Happy New Year everyone!

2020 has arrived and I hope that everyone has had a lovely holiday period and New Year. I gave myself the period off writing. Mine was OK apart from the the fact I caught a virus that lasts about 6 weeks. I've decided that this decade will be my best years yet... once I can shake the virus. My rewritten Fantastic Beasts fic will go up tomorrow as it's a special day.

Happy New Year again!

Lots of love,

Hidden Child-Part 62:

Lucius headed to Hogwarts and walked through the Castle and headed down to the dungeons. He stood outside Snape's office and braced himself for what he was about to walk into.

He knocked on the door with a sigh and entered the Potions' professor's office and closed the door behind him before looking at his daughter, clearly waiting to explode at him. He sat down opposite her and looked at her.

"What gives you the right to dictate who my friends can be?" Lyra said as she sat there, "first of all you try to stop me being friends with Zenon and now you're telling Jasmine to befriend me? Why do I feel that I'm having to have the same conversation with you all the time father? You say you'll listen to me and yet I say not to interfere and yet here we are again after you are trying to interfere again. I'm fed up!" she said before feeling a hand on her shoulder and knew it was her godfather.

"If I interfere it's because I care. You only have Zenon and I thought that you could do with a friend in your dorm and I assessed everyone and Jasmine seemed the most willing to change sides. Also she seemed the most likely to want to be friends with you," Lucius told his daughter.

"That doesn't mean that she wants to be friends with me though. She's just doing what you have asked. Throwing your weight around doesn't mean that people will be friends with me. Zenon wants to be friends with me… without being told to. That is what makes a friend, someone who just wants to be a friend of their own accord," Lyra said.

"Jasmine does want to be friends with you but was scared going up against Astrid. She has a father who is almost as influential as me but I have been able to guarantee her safety," Lucius said, "that's why she's been staying out of whatever Astrid has been trying to do. Surely you have noticed that Lyra," he said before seeing Lyra clearly thinking about what he'd just told her.

Silence fell in the office as Lyra sank back into the chair and began to think about what her father had just told her. There was some truth in the words her father had just said and, deep down, she knew that he had a point. Jasmine had been distancing herself from Astrid and the other girls in the dorm.

A sigh slipped passed the young Malfoy's lips as she appeared to be weighing up her options. She didn't want to admit that her father was right but she couldn't deny that he'd done his homework. A smirk appeared on her face.

"So I see you've done your homework then," she said as she twirled her blonde hair around her finger, "I should have known that you would have done that. You're smart, cunning… even persuasive when you want to be," she spoke as she looked at her father and watched him.

"You are so like your mother," Lucius said as he crossed his arms looking at his daughter, "but yes this time I did do my homework."

"You are right in that Jasmine has kept herself distanced from the others but you don't know the reason behind that," Lyra said, "how do you know that she wants to be friends with me? She could have been lying."

"I know how to spot a liar Lyra. I also may have tricked her into thinking her drink had Veritasium in it," he smirked before Lyra sighed.

"I will make this clear now that I am far from happy about this but I will give her a chance to prove herself," Lyra said rising from her chair, "I'm not even going to tell you to back off because you're not going to listen," she said before walking towards the door.

"Thank you Lyra," Lucius said before watching his daughter leave the office and head back towards the Common Room.

"She could have been a Ravenclaw," Severus said.

"Narcissa almost was and she takes after her so so much," Lucius sighed before taking a tumbler of Firewhiskey that had been offered, "Thank you Severus."

Lyra walked back into the Common Room and looked over towards the window and headed over to Zenon and Jasmine.

"OK so I believe your friendship is genuine after speaking to my father Jasmine," Lyra said as she sat down, "yes I yelled at him but he said that you were telling the truth."

"Lyra your father is right. You need someone other than Zenon and I don't think you should be bullied just because you're a Malfoy. You should be feared," Jasmine said as she looked at Lyra.

"That's why you were distancing yourself because you thought it was wrong and you wanted to be friends with me but didn't know how to do it without speaking to me first," Lyra said, "now my father has explained it all I can understand your reasoning for it all. I will give you a chance to prove you are genuine," she said softly.

"We need to stick together," Zenon said, "Being friends with Lyra means we have protection… but only if we are genuine friends," he said, "I've been with her through everything so far…"

"And I want that too," Jasmine said, "I couldn't lie to Lyra's father when I had drunk Veritasium. It's not possible to lie when you've had that."

"Then that is what we'll do. Stick together and break Astrid down and if she wants a fight then she'll get one," Lyra said, a determination coming through in her voice.

That night Lyra and Jasmine walked into the dorm and found the other three girls sat on Astrid's bed clearly discussing the two girls as silence fell as they spotted Lyra and Jasmine walking into the room.

Lyra just grabbed her things and headed to the bathroom to clean her teeth and get ready for bed. Jasmine would go after and she began to gather her stuff together for when arrived back. She watched the girls for a bit before beginning to get her things together before something caught her attention.

"Get away from Lyra's trunk!" she said rushing over to stop Daisy getting into Lyra's trunk.

"Well you've changed your tune," Daisy said.

"Maybe because I want to be friends with Lyra. Anyway why's Astrid changed her tune?"

"Maybe because Lyra is a spoilt brat," Astrid said, "her parents always have her back."

"That's not Lyra's fault," Jasmine said before Lyra appeared.

"What's going on?" she asked.

"Daisy trying to steal something," Jasmine said.

"Right then. One way to settle this," Astrid said, "dorm war."

"If it's war you want then it's war you'll get," Jasmine said beginning a dorm war that Lyra really could have done without. She had enough to cope with without any more trouble. It always just seemed to find her.
