The Peridot Tower's breakfast was swiftly cut-short when Roman, who was on guard watch, whistled and called from below, "Guys, we got something," his voice echoing off the walls.
The group hurried down the spiral staircase. When they arrived, Roman said nothing. He only pointed out in the distance.
Mandy shoved her way through the group and curiously stared at what had caused Roman's alarm. "You can't be serious," Mandy sighed.
Hesitantly tiptoeing toward the tower wearing only a speedo was a skinny young boy barely in his teens with eyebrow-length brown-hair, porcelain skin with anxious navy-blue eyes.
Trey exhaled, "You called us all down here for a kid in his tidy-whities?"
Larrell facepalmed, "Really, Roman? Really?"
Carlito confirmed, "The kid's not a spirit. The kid looks legitly human."
Sasha nodded to Carlito. She then gently sighed and patted Roman on the shoulder, "You did good, Roman."
With no warning, Sasha walked out of the tower, "HEY!" She called to the kid, "What are you doing?"
The young boy winced and turned away to retreat, exposing a wide brown spot in the rear of his speedo.
"Poor kid," Seth chuckled, "He's shit himself."
Carlito rolled his eyes, "Well, let's be all dirtbags and point and laugh," sarcastically shaking his head and walking out of the tower and making his way to the young man.
Larrell nodded, "If it's a trap, Sasha could use some backup. He could be one of Sithis'."
Trey nodded, "Ready, Pikachu?"
"Ka," The mouse nodded and followed it trainer into the street.
As Sasha approached the young man she could hear snickers and laughter in the distance. (What's going on?) She wondered.
The young man hopelessly dropped to his knees, "I'm sorry, I-"
Sasha placed her hands on her hips and looked the young boy over, "What's going on, kid?"
As soon as Sasha asked that question, five preteen young men strode forward from the shadows. All were short and their hair was each a different color.
One with spiky eyebrow-length scarlet hair chuckled, "You couldn't even say 'hello' to a girl. How do you ever expect to-"
Sasha cut him off, "Girl? Learn this quick, punk. I'm The Boss!" She corrected. "And whatever you're doing to this kid, you'd best do it somewhere else."
The young men looked her over. "Of course," Raising their hands in submission and backing away, "We know who you are."
"One of the top ranked trainers in the world."
"We've seen all your battles."
"The one is Brazil."
Sasha glared at the boys, "Then get lost before I feed you to my Gyrados." She threatened.
In that instance, the boys abandoned the naked young man and took off running.
"My Gyrados," Carlito corrected, "right," holding up Faust's pokeball.
Sasha sighed, "It's going to take some getting used to that."
"Right." Carlito agreed.
Sasha turned to attention to the young man in the soiled speedo. "You okay? What was that?"
The young man exhaled, "I was," he struggled. "I-"
Seth gestured to the tower. "There's some fresh clothes upstairs. Wanna bring him inside?"
Sonya crossed her arms and stared at the awakened Goddess Sasha for answers. "So that's what's happening?"
Sasha nodded, "Looks like it." Sasha exhaled, "When Atlantis was sunk, many of people's souls were spared. Like ours, they were reincarnated into physical forms. Now that Atlantis has risen, many of those souls are also returning here one-by-one to the exact place they were when Atlantis sank."
Larrell scratched his head, "Does that mean 'we' were all here when Atlantis was sunk? Was Atlantis the place where the Pharaohs made their last stand against The King of Kings?"
"No." Sasha shook her head. "All of the Pharaoh's weren't here when Atlantis sank. Prince, for example, died in Ethiopia well before Atlantis sank."
Carlito's eyes hardened but he said nothing.
"Prince died?" Moxley gawked. "How?"
Sasha, without an ounce of remorse, revealed, "I killed him."
Everyone in the room stared at Sasha.
"But enough of that," Sasha shook her head as the young man strode out wearing a fresh pair of clothes. "Better now?"
"Thanks," the shy young man bowed, "I'm sorry that I caused you all trouble."
"Why don't you tell us what was going on?" Larrell suggested.
"I'm Joe," The young man introduced, "My friends and I woke up here a few days ago and the Spiritomb guided us to our school and told us we're supposed to wait for our sensei to return." Joe explained. "It wasn't bad at first. We had food but after a while the other kids got bored and wandered out and then they saw a woman in this tower so…they put me up to come to the tower and introduce myself."
Larrell felt like the kid wasn't telling them the entire story, "In your underwear?"
"Well," Joe nervously looked away.
"Chill," Sasha hissed, "It's obvious the kid's being bullied."
Larrell shrugged, "I wasn't trying to be mean."
"No," Sasha flatly rolled her eyes, "You weren't." She then turned her attention back to Joe, "So you're waiting on your sensei. What does your sensei look like?"
Joe shook his head, "The Pokemon never told us what sensei looks like. One of the other kids asked Spiritomb and all it said was, the school will know."
"One of us could possibly be the sensei that those kids are waiting for." Roman suggested, "I tell you what, if I'm the sensei, I'm going to find those other kids and beat their asses like I'm their daddy for bully other kids." Roman sounded like a hardcore badass. And then, he leaned towards Joe, "Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?" He sang.
The entire group stared at him.
"What?" Roman shrugged, "I was just-"
"Being an idiot." Larrell shook his head. "Joe, where is this school? Can you take us there?"
