The two girls walked for as long as they could until Xeni told Kyrie, "No, I can't do it anymore!"

The smaller of the two hoisted her up, telling her, "Yes you can!"

Xeni dropped to the ground and began breathing eraditic. "I… I can't, Kyrie." Her eyes were heavy and she seemed out of breath.

"Yes you can, girl! Come on, get on your feet!"

"I don't… even know… what time it is."

"Come on, Xeni! It's time for you to get up!"

Xeni growled out, but got to her feet with Kyrie's help. The two only walked a little bit longer until Xeni collapsed again. "Go on, get out of here."

Kyrie sighed. "We're both getting out of here, hon!"

Ting…

"Xeni, you have to get up!"

Ting… Ting…

"What is that sound?" Xeni asked aggravatedly.

Kyrie looked around and didn't see anything, but soon, she heard something. It was the voice of the man she had heard before. "You girls have almost made it, but now, you face our best hunter, our most dedicated killer, Jeffery Ives."

Ting…

"He jumped at the opportunity to hunt down someone who was so closely related to a Devil May Cry agent. Prepare yourselves… TO DIE!"

Xeni jumped up, grunting with pain, holding her side, "Not likely! Come on, Kyrie! We're getting out of here!"

Kyrie helped her friend, but that was when the two saw a silhouette of a man slowly approaching. The volunteer nurse took a few steps towards the shadow, whispering out, "Nero?"

It was not Nero though. A man emerged with a fireax in one hand and a handgun in the other. He wore a black, sleeveless trench coat with jeans and a white shirt. He had blak hair with another fireax on his back. The man looked at the two ladies with polar blue eyes, much like Dante's, except they were horizontally shaped, looking like goat eyes. A wicked, evil smile stretched across his face as he slammed the ax on the metal wall, making a ting sound.

"Oh, is that him?" Xeni asked.

"No," Kyrie frightfully said.

Spinning his handgun, the man said in a young, cocky tone, "Allow me to introduce myself, ladies. Jeffery Ives, former assassin, now killing for pleasure, not for money."

"Xeni Sanwood, werewolf. You'd better hope you're packing silver bullets in that thing!"

Kyrie snapped a frightened look at her friend. She wondered why Xeni had lied.

A shot rang out behind her and smoke was already travelling out of Jeffery's gun.

Xeni slid down the wall with a blood trail behind her.

"Xeni!" Kyrie shouted.

A bullet wound was in her shoulder, the one that hadn't been injured… until now. She breathed heavily, groaning out, "Damn it, I need to get out of here!"

Kyrie ran to her side and kept pressure on the wound.

A sly grin came over Jeffery's face as he spun his gun into a holster near his ribs. "If you're a werewolf, you're weaker than you thought. Good, old, lead and brass, .45 hollowpoints."

Kyrie whispered to her, "You shouldn't have told him that!"

Xeni pushed her out of the way and stood up, bent down a little. "I am a werewolf, you'd better get out of here while you can!"

Grabbing the other ax from his back, Jeffery clanged the two together and said, "Well then, let me show you how to play dead." He rushed for the two girls as they took off. The two ran down several different halls before Xeni collapsed and told Kyrie, "Damn it, just leave me! No one is coming to help us. At least you can get out of here and maybe make it till sunup!"

"Nero will find us!"

"I don't even know this Nero, Kyrie! He's your knight, not mine." All the while Xeni was pushing Kyrie away. She refused to run.

Kyrie would not give up on her friend though, and she would not give up on Nero. She pulled on the tall women to move.

"Damn it, he's not coming!" Xeni cursed out. "You have to start relying on yourself, Kyrie! Get out of here! Leave me be."

"No, I won't —"

A shot rang out as Kyrie saw Jeffery Ives heading right for them. She pulled on Xeni's leather clothes, but she didn't move.

"I want to see my brother, Kyrie! I want to be with him!"

"My brother and yours would both be upset if I didn't try to save you, now come on!"

Two more shots rang out as Xeni got to her feet with a curse, and the women were on the move again. They crossed two, metal sections of stairs and headed up higher, running across several metal bridges. Below them seemed to be a large pit of broken glass and metal spikes. One wrong step over the guardrail and they would be cut to pieces.

Kyrie and Xeni both collapsed down behind a big machine as Jeffery was slowly walking their direction with both fireaxes out again.

Both ladies were breathing heavily. Kyrie told Xeni, "I can't carry you anymore!"

"I know, damn it! Just leave me!"

"Will you knock that off! I'm not leaving you anywhere!" Kyrie angrily told her.

"You should. I'm just slowing you down."

Jeffery hit one of axes twice on metal. "Come out, come out wherever you are."

Kyrie slumped down next to Xeni, saying, "Nero, where are you?!"

"Oh god," Xeni cursed out, "Will you knock it off! Nobody is coming!"

Kyrie nearly shouted at her, "Yes he will!" she took a cautious look around the machine, saying, "He always comes for me."

Suddenly, an ax came down between them and Jeffery was right on top of them. Xeni reacted, trying to rake her fingernails across the guy's face, but he just knocked her away and thrust his gun under Kyrie's chin. He grinned sadistically, telling Nero's fiancee, "Hmm, you smell really nice."

Kyrie swallowed hard and said, "Nero will be coming for me."

A low, throaty growl came for Jeffrey, staring at Kyrie with those icy blue, goat-like eyes, telling her, "I'm counting on it."

"You really don't want to meet him!"

Jeffery sat down in front of Kyrie and slammed one of his axes in front of Xeni, who tried to attack him again. He shifted his eyes towards her and said, "Stay back or I will pull this trigger, and then you and I can play with each other."

Xeni scowled. "Sounds like a plan to me!" She grabbed the ax and ran at Jeffery, but he grabbed it and kicked her away, putting two rounds into her lower back. Blood spewed from the wounds as she fell to the ground, leaking the crimson liquid from the wound. Xeni cried out, "Oh god! Oh my god! I'm - I'm coming Boa."

Kyrie yelled out for her friend. "NO!"

Jeffery backhanded her and Kyrie felt like razor wire had been smacked across her cheek. She cried out, "Nero!"

Jeffery grabbed her bottom jaw, yelling at her, "Yes, cry louder, put every effort you can into his name! Here, I'll scream with you! SOMEBODY HELP! COME SAVE YOUR PRECIOUS BITCH, NERO!"

Kyrie began to hold onto her mummy mommy as tight as she could, but then Jeffery took that away from her, too, and threw it to the side. "Get it through your thick skull, mortal! I am the whirlwind of death, the reaper of reverence, the swarm of Hell given flesh! I… am… the devil!"

Kyrie then looked at him, at Xeni, and then to her doll. She then let out a brief chuckle.

"What?!"

Another chuckle from her, forming into a full, loud laugh that escaped her mouth and both Jeffery and Xeni were looking at her like she was mad.

"What is so funny?!" Jeffrey demanded.

Kyrie let out more laughter as she looked into those sideways eyes of his and said, "I've seen all kinds of devils. Big, small, tall, short, skinny, fat, with teeth, with claws, with hair, with scales, above buildings, in microscopes… you are nowhere near any of them, let alone 'thee devil' himself."

Jeffery's head began to shake as he growled, turning into a roar. His anger coming out in one long howl. "You are dead!"

"Kyrie!" A voice called out behind Jeffery. It had urgency and love for her. It was one she recognised all too well.

She tilted her head and saw her knight and smiled. She looked back at Jeffrey and told him, "And now, it doesn't matter."

Xeni looked up and said, "That is one kickass sword!"
