Cas carried Dean out to the Impala and asked Dean if he could buckle himself in. Dean slowly reached for the seat belt and buckled himself in. Letting out a sigh of relief Cas kissed the side of Dean's head and told him good job. "Do you still want to get Henry?" Cas asked once he was buckled in.
"Yes." Dean whispered. Cas nodded and headed towards Bobby and Ellen's. Once he pulled in and parked the car he turned towards Dean, "I'm going to go get him okay? I'll be right back." Dean didn't say anything or nod, he just continued to look out the window.
Cas quickly knocked before going in. "Ellen? Hello?" he called out making his way towards the living room. Ellen popped her head around the corner of the kitchen.
"Cas? What's goin on?" Ellen asked coming out.
"I'm here to get Henry." Cas stated.
"Okay, what happened to school? You didn't get suspended again did you? Cuz you know that's going to look bad on your record for the Academy." Ellen said putting her hands on her hips.
"No, there was an accident with Dean. He's out in the Impala." Cas said.
"Accident? What happened? Is he okay?" Ellen asked looking towards the door.
"Not really. A bully grabbed him in the hall and started dragging him to the bathroom an-and Dean had a full on panic attack." Cas said, his emotions catching up to him and he let out a few tears.
"Oh, honey. That's awful." Ellen gasped and pulled Cas into a hug. "I'll go get Henry's things, he's in his pack 'n play." Ellen said and went towards the bathroom.
Calming down Cas quickly went over to his son who was sitting up on the side against the wall playing with a bear. Noticing someone coming up, Henry looked up expecting Ellen. When he noticed it was his papa he grinned and reached up for him.
"Hi buddy." Cas smiled, "you ready to go home? I know daddy's ready to hold you." he said softly and chuckled when Henry grabbed his nose. Cas carefully pried his sons fingers off his nose and got him situated in the carseat.
"Here you go hon. Let me know if you need anything." Ellen said and kissed both Henry and Cas on the cheek.
"Thank you."
Cas pulled into the driveway next to Mary's car and turned towards Dean. "Dean? Can you walk inside while I get Henry?" Dean slowly nodded and unbuckled himself and opened the door while Cas quickly got Henry and the diaper bag out of the back.
Inside Mary was putting together some sandwiches while Sam got drinks out of the fridge when they heard the door open. Sam quickly put the drinks down and ran to the front door.
"Dean!" Sam shouted and went to go hug him but quickly stopped when he saw Dean's eyes bug out and throw his hands up. "Sorry!" Sam said quietly and backed up a few steps.
"Try not to take it personally Sam." Cas said setting the carseat down so he could get his and Dean's coats off.
"Sammy?" Dean asked softly.
"Yeah?" Sam responded and grabbed the hand Dean held out. Limping forward, not used to the boot, he pulled Sam into a hug and buried his nose in his brother's hair.
"'m sorry you had to see that today." Dean whispered.
"It's not your fault." Sam responded and flung his arms around his brother's waist. "I'm glad you're okay." he whispered and started crying.
"Sam, maybe we should let Dean sit down and get off his foot." Cas suggested, now holding a squirmy Henry.
"Oh, right. Come on Dean, mom made sandwiches." Sam said and took his brother's hand.
Once Dean sat down he reached for Henry and Cas quickly handed him over. Mary, Sam and Cas just stood there to see what would happen. They watched Dean show emotion besides fear. He closed his eyes and held his pup close for a while before the 3 resumed getting their lunches prepared.
"Dean, are you hungry?" Mary asked and Dean just shook his head. "Alright, do you think you can feed Henry then?" she continued to ask and drug the high chair over. Dean didn't say anything but put Henry in the chair and got up to get his food.
"How long is he going to be like this?" Sam asked.
"I'm not sure honey. I called Dr. Hansen, he said he'd be here after his last patient at 4." Mary said and ran her fingers through Sam's hair.
