Slipping off his shoes as he closed the front door, Kuroo called out a greeting to his mother.
"Tetsu, great news!" She said as she stepped out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel. "I was able to rearrange my shifts at the hospital and got the night off." When Kuroo didn't respond immediately, she continued, "I felt bad that we haven't had much time together lately, so I thought we'd have a night in, just us."
'Of all nights, why'd it have to be tonight?' Kuroo thought. But with a slightly forced smile, he said, "Sounds great."
