When Barnabas returns to the Old House he finds Carolyn distraught.
"I am pregnant." She tells him
"I understand. You are afraid that if I feed of you the baby will be harmed."
"It is not that... It is Will..."
"He does not want children?"
"He does... He does not know...he does not know."
"Not know that?"
"What you don't know... What I cannot tell. We can hope for seven more years..."
Barnabas wants to interrogate her futher, but the expression in her face stops him. It is the same expression of the girl he interrogated before.
He sighs... Maybe the next girl he feeds on will tell him more, if she is not too scared..

In the next morning Maggie crumbles the paper. She needs to ask a few questions. she wonders whether or not to tell Quentin or wait until she knows more.
She goes into the bathroom and sees a noose hanging from the ceiling.
She runs screaming to where she finds Hoffman. Hoffman sees the noose and sighs. "I have to warn her. And if she does not listen..."
