Ruby's character short: Special

A six year old girl with short black hair with red tint, silver eyes. Wearing a a red dress with red sandals smiled enjoying a walk through the woods. Next to her stood a young woman with slightly longer black hair, red tint and silver eyes. Wearing a black dress with black boots and a white cape with a hood. Summer smiled at her daughter taking her hand as they took a stroll through the woods. It wasn't always she will get a chance to take some time off and spend it with her family. Tai would either be training Yang or working at Signal. So she would barely spend with time with everyone. She still wasn't going to complain as long as she was with one of the people she would care so much in the world. Ruby was so excited gazing around the woods, being the eager child she is. So sweet and innocent her sister, was a little on the opposite being quite the firecracker.

Also he promised the little silver eyed girl she will take her on a stroll, whenever she will be off. Graduated Huntsmen and Huntresses don't really have a day off but they should take one specially if they've been traveling a lot and doing many missions. Today, Summer was finally free. Taking a break from missions and just lay down and get some rest. But instead of doing that she would prefer to be with her family. They are everything to her and she wouldn't want it any other way. If she ever gets another day off she will be dragging her lover and other daughter. Not caring if he will be busy. The silver eyed woman has her weapon with her just in case. Though, this part of Patch would rarely housed Grimm. Always be prepare for anything, it's the first thing she was taught at Beacon. Ruby started running ahead taking her hand making the woman smiled.

"Easy sweetie, what's the hurry?"

"I can't wait to get there! You said it has a great view!"

"The best view ever. I know you're going to like it."

"Then come on, I want to see it already!"

"Hold on sweetie, just calm down a bit we'll get there no need to hurry" she couldn't helped but chuckled at the girl.

Summer had to take the lead for her daughter's sake. The girl was truly a bouncing ball of energy. The silver eyed Huntress smiled, knowing they were going in the right path almost there. A smile spread their features seeing Ruby's expression as they were ahead. They reached their destination, a cliff with truly the best view of the sky, the sea and the sun. The little girl was in awe as she kept on gazing. The Huntress was still holding her hand. She found out of this place not that long ago. The island of Patch had many beautiful places, if you know where to look. So it wasn't like the White Forest where it was filled with Grimm.

"We're here."

"Wow…."

"Do you like it?"

"I love it! Did dad tell you about this place?"

"Not really. I did some exploring of my own and found it. It's the perfect spot to have a picnic. I'm planning on bringing everyone next time."

"Yeah! I want Yang and dad to see it too!"

The girl got seated on the ground as her mother followed. They stood there gazing at the view for a while. Summer switched her gaze at the girl. She was truly amazing, everyone else is. Taiyang and Yang. But Ruby, she knew she was truly one of a kind. It was this feeling that she's going to become someone important in the future. After all, she inherited the eyes. While it was consider a gift to some, it was also a curse due to the evil that exists in Remnant. And as long as it walks this earth, she knew people like her and her daughter will never be safe. They were in greater danger than other Huntsmen and Huntresses that are constantly risking their lives. She was well aware what she was facing but not the rest of her family. Only his former teammates, the headmaster of Beacon and those that are part of his circle. But it wasn't just her daughter but everyone was in danger.

"I have something for you" the Huntress smiled.

The little girl saw her mother taking a small bag from her belt as she opened it. Revealing a chocolate chip cookie. Ruby's eyes lit up as she took the cookie, savoring it.

"I wasn't going to come empty handed" she kept her smile.

"Your cookies are the best!"

"Don't eat with your mouth full."

"Sorry" she chewed so happy, she can't never get enough of her mother's cookies.

Summer watched her devoured the cookie, then looking back at the view" Ruby sweetie, have you thought what you want to be when you grow up yet?"

"I don't know" she made sure to finished eating the cookie.

"I guess it's too soon to be asking. You're still young" Summer knew many Huntsman that have kids trained them around Ruby's age or younger.

"Maybe I'll become a Huntress. You, dad and uncle Qrow are all Huntsman. And also, I like whenever Yang reads me stories. All those books you bought, I like them. Someday I will grow strong and help people like you. I want to be my own hero like all those fairy tales."

"I see" a smile spread her features guess it was an obvious answer.

"Do you think I can be a Huntress too? Yang keeps telling me she wants to become one too because she wants to travel all over the world."

"Of course I think both of you can become Huntresses. The very best. After all your mothers, father and uncle are members of Team STRQ."

"Yeah, the best team that ever graduated from Beacon!"

"Maybe I should start training her. If she really wants to be a Huntress. At least teach her the basics."

"Do you think uncle Qrow will train me?"

"What about me?" she pretended to sound offended" I'm a Huntress and the leader of Team STRQ."

"I know you're awesome mom. But I like uncle Qrow's weapon it's so cool."

"And my weapon isn't?" she kept her fake offended tone.

"It's cool too but a scythe is better."

"My dual blade Rosa is as good as Qrow's sword/scythe."

"Don't forget it's also a gun!" added the little girl.

"Yes, yes" she rolled her eyes smiling.

"Can I have another cookie?"

"Fine, one more. Just remember you still have to eat your suffer."

"I always eat your cooking."

