Cas finished feeding Henry and helped clean up before going downstairs. Once he got down there Dean was in the bathroom but his phone was on the coffee table open on a message. Knowing it was an invasion of privacy Cas took a quick peek and saw that Dean had messaged Mrs. Rosen about auditioning.
"Nosey." Came Dean's voice and Cas quickly put the phone down and set Henry on a blanket.
"Sorry. I shouldn't have done that." Cas apologized and slid over so Dean could sit.
"It's fine." Dean sighed and propped his foot up. "I'm sorry about earlier at dinner." Dean apologized. "I don't know why I have this bug up my ass about this."
"I understand. I just hope that you know that none of us including Charlie that it was never our intention to force you into this." Cas said and put his arm around Dean.
Leaning his head on his mates shoulder, Dean just nodded "I know." he said softly. "Tell me more about this party Friday."
They decided not to tell anyone that Dean was auditioning, even though Dean knew he'd get the part he just wanted it to be a surprise. Dean walked into Bobby's room when it was time for his internship and told him what was going on.
"Alright, I didn't have much for you to do today except edit a few pages for the yearbook. If I don't see you when the bell rings see you tomorrow." Bobby said and went back to grading quizzes.
"Thanks Bobby, I'm pretty sure it wont take that long." Dean said and headed towards the auditorium. He saw Mrs. Rosen talking to Mr. Owens, the assistant director and main set/costume guy. Dean cleared his throat to catch their attention.
"Dean! I'm so glad you decided to do this." Mrs. Rosen smiled, "go ahead and take seat and we'll read a few lines." Dean nodded and sat down and accepted the script from Mr. Owens.
"Now, Dean, I know Kenickie doesn't have any solos but I do want to hear your voice if you don't mind so if you could sing a little bit of 'Sandy', that would be great." Mrs. Rosen said.
"Uh okay." Dean said and quickly found the page with the song, cleared his throat and sang the first verse.
"Oh, perfect! This is going to be good, I can't wait!" Mrs. Rosen said clapping her hands.
"Does that mean I have the part?" Dean asked.
"Oh, yes, of course! Congratulations! Go ahead and keep that script." Mrs. Rosen smiled and Mr. Owens just shook his hand.
On his way back to Bobby's room he ran into Charlie. "Hey Dean!" Charlie said, "whatcha got there?" she asked eyeing the script.
"Oh, uh a script for the play." Dean said.
"Did you audition?!" Charlie asked bouncing up and down.
"No." Dean said quickly, "I just need it so I can start working on set stuff." Which wasn't a total lie, while he was still going to be playing Kenickie he was still the main set designer.
"Oh. Okay then, see you later." Charlie said softly.
Dean let out a sigh and kept moving. "Well?" Bobby asked once Dean got sat down.
Dean pulled out his laptop and logged into the yearbook website. "Well what?"
"Don't be an idjit. Did you get the part?" Bobby asked.
"Uh yeah I did." Dean said, still not bothering to look up from his screen. Bobby just huffed and went back to what he was doing. They both spent the rest of their time in silence until the bell rang. "See you tomorrow." Dean said once he had all of his stuff gathered up and Bobby just waved.
By the time Dean got to the Impala Cas and Sam were inside waiting. "Sorry, still not the fastest when it comes to these damn things." Dean apologized once he got in.
"It's alright." Cas said and squeezed Dean's hand before going to pick Henry up. "See you in a couple hours." Cas said once he dropped everyone off and headed towards the Roadhouse.
Sam brought Henry downstairs for Dean and decided to hang out there for a bit before he started on his homework. Dean started on his and eventually switched over to the script and started highlighting his parts.
"Is that the script for the play?! Did you audition?!" Sam asked getting excited.
"Yes, it's a script. No, I didn't audition." Dean said not bothering to look up from it.
"Then why are you highlighting things?" Sam asked.
"I'm highlighting key set designs." Dean said.
"You didn't do that for 'Into the Woods'." Sam pointed out.
"Fuck off Sam." Dean grouched and glared at his brother.
"Jesus. Alright." Sam said throwing his hands up. "I guess I'll just go do my homework." He said, "are you going to make supper?" he asked before going up.
"You can fix supper I'm not your personal chef." Dean said once again not bothering to look up from the script.
"What crawled up your ass? You know I can't cook." Sam huffed. but went upstairs before getting an answer. He texted Cas about bringing food and started in on his homework.
Once he finished his English he figured he might have to bring food down for Henry so he texted Dean.
Rolling his eyes Sam gathered the things Dean asked for and headed downstairs. "Do you want the turkey in the fridge or are you going to feed him now?" Sam asked.
Dean looked up from his History book, "in the fridge is fine. I'll feed him when I'm done with this. Thank you." Dean said and went back to his homework.
"You're welcome." Was all Sam said, he tickled Henry's foot and headed up the stairs, only to be about knocked over by Lucy running down them. Sam heard Henry's laughter drift up the stairs when he sat back down to work.
Dean sighed and put down his history book. He knew he was being a dick to Sam he just was tired. Tired physically, mentally and tired of people bugging him about the play and his foot was killing him. He'd apologize later, but he needed to get Henry fed before he went ballistic.
Cas pulled into the driveway hoping he didn't make the Impala smell like a fryer, knowing Dean would kill him. He made his way inside and gave Sam his food and headed down the stairs with his and Dean's. "Babe?" he called out when Henry and Dean were missing.
"Coming!" He heard Dean yell from Henry's room. Cas noticed Dean's crutches next to the couch and hurried up towards the nursery. He found Dean finishing up changing Henry's diaper.
"What are you doing?" Cas asked.
"Changing your son because he decided it would be fun to shit up his back." Dean responded.
"I can see that but, did you hop in here with Henry?" He asked while walking over to the changing station to take Henry.
"Good observation ace." Dean teased. "I had no choice I didn't have spare clothes out there for him and I had to give him a quick bath to get him not to smell like shit." Dean explained.
"Okay, well for starters I'm glad you both are okay and second stay there I'll grab your crutches." Cas said and went to put Henry in his swing, making sure he kissed his chubby cheek first. He went back for Dean who was slowly hobbling his way out of the nursery.
"You don't listen, do you?" Cas asked.
"Nope." Dean said and you could tell he was in pain. "You forgot the crutches genius."
"I know I did. I did it on purpose." Cas said and before Dean could ask why, Cas scooped him up.
"What the hell dude." Dean said quickly wrapping an arm around Cas' neck.
"I like carrying you." Cas said, "now let's eat before everything gets soggy."
