Thank you for the review, Darth Nominatis!
I don't think we will see references of Splatoon 2 elements and characters in epilogues.
Alright! To all readers, send in a review or leave in a favorite/follow if you are liking the story so far!
"... I don't know about this, Mirii..."
Hun was sitting on the front passenger seat, as his face was anything but relaxed. The same could be said for Mirii, whose hands were holding the leading steering wheel.
The car was moving along the asphalt, under the now-born nighty sky.
"W-wasn't it a better idea driving with Greta and Carlson...?" Hun's hands were holding the first things they came in contact with... specifically the edge of his seat.
"That wouldn't prevent the Demon Squid from attacking us again." Mirii's head rose, but her irises were completely glued on the road ahead.
"But why choosing to go without them...?!" Hun had his focus on both the road and Mirii herself, even though the latter was neating a significant dominance.
"I would rather keep the option of being indipendent than being a mere follower of convenience." Her fiercely stare appeared on its own, alienating her from everything else except for the dusty, yet solid asphalt ahead. "And we, my dear Hunley, made our names with our solid perseverance."
"... it's true, but..." His eyes fell lower than expected, as his mind expanded his vision of his friend.
He adapted with a blush and a loss for words.
"... but?" Mirii's voice felt inviting, yet cool.
"... uh..." Hun's guts answered.
"... Hunley, don't 'uh' on me!" Her lips slid out of control. "Continue your speech at once!"
"Ehm... well..." His blush held him back, expanding its territory past his cheeks. "... yo-you know... I... ... I-I realized that your perseverance was bigger than mine!" His mouth went in a movement frenzy, same for his fingers.
"... is this all?" Her right hand had the urge to stamp her own palm onto her forehead. "Hunley..."
"Wh-what?!" A grin grew naturally from his lips, as his mind went blank.
"... I was thinking about Mrs. Bubblepop..." Her sigh affected her aura, now rendering her proud sight into lifted eyebrows of compassion.
"... oh..." His guts were finally able to clean the red tone on his face.
"... how is it possible that we don't have a single answer regarding Silin's disappearance...?!" Her fist broke free, slamming itself on the steering wheel before resuming its role. "We solved many cases before, including those magical occurrences... we almost solved Project Neo as well... why in the world we cannot find a girl who disappeared inside our own villa?! What is wrong with us?!"
Mirii wanted to hit the wheel some more, but a turn made her hands concentrate on the incoming event.
"Tell me, Hunley... where the problem lies?!"
Even Hun's hands eased on his seat. As he lost himself in his own thoughts, his mouth was moving without being noticed by the thinking boy himself.
"Curse the day that dreadful Demon Squid decided to interfere with perfection..." Her saliva tasted like poison. "Curse the powers who aided the Demon Squid in his or her quest for chaos and discomfort..."
As the girl was roaring the next set of phrases, Silin was sitting on the middle/back seat with her hands on it.
With her head down, she had her ears immersed into the surrounded environment...
"... where is she now...?" Silin touched her own right tentacle, playing with it a little. "Didn't she said she would had come a bit later...?"
Were you looking for me?
"Yes..." The younger lady expressed her sigh of relief, which made her finger play more games with her tentacle. "Where are you?"
I'm near you.
"... on the car's roof?" Her guessing feelings kicked in, amused at the prospect of a more complicated game.
No, I would fly away if I stood on the car's roof... my light weight wouldn't had helped me in the slightest.
"How about under the car?" Her voice was filled with enthusiasm, even when her answer felt hard to pronounce.
I'm... inside yourself.
"... did I eat you?" Silin busted a chuckle.
Not quite.
"But I don't remember eating huge Squids like you..." Silin exposed a big grin.
I used my magic to enter inside yourself, as an essence... I can still return myself to normal.
"And why you decided to become part of me? Were you bored or something?" Her curiosity took over her throat and her mind.
... well...
Silin rubbed her own bottom on her seat, thinking about her words.
... I wanted to test my new powers... maybe if I combine my essence with yours, we might be able to produce a superior magic who would allow us to communicate with the external world.
"Awesome!" Her eyes sparkled out of joy, as her hands were already twitching and trying to emanate magic out of their fingertips. "Do you think I have new powers?!"
Uhm... what would you like to do...?
"I would like to talk with Mirii!" Silin rubbed her own hands, preparing her own spirit for the mentioned wish.
Then, try it... with all your will...!
Silin nodded heavily, as she took heavy breathings and observed her objective. She latched her hands on the driver's seat and leaned herself closed to its other side.
"Mirii... Mirii, it's me..." She whispered, although her facial expression was commanding the opposite. "I'm right behind you..."
...
Mirii just finished completing another turn on the road. Silin's hoping fire ended at the same time: she let herself fall back to where she was, only to be ricochet off the base, auto-bouncing towards the back of the driver seat, hitting it with her knees.
"WHAT THE?!" Mirii pushed the middle of the pedal with all her strength, forcing the car to lose all the momentum and halt right in the middle of the asphalt.
"What's wrong, now?!" Hun leaned towards the girl as much as his seat belt allowed him.
Mirii detached her belt from her seat, as she almost turned completely behind and watched. Silin's eyes sparkled again, before smiling over her friend.