Summer smiled as the silver eyed girl devoured the second cookie. It was really predictable she would choose to be a Huntress just like Yang. She was a Huntress, so are Taiyang and Qrow along that they're also teachers at Signal Academy. A family of Huntsman, it doesn't sound bad. Her daughter was just like her, good with a kind heart that has a desire to help people and do what's right. That would mean she will face the many dangers of the world. Grimm, outlaws and even her. Silver eyes narrowed thinking of the Grimm Witch Salem. Eventually her daughters will have to fight her too. They will become part of this war that has taken place for so many years. The girl noticed her mother was staring at her so deeply as if she was staring at her very own soul. She didn't know why, it was strange she will look at her like this. The silver eyed Huntress wanted to tell her but she was still too young. Either way, she needed to know the power she possess.

"There's a high chance Salem will come after her when she finds out of her existence."

"Mom?"

Summer has taken her daughter in a big hug as she teared up. It wasn't just her but everyone she cares about are in danger. Ruby was surprised but, happy at the embrace. They stood for a minute before the Huntress broke it, smiling at the girl.

"I love you, no matter how special you are. You're my daughter and family. I know you'll become strong and you will do many great things" she reached to the corner of her face where her eyes are.

"I love you too, mom."

"Let's head back. You must be getting hungry and I'm not giving you another cookie."

This made the silver eyed girl pout because it was true. She was hungry and she wanted more of those delicious cookies. The Huntress took her hand again as they left the cliff heading back to the woods. As they got deeper into the woods, Summer's silver eyes narrowed. They weren't alone, this could be trouble. People wouldn't pass through these parts so she went with her gut that it could be Grimm. Her intuition as a Huntress was kicking in telling her there was danger nearby. She kept calm and made sure her daughter doesn't panic, so it was better not to warn her yet. Not until finding a safe spot for her. Though it was strange for Grimm to be around here. The White Forest was the only area in Patch that is crawling with them. Something told her there were more than one. A silent movement as Summer grabbed Ruby in her arms and pulling her to a bush.

She hushed her to stay quiet as the little girl gave a slow nod.

"Stay here and don't move" she whispered.

Ruby nodded again, thinking they were going to play hide and seek. But her expression said otherwise. She has never seen her this serious before. The silver eyed girl obeyed her mother as she stood on the bush. The Huntress emerged as she has taken her weapon that is strapped on her belt on the back. Her dual blade Rosa was colored silver with a mix of red and white colors. Soft growls caught her attention, definitely Grimm. The sounds were coming from her right, multiple growls. She was right, there are more than one. As long as they don't get close to the bush where her daughter is hiding, she'll be fine. The growls got louder as they were getting closer, many rustles made her readied her weapon. The creatures were shown, a pack of Beowulves eight in total. It's been a while since she has seen so many of the species. It was the common type in Remnant.

Summer charged at the nearest one, slicing it in half, followed by decapitating one. She was too fast for the creatures to keep up. More were sliced in half as she changed Rosa to rifle mode killing the remaining Beowulves. They never stood a chance. A roar made her gasped, she got it wrong. There were nine of them, not eight. The last Beowulf was going to the bush where her daughter was hiding. It must have been attracted by the little girl's fear. No time to reach it even with her weapon in gun mode. Immediately, she used her silver eyes hitting the Grimm as it turned to stone. Shortly, it turned to dust being blow away by the breeze. The Huntress made sure there weren't any more enemies in the area before checking on her daughter.

"Ruby, you okay?"

The little girl nodded, obviously she was scared with the noises she heard. The roars, growls and the fight had her panicked. Summer hugged her holding her tight in her arms.

"It's over, you're safe now."

"What happened?"

"Monsters, Grimm. But your mom showed them they can't mess with me."

"Supermom strikes back!" she smiled.

"That's right. And now Supermom has to take you back home and cook you suffer."

"Yeah, then I can eat more cookies."

The woman rolled her of course, that's what she was looking forward the most. Both resumed their walking.

"Mom?"

"Hm?"

"What was that bright light just now?"

"A hidden talent that makes me special. It makes you special too."

"Okay" she smiled but she obviously didn't had a clue what she meant.

"I'm sorry Ruby. I promise, someday I will tell you the truth."

Ruby opened her eyes as she stood in deep thought. The silver eyed leader stood seated on the Atlas fleet that was still heading for the kingdom after leaving Argus. Everyone was mostly resting after that big fight. Laphicet and Velvet were both asleep, they were that tired. The young reaper noticed her older sister next to her was awake playing a game on her scroll. The brawler noticed she was staring at her before she turned her attention to her.

"What's up sis?"

"I...I remembered something. From long ago, about mom."

Yang got serious, did she had a dream about Summer. But she said she remembered something so it was no dream. The blond stood quiet letting her talk if that's what she wants.

"I was six and we visited the cliff. She brought cookies and we talked. I think she wanted to tell me about the silver eyes. But, she couldn't."

"It's not an easy thing to explain. It's impossible to believe everything we know now. Back then you were still so young. I don't think you would have believe her."

"Yeah I was just a kid. On our way back, Grimm showed, she took them down and she used her silver eyes."

