Bobby had dropped Cas off since Dean was still unable to drive. "Thanks bobby." Cas said before heading inside.
"Novak!" One of the alphas training with him yelled out.
Letting out a sigh Cas stopped and turned to face the approaching boy, "yes?"
"Are you bringing your little wifey to the party next friday? I'd love to actually see his pretty face." The alpha teased again and Cas just raised his middle finger and kept walking. He tossed his bag on the floor next to his bed and sat down and ran his hands over his face.
'This is the last weekend before Christmas break. Don't cause a scene' Cas thought to himself.
"Long day?" Jack asked throwing his stuff on the top bunk.
"Very." Cas groaned. His phone chimed so he quickly pulled it out to check to see if it was Dean. All he said was I love you and have a good weekend. Cas responded with I love you too and plugged his phone in before grabbing his things to change before bed.
The blaring alarm startled Cas out of a deep slumber. He quickly rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and crawled out of bed.
"Alright! This is the last training of the year! After your 3 mile run, you'll hit the weight room for an hour then the showers! After your showers you'll eat breakfast then we'll be doing a lot of testing!" The officer explained and blew his little whistle to signal everyone to get started.
Back at home Henry was still fighting his ear infection and was just cranky as cranky could be. Dean was about ready to rip his hair out.
"Come on buddy, you gotta eat something." Dean tried soothing his pup while trying to feed him mashed potatoes. Henry just smacked the spoon and sobbed.
On the verge of tears himself Dean ended up taking Henry out of his high chair and took him downstairs. He apologized to his mom and Sam and took his cranky pup.
Sam looked at him mom "I've never seen Henry so upset before."
"I know sweetie, but with his ear hurting and him still being a baby all he can do is scream and cry." Mary explained while sticking Dean's plate in the microwave. They could hear Henry scream and cry from upstairs and Dean's soft attempts to sooth him.
"I don't know who to feel sorry for, Dean or Henry." Sam said and Mary just let out a chuckle.
"Just eat your food."
By time the alarm went off Monday morning, Dean was throughly exhausted. He slowly slid out of bed and hobbled his way to the bathroom to wipe himself down, still not able to take a shower and was too difficult to take a bath with out Cas there to help him out.
He brushed his teeth and got dressed, doing everything to avoid waking Henry up. He had a few minutes to spare so he texted Sam to have him come down to take Henry upstairs for him while he packed the diaper bag.
"If you can get him up there with out waking him up it'll be a miracle." Dean said quietly when Sam bent down to pick up his nephew. Henry fussed at the movement but didn't wake up which caused Sam to smirk at his brother.
About half way up the stairs Henry started crying. "Crap." Sam groaned and Dean just laughed. Mary took Henry once Sam got to the top.
"Is Charlie coming or do I need to give you boys a ride?" Mary asked.
"Charlie's on her way. Thanks for dropping him off at Ellen's for me." Dean said while getting Henry's breakfast and antibiotic ready.
"No problem." Mary answered and got Henry situated in the high chair. "Have a good day boys!" Mary yelled as the boys left.
"Dean you look like shit." Was the first thing out of Charlie's mouth when he got in her car.
"Good morning to you too." Dean sassed.
"Sorry but it's true." Charlie shrugged.
"Henry was not having it this weekend. I barely slept plus my ankle was killing me." Dean explained.
Cas was running late so he missed homeroom. Which mean he wouldn't see Dean until later. He was walking to his next class, also with out Dean when he overheard a few people talking.
"Did you hear Winchester passed out in Lit?" one asked.
'Passed out?! What?!' Cas thought to himself.
"He didn't pass out he fell asleep. The teacher was pissed." The girl giggled.
"Guess that's what happens when you have a kid in high school." Was the last thing Cas heard before they walked out of hearing range.
By time it was time for Bobby's class both Dean and Cas were anxious to see each other so they both were determined to get there before any other students.
Cas got there first followed closely by Dean. Dean set his crutches off to the side and practically fell into Cas' arms.
"Fuck I missed you." Dean mumbled.
"I missed you too. I also heard you fell asleep in Lit." Cas said helping Dean sit down.
"Yeah.. Henry didn't have a good weekend and my ankle was killing me so I barely slept." Dean explained. Before Cas could respond more people came in followed by Bobby.
The final bell rang and Sam, Jess, Dean, Cas and Charlie made their way to the auditorium. "I wonder why the auditions got pushed back." Charlie asked.
"I dunno." responded, "I'm only here for the set."
