was the plan" sweat dropped Laphicet.

*Well, let's see how your resolve holds out. Against the might of the Altesian Military.*

The mech readied it's arm cannon as it's release a part firing a missile. They were heading straight at the air ship but it was got destroyed before it could get close. Cordovin noticed the source was fire from somewhere near. Gazing at the corner, in a ledge of the snowy forest. She glared seeing the rest of the criminals. Velvet smiled proud of Ruby. She destroyed the missile using the scope of her rifle feature. Also they have gotten her attention. Now she will be focusing on them instead of the ship. That was part of the older Crowe's plan.

*So be it.*

The mech's large cannon changed direction pointing at the group. The air ship made a quick at them as Weiss emerged landing on the ground. She used a combination of earth and ice dust, creating a wall that took the coming fire. It was a close one but they were safe. They heard the heavy footsteps of the mech coming at them. It was planning on fighting them after all. It didn't matter how intimidating it looks, or the size. It wasn't unbeatable. That was one thing they have learn about the mechanical units of Atlas. They weren't that strong. Many of them were destroyed at the Fall of Beacon by Grimm. Even the most powerful army in Remnant has a flaw and it can be beaten in sheer numbers. In this case, the group have a plan and teamwork. Jaune made a valid obseration about the giant mech. It wasn't meant to take on smaller enemies but rather giant Grimm that will come from the sea. Velvet smiled at her boyfriend being clever as usual.

"Remember, find a weak spot and exploit it" reminded the former teacher.

"We'll give her more targets to focus on. Me, Ren, Nora and Cardin will get her attention" said Jaune.

"The rest of us will focus on finding that weak spot" the silver eyed girl nodded.

"Maria" started Velvet.

*I know I won't let them harm the ship. They can take my driver's license for all I care for. You have my word, they won't take this ship.*

"Very reassuring" said Ren.

"I'll be more useful if I go with her. From up high I can help more finding that weakness" said Oscar.

"Well, he's not the only one who can grab a bird's eyes view" said Qrow.

The older Crowe nodded with a smile, it was perfect. She couldn't have planned it better herself. Having two allies in the air will help so much to provide information in finding a weak point on the giant mech. She already knew it was more effective to attack it with lightning artes, her brother will help in that since she lack in that department. If they put a stop to Cordovin chances are high she will call on her forces next. But she was hoping they would left Argus by the time they arrive. The plan was set, they were ready, they knew what to do. One team will play as decoy to get the old man's attention, and the other will attack while trying to look for a weak spot with two keeping their eyes in the air. It was still further from their location, they needed to make it come closer so they can attack it better.

Cordovin stood patiently in her mech. None of them have made a move since they blocked that last blast. Just what were they planning. Whatever it is, they don't stand a chance. Atlas was might, justice, pure power. This machine will be their downfall. Thinking they can get away with stealing property of the Atlas Military and then fly to said kingdom like it was nothing. Not on her watch. She would rather be dead than let that happen. If they escape it will be a failure that will ruin her reputation and the morale of her men. Not to mention what threat they will pose to Ironwood. Her eyes narrowed, finally they were moving. Four of them were running left. The air ship flew off in the opposite direction and something colored red with rose petals at the end flew right up. Ruby emerged as she fired the dust round hitting the front glass where she was standing, creating a crack.

The mech was suddenly hit by grenades as it was Nora while Ren was firing Storm Flower. Cardin and Jaune since their didn't had a long range feature they could only wave at the old woman. Maybe that way they can get a rise out of her. And it was sure working as Cordo was so angry, she readied the arm cannon again about to fire another blast. Ruby, Weiss, Velvet and Laphicet jumped down as the former heiress used ice dust to freeze the water, creating a huge slide. They were all sliding as the red cloak leader used her semblance to send the younger Crowe into one of the mech's long arms. It shocked the teen it was the first time he traveled by using the reaper's semblance. It felt weird but he ignored it concentrating on his task. The hag hasn't noticed him yet as he took his chance to cast an arte. The others were doing their job distracting her as he finished his casting.

"Thunder Blade!"

The giant sword pierced the mechanical giant as it was struck by lightning. The teen was retrieved by the silver eyed petite with her semblance again. The mech stood paralyze as it looked like it was malfunctioning. Velvet knew lightning will do the trick. Qrow landed on the back of the mech as he changed form attacking it while Weiss, Ruby and the older Crowe were attacking the legs from afar. If this continue, they will have this fight won. When the arte vanished and the lightning stopped, the battle robot stood still. Was it over already, they were hoping so. Then, the machine was covered by something colored light blue.