Following Joe, the group walked north. They passed many of the houses that made Roman and the other members of the Shield turn and look at eachother. "That wasn't there before," One would point.
"The island is slowly coming back to what it once was," Sasha explained. "There was a lot of ancient power used by the pokemon to seal Atlantis to prevent its power from falling into the wrong hands."
While they walked, Joe confessed his situation to the group, "They said to me," Joe admitted, "If I can't even say 'hello' to the lady in the tower then how would I ever be able to date a girl like Giselle?"
"Giselle?" The group shrugged, "Who's that?"
Joe fished inside his clothes and held out a photograph of a pretty girl in her teens with long-curly dark-brown hair, brown eyes and porcelain skin.
"Well, she's a cutie," Larrell admitted, "Has a bit of that Selena Gomez-flair to her," he admitted, "Not to be on no R. Kelly shit."
"We get what mean." Seth nodded.
Sasha glanced at the photograph and enviously shook her head, "She's alright."
They walked until they reached a series of interconnected large buildings with a giant hourglass at its crown. Beside them, a pool stood.
"This is it," Joe waved, "This is Pokemon Tech. At least that's what I think it's called."
"Hey," Moxley shook his head, "Not to be a spoilsport but what are we doing here exactly? Are we going to take our belts off and whoop the kids? Put them in timeout? What are we doing?"
"We're seeing if we're the sensei of this school?" Larrell explained.
"Then what?" Moxley questioned. "We just stay here?"
Sasha stared at the group, "This is survival." She explained. "As the island comes back to life, what do you think the island will replenish the most with food? That tower or a school?"
Roman shook his head, "No. We can't do it. I'm not going to steal food from kids."
Sasha stared at Roman, "Who's going to fight Sithis? Them or us?"
Larrell shyly whistled. He'd have to make a decision soon.
Carlito said nothing. He'd also have to make a decision.
How far were they willing to go to win the war?
Sasha looked at the group, "This is war." She snapped, "You little boys figure that out yet." She glared at Trey, "Do you even have heart enough to Zap Cannon each of these kids to make sure they're not spies or am I going to be the only one that has to do what needs to be done?"
Roman shook his head, "There has to be another way."
"There is," Sasha nodded, "Join Sithis or die." Sasha then turned to Joe, "Take us to the others."
The young man gulped and slowly led Sasha to the school.
Seth looked at each man, "What are you gonna do?" He asked looking at Moxley, Roman, Trey, Larrell and Carlito.
As they followed Ezal through the residential area of Peridot Island, Ash was surprised at the sight of a children's park. A wooden swing-set and several ancient toys inside a sandbox gave Ash a strange sense of nostalgia and melancholy.
Ash looked at the man beside him, "So…who are you looking for exactly? Based off what this guy," gesturing to Ezal, "was saying, it's not Sasha, right?"
"Correct." Prince answered. "I'm here for Eva. Then, I'm gone."
Ash smiled, "Hey, before you leave would you have a battle with me?"
Prince curtly shook his head, "No thanks."
"Why not?" Ash gulped. "I need to battle you. I need to prove that my—"
"That your title isn't a fluke because Sasha and I weren't there." Prince rolled his eyes, "What does it matter, kid? You're the champ. You can lose a thousand battles and no one can ever take that away from you. You battled the opponent that was put in front of you and won. That's all that matters. Take your prize money and enjoy it."
Ash exhaled, "It's not about trophies and money. It's about me knowing that I'm the best."
"Then, I'll forfeit." Prince offered. "You want a win over me. I'll forfeit and you can rest easy. I'm not wasting my time battling when I don't have to."
Ash downcast his eyes, "So you really won't battle me?"
"I won't battle anyone unless I have to." Prince explained. "Right now, there's more important things to worry about."
"HERE IT IS!" Ezal cheered as they approached what looked like the rear entrance a series of interconnected large buildings with a giant hourglass at its crown.
Prince nodded, "And here I thought you were bullshitting."
"See," Ezal smiled a toothy-grin, "You can trust me. She's in this here school."
"How do you know that?" Lacey questioned. She then turned to Prince, "Are we really going to trust a drug-addict?"
"Look at where we are." Prince gestured, "Why would he lie to us?"
Everyone thought for a moment.
"That's a good point." Tessa admitted.
The group one-by-one followed Ezal into the school.
The hallways were narrow and made everyone feel larger than they actually were.
"In here," Ezal nodded to a door, "You ready?"
"Move." Prince commanded, shoving Ezal aside and throwing the door open.
Ezal had led them to a giant dark candle-lit auditorium. Pass the rows of chairs, sitting on stage with an open book in her hands surrounded by dozens of children.
It was all Prince desired.
Eva Marie, hear heartbreakingly beautiful face hadn't changed, her signature flaming-red hair had changed. Now, her long locks were fuchsia which reminded Prince of only one other person.
(It doesn't matter.) Prince told himself hurrying through the darkness. He crashed into something, no, someone, in the darkness, knocking them over.
The children curiously turned to the aisle.
Prince looked down in the darkness. In the candlelight, he saw the face a young man with eyebrow-length brown hair. "Sorry, kid." Prince grunted. He then glanced behind the boy and stared at Sasha.
Sasha stared back at Prince.
Ezal hopped between the two, "I never lied, Prince." He noted, "AND," smiling at Sasha, "Mission accomplished, Boss!" He cackled.
