A/N - I am currently in the year 2025 for this story
Saturday, October 18th
Malcolms POV
Mackenzie and I are going to homecoming tonight at Rosewood high. We have been going out on dates but just as friends even though we clearly love each other. Tonight I'm going to ask Mackenzie to be my official girlfriend again.
Ezra: I forgot to ask you weeks ago but Aria and I need you to watch your younger siblings tonight since we will be at a surprise 30th birthday party.
Malcolm: You know I would if I could but dad I just can't tonight.
Ezra: I really need you to clear your schedule since we have no one to watch the kids
Malcolm: I really can't dad because Rosewood high homecoming is tonight and it's my senior year so I can't miss it.
Ezra: If Aria's mom can watch them you are lucky but if not you are going to miss homecoming.
I wasn't going to let my dad ruin my night with Mackenzie tonight. My dad told me I lucked out that Mrs. Montgomery could watch my siblings so I could go to homecoming.
Mackenzie texted me that she was ready so I left to go pick her up and head to a restaurant before homecoming at Rosewood high.
Mackenzie: Did you tell your dad we are going together to homecoming.
Malcolm: I told him I would see you at the dance but I never told him I was picking you up and we were doing the whole date thing before the dance.
Mackenzie: Who does he think you are with now 2 hours before homecoming even starts?
Malcolm: He thought I was helping set up homecoming at Rosewood high with the basketball team.
Mackenzie: Isn't that a freshman sports team thing at Rosewood high?
Malcolm: Yes but it used to be the seniors and the freshman when my dad worked at Rosewood high but they changed it this year to only freshman.
Mackenzie won homecoming queen and I won homecoming king last night at the homecoming football game. We were both happy to win because this makes tonight and the rest of senior year special.
Mackenzie: I am happy to be going to homecoming with you again.
Malcolm: We also have prom a week before we graduate from high school next year.
Mackenzie: That is if neither of us is dating someone else by then.
Malcolm: What if I said I can promise you that won't be the case.
Mackenzie: What are you trying to ask me?
Malcolm: Will you be my girlfriend again? Mackenzie, I promise you that our love is real and not just pretend because this is our last homecoming.
Mackenzie: Yes Malcolm I will gladly be your girlfriend.
Malcolm: It's official now then so you are my girlfriend and I am your boyfriend.
Mackenzie: Can you tell your dad tomorrow so I can tell my mom as soon as you tell him?
Malcolm: Yes tomorrow I promise I will tell him.
After dinner, I drove Mackenzie and I to Rosewood high. I was originally planning on asking the question at the dance but I'm glad I asked her during dinner so I didn't have to worry about her answer anymore.
Throughout the night we danced and even kissed a few times. Near the end of homecoming, it was time for the homecoming king and queen to have a slow dance while everyone else watched us. A few people even took pictures to post on the schools student activities blog and for the yearbook.
At the end of the dance, we walked outside of Rosewood high and kissed again.
Mackenzie: I really don't want to go home yet.
Malcolm: My parents will be home late so why don't I take you home so you can change into pajamas and then we can hang out at my house for a few hours.
Mackenzie: You mean like a sleepover or just until we are both ready for bed.
Malcolm: Well I mean it could be a sleepover if you happen to fall asleep before I take you home.
Mackenzie: Sounds fun and all but what is your dad going to think about that?
Malcolm: Don't worry about it
I knew Mackenzie's mom would be home so she was going to have tell her that she was spending the night at a friend's house.
Mackenzie: Are you sure this is ok?
Malcolm: Your car isn't here so my dad won't suspect a thing.
Mackenzie and I are in my bedroom with the door closed so when my dad gets home he just thinks I'm already asleep.
Mackenzie and I were making out. I didn't plan on going any further than that tonight since we just got officially back together a few hours ago.
Mackenzie: I always knew you were the one Malcolm even last December when we had that awkward Los Angelos hotel run-in with each other.
Malcolm: I love you but we don't have to rush things tonight Mackenzie.
Mackenzie: I want to Malcolm. I'm a million times sure about this moment right now.
An hour or so later Mackenzie and I were cuddled up next to each other both tired enough to fall asleep any second.
Malcolm: You are my forever and always Mackenzie.
Mackenzie: How many months until we are both 18?
Malcolm: 7 months for you and 8 months for me.
Mackenzie: Just saying that after we both graduate high school we could get married and move in together.
Malcolm: Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.
Mackenzie: I know Malcolm because your dad would never allow us to get married until at least you had a college degree and a career.
Malcolm: It's not just about my dad but I do want a college degree and a career.
Mackenzie: A college degree and a career before marriage?
Malcolm: I think that is for the best Mackenzie.
The next morning
I knew I was likely going to need to explain why Mackenzie slept over last night unless I could sneak her out of the house and take her home without being noticed.
Mackenzie stayed in my room while I went downstairs to see if anyone was awake yet.
My dad was sitting in the kitchen drinking coffee and reading the newspaper.
Ezra: How was homecoming last night?
Malcolm: It was fun and I'm actually kind of sad it was my last homecoming.
Ezra: Is that because you didn't have a date last night.
Malcolm: No I just am not good with change and I'm just not sure where I'm going to be in college next year.
Ezra: No pressure because if you don't get into the schools you applied to it's not the end of the world.
Malcolm: I know dad but it's scary not knowing my future.
Ezra: Have you put any thought into playing basketball in college?
Malcolm: Not really, I think I'm done after this year.
Ezra: I thought so because you haven't once mentioned trying to get an athletic scholarship anywhere.
Malcolm: Actually dad there is something I have to tell you.
Ezra: Does this have anything to do with Mackenzie because I was waiting for you to be honest with me?
Malcolm: I didn't want to tell you until I knew Mackenzie and I were more than just friends.
Ezra: Honestly I'm not surprised you kept it a secret but I don't like how you lied to me about it.
Malcolm: Just to clear the air of any secrets she also slept over last night and I need to take Mackenzie home before her mom gets worried.
Ezra: You can take Mackenzie home now and we can talk about this more later once Aria comes back from picking up your siblings.
Thoughts on this chapter?
I have been thinking about writing a Malcolm and Mackenzie spinoff story set when they are both in college.
Will they go to the same or different schools?
If they are long-distance will it help or hurt their relationship?
The next chapter is going to be set in November. Not sure what couple or characters yet so be sure to comment with ideas/suggestions.
Thank you for reading. Reviewing would be great as well.
If you have any questions about this story just ask in the reviews or in a private message.
Sorry for not updating much anymore but reviews would really inspire me to write and post more often.
