Chapter 109

April 21st, 1999

France

Harry was exhausted

Over the past week, he had sat in on war trials for accused Death Eaters that were depressing as hell to watch

But now he had gotten the ability to go home on Wednesday instead of the Friday that Fleur had been expecting him home.

So now he had decided that he was going to surprise his wife by coming home early where they could spend some time together and he could finish his report for Intelligence in his home office.

And he could spend some time with his new daughter Natalie that to his utmost regret Harry had not seen a lot of due to the chaos of the Senate.

The past seven months had not been kind to spending time with his family but with the campaign over and the war trials entering their last months, Harry had confidence though that that would change.

After leaving Paris Harry apparated to the outside of the house.

He made sure to be as quiet as he could casting a silencing charm on his shoes as he walked in the front door.

Entering into the house he listened for noise on where people could be.

He heard what sounded like Fleur in the kitchen.

Walking quietly he entered the kitchen to see his wife trying to get Elena to eat some food.

But soon Elena noticed Harry walking in the entryway.

"Daddy" She squealed running into her father's outstretched arms.

"Hey princess," Harry said picking up his little girl.

"Harry" Fleur looked surprised turning to see her husband who she then embraced as well.

Harry chuckled.

"I thought you still had to work for the next two days," Fleur asked.

Harry shook his head "No" He said, "I need to work on my Committee Report at home a bit but we wrapped up our work in Switzerland a bit earlier than normal".

"Great" Fleur smiled "Than you are going to be home for a few days then".

"Yup" He replied.

: Good" Fleur smiled enjoying being with her husband and daughter.

Harry felt the same way after the rough past few weeks.

Finally separating and putting Elena on the ground Harry looked around.

"Wheres Natalie," He asked.

"Asleep" Fleur replied."She was quite active today".

Harry nodded before looking down at Elena "Hey princess" He said kissing his bubbly daughter "Did you behave for your mother when I was gone".

"Yes, Dady" Elena said in her cute little voice.

Harry smiled.

Fleur walked over to them "Elena was very busy today weren't you darling" She said, "Do you want to show daddy your drawings".

The little girls' energetic run to the table was enough of an answer for them.

"Here Daddy," Elena said handing him some drawlings "Do you like them".

He looked over the drawings.

"Very nice," Harry said, "You did a great job princess".

Harry's daughter beamed at the praise from her father.

Truth be told though he had no idea what these drawings were supposed to be over but he was proud over Elenas work nonetheless.

He saw Elena soon looked tired.

Looking up at the clock Harry realized that it was close to Elena's bedtime.

"Ok Princess," Harry said picking up Elena "Its time for you to go to bed".

Elena tried protesting that call but her little yawns made the point moot.

Soon after tucking Elena in and checking on Natalie Harry and Fleur went into their bedroom to catch up.

A couple of days later Fleur and Harry decided to take the family out on a little excursion in Muggle Paris.

So bright and early on Saturday morning Harry and Fleur were walking in the park with their children.

Fleur was pushing Natalie in a stroller and Harry was holding onto Elena as they walked hand in hand through the park.

Soon his daughter was wanting to go on the swings.

"You two can go on ahead," Fleur said, "I think Natalie will be up soon and I want to make sure she's fine".

Harry nodded and followed Elena to the swings.

He laughed as he pushed Elena on the swings.

"Higher, Higher" She squealed.

Harry smiled.

This was what he was missing with his work in the Senate recently.

Spending time with his family especially with his two growing children.

Even with a busy Senate session coming up he had to work out some time for his family.

And then maybe they could go somewhere in the June Recess.

But then Harry shook his head to try and stop thinking about work and focus on his daughter who after getting done with the swings was running to the playground.

As he got onto the playground to watch over Elena Harry realized that he felt very large on the structure.

Dear Merlin, he was still only in his twenties he should not feel cumbersome on here.

Nonetheless, he followed Elena around and made sure that she did not end hurting herself.

How different was this compared to the past few days?

He had spent the past month seeing negotiations in between Senators and Prosecutors.

On Monday he was listening to war crimes being read out and now he was playing with his daughter.

Harry was just hit with how weird of a statement that was.

Wow.

But then he saw Elena heading towards the slide.

"Can I go down that Daddy?" Elena asked.

"Sure princess," Harry said seeing Fleur coming up out of the corner of his eye.

"Weee" Elena cheered as she slid down the slide before being caught by Fleur who scooped up her daughter in her arms smothering her like a mother.

"Mommy" Elena protested trying to squeal out of her arms.

Harry smiled looking at the two as he got off the playground to go and join them.

"Ok, Ok," Fleur said placing Elena down who ran off to her next thing to play with.

Harry and Fleur shared a glance.

This is what children can entail he supposed and was something they knew they were going into when they had decided to have Natalie and they knew that it would happen with any future kids.

Oh well.

This sure was a hell of a lot better than sitting through the war trials.
