Just an idea that's been kicking around in my head for a bit.

Kayla didn't really need the alarm to wake her. It had taken quite a lot of calming down to get her to sleep to begin with.

She was already awake when the sun rose, but knew that rushing right away would get her nothing but waiting outside of the professor's lab waiting for the others.

Finally, when the alarm did go off, she shot out of bed like a rocket, gathering everything she needed in a hurry and taking off downstairs to leave.

She was caught by her arm by her mother and lifted up into a hug. Excited as she was to get going, Kayla realized it wasn't right to take off without saying goodbye. She hugged her mother warmly.

Even if she'd not wanted to, even in her human form, the Dragonite woman's grip couldn't easily be escaped from, and her father-having a similar dragon type heritage-was no slouch either. Even with the strength she'd inherited, she'd need three of herself and a crowbar to escape that kind of 2x hug combo.

"You're going to be amazing." She said with a smile.

"No matter what you decide to do." Her father added. "Just remember that you've got dragon's blood in there."

Kayla giggled, squeezing her parents, "I won't ever forget it." She promised.

Seeming satisfied, they finally set her and with an eager goodbye, Kayla turned on her heels and rushed out of the house towards to the Professor so she could get her very first pokemorph.

In this world, pokemorphs were as integral to daily life as people or animals.

In their feral form, they wandered the wilderness as anthro, animalistic creatures, some intelligent, some demented, but none fully human.

In their human form, often referred to as their 'moe' form, they were almost indistinguishable from humans, though could still access their innate elemental powers.

Some pokemorphs lived exclusively in society, unable to even access their anthro combat form, living on the other extreme to those ferals who had forgotten they even had a non-animalistic form.

But trainers... trainers who had completed all the tests to prove they were ready, they traveled the world with pokemorphs, exploring, training, and working with them, battling against one another with the morphing creatures' anthro forms, and helping them learn about themselves in their more human form.

Today would be the first day of Kayla's journey, using her dragon type strength to book it like a freight train down the streets of Pallet towards the Professor's laboratory.

Being so indistinguishable from humans, pokemorphs often married and just as frequently mated with humans. The child more often then not came out human, but such humans would have traits from their blood line.

Having a Dragonite mother and a father with dragon type blood, Kayla's dragon typing had been known well before she'd even been born. She had no visual component to hers, which had always frustrated her, but she had the strength and durability innate to the dragon typing; as well as the aggression.

Well.. it wasn't true she had no physical component, but it wasn't one that could easily be mentioned without things turning awkward. As she ran, she recognized the short boy running on the other side of the street.

Bailey had grown up with Kayla; though had been initially scared of her. Nothing to do with typing, as a bug/poison bloodline, there was nothing instinctive to it. Kayla's boisterousness had just been... a bit much for the quieter boy.

But quiet or not, he was just as excited to start their journey as she was. But if he was out here to, that meant she probably was.

Kayla's blood started to pump faster at the thought. She couldn't show up behind her, not a chance. Her charge kicked up an actual dust cloud as she surged forward, refusing to be second place to her of all people.

When she saw the shadow on the ground, signifying a certain fellow dragon typer flying overhead, she practically roared. Emily was also a dragon type, but unlike Kayla, she'd developed more actual physical traits. Scaled, claws, fangs, and-the trait which has brought Kayla the most grief-wings.

Kicking it into overdrive, they both left Bailey in the dust. Kayla felt slightly bad about it, but like hell she was coming in behind Emily again.

In the end, the two reached the lab at near enough the same time... crashing into the wall and leaving equally telling dents in the wall. Bailey had to contain laughter when he finally arrived only to find that, even with such a head start, the two dragon type trainers were still too dazed from the crash to have made it inside.

When they cleared their heads, Bailey opened the door and headed inside before the two could start arguing about who had technically arrived first. The two quickly followed of course, shelving the argument for the time being; something that the Professor thanked Bailey for.

Now... there came the choice of which of the three pokemorphs to go with. The morph they took would decide their entire journey going forward, and what with there being three of them, there was exactly enough for all three.

Thankfully, all three had decided which they wanted over a week ago, and there was no argument over who would take which. All three claimed their starters...
