Story in a nutshell: Sofia is right on time as she sees everyone years after freeing them, to see Elena's coronation.

Authors Note: Wow, I'm still working on some other stories but could not resist after seeing the theory that Sofia might be at Elena's coronation on the TV Tropes page. So I thought I'd write something of that nature. While it's not the actual day it is the day before. I'd actually really love to write a straight Sofia story so let me know how you feel about that.

Enjoy

Princess Sofia had a spell to use as a magical portal to go anywhere in the world. One of the girls, Sonia she thought, from Hexley Hall had taught it to her. Apparently, it was one of the best and safest ways to travel when you're magical and can do all kinds of stuff. So, with her bag in hand and the wand she was allowed to keep from Royal Prep, Sofia stepped into her magical portal.

She found herself just outside of Avalor's Palace leaving a guard or two surprised.

"Sorry!" she said. "I'm invited to Elena's coronation."

A guard or two had come over to her letting them go through her bag and glare at her. Geez tough crowd before remembering Elena's letter.

"I have this." With that she produced Elena's letter and then looked around at the guards. "I need to Captain Gabriel Nunez."

The redheaded guard had smiled at her showing nearly all his teeth before running off. If she was right that was Higgins, she supposed. Then finally a tall and muscular man had stood in front of her before escorting her inside himself. That was Gabe and she could see why Elena called him handsome in her letters.

"Sorry about that, I suppose you know about what's been going on," said Gabe carefully.

"Yea, I've had my fair share of magical problems and adventures," said Sofia. The now teenager had just glanced at the castle surprised to see how much and how little had changed. "Those fairies can really hold a grudge."

Gabe laughed and just nodded his head at the mere mention of magical creatures. They sure surprised them all. Sofia fanned out her lilac skirt and waved to Isabel working on an invention. The other girl had dropped her wrench and rushed over to them.

"Sofia! I haven't really seen you since you helped us. I'm glad that you were able to come and wow you look great too," said Isabel leaving Sofia to scratch her head a little. She supposed that she did being around 14 now.

"It's great to see you too Isabel, I may not have been here in a long time but I do know what your sister has been telling me," said Sofia laughing. "How's your invention for the local shoe shop going? I can give you some perspective on that."

The two girls laughed a little before she hugged her. Isabel had to finish her invention and Gabe had to escort her to Elena. Which was really sweet of him actually letting Gabe lead her in a different direction then the throne room. Good she never thought of Elena as the type to sit around on a throne anyway.

"Sofia!" called Mateo from behind her. "I'm so glad to see you. Is it true that you came via a spell? Like a real spell that can you get from point a to point b like a portal type thing?"

He was giddy and actually clapped his hands in excitement at the type magic that she had learned. Part of her wondered how much he knew and what she didn't. Maybe they could teach each other or… She wasn't sure but nodded a smile herself.

"Yea, I guess Elena told you? I spent some time at Hexley Hall over the summer, it's ah-mazing!" she said just as excited as him. "We can swap spells or something. I have my classes to be Enchancia's Foreign Relations Ambassador coming up but I can write or something."

Mateo just nodded enthusiastically ready with a billion questions himself.

"Are you still a protector?" asked Gabe curiously. Elena had told nearly everyone her letters, but then again, she did ask permission.

"I do, but I can squeeze letter writing in." Sofia snapped her fingers and nodded at Mateo. "I had a magical tutor, her name was Sonia McClay, she applied and got the job to be King Juan Ramon's royal wizard. Just tell her I sent you and of course I'll send you whatever I can."

"I have to write to King Juan Ramon," said Mateo and hugged her while she hugged him back.

They headed toward the ballroom where she could hear someone practicing the guitar on the other side. Then someone arguing about something or another. Gabe and Sofia just shared a knowing look before entering the room together. She nudged Gabe and whipsered to just announce her with her title. She really liked being announced to a room.

"Ahem," said Gabe clearing his throat as Sofia stood up properly. "May I announce Sofia the first Protector of the Realm."

"Thanks Gabe," she said feeling proud of herself. She had raelly grown into her self and more confident then she was before. Or at least that's what she told herself.

"Sofia!" called Elena stopped the arguing she had with her grandmother and raced over to her hugging her. "Oh my gosh you've gotten so big! Your hair is a little darker and I love this braid you did. And… Oh gosh it's just so great to see you!"

"I know you look great too," said Sofia hugging her back in a tight squeeze. She rather liked the French braid that Amber had twisted her hair into. It was functional and kind of sophisticated looking that she learned to do it herself. "This ballroom looks amazing too!"

Elena just srolled her eyes but kept grinning like crazy. "Yea well abuela wants to make it purple streamers and I want red and we've been arguing about it for the past twenty minutes or so."

"Why not both?" she asked brightly.

"That's what I said," said Francisco. "It's great to see you Princess Sofia."

"It's very wonderful to see you Francisco," she said nodding at him proudly. "If it's alright with you, I'd like to shake your hand for my ambassador classes for practice."

"Of course," he said putting his hand out as she shook it. Phew, that worked out better then she thought. Elena hadn't really left her side and giggling softly. "You will be a great ambassador one day Senorita Sofia the First."

"Thank you."

Then she turned to Luisa who just looked at her with a sly look on her face. Sofia allowed her to be pulled into a tight bear hug. It felt good to be back with all of them again.

"I can't wait for you to meet Naomi but she's still at the port. Did you meet Gabe yet?" she asked gesturing to her friend still watching them amused and happy all at the same time. "How was your trip, oh wait I feel dumb, you literally just walked here."

Sofia just laughed and nodded. "Yea but I will take some time to eat if you'd like and I'll tell you all about my magical classes. Why don't you come Gabe? I'd love to get to know all of Elena's friends she's been writing to me so much about."

"Come on!" said Elena still excited and pulled both Sofia and Gabe to the dining room. "The coronation is tomorrow and I'm so glad you came early."

Luisa and Francisco chuckled and just instructed the guards to finish decorating. They had so much to tell Sofia and she had so many stories to tell them.