Once Henry was finished eating, they got Dean to eat half a sandwich before he, Cas and Henry went downstairs. Dean went straight to the nursery and put Henry down for his nap while Cas waited in the living room for him. He finally checked his phone after feeling it go off a hundred times, knowing it was Charlie.
Cas put his phone away when Dean came out of the nursery. He met Dean about half way and pulled him into a hug. "I'm so, so, sorry baby." Cas whispered and he felt Dean clench his fists into Cas' shirt. "Charlie wanted me to tell you she loves you." he continued and that's when the dam broke.
Dean sobbed and sobbed and Cas just held on to him tighter. "I'm going to pick you up okay?" Cas said softly and gently picked his mate up and carried him to the bedroom.
"Can your boot come off?" He asked and Dean just nodded, still sobbing. Cas quickly, but carefully got the boot off and took Dean's glasses off. He got Dean situated under the covers and quickly crawled into bed. "Come here." Cas said softly and held out his arms.
Dean scooted forward and pressed his face into Cas' chest and continued to cry. Cas has never seen him cry this hard and it broke his heart. He just laid there and rubbed Dean's back until Dean cried himself out and fell asleep. Cas ended up falling asleep shortly after Dean but was woken up to Henry fussing through the baby monitor.
He carefully maneuvered out of Dean's grip and made his way to Henry. Once he had Henry he made his way to the living room and turned the tv on, setting Henry down in front of his toys. Cas went and got his phone, careful not to wake Dean, who was still softly snoring and called Charlie, now that school was out.
"Cas? How is he?" Charlie answered after the first ring.
"He's sleeping." Cas responded. "He cried for a good hour… I've never seen him cry that hard Charlie." Cas said, his own voice cracking a bit.
"I'm sorry Cas. I know this must be hard for you." Charlie sympathized. "Let me know if you guys need anything and keep me updated."
"I will." Cas said and hung up and rubbed his hand over his face.
"Cas?.. Cas?!" Dean called out after he woke up alone. He jumped when the bedroom door flung open.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." Cas said softly.
"It's okay… How long was I out?" Dean asked reaching for his glasses.
"Almost 2 1/2 hours." Cas responded while grabbing Dean's boot.
"Where's Henry?" Dean asked and sat up so Cas could help him with the boot.
"In the living room playing with his toys." Cas said adjusting the last strap. And is if on cue a loud yell and giggle came from outside their room.
"Cas?" Dean asked once they got to the living room.
"Hmm?"
"Why is Henry by the stairs?" Dean asked again.
"What? He's not he's by the tv." Cas said coming around Dean but stopped dead in his tracks. "What the fuck?" Cas gasped noticing his son was indeed by the stairs.
"We just missed his first crawl." Dean said and you could hear how upset he was. Cas couldn't say anything, he was still in shock.
"I-I don't believe it." Cas said softly but pulled his phone out anyway and pulled up his camera. "Hey big guy, look at you all the way over there." Cas said and made few steps towards Henry.
Henry looked up and saw his parents and gave them a big smile. "Can you crawl over here to papa?" Cas asked and sat down on the floor.
Dean walked next to Cas and sat down as well. "Come here buddy!" He encouraged.
Henry let out a squeal and went from sitting up to getting on his hands and knees and started rocking a bit.
"That's it! Come here!" Cas cooed.
And before they knew it Henry was slowly crawling towards them.
"Yes! Good job buddy keep going!" Dean said clapping his hands. Henry kept giggling and crawled all the way up into Dean's lap.
"Oh my goodness! You did it!" Dean said happy tears rolling down his face. "You're such a big boy." he laughed and kissed Henry's cheek.
Cas shut off the video and took Henry when Dean handed him over. "I'm so proud of you!" Cas smiled and also kissed Henry's cheek.
"We're gonna need to baby proof." Dean said struggling to get back up.
"Let me help you." Cas said and stood up, switched Henry to his left arm and held out his right hand for Dean to grab. Once Dean was up Cas pulled him in for a hug. "I can't believe that just happened!" Cas said and both boys laughed when Henry struggled to be put down.
