Henry's fever broke the next morning but still had a little cough. The boys dropped him off with Ellen and headed to school. "I hate not driving." Dean grumbled when Cas pulled baby into the school parking lot.
"Next time don't break your foot when you fall down the stairs." Sam chimed in from the back.
"Shut up bitch." Dean fired back.
"Jerk." Sam huffed and Cas just rolled his eyes.
By time lunch rolled around Dean's foot was throbbing. Once Cas set both trays of food down at the table Dean asked for one of his pain killers.
"Okay but only one." Cas said and pulled the bottle out of his bag.
"Yo, I'll give you $20 bucks for a pill." Charlie joked as she sat down next to Cas.
"I'd have to kill you red." Dean said and glared at her.
Lunch was almost over when Charlie brought up the play again.
"I have the required lines memorized." Cas said, "but I'm still not sure if I'm going to audition."
"What?! Come onnnnn." Charlie begged.
"Cas. Just do it." Dean sighed. "We both know you want to. Don't let me and Henry slow you down."
"Alright fine." Cas gave up and grabbed his and Dean's tray.
After school Cas dropped Dean off at work. "I'll pick you up at 6. Love you!" he called out.
"Love you too." Dean said as the door closed.
"Dean! It's good to see you." Mr. Murray greeted him.
"Hi. Sorry about the past few shifts." Dean apologized.
"Oh, don't worry about it. Broken bones are the worst." Mr. Murray chuckled. "But, since you are limited today I'll just have you do some computer work. Is that alright?" he asked.
"Yeah, that's fine. And I need you to sign this slip for school giving your permission to allow me to have Henry here while I work in a couple weeks. Part of the class." Dean said digging in his pocket for the form.
"Yes, of course. Now, we do need some new art to hang up if you've got anything laying around." Mr. Murray stated.
"Yeah. I'll bring some Friday." Dean said and made his way to the back to start working.
Dean got lost in his work and jumped a little when Cas knocked on the door. "Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." he apologized.
"It's okay. I didn't realize what time it was, sorry." Dean said pushing his glasses up his nose.
"It's alright. I got Sam to watch Henry for a bit so we can go have dinner." Cas smiled.
"Oh, cool!" Dean said and his stomach growled in agreement. They got in the Impala and Cas headed for the Roadhouse. "Oh my god Cas you know exactly what I want." Dean said.
"I know." Cas smiled and helped Dean out of the car. They walked in and saw Bobby pouring drinks behind the bar.
"When did you become a bar tender?" Dean teased when the got closer.
"Since the bartender called in." Bobby huffed. "Just go sit down I'll bring you your food in a bit."
"How do you know what we want." Dean sassed.
"2 double bacon cheeseburgers with fries. Extra onion on yours idjit." Bobby fired back.
"Alright but I want water instead of pop tonight." Dean said as they walked to a booth.
"Water? You never get water." Cas said raising an eyebrow.
"I know I just feel a little dehydrated is all." Dean said. Cas just eyed him suspiciously.
Bobby dropped off their drinks, called them idjits and walked away. "He's going to be grumpy tomorrow." Cas said when Bobby walked away.
"He's always grumpy you know that." Dean laughed.
15 minutes later Ellen brought out their food. "Hi, boys. Can't talk too busy." Was all she said when she set down the plates.
"Hey, maybe you should work here a couple nights a week. Since you stopped working at the animal shelter." Dean suggested.
"Hmm maybe… I would be able to serve alcohol…" Cas thought about it. "But, it would mean more nights away from you guys." Cas brought up.
"We'll be fine Cas, it's not like Ellen would make you work every night." Dean said. The boys ate their food and talked about the play and a few other things going on. Dean told him about the few art pieces he was going to take to work Friday and Cas talked to him a little more about his training. A little while later Ellen brought over a huge chocolate milkshake with two straws. "Here you go boys. On the house." Ellen smiled and before she walked away Dean spoke up.
"Hey Ellen, looks like you guys could use a little extra help… Cas could work here."
"Oh, honey that would be fantastic but only if you wanted to." Ellen said and you could tell she was relieved.
"Uh, yeah I think I do." Cas smiled and Ellen gave him a hug.
"I will need you to fill out an application though, that way we have a file for you." She said, "I'll go grab it real quick." as Ellen walked away Dean had a big smile on his face.
"You just made her night."
Ellen brought the application and a pen. "Don't worry about your bill tonight boys. Consider it a thank you." Ellen smiled. Cas filled out the application quickly and brought it up before they left.
"Great. Can you be here Tuesday night for training?" Ellen asked.
"Yeah." Cas double checked his calendar.
"Great. Thanks Cas." Ellen said and waved as the boys left.
The next morning Henry woke up with a fever again. "Shhh. It's okay buddy." Dean tried soothing the grumpy pup. "Cas, could you stay home with him today? We both can't miss school again and you'll be able to take care of him better than I can at the moment." Dean asked when Cas came in the nursery, hair still damp from his shower.
"Yeah, today's one of my easier days anyway." Cas said and took Henry so Dean could get ready for school. Dean called Charlie once he was dressed.
"Charlie's whore house, you got the dough we got the ho. How can I help you?"
Dean laughed, "nice one. Can you give Sam and I a ride today? Henry's got a fever again so Cas is going to stay home with him."
"Yeah, I'm leaving in about 5 minutes." Charlie said.
Dean thanked her and slowly made his way up the stairs. Mary was pouring herself a glass of orange juice when he got to the top. "Morning honey." She greeted.
"Morning. Got the day off?" Dean asked and grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge.
"The next 3 days off actually." Mary said and Dean just raised an eyebrow.
"Wow. How'd you manage that?" He asked.
"One of the nurses needed a few more hours so I gave her mine." Mary shrugged. "Where's Cas?"
"He's staying home with Henry today, he's got a fever again. Charlie is going to give Sam and I a ride." Dean explained.
"Oh, well I can stay home with him." Mary offered.
"Are you sure? It's your first day off in how long?" Dean asked.
"It's alright, I'll go tell Cas to get ready and take Henry." Mary said and kissed her son's forehead.
"Alright. Thanks mom." He said and called Charlie real quick.
"I'm leaving calm down." Charlie answered.
"You calm down. I just wanted to say never mind about the ride. Mom has the day off and she said she'll take care of Henry." Dean sassed back.
"Oh, okay see you soon then." Charlie said and hung up.
By time lunch rolled around Dean was going nuts. He wanted to check on Henry all day but didn't have a chance to. So, once he was seated he called his mom.
"Hey sweetie. I was just about to call you." Mary answered.
"How's he doing?" Dean asked.
"I took him to the doctor and he's got an ear infection in his bad ear and a small cold, so he's got a couple of antibiotics. He's asleep right now, I got him to eat about half a jar of sweet potatoes earlier." Mary explained.
"Aw my poor baby." Dean whined. "Thanks mom." Dean relayed the message to everyone and just picked at his food.
By time school was over, Dean didn't even want to go to work. He just wanted to go home and cuddle his pup. "Dean, he'll be okay a few more hours with out you." Cas said and rubbed Dean's back.
"I know. I just hate that he's sick." Dean sighed and looked up at the gallery. "Help me carry these in would you." Dean asked.
"Dean these are fantastic!" Mr. Murray said once he saw the pieces. Dean had brought in two paintings and a picture he had taken one rainy night. "I think I'll take all three. You'll see it on your next paycheck if that's alright." Mr. Murray said still looking at the pieces.
"That's fine." Dean said and got to work on more inventory and sale receipts.
