Nero found himself in another room. He frustratedly sighed, "Come on! I'm getting tired of walking in circles here."

No answer…

"Hey, voice, you, eh, want to give me a helping hand here, or something?"

A door opened about ten feet from Nero as he sheathed the Red Queen on his back. "Alright."

He went through the door and when it shut behind him, he held up the Blue Rose. "Yeah heard that coming. Alright, voice guy, what is it this time? Let me guess, guy from a lumberyard was in a tragic accident and now is some kind of killer Paul Bunyan?"

"Nope, although I do believe someone with a chainsaw is making his acquaintance with Kyrie right now."

Nero's eyes narrowed and looked at a door not far from him. "Wrong answer, pal!"

He aimed for the door and shot it right off the hinges. From the darkness beyond came three, small people in colored leotards. There was one in green, another in blue, and the last in red. They came into the room, spinning like gymnasts.

Nero rolled his eyes, walking towards the door frame. "I don't have time for this." He still had the Blue Rose on his shoulder and one of the small people tried to whip it out of his grasp, but he was too quick, saying, "Well, muchikens with whips… that's new."

Only the green one had whips though. The red one spit out a gout of fire and the blue one shot ice spikes. Nero dodged every one of the attacks as he heard them laughing… much like Nobodies.

"Okay, definitely not humans," Nero corrected. Yet, he felt humans with a small demon power, much like the crazed electrician he had face down earlier. Three more ice spikes were sent at him as the fire-spitter cartwheeled around the room, shooting out blasts of fire. The green one had two whips, each one nearly striking the demon hunter.

Nero noticed that they were human looking, but they had demonic powers. Again, he wondered if their clothes were devil-arms, giving them these special abilities, but, again, they were not. Something weird was definitely going on here.

They were no trouble for Nero though as he kicked one away, shot at another, and fought fire with fire, scaring away the one in red leotards. The others watched their companion run away as they looked at Nero and he spun the Red Queen onto his shoulder with a rev of the throttle. "Boo."

The remaining two ran away, screaming.

A short, "Hmn," came from Nero as he walked through the door frame, stepping on the blasted door, spinning the Red Queen back into its sheath.

Walking through a few hallways, he was suddenly imprisoned in a steel box as the voice told him, "You wouldn't want to arrive too soon. Spoil all the fun."

Nero tried to shoot through and slice through, but neither worked. He then rolled up the Devil Bringer and said, "So your answer to stop me is a box?"

"A special box."

Nero then heard screams - Kyrie's screams. She was screaming for him along with somebody else.

Nero darkly said, "Certainly would take a 'special person' to think a box can stop me." The Devil Bringer glowed a bright blue as he punched down all four walls and rolled his shoulders.

Stunned, the voice said, "Inconceivable!"

Nero smiled. "You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means."

Another scream. Nero raced away and crossed several rooms. He suddenly came out on a metal catwalk above a pit of broken glass and metal spikes. On the other side of the walk was Kyrie, and a man with a gun shoved underneath her chin. A woman in a black leather costume was over to the side, bleeding badly. Nero returned his focus to Kyrie and roared out for her.

This was when everyone looked at him and Kyrie said something to the man with a smile across her face. The wounded woman said something to Nero, complimenting him on his sword.

Nero unsheathed the Red Queen and placed it on his shoulder with a few, quick revs. The blade sprang to life with flame as he said with a vile look at the man, "Get away from her."

The man stood up with a wicked grin, spinning a fireax close to her throat, aiming the gun at Nero. "Nero, I take it?"

"Yeah, that's me," he growled.

"I think proper introductions are in order. My name is Jeffrey Ives, and I have been wanting to kill you, and the rest of Devil May Cry, for a long time."

"Easier said than done."

Jeffrey picked up his other ax, put them both on his back, and walked towards Nero. "Yeah, I certainly hope so."

Nero picked up that similar feeling. This man was mostly human with some kind of demonic aid. He still wasn't sure what kind, but it was internal, just like the crazed electrician and the small, elemental fiends. Something was giving his whole being a hellish boost, but he was still human. He would try not kill him, but after seeing what he had done to Kyrie and to this other woman… keyword was try.

They both locked blades as Jeffrey shot three times, missing each time. He looked at his gun with those blue, goat-like eyes and said, "Impossible! I don't miss unless I want to."

Nero glared at the man with a grinning grimace. "First time for everything, Jiffy!"

"My name is Jeffrey! Jeffrey Ives!" He swung for Nero with both axes and Nero easily evaded him on the bridge. He then took eight shots, reloaded quickly, and shot again.

The Red Queen master blocked each bullet, laughing, "You have to reload? Newbie to this whole 'demon' thing?"