"Hang on I'm going to go get mom and Sammy." Dean said and went up the stairs as fast as he could. He got to the kitchen, slightly out of breath and called out. "Mom! Sammy?!"
"Dean?!" He heard his mom call back and she came jogging around the corner. "What's wrong?" she asked.
"Nothing, get Sam and come downstairs!" Dean grinned and went back down. Shocked at the sudden change in her son, Mary stood there for a second before running to the stairs and yelled for Sam to get down there.
Not long after Dean got back downstairs Mary and Sam came running down. "What's going on?" Sam asked catching his breath from running down two flights of stairs.
"Stay there." Dean said and set Henry down. "Mom, call him over to you."
Both Sam and Mary got down on the floor. "Henry? Come here big guy. Come to grandma!" She called out and held out her arms. "Come on." she cooed when Henry smiled at her. Between Sam and Mary calling for Henry, he got in position and started crawling towards them.
"Ohhh, look at you go!" Mary cheered while Sam clapped. Right as Henry go to them the doorbell rang. "Oh, I'll go get it." Mary said handing Henry over to Sam and went upstairs.
"Wonder who that is." Dean mentioned and went to go sit down.
"Um, it would be Dr. Hansen, Dean." Cas said softly. "We just wanted to make sure you were okay." he continued.
"Oh. I get it…" Dean said and looked down at his lap.
"Please don't be upset." Cas begged and sat down next to him.
"I'm not, just I kinda forgot about it with Henry crawling and it's coming back to me now." Dean said softly. "Sammy? Can you take Henry upstairs for a bit?"
"Sure, Dean. I'll bring him down when Dr. Hansen leaves." Sam said and met the therapist at the top of the stairs.
"Hello boys." Dr. Hansen greeted.
"Hi Dr. Hansen. Sorry it's a little messy down here." Cas apologized.
"Oh, it's quite alright. You weren't expecting company." He grinned and turned his focus to Dean, who had been sitting there quietly.
"I heard what happened today Dean. I'm sorry you had to go through that." Dr. Hansen started. "I know it's hard to think about, but can you tell me what happened in your flashback?"
Dean took a deep breath and let it out shakily. "I blacked out when Billy grabbed me.. I was fighting to get out of his grip and all of a sudden I blacked out and all I could see was that fucking basement."
Cas scooted closer to Dean and grabbed his hand. "I don't really remember what happened after I blanked I just remember hitting the ground and as my vision came back Cas had tackled him to the ground and punched him." Dean continued. "I don't even know how Cas got there or how he heard me."
"I was in government and all of a sudden my stomach started turning and I felt like I was going to be sick." Cas butted in. "In the back of my mind I kept saying to myself, I have to get to Dean. Dean's in trouble… That's when we heard you yelling. It was faint since you were on the main floor, we didn't know who was yelling but I did. I didn't even wait to be excused or anything I just ran and the closer I got you were yelling my name and for help and I saw red the second I saw you fall to the ground with Billy towering over you." Cas said and the scent of pissed alpha was filling the air.
Dr. Hansen sat there and listened to both boys carefully. "Well, Cas. It's not uncommon for mates to be able to sense if their mate is in trouble. It's kind of like a sixth sense so to speak. That's why your stomach got upset and your inner alpha was screaming to get to Dean." he explained.
"Now, Dean. You've already know that you suffer from PTSD after your kidnapping so this was just a severe episode. Have you had any other flash backs or incidences lately?"
Dean shook his head no. "Everything had been going smoothly, besides my ankle. I was in such a good mood this morning until then."
"Hmm. Cas, how long was he catatonic?" Dr. Hansen asked.
"For a while actually. I was kind of scary… He wouldn't walk or talk but when we came home he fed Henry and we got him to eat half a sandwich. Then we put Henry down for his nap and Dean broke down and cried." Cas explained.
