Sketching Tomorrow: A Clannad Fanfiction.

Chapter 63.

"Hiya James." Cassidy said to her old friend but to no response.

Her heart raced like a drum from sheer anxiety, never had she seen James like this even at school when he had gone through severe trauma in his time in the previous months back home.

Of course getting your heartbroken and losing a loved one were two entirely different entities...

She sighed sitting next to him, adjusting her red dressing gown that covered her pyjamas and put her arm around him.

"I'm glad to see you again mate.." she rested her head on his shoulder. "Just wish it could have been under different circumstances..."

James remained motionless, worrying Cassidy to no end.

"Ruth is still a little... Frustrated for lack of a better term, James mate your gonna have to talk with her and sort things out.."

She stood up, proceeding to walk towards the hallway. "I'm gonna grab a bite to eat, I'll do ya a cup of tea..."

Later having taken a shower, having refreshed and changed into a casual green vest and jeans Cassidy walked back into the front-room.

"Ruth is staying in bed-" She said. "So..." She was unsure how to start a conversation. "Done... done any drawing recently?"

There was a knock, it was unexpected causing Cassidy to jump in shock.

Exhaling a faint sigh she went to answer the door.

"Hello-" she replied speaking in what little of the Japanese language she knew.

A girl stood in front of her dressed in a pink, long sleeve shirt and blue jeans.

It was Kotomi but of course Cassidy didn't know this yet...

Kotomi took a step backwards in shock." Oh... Oh sorry-" Her tone of voice emotionless. "I think I've come to the wrong place of residence, do you know the house to which the Fujibayashi family live?"

She did not understand a word Kotomi had said... Except one... Fujibayashi...

She had to think quickly.

"I don't know if you can understand me-" She shouted in a loud, patronising tone of voice. "But this is the Fu-, The Fu-" Cassidy bit her tounge, these names were a pain to pronounce. "The Fujibayashiresidence!" she pronounced the surname to the best of her ability.

Kotomi pouted. "I can speak English." came the response, causing Cassidy's face to go a deep shade of red.

"Shit!" She thought.

"You say this Is the Fujibayashi residence-" Kotomi tilted her head. "But who might you be?"

"Cassidy... Cassidy Rose"

Kotomi's eyes lit up, as though something had clicked. "James-Kun's friend?!" She gasped.

"Yes!" She nodded. "Are you Kotomi?!"

"yes!"

She put her hands onto Cassidy's shoulders much to the aforementioned's astonishment.

"Is he here?!" Kotomi cried. "I need to see my James-kun!"

"Y-yeah-" She Cleared her throat. "He's in the front room-"

Within seconds Kotomi raced inside the house.

"I'll show you inside." Cassidy finished her sentence to no one in particular.

"My gosh she's cute!" She thought to herself.

Closing the front door Cassidy made her way back into the living room and found Kotomi in a fit of tears, hugging her boyfriend.

"Oh James!" She cried. "Please say something!"

Cassidy put her hand on Kotomi's shoulder. "He's been like this all day... He's in a state of shock, I think it's best we leave him be for now."

"B-But I'm his girlfriend!" She sniffled. "I've got to do something!"

"look I know how ya feel but we've just gotta be pacient and wait for him to come out of it."

Kotomi exhaled a deep breath. "OK.." Despite only just meeting her Kotomi felt as though she could trust Cassidy, an aura of warmth and kindness surrounding her.

She stood up, kissing James on the lips and then sat next to Cassidy.

"My Appologizes for my rudeness, my name is Kotomi Inchinose, it is nice to meet you."

"Hey, hey no need to be so formal!" Cassidy laughed. "So your James,'s girlfriend?"

"Yes." Kotomi nodded with a faint blush to her cheeks.

Kotomi then proceeded to tell Cassidy everything about her and James along with their group of friends.

"Oh wow! Cassidy whistled." James sure has been through a lot and he sure knows some interesting characters! "

"What about you? " Kotomi asked." What Is your history with James-Kun?

"We met in high school-" She explained. "we became good friends and we'd all hang out with each other reading comic books or playing video games."

"James-Kun often mentions a friend by the name of Mark?"

"Haha!" Cassidy giggled. "Yeah those two were very close! Lot of people thought they were related!"

"There's also Aaron who's a technical expert, always hacking into gaming systems to see how they worked, even sorted out the school computers!"

"Then there's Ryan who... I guess you could say isn't the brightest banana in the shed.."

"Then there's Tom who's in the year below us, he's obsessed with card games like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!"

"James-Kun's friends sound like a lot of fun!" Kotomi said, her mouth gaped open.

"You know, if our two groups of friends were to meet it'd be insane!" Cassidy smiled.

A moment of silence between the two.. Cassidy paused taking in a lungful of air, her posture slouching somewhat as she gazed at her old friend.

"Did he ever tell you about.." She gave another pause biting her lip. "Did he ever tell you about her?"

"Her?" Kotomi pondered for a moment before realising. "Yes I know to whom you are referring to but I am unaware of the full story."

Cassidy stood up, taking Kotomi's hand. "Come on.. I think we need go for a walk." She raised her finger in the air for a brief moment. "Just a sec!"

She crept towards a door, slowly opening it with a faint creek.

"Ruth I'm just heading out for a bit, I'll return later!" she then shut the door.

"Who is Ruth?" Kotomi tilted her head in confusion.

"Oh that's James sister, ill introduce you later."

"I was unaware James-Kun even had a sister!" Kotomi gasped open mouthed.

"Yeah well I'm sure you'll hit it off." Cassidy said as she opened the front-door. "Be back soon James."

Kotomi paused, stepping back into the front-room to glance once more at her distraught boyfriend. "See you soon James-Kun." She spoke in a somber tone. "I love you."