"A shield?" Ruby was shocked.

"From bad to worse" followed Weiss.

"I was so sure that arte will do the trick" followed Laphicet.

"Me too" Velvet wasn't happy because now they will have to find a way to get rid of that shield.

*Did you really think it was going to be that easy? It is the great Kingdom of Atlas that created the high technology of force fields. Looks like you could all need a lecture in history.*

*Now what?* Said Jaune in Ruby's ear piece.

"The plan hasn't change. That thing must have some kind of part that is keeping that shield active" said the former daemon.

"We have to find it and destroy it. Wherever it is" replied Ruby.

"The shield generator must be equip somewhere in it's body" followed the former heiress.

*Guys? Qrow managed to destroy some sort of lid on it's back. It's the shield generator* said Oscar from the air ship.

"That's pretty obvious. In video games the enemy's weak spot is in the back" said the RWBY leader.

"Jaune. You and everyone keep attacking it. We have to make sure Cordo gets close to us so we can attack it together. We'll do our part too" said Velvet.

*Got it!*

*You're all going to regret defying me and the Atlas Military, you thieves.*

The arm canon was charging again as Weiss summoned the Queen Lancer as it was carrying her, her partner and the Crowe siblings barely having room for all four of them. Ruby used her semblance again to teleport the younger Crowe back to the mech with Velvet jumping and Qrow changed next to her. Cordovin fired the blast on the other group back on the ledge. It was hard focusing on so many targets. The woman was being stubborn not admitting that this machine's specialty wasn't to fight small enemies but rather large ones. This weapon was created with the purpose of defending Argus against any powerful giant Grimm that will come from the sea. Many Grimm species prowls the northern waters of Anima, they needed to stay alert for a possible attack. Nora kept on firing her grenades while the mech used it's other arm to try and remove the pests that were on the back. Her controls were almost friend thanks to that lightning attack.

Cordo growled in frustration she will have to get closer and stop the brats that were far away. The others made it to the back where they could see the shield generator with the words highlighted in the same color as the shield. While avoiding the attempts of the old woman trying to get them like someone trying to remove a fly that was flying around it. All of them fired together as the generators was destroyed. The hag saw on her control panel screen that the shield levels dropped completely and glared. It wasn't going well not the way she was hoping for. The mech fired another blast completely missing Jaune and co because the aim mechanism was also fried. It went to the other side of the woods. Velvet didn't like that. The destruction and the sounds will definitely catch the attention of the people. They're probably scared by now. Leading to the worse possible outcome.

(Music end)

"Now!" shouted the Arc.

With the mechanical giant up close the others made their move to attack it. With it's shield down, it was their chance to strike and take it down. Of course they didn't had any intention to let Cordovin get killed. They only wanted to stopped the mech so they can make their escape. They haven't forgotten about Blake, they needed to check on her before leaving. Hopefully, Yang was helping her. On the blonds order everyone attack even Maria firing the air ship's missiles. Everyone attacked together, their sights set on the arm cannon the mech's main weapon. After their assault, Laphicet cast another arte. It should be stronger than his previous that will finally put the mechanical weapon out of commission. The others stepped back as the younger Crowe was aiming at the cannon.

"Divine Saber!"

The powerful lightning arte hit the arm cannon as it disabled. Velvet and Jaune cut in as they performed their level one mystique artes on the arm cannon. The strong force of both artes was enough to destroy it. The mech has lost it's arm Cordovin was so angry hitting the controls to try and make it move. It wasn't responding that was it, the controls were completely fried. The weapon has reached it's limit. The older woman stood in shock, this was the first time their secret weapon has been defeated. Who knows how long it will take them to repair it. The group were all relief, they won.

*You're all in so much trouble! You hear me, I won't let you get to Atlas NEVER!*

"We should go before reinforcements arrive" said Jaune.

"Don't want to cause more trouble than we already have" followed Nora.

*We have a problem.*

The group saw the air ship landing as Oscar got off looking worried. Maria followed giving a sigh. Velvet rubbed her forehead, another problem. Will they ever catch a break.

"The ship's running low on fuel. I don't think it will be enough for the trip to Atlas."

"Damn" Qrow knew this has to be the work of his wretched semblance.

"Come on already. It's not enough the Atlas Military knows we tried to steal an air ship officially making us criminals, destroying the giant mech adding another felony to the list and now this" Cardin was annoyed.

