The dominating liquid was emanating a smell close to rotten eggs mixed with burned wood. Kelly was pinching her nose with her fingers.
"The smell is coming from here..." Her mouth shaped as a small . "... so, that's why Mirii couldn't walk inside that small room..."
Her irises moved over her right side.
"... I should warn Mirii first..." She frowned a little.
"Welcome, my little guest!"
"Ah?!" Her eyes went wide.
The long-fringed girl was leaning against the wall with her stomach, while her elbow was sticking on it and her right hand was holding her head.
"I didn't expect the arrival of a Shrine citizen in such non-mystical place..." She snickered. "But hey, if the Master of the Shrine is here... it does mean something."
Kelly turned over her left side, watching the girl and scowling even more.
"Wh-what have you done to Master Hun?!"
"... he is enjoying the wonders of that nice, little prodigy you were staring at." The taller girl's head was slowly tilting left and right...
"H-he is inside that thing?!" Kelly shivered.
"Like the rest of the mortals." The unknown girl was still tilting her head, now tapping the wall with her finger tips. "There is room for Shrine citizens, though."
"I would rather touch the sea than that thing!" Kelly growled back at her.
"It is called 'Bamarax', not 'thing'." The long-fringed Inkling's mouth tilted diagonally-up. "It took me a good half hour to come up with a clever name like that."
"I don't care!" Kelly stuck out her tongue.
"... ih ih ih!" The girl smiled back. "So adorable!"
"Free Master Hun already!" She bended herself forward.
"Sheesh!" The girl's head shook. "It's not like he is about to disappear or something..."
"H-he could be, if he keeps staying under that thing or something!" Sweat formed on Kelly's forehead.
"Bamarax!" The long-fringed girl's mouth downturned. "I said it before!"
"I said that I didn't care!" Kelly's eyes squeezed. "I will attack you, if you don't leave Master Hun alone!"
"Gee... that's what you get for being friendly with the Shrinies..." The girl bounced off the wall, as she floated above the sea of blackish liquid. "Do you want a Turf War instead?!"
"No!" Kelly showed her teeth. "I want you to go away!"
"You don't have a choice, little Squid!" The girl rose her arms, opened her hands wide open.
A large brush materialized above her head.
"M-my brush!" Kelly stretched herself towards the external side, as her eyes almost popped out. "You were the one who stole it from me!"
"Pretty right, sweety!" The girl threw the brush over the Shrine lady.
Kelly went off the wall, catching the brush's handle in thin air: she fell right after, aiming towards the boiling liquid.
She swung her brush, as magenta ink came off her weapon: the ink touched the floor, forming a magenta stain.
Kelly landed on it, as she quickly stared up. The girl flew towards the wall on the distance, halting near the hanging weapons.
"Let's see how you do against those Turf War players!" The long-fringed girl rose her arms, while grinning widely. "Raise, my minions!"
All the sudden, 4 Inklings rose from different spots, as Kelly gave a quick look at each of them: they were all holding each a different weapon too!
"... I can't move out of here!" Kelly's right eye sealed, while the left one semi-closed.
Her knees bended and her brush was lifted up in the air.
"Wh-what did you do to me...?!" She snorted. "I-I... ah, yes!"
Her right hand opened, moving away from the brush's handle. Kelly was staring at its palm, whose colour had a slight red tone on it...
"... eh?" Her irises shrunk. "M-my papers...!" She compressed her eyes. "Hhhmmppfffrrrr...!"
"Ha ha ha!" The floating folded her arms. "You can try all you want, but there is simply no use!"
"... how did you do that?!" Kelly's eyes reopened, as they got a bit watery.
"The Bamarax is doing all the work!" The girl grinned at her. "And I'm glad that it is working!"
"O-oh no!" Kelly sniffed loudly.
"Thanks to the Bamarax, conquering the Shrine will be as easy as splatting someone who's not armed!" The long-fringed girl thrusted her right arm. "Enough talk! Get that Squid, my minions!"
2 Inkling marched, one was aiming at Kelly with a Charger weapon and the last one was holding the trigger, causing the Splatling to rotate its large muzzle.
"... if the thing is not letting me use my powers..." Kelly swung her brush, as ink flew off it. "I will get rid of it!"
"... t..." Mirii's head was tilting upwards, as her arms were folded. "... they talk like them..."
The shadows shaped themselves as an Inkling girl and an Inkling boy respectively.
"... in other words, you two are Greta and Carlson." She snorted. "You were turned into puffs of darkness from a Demon Squid who disguised herself as an Inkling invader..."
The shadowy heads nodded twice.
"... and you expected me to believe in your testimony without a consideration for evidence?!" Mirii frowned. "Show one to me, before thinking to stop me with more letter-shaping sessions."
The girl walked forward, but the shadows flew backwards: the left one shaped itself as a shorter Inkling girl with a long-fringe in front of her eyes.
"... she is the Demon Squid in question?" Mirii kept walking, reaching the elevator door once more.
The right shadow nodded.
"I was thinking to talk with her myself." Mirii approached the elevator button. "However, the fact you showed me an Inkling is not enough proof."
Her right forefinger pushed the button, then she walked in front of the door. The girl sighed, as her hands went over her sides.
Din!
Mirii's right fingers pinched her nose, as her eyes were immediately scanning the surroundings: nothing particular was on plain sight.
"... th-the smell is even reaching my nostrils when I pinch my own nose...!" Her eyes squeezed. "Nnnnggh...! I-I can't let a mere quantity of bad air stop me...!"
As soon as her eyes opened, she stepped inside the elevator with her eyebrows down. The smell got stronger, no matter how harder her fingers pinched the nose.
"Gaaaahh...!" She felt something sticking inside her throat. "Aaaaah! It's teeeerrible!" Her head shook violently.
Suddenly, the two shadows began flying around and around, while inside the elevator. In a second, fresh air was quickly conquering her nose.
Mirii's eyes blinked, watching the shadows generating wind with their flying movements. Her fingers left her nose, as her mouth opened and inhaled more of the incoming air.
"... why are they helping me...?" She frowned. "Are they trying to trick me...?!"
Her sight landed on the nearby button panel.
"Whatever the case..." She walked towards. "I finally gained access to this ridiculous elevator!"
