Yep; I was now Diana Parker (no I didn't hyphenate!). We chose not to wait. Why? Not to call our marriage a shotgun affair...but it did have divine ramifications if delayed. Hera had given her blessing... The wisdom here was not to question why but just to shut up and be grateful.
It was a small gathering. Just the Avengers that we'd befriended in this reality. Patron Athena hitched us in dad's name. The gods of spiders and truth were now joined at the hip; and in more ways than one. Brother would never be able to do Peter what he'd done before so readily. Now it was different. Peter now shared most completely in my divine essence. That made him more powerful than Ares now in some ways.
After a simple yet profound wedding night (the details are none of your business!)...we went down to the cafeteria in Stark tower to partake of breakfast. "Damn Diana...I can truly feel your power flowing right into me..." "Like a Jedi with the Force, right?" "Hell yeah; but I'd rather have this any day. Besides, I'd rather the force look like you." "I'll take it tiger; or rather spider." He snorted at our lame ass humor. We walked into the cafeteria with our arms wrapped around each other. We got the "how sweet" looks from everyone. We basked in it. We deserved it.
After getting some grub we chilled out at a table. Tony and Pepper came over to join us. "May we?" they asked. Peter scoffed. "It's your tower." Tony scoffed, as though insulted. "Well of course it is kid, but that's not the point though, is it?" "Well...no." "Please join us," I said for us wedded nerds. They did so. "Congrats again," said Pepper with a hug. "Thanks." "So when are you going to become the married Starks?" Tony and Pepper shared a look at my query. Peter was equally curious now. Tony cleared his throat. "We're uh, working on that."
"I can tell you this much; if Peter and I can do it anyone can." "Di's right," said the former human spider. "Look at all the crap we've been through. Look at who my brother in law is... Jesus; did I really just say that?" I put a hand over his. "It's true tiger. Ares will forever be your in law." "Kill me now..." "You're a god now, remember?" He put his head into his hand. "Yeah..."
"Pepper and I were talking...and you can do anything you want here at the company if you want. You've already done so much...for all of us..." It took a lot for Tony to admit that but it was honest. Peter said, "What did you have in mind old man?" "Old man; really?" "Tony," said Pepper. "Keep going..." Tony sighed. "You can join R and D if you want. Being that you're both science nuts and all." "Well, actually, I'm still in training," said Peter; he pointed at me. "The wife here is doing my edu-ma-cation." "Is that so?" "It is. She got her doctorate from Athena herself." Tony frowned at that. "That's...impressive." Peter smiled proudly. "Of course it is; she's Mrs. Parker. Did you expect anything less?"
Everyone just shut up at that and ate breakfast. Peter and I would be grateful for this quiet time most of all. We didn't know what we would consider a honeymoon; if this was in fact it or not. We'd just take that as it went. One thing I knew for sure was that we would do very well together. We'd literally been to hell and back after all.
