Prompt from Poyo-Chan: Can you do one where Roth get is revenge on Jacob by taking Evie away from him (and by taking away I don't mean killing her)
(Please don't ask for a sequel, because I really struggled with this one)
…..
Evie groaned as she woke up, looking around to try and figure out where she was. She seemed to be tied to a chair in the middle of an empty room.
No weapons…. Not even her hidden blade.
This wasn't good.
Shaking her head, she tried to remember how she got here.
She remembered getting angry with Jacob… she stormed out of the train… then she was surrounded by Blighters, who must have over-powered her judging by the aches and pains spreading through her entire body.
"I think she's awake."
The pain in her forehead spiked as she looked up, spotting three Blighters and a familiar man standing in front of her.
"Roth." She hissed.
"Send a message to her darling brother." Roth ignored her, "Tell him, that unless he wants to start receiving body parts, he'll meet me at my theatre in three hours."
The addressed Blighter nodded, rushing off before Evie could say anything.
"Jacob, darling won't be able to stay away." Roth seemed to have forgotten anyone else was even around, "Then he'll pay… he'll pay for everything!"
"Should we knock her out again for the journey?" One of the Blighters asked, flinching as Roth spun around and glared at him.
"She's not going anywhere."
….….
Jacob frowned when he couldn't see Evie anywhere.
Roth was sneering at him from the stage, several men around him…. But no Evie.
"Where is she!" Jacob growled.
"You really thought I was just going to hand her over to you?" Roth smirked, clicking his fingers as men emerged from every shadow, "I'm afraid it's not that simple."
Jacob rolled his eyes dramatically, "So what? This is the part where you tell me that I have to give up and surrender to you, and you'll let her go?"
"No."
"… No?"
Roth's smirk deepened at the uncertain look on Jacob's face. "No… this is the part where I tell you that you'd better get used to defending London all by your little self."
"Evie's- "
"- Not dead, no." Roth shrugged, "I feel like you'll suffer more knowing she's out of reach. Your precious older sister, your rock, the only person keeping you on the straight and narrow… forever out of your reach.
Jacob lunged forwards, only for the Blighters to swarm forwards, restraining every limb until they were sure he wasn't going anywhere.
"Let me give you some advice." Roth slowly made his way over, "Give up Jacob…. I'm more than happy to let you live out the rest of your life in peace, but you need to learn that there are consequences to your actions. You did this to yourself." He made a vague gesture, and everything went black.
When Jacob next woke up, he was completely alone.
No Roth.
No Blighters.
No-one.
No Evie.
Burying his face in his hands, Jacob collapsed to his knees.
This was all his fault.
