Chapter 110
October 1st, 1999
Senate
It was time for the day of the sentencing of the Death Eaters captured at the end of the Second Wizarding War.
Harry was currently holed away with the rest of the Senate Intelligence Committee in a Conference Room watching the sentencing on one of the new Wizarding TVs Created just a few months previous.
After many hours of reviewing the Switzerland Testimonies, the Committee had held several votes on what course of action to instruct the French Judicial Delegation to recommend to the Wizgamnot after conferring closely with President Duverger and the members of Chairman Louboutins Judiciary Committee.
But ultimately even though they could decide on what their delegation would choose the full Wizgamnot Panel consisted of twenty-one members of whom they knew very little of how they would end up voting.
It was thus a very anxious Committee that huddled around to watch the Television in the Room.
Not having to wait long though as soon the news on the Tellie began,
Harry could just see that people were funneling into the courtroom including the Jurors followed by a line of the prisoners and the Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards Edmund Glaise-Horstenau who opened up the proceedings by banging the gavel.
This was all news that Harry and the rest of the committee would be receiving before the rest of the country that would be seeing the results in the papers tomorrow.
Harry felt privileged to be able to watch this footage that only a few Senators could see at the moment.
Glaise-Horstenau began to address the courtroom

The Court will also then acquit these members of the defendants. Ankeney, Pokorny, Holmes, Tracy, and Murdock.
I also have an announcement to make. The French Member of the International Military Tribunal desires to record his dissent from the decisions in the cases of the Defendants Holmes, Murdock and Tracey. He is of the opinion that they should have been convicted and not acquitted.
He also dissents from the decision in the case of the sentence on the Defendant Gollwitzer, and is of the opinion that the sentence should have been death, and not life imprisonment.
This dissenting opinion will be put into writing and annexed to the judgment and will be published as soon as possible
The executions of the thirteen convicted Death Eaters will be set for two weeks from today to take place in the Murtgen-Heildeburg Detention Facility.
The Court has hereby adjourned" The Supreme Mugwump banged the gavel and the live television coverage ended.
All around the room people let out the bated breath that many did not even know they were holding and began whispering amongst each other.
"I really thought that Murdock was going to get the death penalty," Senator Kaprisky told Harry "I don't know how much more evidence the court needed to show that man is a mass murder".
"I know" Harry nodded, "I think almost all of us voted for his death".
"Except for Marie, Jane and Charlotte" Valerie pointed out "But even so they voted for life imprisonment, not acquittal".
"Well" Harry breathed in "Noone was going to agree with all the cases but I suppose that's what an International Body is supposed to work out".
Senator Kaprisky looked down the table at Chairman Vatel and Ranking Member Auriol who were conferring amongst themselves.
Soon the Chairman addressed the rest of the group after he had talked with the Ranking Member for a good ten minutes or so.
"I'm calling for a recess now," Vatel said, "You can all go home while I will go with Jacqueline to talk with leadership and then I'm thinking about calling a closed-door meeting either on Wednesday or Friday where we need to take a markup vote on the Lachaud nomination".
Soon they got the motion to leave.
Harry said goodbye to several of his new friends on Intelligence before apparating be met by an inquisitive wife.
"So," Fleur asked, "How did the results go".
"Thirteen executed," Harry said, "Almost all the ones I predicted would".
Fleur nodded at that.
"Hopefully now we can start focusing on other things with the war behind us," Harry said.
"Yes," Fleur said taking his hand "Come the kids have been wanting to see you for a while".
Harry smiled and followed his wife outside to the sight of Elena pulling Natalie around in a wheelbarrow.
Oh, dear Merlin.