"Mhmm. But it seems like you're doing okay now." Dr. Hansen said directing his attention back to Dean.
"For the most part I guess." Dean shrugged. "I woke up and we discovered that Henry had started crawling. It really got me to forget about what happened."
"That's good. Distractions are a very good thing, as long as it's a good distraction of course." Dr. Hansen said, "do you feel like you need to talk about it more? Or anything else on your mind. I know we haven't met lately."
"Um, no not really…" Dean said.
"Dean. I've known you long enough to know when you're hiding something… Is it something you don't want to say in front of Castiel?" Dr. Hansen asked.
"I'm sorry Cas." Dean whispered and looked over.
"Hey, it's okay. I get it." Cas smiled. "I'll go upstairs." he said and kissed Dean quickly before going up.
"Okay, he's gone. What's on your mind?" Dr. Hansen asked.
"Nothing really… It's just that him wanting to be a cop is still bugging me and I don't know why." Dean confessed. "I'm proud of him wanting to do this. I really am, but for some reason there's this bug that is in my mind that he's going to do something stupid and get himself killed."
"That is a risk when it comes to that profession." Dr. Hansen began. "Have you talked to him about it?"
"Yes and no…" Dean said focusing on the carpet. "He knows I'm not 100% okay with it but he knows I know it's what he wants."
"I suggest you just hash it out and tell him everything that is on your mind about it. Your concerns, your feelings, everything." Dr. Hansen suggested. Dean just nodded, not bothering to look up. "Okay, well, if there's nothing else on your mind, I think I'll sneak out and let you rest." Dr. Hansen said and stood up, Dean following suit.
Dean followed Dr. Hansen up the stairs and said goodbye before going to find his family. He found them in the living room talking amongst themselves.
"Hey." Dean said making his way to sit next to Cas.
"Hi honey. How'd it go?" Mary asked offering the block she had in her hand to Henry, who put a corner in his mouth and immediately started chewing on it.
"Fine… I'm starving though." Dean said and everyone laughed.
"Well Bobby was wondering if he could come by and see how you were doing. He did offer to make his burgers." Mary said.
"Deal." Dean said barely letting Mary finish her sentence.
"Alright then, I'll give him a call. You might want to invite Charlie over too. I've seen Cas' phone blowing up." She grinned.
Dean grabbed Cas' phone, since his was still downstairs.
Not long after he sent the text the front door flew open causing Lucy to go nuts. "Sorry!" Charlie yelled while taking her shoes off. "Dean! Oh, I'm so glad you're alright." Charlie said pulling Dean in for a big hug.
"Let's just say, I never want to do that again." Dean said and everyone agreed.
Bobby showed up about 10 minutes later with grocery bags full of the ingredients to make his burger. Sam came out from the back patio and shook the snow out of his hair. "I got the grill area cleared off Bobby."
"Thanks kid." Bobby responded while setting everything down.
"I'll start frying this up." Mary said grabbing the bacon out of one of the bags.
Dean sat there at the kitchen table and watched everyone move around to get things ready and it really dawned on him how lucky he truly is. Take Cas' parents, well mostly his dad for example. They kicked their son out of the family and the house when they found out he was pregnant. Where as his family, welcomed Henry with open arms and has been there, supporting them every step of the way. Dean didn't realize he was crying until Charlie said something.
"Hey, you okay?" She asked softly.
"Hmm? Yeah, just thinking about everything." Dean smiled. "I'm okay."
They spent the rest of the evening sharing memories/stories and Dean felt so much better. He gave Charlie a hug before she left and promised her he'll call her if he needed anything. Bobby left shortly after also pulling Dean in for a hug.
"I'm glad you're okay kid." he said and patted his back before walking out the door. After the kitchen was cleaned up, he could barely keep his eyes open.
"I'm going to turn in for the night. Love you." Dean said before heading down the stairs.
"We'll be down in a few." Cas called after him. Dean was asleep before Cas even got Henry in his pajamas.