"Are you sure?" the brawler was shocked that's the first time she has heard Summer using her powers with Ruby present.

"She did. I was hiding in a bush with my head held down but, I saw the light of the silver eyes. I asked her what was it and she answered a hidden talent that makes her special, and it makes me special too. That's the best way she could tell me about them. But like you said, I was clueless back then."

"You're still are" Yang smirked as her younger cutely pouted at her, she laughed in return.

"I'm being serious" and she eventually ended up laughing too.

"Glad you remembered more of her. She was the best mom ever" the brawler mentally sighed thinking of her mother, Summer was so much better than her.

"It's okay to remember. Because now, I know how to use the silver eyes. I'm sure she will be proud if she could see me."

"She was always proud of you. Of all of us."

"I know. If she's watching us let's keep making her proud."

"Ditto" Yang smiled, the smirked again" you're still clueless about one thing."

"What?"

"I let you find out on your own."

"Don't be like that, tell me."

"Nah."

"You're so mean" she pouted again.

"Clueless about your feelings for Laphicet. When will she finally realize them?"

End

-I feel like this character short was more Summer than Ruby's. The point of it being that she wanted to tell her daughter about the silver eyes. That was suppose to be first before telling her that their kind have been extinct because of the power they possess.

-Summer's weapon is obviously the same one from my story "The Alternate Path".

-The cliff they visited it's obviously the place where Summer's gravestone is now.

-I believe Summer never got the chance to train Ruby because she was always busy with missions, asides that eventually dying. But it would have been awesome if she was trained by her and the other half trained by Qrow.

-Best VA for Summer will be Michelle Ruff she's a veteran in her fifties but she's truly amazing she has done so many voices both anime and games.

-Coming up it's Laphicet character short which I might upload next week.

-Replying to reviews:

*Sweetdesire2002- this character short is completely different from the one we got for v4. The short only focused on her fighting some Grimm in an attacked village. In this one I focused on Summer and the silver eyes. In the end Ruby remembered that time when her mother wanted to tell her something but she couldn't. A shame she never got the chance to. Your other review, I don't know even if I have thought about it. It's just they have been through so much they barely have time to think of those things. Maybe I will do something about it. Your third review lol not that I don't mind I do have a sparring match with the Crowe siblings. Velvet knows Laphicet has grown very strong since their days at Beacon. She wants to test him how much he can hold his own.

*Dracus6- yes I know and I'm excited for it.

*Jamieoeyes- I understand Samantha's mistake but misinformation is never good. Because I was probably the only one who was looking forward to Nora's background story and now I have to wait for the next volume to find out. As for Cinder I don't see Ruby or Jaune killing her not even Penny. I will still go with Salem will be the one. She will show up offering the lamp of Knowledge and she won't be happy with her past failures. Remember how angry she got with Hazel failing the operation at Haven. Imagine what she will do to Cinder, giving her one relic won't cut it. To me she has become such a boring villain with no purpose. She's been the Fall Maiden for a year or more and Penny was able to hold her ground against her. Someone who recently became a maiden. What does that say about her? That she's weak because she's letting her anger cloud her judgment. She needs to go IMO.

*JustLuck- lol don't worry you have plenty of time now that it's on hiatus for v7.

*Gabriel443- gracias voy a seguir dandole desarollo a Oscar cuando llegue al volumen 7.

-Just want to clear something out. Many fans were angry with the Ace Ops/RWBY fight from ep12. Saying they got nerfed because they got beaten by a bunch of kids. First of all they're not kids, Ruby is almost 17 and the others are 19 so I will say they're young adults who have been through enough not to be consider kids. Second the Ace Ops are strong and experienced but they lack something Team RWBY has. The teamwork and the bond. Harriet said it clearly in ep4 they keep their relationship to a professional level, no friendship or bonding. That was their downfall. RWBY are so close they can fight in sync well enough. This was something to be expected since one of the things v7 showed was the difference between schools (which I'm pretty sure most fans ignored). Atlas Academy train their Huntsmen in a more military way, orders above all, listening to your superior and don't ask questions. Beacon on the contrary only teaches them with the mentality that helping the people comes first above all. Huntsmen and Huntresses are to fight and protect the people. Oobleck mentioned it in v2 I think it was the Mt Glenn episode. There are no morals or orders to follow, but to fight for the people, nothing else. It is their duty and responsibility.

-I just have to lol that many fans are cheering on Salem on v8. They want RWBY to get own and Atlas to fall. With how v7 ended I have a strong feeling that's who it's going to be. The military won't stand a chance against so many Grimm and with Salem present. I just don't see a war taking a whole volume (13 episodes) unless they prolong it. Maybe they will get aid from Vacuo with Team SSSN that will be cool. I would like to see that. Also I would like to see Bumblebee getting queer bait with Sun and Blake getting together. The Lucky Charms fans were pissed Clover got killed what if all this time Bumblebee was nothing but queer baiting to lure in the fans? At this point I can say RT could care less. Remember Barbara said" it's just a cartoon show".

-As always thank you very much for the favs, follows and reviews I really appreciate it.

Next time: Laphicet's character short the gift