"Shut-up!"

Nero blocked more bullets and ax swings. While Jeffrey seemed to move faster, and hit harder than any human, he was still only human. The two locked blades several more times as Jeffery was the aggressor, slashing, slicing, and swinging for Nero's neck, arms, just anywhere he could bury the ax head in the devil hunter. Meanwhile, Nero was a blur of movement, and he wasn't even trying. Dancing around the human man like he was standing still, the Red Queen's steel cutting small divots in the fire axs every time they met.

Soon, Jeffery was out of ammo for his gun, the slide back and clicking dry. He threw it to the side, over the bridge, and into the shards of glass and spikes below. With both axes in hand, he said, "I don't need a gun to murder you!"

Nero spun the Red Queen, telling him, "Give it up, Jiffy, you're beaten. Let me take Kyrie and that other girl out of here. Go back to whatever hole you crawled out of. You'll live longer."

Twirling both axes, Jeffery told Nero, "You don't get it, do you? This party is more important than any I've been invited to. They have to see how we do. I will not disappoint them."

"Yeah, and who's 'they?' You mean that guy over the speakers everywhere. Doesn't sound like someone who'll appreciate your talents."

"Ha! You have no idea what's really going on here. I have demonic power! I am a god!"

"Faced down a god before, faced down a few devils, too. You aren't either, Jiffy."

"Stop calling me that!" Jeffery went in for two, powerful, overhead swings, but nearly fell over the railing as Nero grabbed him, keeping him dangling over the shards and spikes.

"How you doing?" Nero asked. "You ready to come out of timeout?"

Jeffery turned and threw one of his axes at Nero as he easily avoided it. It landed near Xeni.

"Not a good way to thank the guy who saved your life." Nero hung him by his jacket near the bridge. Jeffery wouldn't fall, but he was unable to attack again either. "Don't go anywhere, just hang around for a little while, okay?"

Jeffery grumbled out, swinging his remaining ax uselessly as Nero walked away, sheathing the Red Queen. He walked up to Kyrie and said with a large, loving grin, "Hi."

Kyrie hugged him tight and said with a burst of tears, "Hi!" They kissed several times before Kyrie told him, "I never lost hope you'd find me."

"Eh, wasn't as hard as last time."

Kyrie said with a laugh, wiping away her tears, "No big god statues to fight this time."

"Nope," Nero said. "Although there was a crazy man with a beard."

"Isn't there always?"

Nero hugged her again and said, "I will always find you!"

They stayed like that for awhile until Kyrie said, alarmed, "XENI!"

They both rushed over as Nero covered the leather clad woman with his coat. "Freind of yours?" he asked.

Kyrie had to move Nero;s coat just a bit and looked at the wounds. Her name is Xeni, she kept me alive, along with her brother."

"Oh, where's he, like to shake that man's hand."

Kyrie looked at Nero sadly and shook her head.

"Damn," Nero said, truly heartbroken.

"He was a werewolf!" Xeni howled harshly.

"He could have been a garden slug for all I care," Nero said, not giving a damn in the world.

Kyrie clarified. "She thinks you hate werewolves."

"Where would she get an idea like that?" Nero asked.

"Long story," Kyrie said. "There were actually six of us in the beginning."

Nero looked at Kyrie and coddled her face and told her, "I'm sorry I couldn't get here sooner. I'm going to stick around and find these monsters!"

Kyrie smiled warmly, saying, "Let's help her first."

"Right," Nero said. "What's first?"

After some guidance from Kyrie, and Nero doing his best, Xeni was back on her feet. She was still wounded and still needed a hospital, but she could at least walk. Nero told Xeni to remove Kyrie and he would find the people that had done this to them, but Kyrie just wanted to go home. "I don't want to be away from you any more, and I don't want to be here any longer. I just want to go home, Nero."

Aggravated but understanding, Nero agreed to take Kyrie back home.

They turned to leave when Kyrie looked back at Xeni and asked, "You coming?"

"I'm fine Kyrie, really. You two go on, I'll follow shortly."

"You sure?"

Xeni smiled weakly, nodding as she said, "I don't know the way out of here. Need to follow you guys."

Nero and Kyrie began to walk away when Xeni yelled, "Hey!"

They both turned.

She pointed to the mummy mommy on the ground. Kyrie gasped and ran towards it, grabbing it, and rushed over to Nero. "I almost forgot her."

Nero smirked. "Well, can't have that, now can we?"

The couple were soon back out on the fairgrounds and the sun had just risen. Nero said, "What a Halloween!"

"Next year," Kyrie began, "can we just stay at home and watch scary movies?"

Nero smiled. "Absolutely!"