They all got seated when Mrs. Rosen got on stage. "Hi everyone, thank you for coming. I apologize for pushing it back but I had a family issue." She started, "now I see a lot of faces out there which is good! We'll start with the Pink Ladies."
Charlie and Jess and Meg walked up to the stage along with a few other girls. After a few runs, she called for the 'T Birds. Cas and Sam went up along with 5 other guys.
"Dean, honey are you not auditioning?" Mrs. Rosen asked after everyone had left.
"No, I don't thinks so Mrs. Rosen. I'm perfectly happy with working on the set. Plus Cas and I have Henry now so it'll be a little more difficult this year." Dean explained.
"Oh well honey you can bring him! I don't mind." Mrs. Rosen said.
"Okay, I will but I'm still don't think I'm going to audition. Sorry." Dean said one last time before leaving.
After dinner and Henry finally starting to calm down Cas brought up the Academy Christmas party. "I dunno Cas… After the last party/event we went to it didn't end so good." Dean said after thinking about it.
"I know, and I understand. But, this time the room is going to be full of cops if that makes you feel any better." Cas bargained.
"True… Alright, a few hours can't hurt." Dean decided.
"Thank you." Cas said, "do you want me to help you with a bath before bed?" he asked.
"Yes please." Dean groaned.
The next day there was no word about the cast results for the play so when the announcement came through before the final bell for everyone who auditioned to go to the auditorium after school if possible.
"My guess is there's call backs." Charlie mentioned.
"Guess we'll find out." Sam shrugged and held the door open for his brother.
"Well, what ever it is, good luck." Dean said and made his way to the back of the stage to start finding things for the set.
Once everyone who came was seated Mrs. Rosen walked up to the stage. "Hi guys. So, I noticed yesterday no one auditioned for the role of Kenickie." She started. "Now, while I have everyone else casted there is a certain person who I do believe would be perfect for the roll but they are reluctant to audition." Mrs. Rosen continued and Cas immediately knew she was talking about Dean.
"So, I guess we can go ahead and announce the rolls and I'll try to figure out the whole Kenickie situation." Mrs. Rosen called out. "We'll start with the T' Birds. Danny Zuko will be played by Castiel Novak. Doody will be played by Alex Thompson, Sonny will be played by Sam Winchester, and the roll of Putzie goes to Austin Mayors."
Charlie grinned and gave both Sam and Cas high fives.
"Now, the Pink Ladies. Rizzo goes to Charlie Bradbury, Sandy will be played by Jessica Moore, Frenchie is Gilda Hale, Marty will be played by Meg Masters and the roll of Jan goes to Lisa Breadon." Mrs. Rosen read off her clip board along with other minor characters and extras.
Back stage Dean paused what he was doing to hear the results, knowing Charlie and Cas would get the leads again and feeling a little irritated that she was talking about him for the stupid roll. It's not like Dean didn't want to do it, he just felt like he wouldn't be good enough. Sure, he's got a decent singing voice and he can dance if he focuses but he just didn't want to disappoint anyone. He just shrugged it off and went back towards everyone so they could go home.
Cas pulled into the driveway just as it started snowing. "I fucking hate the snow." Dean huffed while getting out of the Impala.
"You're only saying that because you're on crutches." Cas teased.
"Yeah, well you try hopping along in this shit and try not falling." Dean growled.
"Someone's cranky." Sam muttered to Cas, who just nodded in response.
"Yeah, good luck with him. I'm going to go get Henry." Cas said and got back in the Impala.
Later that night Mary was asking about the auditions. "They went good but Mrs. Rosen said no one has auditioned for Kenickie but we're all pretty sure she's saving that roll for Dean, but he's being Dean about it and won't audition." Sam said barely stopping to take a breath.
"Sam, give it a rest. I'm not auditioning." Dean sighed while wiping peas off Henry's cheek.
"Why? Dean you'd be perfect for the roll and Mrs. Rosen even said so." Sam whined.
"Dean honey, why don't you want to audition?" Mary asked.
"I don't know okay! Jesus. I want to but I don't want to. Why is everyone up my ass about this?!" Dean almost yelled.
"Dean, we're not trying you to force you to anything. We just think you'd have fun." Cas said rubbing Dean's back.
"I know." Dean said defeatedly. "I just don't want to disappoint anyone anymore." He whispered.
"Disappoint anyone? Honey you're not disappointing anyone." Mary said softly. "I know you've been through a lot lately but I think this would be a great distraction for you." Mary continued.
Everyone was quiet after that and continued eating. Dean let out a small sniffle, "I'll think about it." he said softly and made his way downstairs.