"Let's all try to calm down. We'll think of something" Ruby did her best to stay positive.

"I don't think we can calm down. If there's not enough fuel for the trip what else can we do?" said Weiss.

"Refueling should be the obvious thing to do. But that means, we'll have to return to the base" said the elderly woman.

"That's a big no" replied Ren.

"If we go back, it's over" followed the Valkyrie.

"I wish there was something, a way to….." Oscar paused.

"Why don't we try talking? I know it's impossible for them to listen after what we did but we have to try. What other choice do we have?" said Laphicet.

"There might be a way."

Everyone turned to Velvet who seemed in deep thought. Honestly she didn't wanted it to come to this. She actually had a backup plan, one she didn't wanted to use. For some reason, Jaune had a bad feeling. Something told him he wasn't going to like what she has to say. Maybe it has to do with knowing his girlfriend so well that he will feel this way. It was the same with her younger brother, Laphicet just felt uncomfortable. His sister is probably thinking of something crazy that will affect them. He just knew it.

"It's a long shot but, it might work. At this point we have nothing left to lose."

"What is it?" asked Ruby.

"I'll turn myself in, confess to Cordovin that everything was all my doing and I dragged you with me. I used you to steal the air ship making you victims in this whole thing."

"Forget it" the Arc immediately replied" we're not doing that. It was MY plan in the first place and you all agreed to take part in it. We're all responsible not just you."

"He's right. And what are the chances Cordo will actually believe you? After what we just did I'm sure she will see all of us guilty" said Weiss.

"There's no escaping from this mess. We screw up together and we should face it together" said Cardin.

"That is true, you're ALL GUILTY!"

Everyone saw Cordovin trying to leave the mech she was having some trouble.

"None of you are leaving. The only place you're all going is a nice comfy cell!" she took her scroll calling the base.

"Screw this, it ain't over yet. I'll be damn before rotting in prison. Let's just leave and take the risk if we ran out of fuel" said Maria.

The group stood silent not knowing if they should go for it. What could be worse, spend the rest of their lives in jail or getting killed on a crash. The sound of an engine caught their attention gazing at the source. It was coming from the woods near by. Everyone saw Yang on her bike, the blond brawler seemed like she was panicking.

"Yang, what's wrong?" her sister went to her.

"Where's Blake?" followed Velvet.

"I….." the blond didn't know what to say.

"Did something happened?" asked Jaune.

"Is she okay?" said Nora.

"Let's give her some room to breathe" replied Ren.

"I….I can't…." she teared as her left arm was trembling" she's in trouble and I can't help her."

"What do you mean?" said the red cloak leader.

Yang saw it she managed to arrived at the communication tower. But there was no sign of her partner anywhere so she went to check the area surrounding the tower. She was able to find the cat faunus not that far at a waterfall that forms part of the river of Argus. She was in trouble as she was fighting Adam. The one responsible for cutting her right arm and the reason why she got her PTSD. Cardin saw her expression and behavior and he could tell in an instant what was going on.

"Calm down, just tell us what's going on?" said the older Crowe.

"Blake's in trouble she's fighting…."

"I'll go with her" said the Winchester" while we go help Belladonna see what you guys can do. Do we choose prison or suicide flight?"

Nobody argued as the tall teen got on the bike. Yang was so thankful he chose to come with her. Having someone with the same condition as her will help so much. If she can't help her partner she can rely on the Winchester. Now she was hoping Blake was all right by the time they get there. Without saying another word the bike drove off leaving the others to think what to do next.

"What do you mean you can't come?!" Cordovin was so upset yelling at her scroll" I'm giving you a direct order. I'm need reinforcements right now! I just sent you my coordinates through my scroll. We have some hijackers to arrest!"

The group could barely see the hag's face but it seemed like she was shocked. The sound of an alarm was going off coming from the Atlas base. It didn't sounded good and eventually they found out what was the reason for the alarm. An enemy attack in other words, Grimm. They could see a large creature in the distance slowly heading here. It looked like a combination of a lizard with a dragon. Definitely bigger than the Wyvern that attacked Beacon. They couldn't say anything because they thought it couldn't get any worse than this. But once again, they've been proven wrong. Velvet glared this is exactly what she wanted to avoid from the start. The giant mech being deployed and the fight must have made the citizens to be afraid and now it was too late. Along the giant Grimm there was a swarm of flying types coming from the opposite direction. There were so many Manticores and Sphinx.

"It's Beacon and Haven all over again" the older Crowe was worried.

