Nothing but the sounds of gun shots were heard throughout the entire area. As Mirii finished firing ink over a crate, she sighed and leaned against its wall.
"... I almost covered the entire floor..." Her eyebrows went up. "... where is everyone...?"
Droplets were heard nearby, as the chilly air was caressing through her back.
"Brrr...!" She hugged her own arms. "I feel so alone, my senses got too sensitive even for the slightest fresh air..."
The girl kept shivering, as she bended her knees and lowered her bottom towards the floor.
"... it's getting a bit too cold for my tastes, though...!" She twisted herself left and right. "A-as if someone turned on the most powerful air conditioning device possible...!"
She breathed, putting her weapon down on the floor and massaging both her arms. Her eyes noticed puffs of smoke coming in front of her nose: in a second, she focused her attention over her breaths.
Every time she exhaled oxygen, a small cloud elevated in front of her face and proceeded from there.
"... i-is the room itself g-getting colder and colder?!" Her eyes went wide, as she gritted her teeth. "Curses! Th-that sneaky, little Demon Squid...!" She frowned. "She is the only slimy being who would be capable of playing such a trick on me...!"
Her right hand immediately grabbed her weapon, as she rose her knees and proceeded away from the wall. She gave a quick look around, noticing nothing but her own ink dominating the area.
She dived down as a Squid, swimming fast towards the middle of the room. Suddenly, she rose back and trembled violently, hugging herself tightly. Her knees were touching each other.
"G-gaaahh...!" Her eyes squeezed. "Aaaaaahh...!"
Step sounds were heard.
"Nnnnnngggh...!" Her head shook. "I-I can't turn into a Squid w-with this weather...!" She shivered violently. "I-I would turn into frozen f-food...!"
The step sounds continued, as they grew louder.
"AaaaaaAAAH!" She breathed heavily. "H-Hunleeeeyyy...!"
Finally, the sounds stopped. The girl was lowering her legs, almost ending up sitting on the floor.
"Is this how the great Mirii Kelpshell will end her days?" A male voice rumbled her ears.
Mirii herself didn't turn at all, as her legs were stumbling violently.
"I thought you were tougher than this, o' so legendary Squid girl..."
"Wh-who are yoouuu?!" Mirii bended herself forward, compressing her eyes to the max.
"My identity is the least of your problems. Focus on the pain, mortal." His voice was almost echoing.
"... n-never...!" Her eyelids lifted a little, as her sight was blurry. "You... y-you demon...!"
A tall Inkling man wearing a dark-blue kimono was folding his arms in front of the much shorter girl.
"How could a mortal like you managed to influence one of us...?" He growled internally. "There is no power flowing in your veins, aside from the desire of being... 'perfect'..."
"I'm already perfection incarnated!" Her eyelids lifted some more, as she finally looked over her right side. "And if you care about yourself, you better consider escaping as a legit solution."
She was facing a tall, large Inkling man wearing a beard on his lower part of his face and a downturned mouth. He was also wearing a long coat who covered even the upper side of his legs.
His beard and irises were light-blue, while his coat was colored dark-blue.
"You can't even stand still correctly..." His head rose. "My icy presence is enough to keep you grounded on the floor."
"Gr, grrr..." Mirii gritted her teeth, as she slowly rose her legs and barely stretched them upwards. "... your plans are all vanquished, due to my actions..."
"I had no plans here... Sher did, though." He frowned. "And she would had gotten away, if you never interfered with her."
"Sher...?" Mirii's mouth opened a bit.
"Father! No!"
Suddenly, the long-fringed flew in front of Mirii with her arms wide open and her face aimed towards the man.
"Pl-please... I'm begging you!" She was sobbing with her mouth shut.
"... your voice is the same... your tentacles too..." His right hand rose shyly. "... why I can't recognize you, anymore...?"
"Shut it!" The girl roared. "I always had admiration for Mirii! She is my inspiration for being a better Squid!"
Mirii's mouth opened a bit.
"Look at her standing up, despite the harsh weather you cursed the room with!" Sher gritted her teeth for a bit. "... she never gives up... she would do anything to see her dears again and again..." She bended herself forward. "YOU NEVER TOLD ME THAT!"
The man was silent, with his thrusted hand already retreated...
"... instead..." She lowered her head, sobbing even more. "... I was deceived in the understanding of being friendly... ... I thought she would had considered me, if she splatted me..."
"... Sher..." The man walked towards her.
"F-father...!" Her head rose back.
Paf!
His right hand landed on her forehead. All the sudden, Sher screamed as loudly as she could! Her arms stretched desperately towards the ceiling, while her long-fringe lifted, exposing her squeezing eyes.
Mirii took a few steps back, as she halted her breathing...
Finally, his right hand flew off the girl's forehead, as Sher lowered both her head and shoulders, while her mouth closed.
"... eh eh eh...!" The girl rose her head back. "Eh eh eh eh...!"
The man smiled, while looking at her.
"Ah ah ah ah!" She twisted behind, stretching her arms sideways and grinning. "Welcome to the ice age, witch!"
Mirii's jaw dropped: the flying girl flew rapidly towards her enemy, while a spiky shape was coming on her left hand.
Mirii dived inside her blue ink, as she swam towards the right side: Sher stopped right where Mirii was, as she shot a large, orange ink projectile towards the small waves.
BLAM!
An explosion of orange ink happened behind Mirii's waves.
"Gack!" Mirii re-emerged, as she resumed her normal form and closed her right eye. "S-staying under that ink is... is worse than ice itself!"
"Get ready to be splatted!" The flying girl laughed maniacally, as she aimed her weapon towards Mirii.
Her long-fringe lifted once more: her eyes were now fully coloured in a purple variety.
