We Found Love
136. Oh Daddy
It was strange, Alicia thought as she found herself reflecting on her past. So much was different, and nothing had worked out like she thought it would.
She smiled a little as she snuggled into her warm bed. Her husband spoiled her, and it was something she wouldn't change.
As if cued by her thoughts, Adrian appeared in the doorway with Angela. "Someone wants her mummy," he stated as he crossed over to her side of the bed.
Beaming, Alicia reached out and she took ahold of her daughter. Once Angela was safe in her arms, Adrian took a seat on the foot of the bed.
"You spoil her," Adrian said, his voice soft.
"We both do," Alicia corrected, sending her husband a wide smile.
He laughed in response.
They sat in silence for a few seconds.
"I'll keep her out next time," he promised.
Alicia bit her lip. Her maternity leave was almost up, and she needed to adapt her old schedule – long hours, grueling work, and lots of sweat. While she loved Quidditch and sensation of flying, she didn't want to go back. She wanted to retire from the Holyhead Harpies and focus on her family. Ginny Weasley had earned a position as a main Chaser.
"What if," she began before stopping.
Adrian looked at her with blue eyes, silently waiting for her to continue.
"What if I retired?" Alicia asked, pulling Angela closer.
Adrian's eyes widened. Her dreams of playing professional Quidditch were old, and she had worked so hard to earn her position.
"I want to here with you and Ang," she explained, "and I was offered a position at The Daily Prophet and Quidditch Monthly."
"What about the World Cup?" Adrian asked. That had been Alicia's dream for as long as he had known her.
Alicia remained quiet as she looked down at her sleeping daughter. The Quidditch Cup was next year. "I guess Angelina will have to achieve our dream," she said.
"If that's what you want," Adrian told her. "Think about a little more, just to make sure it's what you really want."