To be continued

-I feel sorry for Velvet and company. Everything gets worse for them. The plan doesn't work out like they were expecting, the ship doesn't have enough fuel which it's something I decided to add and it will be explain why before the end of the volume, and now Grimm are about to attack Argus. I wouldn't say it's Qrow's fault despite his semblance. More like this is how I want thing to be.

-The mech fight went a little different from canon and I know it might seem I rushed it a bit. But let's be honest the mech wasn't that tough. Considering you have Velvet, Laphicet and Jaune present who are very strong at this point in the story. Also the coming fights are going to be more interested and better than this one.

-The Blake/Adam fight sure went very different. This is exactly how I would have handle it without nerfing both characters. Adam is skilled but so is Blake. I have seen her fights from the Black Trailer all the way to v6 and she's a capable fighter that can go toe to toe with him. But it's not over yet as Yang and Cardin are on the way to help her. Like I said Blake won't be a damsel in distress and Yang is not going to be her knight in shiny armor to rescue her. That crap was horrible and badly executed and it was one of the reasons why v6 became bad. I have different plans for the conclusion of the fight.

-I did follow some canon events in this chapter but the coming ones will be very different. Call it how I see the Battle of Argus should have gone.

-I said I will make the Battle of Argus better than in canon and that's exactly what I'm going to do. If if I did it with Haven I will do it with this one too. Lots of action coming soon.

-Replying to reviews:

*stephanieeiche10- I already see FFVII remake to be game of the year hands down. The battle system is an improved version of FFXV's. It's a whole new FFVII but following the awesome story. I'm so excited too.

*Shadow Joestar- thank you I hope you continue to enjoy this story.

*Melidy2002- depends this one took me almost a week. In general it can take 3 to 4 days. Don't know about resume the chibi parody of the story it's hard to say.

*Saint Saber Fang- you too enjoy the holidays and the new year.

*TheEmeraldMage- I can say from here on it's going to get more interesting and better always happy for the support.

*calderoneric758- I'm pretty sure v7 will end with Neo and Cinder arriving at Atlas. Salem will arrive with her flying gorilla army sometime around v8. I'm more hype for the next volume than this one tbh. And enjoy the holidays and Happy 2020.

*Je'daii1298- you know I was thinking of giving Oscar some development in this chapter but I changed my mind. I will have plenty of time to give him the development he deserves in v7. Ozpin mentioned he wanted to do be more than just a farm hand back in v4 and I want to explore it providing some flashbacks. I think he got inspiration to be a Huntsman from reading some of his books or he saw Huntsmen passing through his farm and he got the inspiration for it. There are many possibilities. I didn't had the time to go over all those details in this chapter. Like I said I will have plenty of time when I get to v7. As for your RWBY/Star Wars crossover with elements of this story go ahead you have my permission.

*CT7567Rules- lol you don't even know Velvet's animal form. But I'm sure you already have an idea of what it is, maybe I gave a hint. You ain't the only one. Yeah I'm hype for RE3 remake I love Jill's model but Carlos they gave him too much hair it looks like a 90's style afro lol. Capcom said it will be more action pack than RE2 remake yes make it even better than it's predecessor. Funny thing is I haven't seen that episode from Fairy Tale yet. And about Velvet's dress I kinda wanted to add it some gloves but not those long sleeve ones.

*Gabriel443- gracias que disfrutes tu tambien y un feliz 2020.

SPOILERS for volume 7 episode 9 titled "above and below"- so many things happened in this episode it was rushed but in a good way. Weiss revealed Jacquess as bastard traitor that he is showing the council members, Ironwood, Winter and Robin his conversation with Watts they all know his alive now. He got arrested serves him right. More riots in Mantle leading to more Grimm, Rose Garden hinted hard so I guess the Lancaster development since v1 is going to be thrown out of the window? Oh well the writing has been horrible since v4. Oh I still ship Lancaster and I don't mind if Jaune ends up with Weiss yeah make it happen RT since you're so bad at developing ships. The best part Neo and Cinder are in Atlas which it's going to affect the progression of this story why? You will find out in the next chapter. Anyway I actually feel bad for Whitley since his bastard father being taken away by the police he's alone and I don't think Willow is enough. I guess from here on the action will begin. I'm starting to think this volume will end with Salem arriving with her flying gorilla army. Boy v8 will be good at least I'm hoping it will be good. I will give the episode a 6/10.

-As always thank you very much for the favs, follows and reviews I really appreciate it.

Next time: Battle of Argus part 1
