Harry and his Brainy Girls

I don't own Harry Potter at all

A/N: A small warning in this, if you're a Ron fan then don't read this one since there's some big bashing of him in this. You've been warned. Oh, and I got the idea from a Vanessa Hudgens song, Rather Be With You.

Chapter 199: Cho Chang

Cho was having good time at the club. She had gotten separated from her friends, but didn't really care. She knew she'd see them again tomorrow and they'd trade stories of what they did the other night. It was kind of fun. Her eyes caught sight of a very handsome guy, who seemed to be coming towards her. He grinned at her and she felt her heart skip a beat. Her eyes looked him up and down. From his haphazard tousled black hair to his brilliant green eyes to how sharply dressed he was. He also looked to be in good shape if her eyes weren't deceiving her.

"Hey, my friend saw you, but he's a bit shy. So what say we go over to him?"

Cho frowned internally a bit hearing this. The guy wasn't here for her, but for his friend. But she put a smile on anyway. This might not be a terrible thing, maybe the guy was nice or something.

"Sure" she chirped.

She followed him over til she spotted a tall lanky redhead. He was wearing a bright orange shirt that really clashed with his red hair along with a pair of skin-tight pants that were not flattering on him at all.

"Hey, name's Ron" the redhead greeted.

"Cho" she said.

"Oh yeah, that's Harry over there" Ron said like his friend was a last minute thought.

Cho didn't like how this Ron had treated his friend. Since it was his friend that did the work for him.

"So what's your sign?" Ron asked in what he thought was a suave tone.

Cho internally groaned as she held back the urge to roll her eyes. He just had to throw out one of the crappiest pick-up lines in history.

Harry shook his head, but kept quiet as he sipped his drink.

"Are you really trying that line on me?" Cho asked with a hint of an incredulous tone laced in.

"Um, well, no, sorry" Ron said with red ears.

"It's alright, you're nervous. Try again" Cho said sympathetically. She understood it was nerve-wracking trying to talk someone you didn't know.

"Right, sorry, okay, here we go" Ron said taking a few deep breaths, "so, um, do you come here a lot?"

Cho bit back a retort at this guy using another crappy pick-up line.

"Not too often. My friends dragged me here tonight" she answered instead.

"Uh, yes, I see. Well, um" Ron said as he tried to think of something else to say.

Cho turned her attention to Harry who was quietly sipping his drink. He intrigued her. He had this cool air about him with his messy black hair and charming green eyes. But he didn't have a smidge of arrogance or ego like many guys would have if they looked that good. His eyes flicked and locked onto hers and they shared a connection of some kind. It made Cho feel quite warm and tingly inside. But then her attention was brought back to Ron and it was like crashing back to reality.

"Wanna get out of here and make out?" Ron suggested.

Cho recoiled a bit at this. What kind of girl does he take me for?

Now Cho didn't think she looked like the kind of girl who goes for a romp in the backseat of a car or anything of the sort. She was pretty sure she wasn't dressed in anyway that gave off that vibe either. She was careful in picking out her outfit since she knew that could give off signs to guys she might not want.

"Smooth Ron" Harry commented.

"Huh, what did I say wrong?" Ron asked confused.

"You don't ask a girl you just met if they want to just make out right away. This isn't a movie or anything" Harry explained.

Ron looked a bit stupefied.

Great, it appears his IQ doesn't even reach the double digits Cho thought.

"You sure mate, I've seen it before" Ron said.

"Yeah, I'm sure" Harry said.

Ron looked disappointed at this and Cho didn't like where this might be going. She was debating whether to make up an excuse and leave, but what kept her was Harry. She wanted to get to know him more.

"Mate, why don't you talk to that blond over there" Harry suggested, "she looks lonely."

"You think?" Ron asked, which made Harry nod, "right, see ya later."

He then left and Cho sighed in relief.

"My name is Harry" Harry said introducing himself with a smile.

"Cho" Cho greeted back.

They shook hands.

"Sorry about Ron, he's well" Harry said as he was trying to think of words to describe his friend.

"It's alright" Cho said.

"Good, um, would you like to dance?" Harry asked.

"Sure" Cho said with a smile.

"Okay, but I should warn you I got two left feet and known as a foot crusher" Harry said.

"I'll be careful" Cho said with a slight smile.

They went to the dance floor and Cho guided them and it worked, mostly. Harry did step on Cho's feet once or twice, which Harry apologized profusely for. Cho told him it was alright. She was having a great time with Harry. They then took a break and found an open table and sat down and ordered some drinks.

"You move quite well" Harry commented.

Cho blushed as she murmured her thanks to the compliment. For some reason she knew Harry was being earnest and there was no hidden meaning to the words.

"So what do you do, you know, for a living?" Harry asked.

"I'm a consultant" Cho said.

"I see, sounds interesting" Harry commented.

"It's really not" Cho said, "it's quite boring really. What about you?"

"No job, just a guy with a lot of money with no clue what to do with" Harry said casually.

Cho raised an eyebrow at this.

"I'm sure you've heard the Potter name before" Harry said.

Cho nodded. She had heard of the Potters, they were one of the wealthiest families in the world.

"Yeah, so their only son, Harry Potter. At your service" Harry said.

"Wh-wh-what are you doing here?" Cho asked stunned at someone so wealthy being in a place like this that wasn't very high class.

"No reason. I like these places more than all the parties I have to attend. In fact, I think I was supposed to be at one tonight" Harry said then a rueful smile crossed his face, "my mom is not going to be happy with me when she finds me."

Cho couldn't help smiling in amusement at this.

"You're scared of your mom?" she asked.

"You'd be to if you saw her right pissed off. She's one scary woman" Harry said.

"So you like to tempt fate" Cho teased.

"Well I am here instead of the party" Harry said with a twinkle in his eye.

Cho slowly inched closer to Harry, enjoying being close to him. Harry mimicked her. Both were almost a hair away from kissing when they were rudely interrupted.

"Mate can we get out of here?" Ron asked.

Harry and Cho broke apart and Cho was displeased with the shattered atmosphere.

"You can go Ron. I'm happy here" Harry said.

"But we're supposed to be partners, wingmen, bros before hos" Ron whined.

Cho nearly growled at this accusation. Harry gently laid a hand on her forearm, which calmed her somewhat.

"Ron, please leave, now" Harry said in a very firm tone.

Ron sputtered as his ears turned red.

"Leave, now" Harry said again in a firm tone.

Ron finally slunk off.

Cho was impressed by Harry's authoritative tone. It kind of turned her on to be honest.

"Now where were we?" Harry asked.

"I think we were here" Cho said as she leaned in close.

"Ah yes, we were" Harry said as he leaned in close.

End

A/N: I decided to end it here. I did have some ideas to continue this, but all of them didn't feel right to me. Thanks for reading and please review.
